The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 does everything and more you could ever ask for in a tablet. I am on the go and need the portability of a laptop however it was too heavy and bulky for me caring and setting up my laptop all the time. With my new Samsung tablet I have everything I had in my laptop in my hands everywhere I go. It's fast, lightweight and easy to use. The 12.2 screen is easy to view and the perfect size for my excel spreadsheets.

Better bang for the money than an iPad Air

    • The 12.2 inch screen is very large but that is what attracted me to this tablet; I was finding the 7 inch screen on my Nexus 7 too small for needs. Big screen frequently sacrifice picture quality for size but that wasn’t the case with this tablet. I was immediately impressed with the picture quality and in my opinion it is even better than the screen resolution on the iPad Air’s 9.7 inch screen. I’ve read that Samsung over-saturated the colors to enhance the screen’s appearance; some people have complained that the colors aren’t true. I don’t care I‘m not editing photos on my tablet, I have a computer for that, and the iPad Air’s colors aren’t true either. For how I use the tablet the colors look just fine. • The iPad Air I tried only had 16GB and it rapidly disappeared and I realized that I would need at a minimum 32GB and more likely 64GB. I was not impressed enough with the iPad Air to spend the money needed to acquire 32 or 64GB. The Samsung came with 32GB, and I slipped in an existing Micro SD card from an old phone, giving me 64GB. More memory; faster; bigger & better screen; more features; better customization; and it cost less. • I was surprised at how fast this tablet is, my Nexus 7 is slower by comparison, as was the iPad Air I tested for two weeks. It is possible to bog this tablet down by having too many apps running, however this is easily remedied by simply pressing the “Recent Apps” command key and closing individual apps or tapping “Close All” to free up the CPU and memory. • The speakers are fair, much better than my Nexus 7’s speakers, which are barely audible, and the iPad Air I tried had both speakers along one edge (the bottom edge), completely defeating any stereo affect from having two speakers. • While it’s true this tablet is plastic it felt sturdier than the metal iPad Air I tried and returned. The iPad’s screen flexes when you press on it and even after two weeks of heavy use I just couldn’t get use to the spongy feel of the screen. The case may be aluminum but it is thin and doesn’t feel substantial. The smooth metal back on the iPad made holding it difficult. I bought a case for the iPad and for my Samsung; can’t see the back on either when they are in their case. I think the combination of my white tablet and my brown case look and feel great; I can’t imagine not having a case for either tablet. • I paid for and downloaded both the Swiftkey and ai.type keyboards; I pretty much settled on the Swiftkey for my Galaxy S III and Nexus 7. I didn’t care for the Android keyboard on the Nexus 7; didn’t care for either the Android or Samsung keyboards on the Galaxy S III, but the Samsung keyboard on this tablet is the best touch-screen keyboard I have used, and the word prediction is fantastic, this keyboard is far and away superior to the Apple keyboard. • Apple has more apps that have been adapted for tablet use, especially where games are concerned, but I’m not into games much so that is pretty much a non-issue. I found Safari on the iPad Air a huge disappointment compared to Google’s Chrome. I read a lot and I did think the Kindle app for Apple was marginally superior to the Kindle app for Android because it had the X-Ray feature, but that is a failing on Amazon’s part, not Samsung’s. Apple’s iBook app combined with iTunes needs a complete rewrite, I found it completely unworkable. • I considered the Nexus 10 but I figured it would be comparable to my Nexus 7 in every way but screen size and I felt I needed more in the way of an upgrade than just the size of the screen. . • I considered the 32GB Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 which has an amazing screen, but an 8.9 inch screen is not that much larger than a 7 inch screen. We have two Kindle Fire tablets for our Grandchildren and I didn’t think I would be happy with the limitations placed on the Kindle Fire HDX by the Amazon’s OS. The Samsung 12.2 Tab Pro comes with Android 4.4 KitKat and I’m extremely happy now that I spent the extra $120 (over the Kindle) for the Samsung 12.2 Tab Pro.

I work on the railroad and this thing does it all from email to netflix to video chat with family at home. It enables me to also acces all the rule books in pdf quickly on the road. I replaced my laptop with this and no longer use laptop. I can use all the same apps my smart phone does and use my 4g LTE cell hotspot to power when wifi not available. If you are tired of hassles a laptop has then this will do it all and more. A plus is all google apps an sync between. Only drawback is it uses different powercord yet battery life is very generous but on flip side takes a couple hours to charge full. I also use it when home with chromecast to steam movies and cut cable tv as a result. Whats not to like. Its also very thin and takes no space in my luggage/grip.

I bought this as a replacement for my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (stolen when our house was robbed). Samsung moved the power slot to the side, which is a good improvement from the bottom (though it would work better on the left), and they made the power cord longer which was really needed. The clarity of the images is terrific. As usual, there are way too many apps installed on it that I will never use, and can't be removed. Sound is better as well, and the volume goes up farther, which I appreciate as I'm slightly hard of hearing. Easy to set up and use... I was sort of surprised, once I set it up and registered it, all the apps I had installed on my previous tablet showed up on this one, which was great. It is larger than the previous tab, of course, I bought the larger one purposefully, but it seems to not weigh any more than the other. I like that you can have two screens/two apps up at the same time. I think someone who used this for business would really like all the apps and features. More expensive than the previous one, and the battery is not any better... some company somewhere is going to finally come up with a truly long-lasting battery for devices and makes billions of dollars... but apparently it hasn't occurred to Samsung.

I loved my Galaxy 2 tab 10.1 and i have had it for almost 3 years with no problems and will keep it for backup unlike my husband who has the i pad and has had to change his out 4 times in 2 years. PROS:great screen, awesome camera. Lots of different apps. Bigger screen but do not make any bigger. Lots of new camera features. Sound is clear even though I prefer the speakers on the side. Charger is now on the side so you can close your cover now while charging. Unlike the competition, you can add a micro sd card. CONS: pricey, doesn't come with a booklet of directions like the Tab 2 10.1 did. They want you to take a class like Apple, poor decision on Samsung's part. Speakers moved to the back of the tab now instead of the front. Pricey to add addition warranty. Over all I think I will like it and hopefully love it like my Galaxy 2 10.1

Like It - but there are a few negatives

I own 2 Ipads and an iPad mini so I'm not new to tablets.. I wanted a large screen tablet and this fit the bill just perfectly. First, let me say that it's not too heavy. I have no difficulty holding the Tab Pro in the palm of my hand as I use it with my other hand. The screen is absolutely outstanding - sharp and bright. WiFi is excellent. Some negatives I feel I need to mention: battery life is barely adequate at best. Needs to be recharged after about 6 hours of continuous use and charging takes several hours to complete. The keyboard often "sticks" requiring certain keys be pressed again to register. Not nearly as fluid as the Ipad. Screen touch is ultra sensitive to a fault requiring frequent back stepping to get back to where you were if you aren't careful where you place your fingers. I'v had the tablet several months now and I'm beginning to see some lag in the processing. I'll clean out the cache (for each program) to see if there's an improvement. Too many open programs will likely slow the unit down. If you're new to an android system as I am, it would be adviseable to print the rather lengthy manual. There's alot to know to use the plethora of features this tablet offers. There are no user guides available yet, as far as I know. Would I buy it all over again? I would say YES but would probably wait to see what the Ipad for 2015 offers, and at what price (not that the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 would be much less expensive).

The best and themost powerful tablet on the market

I owned an iPad 2 16gb Wi-Fi before I bought my Tab Pro 12.2 (Which I'll call Tab from now on). My Tab blows it so far out of the water, it may as well not exist. It even gives my Dell laptop a run for its money (which sounds sad, I know). This is honestly the most powerful tablet on the market, by far (it and its twin brother, the Note 12.2, which doesn't differ at all except for the addition of the S-Pen stylus. IMHO, for $100 extra, it just isn't worth it. Its 2014. Who still uses styluses?) The Tab and Note both have octa-core processors (in layman's terms, that means they have 8 cores. 4 are 1.9gigahertz, 4 are 1.3gigahertz. That's a lotta hertz.) However, only 4 will be tasked at any time. However, this still means you can run up to 4 apps without a drop in framerate or slowdown. I ran Youtube, Facebook, the Video app and a document editor at the same time, and it ran flawlessly. It also flawlessly supports a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, so you can use this much like a laptop. Add a USB 2.0 to USB adapter, and you can attach flash drives and transfer files. It has a 8mp rear camera, 2mp front facing camera. I wouldn't use this as a camera, except to use the front facing for Skype calls. Using the rear one honestly will not look rite. Your phone has a camera, use that. The screen looks amazing. At 2560x1600 resolution, its not super-ultra-mega sharp, but at 247ppi, its pretty good. It still looks incredible. It has expandable storage for up to 64gb, with 32gb internal storage. That means for an extra $20-$30, you basically have a tablet with 96gb of storage. iPad can't do that. Thats why I have to say it again this is definitely by far The best and the most powerful tablet on the market today. That's why I am very glad that I bought this instead of an iPad.

I also have a ASUS T700 tablet that is two years old. The Samsung is a bit faster because of the processor and more memory but not a huge difference. The screen is very good but no better than the ASUS other than larger. The big screen was my main reason for getting it. I am a musician and use my tablets to hold music charts (sheet music) for performance. The 10" size is OK but the 12" size is closer to the size of real music sheets and a bit easier to read. I do miss the expandability that the ASUS has...it has (when used with its docking keyboard) a USB port, a HDMI port, a Micro SD port and a regular SD card port. I can duplicate most of this by using accessory Samsung cable adaptors that all plug into the one proprietary port but not as neat or convenient. The speakers are stereo and very good and plenty loud. The latest Android system is fine although there is a Google issue that they have adopted that can limit saving of files to the micro SD card in some cases. Apps are coming out with work arounds but that is not Samsungs problem.

Been using a Samsung Tablet 10.2 for over 4 years, and wanted to move to a new Tablet - As I have had zero issues with my current model, Samsung had a head start. Consumer Reports and a large number of independent reviews. I got a great price and free shipping so I purchased the Pro 12.2 - Night and Day, the performance , display resolution, larger screen make the 12.2 my go to mobile device. Use it for everything from reading magazines to watching movies. Really great product.

This tablet rocks! I expected this to be a bit bulky due to its size but it feels really comfortable in my hands. I absolutely love the clarity of the screen. Truly beautiful. And fast. My last tablet couldn't hold a candle to this one. I love that I'm able to have multiple apps open at one time. Really makes getting things done a whole lot easier. I use it for gaming and writing and thus far have not been disappointed. It's a solid product.

This is the perfect tablet for me. I have an iPad air, but I don't like it as much as the Samsung Galaxy Tab. This tablet has so many features and is so easy to use! I like the larger size tablet, because the bigger screen makes it easier to do work when I travel. If you like a smaller screen, the Galaxy tab comes in a 10.1 and a 7.1 as well. I cannot say enough good things about this tablet!!!!
