Pros - gorgeous AMOLED screen, fast CPU, lightweight Cons - battery life, sound I definitely recommend this tablet if you like to have an amazing screen. Videos and movies look amazing on it. Only bad thing about the device is the speakers are terrible and battery doesn't last that long.

very good tablet... the screen is nice and bright with vivid colors. the built-in speakers are a little weak, only slightly louder than my Galaxy S8 phone's speakers. 4:3 screen takes a little getting used to. will probably try to find a 16:9 screen tablet next time.

Called the model S2, should be called the S1/2. Form factor too wide to hold comfortably. Aspect ratio poor for widescreen movies. Speaker location poor for movies. Data lacking for photo details.

Excellent Tablet. A real Android competitor to the iPad mini (unfortunately in price as well). Love the fact that it has an expansion slot, it is very practical and goes beyond just storage expansion. The only thing that is not great and was mentioned by other reviewers is the built-in speakers are weak, not in quality, but in available volume. But, if you use headphones you'd never know.

My older samsung tablet went bad so I had to upgrade to a newer one. This is just like my old one just a little smaller and thinner witch isn't bad. I did think about getting the bigger tablet but for another 200.00 I will pass on it. Screen has a great picture I did watch movies on it when I was on a road trip and the sun glare wasn't to bad with the screen. Speakers could be a little better and louder.

Only Thing Better Is The Size

Replaced my Galaxy Tab S, which I unfortunately shattered the screen on, with the Tab S2. Besides the change in size (which I love), everything else is a downgrade. Screen is nowhere near as responsive, speakers are worse, battery life is worse and there was nothing exciting added to the software. They didn't even include blue light filter which my Galaxy S7 Edge has (nor have they updated the software to include it and that's the one thing I was looking forward to as I read more on my tablet than my phone). If is your first tablet, you may love it. I'm just having buyer's remorse as I would have expected the next in line of S tablets to have been a huge upgrade.

Purchased the Galaxy S2 9.7 to replace a 4 year old Motorola 10 inch tablet. After using the Samsung for a couple of days I am disappointed in the performance of the product. I think the price of this tablet should be closer to $75.00 and not $399.00. The apps are slow to open and the touch screen has a bit of lag to it. The speakers are poorly placed and the sound quality is extremely bad...very tinny. I will be returning this tablet to Best Buy this weekend.

I loved my iPad air 2 while in school but now that I don't need the keyboard case, this is the PERFECT size. I can type on this without changing my grip and it's much nicer to browse the web and watch videos on this rather than my galaxy S6. Love the customizability you get with Android as well. Apple works well with school work, but for everything else ( especially as a media consumption device) Android is king and at 8.0 this is much more manageable one handed. Decent battery life, exceptional screen - only negative is that the speakers at max are about 60-70% as loud as the iPad air 2. That is an easy price to pay though for all the bonuses.

Good but not great. This tablet is middle of the road for Samsung. It will do some things well and other functions are lacking. Speaker and sound is not all that great. For music and movies expect to have the volume turned up. Basic web viewing and other simple apps will work fine.

Great size, great screen, amazing battery life. This makes my endless hours of cardio fly by. I'm on this everyday keeping entertained while performing mindless cardio. Also has saved my sanity in numerous flights. I use this for music while cooking. I like the smaller size for traveling, especially when packed into the bags of my motorcycle. Only downfall is wimpy speakers but I'm using headphones or a Bluetooth speaker 99% if the time so it's ok. If you want an Android tablet going with tht S series is with it for the extra processing power and storage.

For the price, really there aren't many things wrong. The few things I can think of are the location of the controls interfere when in landscape mode and the speakers are pretty poor with low volume capability. Tends to get warm in the upper right side in portrait mode as appoint of reference. Now what's great- the Screen is to die for. Blacks are black and colors look awesome. I regret that I didn't get the larger screen. Speed is good with little lag. Latest version of Android is nice. Battery life is decent. Not too bad at the $299 price.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is an excellent tablet that is built very well and performs great. The screen is captivating and it's weight makes it a pleasure to hold. I can say after a month of heavy use the tab s2 is still extremely fast and fluid running Android 6.0.1. There are only two problems I have with the tablet. First and biggest issue is the sound. It has only one speaker that is weak and underpowered, at least in comparison to the ipad mini 4. I believe all tablets should have two front facing speakers. It just works best and doesn't seem to difficult or expensive to do. The second and only other gripe I have is although I like holding it because of it's size and weight it's bezel isn't as rounded as the ipad mini 4 and it bothers my hand when holding it certain ways. Overall I think this is a great tablet and would highly recommend it.

I bought this tablet yesterday - 2016 model (SM-T713 - less expensive, better processor and should provide improved battery life over 2015 model). I am thrilled enough with this tablet to take time to write a review. The screen clarity is stunning - terrific resolution, color and brightness, and color and brightness can be adjusted to personal taste. It is just the right size for portability and reading, e-mail, web surfing, texting (yes, you can send/receive texts from it with an app such as "mysms" available via the Google Play store). This tablet is thin, fast, light and nicely designed. I love the fingerprint reader! I was surprised by how well it works (as well as on an iPad Mini 3). The 4:3 aspect ratio of this tablet is really preferable when doing everything but watching movies, and movies still look beautiful on it. You just get the letterbox effect with widescreen movies (black lines above and below), which is a compromise for movie watching but not a deal breaker. It runs the latest Android operating system (provides better battery life and is current for now) and supports dual band wireless ac (fastest WiFi). It works great on my fast 5GHz WiFi network unlike my other two tablets. I feel that this tablet is perfect in every way for my needs except the speaker volume is too low and somewhat tinny sounding for my taste. The workaround is to connect a bluetooth speaker or use headphones when volume and sound quality are important. Other than the sound being lower than I would like, I have nothing negative to say about it. It doesn't claim to support Miracast, a connectivity method I prefer since that creates its own WiFi network between two devices and doesn't require an Internet connection. That is especially convenient when in a hotel and watching a movie on the TV that has been downloaded to the tablet. I will test that, but various other options are available that allow the tablet to connect to a TV, projector or other device. That is not a deal breaker either (and it might work). Choosing a tablet is really very subjective, but this is as close to perfect as they come for my intended purposes. It should be a reliable, quality product that provides a lot of use and enjoyment.

This is a very zippy tablet with ample system space and beautiful display. Under heavy use, it does get a little warm as well as drains battery rather quickly. For example, if making Skype video calls you can chew through a battery in about 2 hours. If 50/50 sleep and active use, I get about 8-10 hours battery life. I use mainly O365 (a lot of eMail and Outlook), Skype for Business, Twitter, XFinity WiFi app and ESET Mobile Security daily, and occasional Google apps like Maps, Search, YouTube, etc. The cameras are average image quality and the speakers are fairly small and poor so plan to use earbuds for some functionality. I was hoping to use as a car GPS but even max volume is not very distinguishable in a car setting. The GPS does work fantastic and the Wifi is great. GPS acquires position quickly and handles interference (bridges, overpasses, tunnels) well and the WiFi gets a strong, solid, fast signal even with weak or far access points. Construction is solid. No concerns in my pocket getting in and out of cars, chairs, etc. as it does not flex and built strong. Light drops are fine too. Screen is bright, wonderful color and amazing contrast. The screen is also very strong and incredibly scratch resistant. Cat game tested and polydactyl cat approved with NO scratches after rigorous fish and mouse scratching high-scores. Touch screen/tactile feel is above average. Lighter taps have good reponse. Swipe and gestures are positive with little error even initially. Price point is a bit high, especially given it's a 3GB RAM memory device with 2kx1.5k display, but the 32GB system storage is spacious. . so look for sales.
