Hi I got this tablet for my wife to replace her laptop. With the keyboard, it works great. She is able to do so much with the Pen that was included. Highly recommend it

the samsung tab S4 is a great tool to have for every day use. the battery life is great, and it has a quick and clean response when using the pen or just your finger.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is the newest 10.5-inch tablet that is a powerful lightweight device with included pen that is upgradable with a keyboard/cover. While I found the tablet alone to be an outstanding premium featured tablet, I highly recommend the addition of the keyboard for those who want to get the most out of the new cutting edge and useful features that Samsung has incorporated into the build. Prior to receiving the device, I was not sure how I felt about having a tablet device with both a keyboard and pen. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was “converted” into a fan of the keyboard and pen. Samsung has done a tremendous job in transforming the Galaxy Tab S4 into a “Laptop Killer” even though it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo. With the addition of Samsung DeX, the Tab S4 provides a desktop style environment and improved multitasking with individual windows. My past experience with my 6th generation iPad Air 2 and other older tablets, I would find myself using these more for email, web browsing, and gaming. However, when I needed to conduct various other types of activities that involved keyboard use, I found myself switching over to my personal computer or laptop to complete these tasks. I was pleasantly surprised that this was no longer necessary with the Tab S4 and I was able to utilize the keyboard and/or pen to quickly accomplish these tasks. Aesthetically, the Galaxy Tab S4 is a well-designed tablet that feels solid even though it is thin and lightweight. It measures only 7.1mm thick and weighs a mere 482 grams (1.06 pounds) so it definitely passes as lightweight. It has a glass back and front and seems very well-balanced no matter how you pick it up. It seems well-made and I was happy to learn that Samsung used “Gorilla Glass” to help prevent accidental cracked or scratched screens. This helps to eliminate the need for a protective cover on your glass screen. Since the entire surface is mostly glass, the Tab S4 can be a fingerprint magnet however. However, I think most tablet users would agree that this is nothing new and Samsung created a unique and attractive tablet that doesn’t have excessive branding. Using the Galaxy Tab S4, you WILL be blown away at how beautiful the screen is. It’s a 10.5-inch, 2560 x 1600 Super AMOLED display. Brightness can be easily adjusted and even up to the max setting, it still produced images with amazing degrees of contrast and saturation without blacks looking washed out. If you have ever walked into the local electronics store and have walked through the TV section to view the latest Samsung TVs, you will understand what I am saying. I was simply amazed at how unbelievably crisp the images looked whether I was simply reviewing photos or watching a show on Netflix. The Tab S4 definitely has one of the best-looking tablet displays of the year, and it’s not just because of Samsung’s use of display tech and color balancing. I also noticed that the bezels on the sides have shrunk compared to last year’s Galaxy Tab and the latest version of the iPad. Much like Samsung’s phones and TVs, as the bezel gets smaller, it makes for a more attractive device. Samsung has also incorporated quad speakers with Dolby Atmos tuned by AKG into the Tab S4. This makes this tablet stand out from most others because it truly gives a spatial sense to the sounds coming out of the device. I really felt that I could hear sounds all around me as I watched movies on Netflix without headphones. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and clarity of the sound that this thin device produced even at 100% volume. There was no “tinny” sound that is common on many tablets. Kudos to Samsung and AKG for recognizing how important quality sound is and incorporating it into this device. Examining the Tab S4, I noticed the gold contacts on the bottom edge of the long side (meant for the keyboard), power button, volume rocker control, microSD card slot, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB-C fast charging port. The keyboard doubles as a stand and case for the Tab S4, but you can’t adjust the angle, so the angle of the screen is essentially locked in just one position. I hope that in the future, Samsung does change this so that the screen is able to be moved/viewed at various angles. On the left side of the keyboard, there’s a removable S Pen holder, which is a good spot for. It sometimes can accidentally snap off if it gets bumped, but it is easily reattached and/or removed. I really liked the tactile feel of the keyboard which seems well-made and well thought out. I also felt the spacing on the keyboard was appropriate because in the past with laptops and other smaller designed keyboards, I would find myself making many more mistakes than usual. One suggestion for Samsung would be to make the keys backlit for nighttime typing. For those users who decide against purchasing the keyboard, Samsung does include an on-screen keyboard button which brings up a small version of the native full-screen Android keyboard. It’s helpful if you want to type using your voice, or add emoji’s or stickers. Included with the Tab S4 main unit is the S Pen. From my understanding, it has been redesigned for the Tab S4. It’s lightweight, has a soft tip, and balances on your fingertips like a real pen. Again, Samsung created a superb device that tracks very well, is highly useful, and would even be suitable for professional designers or artists. This allows you to make notes, draw, sign your name, etc. on basically anything on the screen which I found useful. I believe Samsung DeX is going to be one of the Tab S4’s biggest advances with the previous tablet. I was amazed at what this now allows me to do using the android operating system. I was able to easily have 8 to 10 android apps open at a time with no slowdown of the system and with the ability to move them around, resize them (like Windows), or go full-screen size with just one app. From my understanding, the user also has the option of projecting this to an external monitor or TV as well. The Tab S4 uses the Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB of RAM. The operating system is snappy and smooth and I haven’t come across crashes or lag at all. I tried/tested several apps and games and found that the overall performance was outstanding. While using Samsung DeX and having numerous windows open, the processor still persisted and didn’t slow down or crash. The Tab S4 has outstanding cameras on both the front and back of the device. The main 13-megapixel camera can shoot 4K up to 30 fps, while the front-facing supports up to 1080p HD. I tested the device taking some high quality photos with both cameras and also some 4K video and was very impressed with the quality of both. On the front, the Tab S4 also has the sensors for its iris and face scanner unlocking feature. I found this to be fairly reliable once you learn how to position the device in relation to your face. When I do compare this to the thumb scan unlock feature on the iPad version, I feel that the thumb scan is probably preferable/more practical. However, the iris and face scanner does also work in pitch black darkness, so that’s kind of nice. Most of the Tab S4’s weight comes from the quality 7,300mAh battery. Samsung advertises 16 hours of battery life using the Tab S4 for video and productivity. I got around 15-16 hours of use of gaming, watching Netflix, and writing several emails with the keyboard before having to recharge. If you setup the Tab S4 with no GPS, Bluetooth, and 50 percent brightness-it shouldn’t be difficult to hit the 16 or more-hour mark. In summary, with the Galaxy Tab S4, Samsung has tremendously improved on its goal to create the ideal Android tablet. Samsung DeX makes the Tab S4 truly special and should appeal to Windows users. There was no expense spared in the quality of the Super AMOLED display and the incredible sound system with Dolby Atmos. Samsung made the right decision by continuing to allow the user the ability to add up to 400 GB of microSD storage. I felt like the device handled everything that I threw at it flawlessly with its processor speed and quality build, I feel that I will have no issues handling all of the latest apps for the next few years at least. With only a couple of minor tweaks, Samsung could be on its way to create the perfect device.
