I bought this tablet yesterday - 2016 model (SM-T713 - less expensive, better processor and should provide improved battery life over 2015 model). I am thrilled enough with this tablet to take time to write a review. The screen clarity is stunning - terrific resolution, color and brightness, and color and brightness can be adjusted to personal taste. It is just the right size for portability and reading, e-mail, web surfing, texting (yes, you can send/receive texts from it with an app such as "mysms" available via the Google Play store). This tablet is thin, fast, light and nicely designed. I love the fingerprint reader! I was surprised by how well it works (as well as on an iPad Mini 3). The 4:3 aspect ratio of this tablet is really preferable when doing everything but watching movies, and movies still look beautiful on it. You just get the letterbox effect with widescreen movies (black lines above and below), which is a compromise for movie watching but not a deal breaker. It runs the latest Android operating system (provides better battery life and is current for now) and supports dual band wireless ac (fastest WiFi). It works great on my fast 5GHz WiFi network unlike my other two tablets. I feel that this tablet is perfect in every way for my needs except the speaker volume is too low and somewhat tinny sounding for my taste. The workaround is to connect a bluetooth speaker or use headphones when volume and sound quality are important. Other than the sound being lower than I would like, I have nothing negative to say about it. It doesn't claim to support Miracast, a connectivity method I prefer since that creates its own WiFi network between two devices and doesn't require an Internet connection. That is especially convenient when in a hotel and watching a movie on the TV that has been downloaded to the tablet. I will test that, but various other options are available that allow the tablet to connect to a TV, projector or other device. That is not a deal breaker either (and it might work). Choosing a tablet is really very subjective, but this is as close to perfect as they come for my intended purposes. It should be a reliable, quality product that provides a lot of use and enjoyment.

This is one of the best tablets I've ever owned. From the build quality to Android functionality, it's great. The tablet is incredibly thin and lightweight but doesn't feel cheaply made. The 4.3 aspect ratio of the screen is great for anyone considering transitioning from an iPad. The power, volume, and home buttons are easy to press. The back of the tablet is slightly rubberized to that it doesn't slip out of your hands. The screen bezel is very thin so the display area is maximized. The screen itself is great. Very bright, produces vivid colors, and is great for watching HD videos on NetFlix or YouTube. Game play is good as well. The octa-core Exynos processor seems to be handling games (Asphalt 8 and Carrier Landings Pro) just fine. Android Marshmallow (v.6) runs very smooth with no lag. Android 6 supports multi tasking through split screen but not all apps are supported. I usually root my tablets and install custom firmware, but this table runs Android M so well there really isn't any need. I've been running the tablet for about 2 months now and I haven't run into any app force close issues. If you're looking for a tablet that is fast, stable, thin, and lightweight, the Samsung Tab S2 fits the bill.

I wanted to upgrade from an iPad Mini 3 for a while, and since Apple seems to be in no hurry to update their Mini line (other than barely updated Mini 4), I decided to look at competitors. I already have an Android phone, so OS was not a factor to me, however as a tablet, I do think now that Android is better option due to its customization and flexibility. Now my tablet feels more like a tiny computer rather than an oversized iPod Touch. Not to hardware. It's Samsung so the build quality is outstanding. I got a Samsung branded book cover for it and it uses a very cool connection system where you don't see any parts of the cover anywhere around your tablet, leaving it minimalistic yet protecting the device well. Screen is the same resolution as iPad Mini, but somehow I can see pixels on Galaxy when I couldn't see them on an iPad. At the same time the screen is much brighter with better colors. Performance of the tablet is flawless, it does everything effortlessly and quickly, can't complain there. Wi-Fi feels stronger, I get much better reception in parts of my house where iPad Mini was struggling. Fingerprint scanner is super quick, probably about the same as iPad's though. Now here is where it loses one star. Battery life. It's not bad by any means, but I'm comparing it as if I was deciding between Galaxy and iPad Mini. iPad has a better battery life as far as I can tell. No tests were done here, just feels like I have to plug the Galaxy in much more frequently than the iPad. Overall I'm very happy with this tablet. Unfortunately there are not too many high end Android options when it gets to tablets, but this Galaxy might be about the best overall tablet on the market right now. iPad Mini is still a very good product, but if you're serious about your computing and want to have something more than just a social media and gaming machine, you owe it to yourself to give a Galaxy Tab S2 a try.

This is a very zippy tablet with ample system space and beautiful display. Under heavy use, it does get a little warm as well as drains battery rather quickly. For example, if making Skype video calls you can chew through a battery in about 2 hours. If 50/50 sleep and active use, I get about 8-10 hours battery life. I use mainly O365 (a lot of eMail and Outlook), Skype for Business, Twitter, XFinity WiFi app and ESET Mobile Security daily, and occasional Google apps like Maps, Search, YouTube, etc. The cameras are average image quality and the speakers are fairly small and poor so plan to use earbuds for some functionality. I was hoping to use as a car GPS but even max volume is not very distinguishable in a car setting. The GPS does work fantastic and the Wifi is great. GPS acquires position quickly and handles interference (bridges, overpasses, tunnels) well and the WiFi gets a strong, solid, fast signal even with weak or far access points. Construction is solid. No concerns in my pocket getting in and out of cars, chairs, etc. as it does not flex and built strong. Light drops are fine too. Screen is bright, wonderful color and amazing contrast. The screen is also very strong and incredibly scratch resistant. Cat game tested and polydactyl cat approved with NO scratches after rigorous fish and mouse scratching high-scores. Touch screen/tactile feel is above average. Lighter taps have good reponse. Swipe and gestures are positive with little error even initially. Price point is a bit high, especially given it's a 3GB RAM memory device with 2kx1.5k display, but the 32GB system storage is spacious.. so look for sales.

First of all, I like the size and feel of this Tablet. That is the good. The bad is the fact that I, along with many others, have lot's of issues trying to connect to certain wifi. I can connect at home, but cannot connect at my workplace on the open wifi provided by my employer. When it does connect, it disconnects often, and usually does not reconnect. As this is happening, I check the wifi settings and it says that I am connected, but none of my apps will work. I spent an hour with a useless chat and went thru the usual garbage and got nowhere. When I look at all of the other users having this same issue, things like "reset to factory", "manually set up wifi", "reset the time and date", "change routers" etc are what I see. I did not pay $350 for a tablet, and expect that in this day and age, I would have to do anything except turn it on and connect. I owned an Ipad 2 for over 6 years and never had one problem with it. I just decided to try the Android system. Along with the connectivity issue, I guess I am just an Apple user at heart, and am hoping that after the 31 days I have owned, this, that I can get it returned to Best Buy and get another Ipad.

    My First Android Tablet

I recently switched to Android products after being a fan of the "other" company for years. I now have an android phone and this tablet was my first Android tablet and I love it. I was worried about learning a new operating system but my fears were easily waylaid after just a few days with this tablet. The eight inch screen is just right for me and is crystal clear and bright. It's also very light and easy to handle. It works like a charm and I've had no problems with it. I only get about two days of battery life out of it which is a lot less than my old tablet from the "other" company but then I'm almost constantly using it so it was to be expected. The best thing about a Samsung tablet (as well as their phone) is the fact that even though the internal memory isn't that big (32 or 64 GB), you can add a large capacity MicroSD card that increases the memory greatly. This is much cheaper than paying an extra $100 for every step up in memory with the products from the "other" company. It also makes the tablets and phones cheaper in price. I'm just sorry I waited so long to wise up and go the Android route.

I bought a Samsung Tab S a long time ago, and have the S5 phone. A just to give you some background. PROS: This tablet has a few things going for it. It is a super power in the tablet niche. The processor and ram are top notch. The screen resolution is great! The weight is phenomenal, so freaking light. 8" is a perfect size. CONS: The multi window is bunk... total bunk. It's not like the old samung where you can just pull it over on any app you are doing. It only works with Samsung approved apps... that's a HUGE no... One thing I always liked was being able to pull up Google on any app without closing it. Spend $400+ on a tab you expect some good stuff. There is no vibration or flashlight as well. Seriously Samsung, it's bigger than a phone, make it at least as good if not better... 3 star, simply because Samsung went cheapo on this and still wants a premium price. Not going to buy another Samsung unless they get their act together.

Waited through the first few generations of Android tabs to let the manufacturers work some of the bugs out, and the 8.0 Galaxy Tablet sparked my interest due to the 4:3 aspect ratio screen for zoom/pinch-free reading. Aside from the lack of vibrate function, and slightly odd stereo speaker placement (bottom edge) I've been pretty impressed by it's speed and capability. Does drain battery somewhat quickly under heavy workload or with brightness adjusted very high - as I would expect, but unless using it in direct outdoor sunlight, the brightness level doesn't need to be set very high at all. Even at 50%, this screen is VERY bright and colorful, and turned up over 75%, almost blindingly so! Also, for those who travel or actively use their tablet for work, etc., as I do, this size is fantastic. It's small enough to be compact for fitting in a large pullover hoodie pocket or backpack pocket (and weighs next to nothing), yet large enough for reading e-books *comfortably* one-handed, without the dreaded "phone reading strain" on the eyes. Nice for media / light gaming in landscape mode with some headphones, as well. Very good so far.

Coming from an old Asus tablet, I wanted something compact so I can take on the go for reading and media consumption but still high end enough to where I can count on it being a great tablet for several years. Unfortunately the Tab S3 is a little out of my price range, but the Tab S2 is still a very capable tablet that can handle everything you throw at it. The screen is beautiful, the tablet is now running Android 7.0 and is small enough so you can take it with you to read or watch movies or tv shows. And if you are worried about the 4:3 aspect ratio, I can tell you that I was too but after awhile those black bars just disappear. I would HIGHLY Recommend this tablet to anyone. My one and only complaint about this tablet is the battery life. I understand because the tablet is so thin you need to make sacrifices somewhere, but at 4000 mah, its only slightly bigger than my Galaxy S7 edge and with constant use, you can expect about 5-6 hours of battery life. Keep this in mind, but don't let it being the only thing that turns you away from this tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is an excellent tablet that is built very well and performs great. The screen is captivating and it's weight makes it a pleasure to hold. I can say after a month of heavy use the tab s2 is still extremely fast and fluid running Android 6.0.1. There are only two problems I have with the tablet. First and biggest issue is the sound. It has only one speaker that is weak and underpowered, at least in comparison to the ipad mini 4. I believe all tablets should have two front facing speakers. It just works best and doesn't seem to difficult or expensive to do. The second and only other gripe I have is although I like holding it because of it's size and weight it's bezel isn't as rounded as the ipad mini 4 and it bothers my hand when holding it certain ways. Overall I think this is a great tablet and would highly recommend it.

I just got this little thingy, I had an Ipad Gen4 which I gave to my brother as I wanted to badly break of the APPLE YUGO! I hate how controlling and hover like they are. I had a to jump trough hoops to get my ipad clean so that my brother would get a "clean brand new" device. I am a galaxy fan and I am a droider as well, love the versatility , hands on, and all options this platform offers. I wanted a change so I went with the small tablet 8" it is small but I have big hands! so it is a perfect fit even with the little fold cover I bought for it, I am used to Droid, it came with droid 6 but today of all day I got updated to Droid 7 Nougat which I like a lot as I've been using it on my S8+ so now I kind of have the same. Processor is fast, all functions and feel its like my phone now I can actually pair my phone and manage and make calls from the pad if my phone is in another room (yep you can do that if you have Galaxy phone) Image crisp, clear, super light weight and its the "highest"end tablet before the new Tab S3 SO FAR SO GOOD!

This is a great 8 in tablet for the money. Provides a good user experience if you are looking for an 8 in tab with great pic quality. It's good for music, videos, reading and surfing the internet. Don't expect it to be a workhorse. It's just a fun little tab for specific users. It does lack in sound quality so make sure you have some good headphones. Battery life is good as long as brightness isn't all the way up. Mine does have issues staying connecting to the wifi. It seems to drop the wifi and pick it back up only a few seconds later. It is frustrating and hope it's just mine. I know it's not my wifi bc none of my other 10-12 devices have issues. Samsung usually produces good quality electronics and I am definitely a fan. I also like Apple devices but I'm definitely not a fan boy. I'm just a fan of good quality electronics from companies that put pride into their work. I would recommend only if you need a fun little device to do a little Netflix and other things that do not require a larger screen or more horsepower.

I was going back and forth as to whether I wanted a iPad Mini4 or this tab s2. I wanted something that could replace my kindle for reading but do more than a kindle is capable of. Whenever I used my kindle for anything other than reading, it reminded me of how bad Amazon's owe android version is and I wanted a device with good android or full apple. I could not get the deal I wanted on the ipad so I jumped on the savings I was going to get on this Samsung. I love it. It has been a great experience and is very responsive. I have only played a few games but it works well and does not seem to stall out or show signs of hiccups that sometimes happens with these devices if they cannot keep up with the graphics requirements. I would recommend this device to others.

I bought this item because I needed an Android tablet before taking a trip and couldn't wait for an item from an online vendor to be delivered. Samsung units are very expensive compared to similar items from Huwawai and Asus and there's no real difference... except both Asus and Huwawai have USB C connectors vs. the USB micro on the Samsung and that translates to slower charging. The amount of bloatware and spyware that Samsung installs compared to stock Android is just horrible. I wish Samsung allowed for a "revert to stock Android" option because the stuff that's installed is completely unnecessary. I factory reset my Samsung tablet and am using it as a "burner" but I will not put sensitive data on it given the amount of Samsung stuff running on the unit. If the Pixel C had a fingerprint reader, that'd be the best choice. The Asus has a less intrusive set of software and is a lot less expensive.

My iPad 3 was getting unbearably slow, so I bought the Galaxy tab S2 to replace it. The performance is perfect, no more delays, and the OLED screen is amazing - reason enough to buy it. This tablet is incredibly thin and light, even with the matching case. You won't even notice it in your bag. The 8" screen works much better than a 7" screen for viewing websites due to the more square aspect ratio. There is almost no advantage when watching movies, however, because the 7" screen is more of a wide screen, so the 8" just displays black bars above/below the movie. Android also has advantages over iOS, like a back button, a button that allows you to swap between apps without double clicking the home button, and a keyboard that contains letters and numbers at the same time - much easier for typing passwords! The only downside for me is that the battery life on the Galaxy Tab S2 does not reach Samsung's spec. It does, however, still last longer than I should be playing on a tablet on any given day.

As far as tablets are concerned, I've only had IPads. While I really enjoy my IPad, it does lack in some areas. For starters, the expandable memory slot for an SD card. This is probably one of the best features compared to the IPad. Even if your trying to save a few $$$, you can buy a 32 gig Samsung and add a 256 gig SD card for extra storage. Another great feature of this Samsung S2 is the ability to connect to you computer to transfer files, photos, etc. easily. With Apple, I find their software difficult to navigate and not as flexible as the Samsung interface. We bought this S2 for a young man for a graduation gift. He really loved it and thanks us every time we see him! But I did learn one thing with all the research I did before deciding between the Apple IPad and the Samsung S2, that I was really impressed with the Samsung features and flexibility, when we need to replace our Apple devices, we will be buying Samsung. Great product.

I first bought the Tab A 8 and wasn't impressed with the screen. Went and upgraded to this tablet (S2) two days later and have set it up to perfection. I've tried streaming videos on it on Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Youtube. Even adjusting the colours via "Display" under Settings, I still find the screen to have a green-ish tinge that is bothersome, the HD not looking so HD - even when all the apps are set to HD. There's something very over-saturated, yet washed-out about the screen, compared to my Moto X phone (2013), my Toshiba Laptop (2015), and Nexus 5X phone (2016)...all of which have much crisper, clearer displays compared to this one. I've watched many online reviews and read comments, and while the tablet is nice and smooth in action, the battery drops down rather quickly, the sound is tin-ny for a device with 2 speakers, and the price just doesn't warrant the product. Probably returning it for a Fire HD. Samsung screens are often hit/miss, from my experience.

I decided to go with the S2 after my three year old iPad Air 2's battery began to die. I've had iPads and iPhones forever now and have become tired with OS10. Right off the bay, I'm blown away by the crisp OLED display. Blacks look amazing with none of the blotching that I've seen on some OLEDs. Text is sharp and colors pop. Even tiny text is easy to read. The 8" size is perfect. It's about the size and shape of the iPad mini but thinner and lighter. I'm not a fan of the rubberized back, but it's in a case, so no problem. The speakers are on one end, so they aren't very loud unless you cup your hand to redirect the sound toward you. Performance is amazing, thanks to an 8-core processor and 3GB of ram. It was running Marshmallow out of the box. Samsung is not known for their quick updates, so I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll probably never see Android N on here and will be happily surprised if it happens.

What can I say? I have owned 8 or more Samsung tablets so far plus many more of their phones. I am a big Samsung fan, but man this unit and maybe the product line is a failure. It is crashes non stop. I have sent it in 4 times to samsung and it is getting worse each tine. Now it can't even do a factory reset successfully. I bought the 9.7 inch to use while the 8 inch goes back and forth to samsung. It also reboots without warning. I am running the same apps on my old note 4 and it does not crash. I have no hope that samsung will get the 8 inch unit fixed and they duck the issue of replacement. DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS PRODUCT LINE. IT IS NOT RELIABLE AND SAMSUNG DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO OR CARE ENOUGH TO FIX IT. I will just keep sending it back to them. FYI I just got it back tonight. Right out of the box failed to do the factory reset. Very sad Samsung you are able to do better then this.
