I got this as part of the Trade-in promotion and I am really enjoying it. Since I was able to get the tablet at a discounted price, I do not have quite the pain point that some other people have had. Lets get this out of the way first, the bad. The screen resolution could be better for a tablet in this day and age and this price. It would've also been nice if it had supported wireless charging, but it does not seem to. That being said. I replaced a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and this tablet is much faster, smoother and all around nicer than the Tab 2 10.1. It has the updated Android OS and at this point runs better than my Nexus 7. The difference between the 9.7 and 8 may not seem like that much, but I think it is. Although the 8 is also nice. Same snappy performance and a smaller, lighter frame. If you have the opportunity and the inclination I would suggest picking this up.

This was the first tablet we've had. We were extremely impressed by the size and quality of the pictures it takes and displays. It is fairly intuitive to navigate although it takes a little while to get used to not touching the screen in the wrong place. It is on the same network as our laptop, but the response time is so much faster. The number and variety of available apps is awesome and will take some research to uncover the gems. Also love the Quick Connect to our large flat screen Samsung TV.

This tablet is better than what i expected from reading the reviews. The battery last all day and the screen is just right size. The processor is good enough for normal use.

I did my homework before purchasing this Tab a 9.7. It was time for my older one to be replaced and this more than fit the bill. Its functionality is excellent; great speed, excellent clarity, comfortable size and phenomenal camera are equaled by its ability to multi task flawlessly. Being a college professor who often teaches hybrid classes (classes that have both an in-class and online component) the Tab a is also a major help in and out of the classroom. It makes it effortless to access the many servers I have to work with in the course of any given semester. And It's just as easy, on my down time, to enjoy catching up on the news, personal email with friends, social media messaging, and a good book. Using the screen keyboard has never been a problem for me, so I don't feel a need for an external one at all. I have the choice to turn the key sound on or off or to simply swipe. All in all, a true win-win situation!!

I have been looking for a tablet for about 6 months. I wanted to be able to use it for presentations and personal organization. The Tab A is great for both. Even though it is very slim, it seems to be pretty rugged. It has a great screen and the operating system is just like my cell phone. The speed of recharging will surprise you and the battery life is better than I had expected. It's a great buy!

I was a little hesitant in buying an expensive tablet for my autistic son. I was unsure if he would like it or even take care of it, but he is doing great with it. He loves it. He has not put it down since Christmas. It's user friendly and he has not had any problems navigating. It takes great pictures and the screen is crystal clear. I only wish there was a way to keep my son from deleting the apps. He has done it a few times and then bring to me when he wants them back on the tablet.My husband and I both love it. I am seriously considering buying another one for my husband.

This is the best tablet out there for the money. Comes with word, excel, and powerpoint. It's getting harder and harder to justify buying a laptop anymorw

Ive been an apple user for years. Iphone 3g,4g IPad 2nd generation. With that i had started to make the shift away from the ios world. To buggy for me and newer apps compatibility with older equipment was just bad. So i purchased the Samsung TabA 9.7 and i couldnt be happier with it. Fast and nice sharp images. Battery Life is great about 10 hours of fairly moderate use which is fine for me. Nice and light weight unlike my Ipad. One of the best parts is apps that i buy i dont get charged tax on unlike the with the apple store. All in all very pleased with the purchase.

We love the tablet. It is very light and the camera is great. The display is bright and the processor is very fast. Great tablet for a great price.

Love this tablet. I am a real estate agent and on the road all the time. I had purchased a small lap top thinking it would be great to have with me at all times, but it was too big & bulky. This tablet is small enough to put in my purse or small business bag but big enough to still see the letters & numbers. Easy to use and sync's my calendar to my phone automatically.

Battery lasts a good time. Ease of use. Nice size.

I purchased this tablet for use at school and it performs spactularly! I use it for writing out papers and for accessing notes. It can be used for nearly everything I need to get done that my phone is too small for. It is very quick and responsive and the battery life is fantastic. I charge it maybe every 2 weeks. I'm thoroughly impressed. Another great Samsung product!

Pretty awesome tablet. I got this for my nephew for Xmas but found myself interested in buying one for me once I used it. I am a die hard Ipad user but this tablet had some cool features. I like the expandable memory with the Micro SD cards. Your storage is endless based on how many of those cards you buy. I like the office feature as well. This was the first time I used Word and Excel on a tablet. The tablet is nice and light and just the right size for trips in the car. Good battery life as well.

This review is for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A. It has a 9.7 inch screen (measured diagonally) and 16 GB of internal storage. It is great for what I use it for, which is mainly playing games and looking something up on the Internet instead of firing up my laptop. One drawback I've noticed when compared to the Galaxy Tab S is that the speakers are on one side whereas on the Tab S, there is one speaker on each side giving it more of a surround sound feeling. I know that you don't buy a tablet to experience amazing surround sound, but it is something I noticed. Overall, the Tab A works wonderfully and would definitely recommend it as a cheaper option to the Tab S.

I bought this is tablet for sketching since it has a stylus. I use sketchbook express (free app) for drawing, at it works really nice. The screen is plenty bright at 1/3 brightness. Full brightness is almost obnoxiously bright. Battery life is great so far, even while streaming shows on hulu. Certainly better than my Samsung phone. Only thing I wish it had is a menu button like my phone.

Battery life is great and performance is great for the price point. The only drawbacks to this tablet are the amount of memory and the video performance with high definition video.

I will start by saying, I am not someone doing extreme graphical design or running high powered apps and games. That aside, this is a great tablet. I bought two for the holidays. One for my girlfriend and the other for me. We have matching tablets and I found a great deal on Amazon for keyboards + cases that work very well with this. The tablet has performed and met all of my expectations. It is a worthwhile buy. I expected nothing less, it is a Samsung after all.

I purchased my Tab A shortly after Christmas. It is my first tablet. The device has been a real pleasure to use. And my owning a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone helped shorten my learning curve with the tablet. The tablet itself is easy to set up, however, Google's end of the settings has been a bit of a nightmare and caused a problem when I tried to set up 2 accounts. However, when I contacted Samsung via phone, who then remote controlled my tablet, the tech provided SUPERB support. He was knowlegeable, sympathetic, and patient. I could also understand him. I have had to use the remote service provided by several different devices over the years, and this is the FIRST time that my device was actually fixed. (Always before, after wasting more than an hour, I am forced to reset.) The same week I contacted Samsung Support, I had to contact Fitbit about a Charge HR whose battery would only last 12 hours. (Note: A co-worker had the same problem with her first Fitbit.) The Fitbit tech helping me bordered on being rude by always interrupting me and talking over me. The battery life of my tablet exceeds my expectations. Thus, needless to say, my next fitness gear will definitely be made by Samsung. But, having rated Samsung's phone support so high, I also need to state that my prior chat support with them was wholly disappointing.

I wanted something light and fast to travel with. I rely on my computer for work; and this tablet works for me. It takes some getting used to as far as the wi-fi ..you can't use it everywhere (like a cell phone), but the trade off in price was worth it for me. I took the classes to learn how to "double click" to open windows that I needed as well as learning the basic navigation of the device. The staff at Best buy were GREAT when it came to advice and support.

after reviewing several similar products and brands and their prices Best Buy was the most convenient location for this product which was my very top choice. They were willing to price match and i even got the very color i wanted. it was out of the box ready to go, easy to set up and get started using immediately. it is very light weight, it has great speed and i have found the camera more useful for my business than i ever imagined.i use other samsung products and i feel confident about their reliability.
