    Great Tablet

Performance is fantastic. The only reason I give it 3 stars is, it seems like randomly, the battery drains while in sleep mode. I've purchased a couple different Samsung tablets with the same issue. When it's on, it's great! But to find it completely dead after being in sleep mode a few hrs takes the shine off of it for me. -Ted

Pros: 1. size 2. weight 3. cost Cons: 1. in qwerty mode my palms by thumb tend to hit Return and Task Manager icons, had to by a case much like a phone to prevent this. 2. WiFi is shaky. search internet for this issue (Samsung tab dropping wifi) and there are a lot of hits. WiFi chip could be inferior, could be engineered poorly (location in tab). Samsung response is to "forget" network and enter it manually... this gets old. OK if I set right next to router though!

First off I purchased this tablet for 199 at bestbuy. I think the regular price of 299 is too high. The processor is super fast... but I wish they would have put in 3gb of ram instead of the 2 that it has. The tablet does freeze on occasion and the only remedy is to wait for it to unfreeze which takes about 15 seconds. This freezing happens when viewing pictures on apps; tumblr, Facebook, etc. Other then that, the screen is great. Tablet works fine with games and viewing videos. As a comic ready it really shines. Even though it only has a lcd screen, the colors are crisp and vibrant. If the tab s is 50 bucks more than the pro 8.4 then I would gladly go with the Tab s as it has the 3gb of ram to go along with a amoled screen. The screen on my pro is lcd which is still good. Like I said for 199 it's a good tablet...anything more then I think it's not worth the price.

I wrote a review on this already but it got sent off before I finished it. I love Samsung but this being my second tablet I expected it to last as long as the first one. Not so. Before 2 years was up it went bad. When it got down to 50% battery it would shut down. If I tried to start it back up it would keep shutting off. So I would have to charge to 100% each time so when I got down to 50% I knew it would shut down. My daughter's Samsung tablet started doing the same thing. So we both quit using them. Now I just do everything on my Samsung phone.

    Great Hardware, Terrible Software

I am an Android developer, but ironically I don't use an Android device for anything else. This was my attempt to get 'into' the platform more intimately. Hardware-wise it is really nice. The high resolution makes for a great display and it seems to have more than enough speed and memory. I will point out I HATE trying to hold this thing. There are two ways to hold it: A tight claw-grip from behind or carefully grasping it from the bottom. The first method is hard to do for a while and the second almost ALWAYS presses one of the touch buttons along the bottom and exists the app I'm in. SO frustrating. Unfortunately it had a huge layer of Samsung junk on it which took a lot of effort to remove. Also, so far I'm pretty disappointed with Android software. I have all this hardware and almost nothing I can do with it. Out of the box it had huge problems. The battery would run down overnight, it would keep turning itself on, endless annoying sound effects, etc. It took many hours of tinkering and browsing around to get it to a usable state. Definitely not something I would ever buy for someone non-technical, so unfortunately I can't recommend it in general. I only want it for development and reading books. And that seems to be all it's good for. Especially if Samsung never gets around to updating the OS.

Got in sale for $200. The device works. It is cool to have split screen. The device is reliable, it does not crash. The size of ther apps are not proportional to the 8.4 inch screen. Not sure why Samsung did that. The battery is average. 16 GB memory is not sufficient even with the SD card. Apps can take up too much of the memory. For $200 it is a good bargain deal. The best thing about the device are the color brightness and the resolution. The aspect ratio of the device is not as good as the Nexus 9 or the Ipad devices.

I bought this tablet because I have a Samsung Galaxy phone and really like it. I have an Amazon Fire tablet and was thinking about getting a new one when I made my decision on buying the Galaxy Tab Pro. I now wish that I had bought a new Fire. Why I bought the Pro was for the Word Processor capabilities and other features. Well after a few weeks I started having problems charging it. I talked to an individual at Best Buy and she told me that since I didn't buy the Best Buy protection plan I had to deal with Samsung Co. They told me that I had 14 days to return the product and it was past that time. When I purchased the tablet they said nothing about the return policy being 14 days. I thought on electronic devices that it was 30 days. She by the way was not very nice! So went back to Best Buy talked to an person with Geek squad (he was very nice) but to no avail. Best Buy would do nothing. I buy just about everything there, printers, printer ink, desktop, lap top etc. Now I will think twice or I will make sure and buy the Geek protection. So Be Ware You have just 2 weeks to take electronics back if you don't by their protection plans. Otherwise you are on you own!

I bought this product because it has a larger screen than my phone so I can check email and use it for smart glass and browse the Internet. I don't like the amount of bloat ware that is pre-installed on the device.

I purchased this tablet for use when I'm traveling. Primary purpose was to view downloaded movies when on an airplane and to access the web & email. I purchased a couple of movies through the play store and watched them during my last trip. While the image/display is great, the movie would often "pixelate" (digital blocks appearing) during playback. I took this tablet back to Best Buy and a Samsung representative confirmed my specific unit had that problem. Unfortunately, there was nothing in the knowledge base regarding a solution. It was recommended that I return this tablet since the problem could not be fixed at the store (they tried upgrading the firmware, setting back to factory defaults, etc.). Since there were no more of this specific model available I cannot say whether this was a problem with my individual unit or the model itself.

Screen quality was awesome, but Android lags horribly to apple when it comes to quality tablet apps. A lot of apps just look like blown up mobile phone apps. The proportions of the tablet are also a con compared to Apple. I much prefer apples aspect ratio compared to android, as I enjoy using a tablet in portrait mode to read news etc. After a few days, the tablet was returned.

I am a new tablet user but I find this tablet to be as advertised. Friends recommended it to me. I will not try to pretend that I am an expert. I love the screen quality and the ease of navigating. Would have loved it to come with a separate USB port to be able to maintain the battry's charge at the same time that I am watching a game and/or a movie, but I can't ask for more for the price.

I got this as a replacement for a Nexus 7 I cracked the glass on, but was no longer available. It is a decent tablet, meeting all the general needs - good display, speed, etc. My biggest gripe is not hardware-based, but rather a growing dislike for Samsung's ham-handed approach to their suite of apps and the requirement to make an account and accept their terms (which I find unacceptable). I will be going back to Nexus with my next tablet, and anything but Samsung for my next phone. I'd only recommend this to someone who is already in the Samsung fold and isn't concerned with their "privacy" agreement or other terms.

I like my table but the one thing I didn't take in consideration was the internal storage capacity that was to little for a proper tablet. It fills to soon. If your looking into buying a table make sure it has a least 32GB internal storage and 2GB RAM.

This tablet is sharp looking with a great screen. It's very fast and was able to watch 4 hours of movies on a plane and it used 50% battery. After about 6 months it went into an endless reset loop and had to be restored to factory settings.

Good Tablet with a few small glitches

I was really excited to get this tablet to replace my older Kindle. Kinda wish I had gotten the new Kindle instead. I'm not sure if it's just that I'm used to the Kindle or glitches with the tablet but it seems to load a little slow. It also zooms in on EVERYTHING and I have gone through every possible setting. The spell correct and word prediction is really bad. I had to shut it off because when I started to type a word and it didn't recognize the word, it just chose some other word and plugged it in. Even when I typed out the word I wanted, if it didn't recognize it and I hit the space bar, it chose some other word and replaced the one I had typed. Again, me or the tablet? Not sure, but annoying if it's the tablet. Good price for Black Friday but not thrilled. Hubby LOVES his. He is a non Kindle user....

I loved the unit when I got it, especially the brilliant display. Unfortunately this open box unit quit on me in less than three weeks. It worked great until that point. It suddenly stopped powering up or when it did it wouldn't respond at all. This was a geek-squad certified open box unit, so perhaps the fault lies with the geek-squad for not properly checking it out for defects. Bought a Tab S instead and so far so good. I would recommend it but make sure you buy a new one, or at least a factory recertified one. I don't trust the geek squad anymore.

It's ok. I'm so used to my iproducts that going to Samsung isn't a good choice. I wish I did a return on this item. It's possible I'll like it better the more I use it. Plus, it's hard to find cases:-/
