Nice looking but tracking is not consistent for steps and stairs if it tracks at all.

The watch is not a bad but it has a couple flaws that keep if from being a great watch. The first flaw is the step counting. This watch seems to be way off when counting steps. I have noticed up to a 5k difference between this watch and my fitbit. I have also did manual counts to compare against it and it always falls short. The second flaw which may be do to the first is that my daily calorie count seems low. As for the positives it has a great screen, I like the auto workout tracking and its seamless connection with my galaxy phone.

Works great with Samsung galaxy phone. Turn off wifi for a longer battery life since the watch draws notifications over bluetooth. Can't recognize working out on a treadmill as it only recognize it as steps tho.

This is a nice watch, but not a great fitness tracker. I have yet to get it to track stairs climbed accurately. The steps counter is drastically less than my Fitbit, and I'm not sure why. I like the look of it and the other capabilities, otherwise I'd probably return it.

While it's cute and has a lot of cool functions like finding my phone, it does a terrible job of tracking steps or exercise in general. I bought this to replace my fitbit and it sadly does not compare. Not having a speaker its not a suitable phone alternative. Ultimately it was a waste of my money as I got another Fitbit.

Salesman promoted capability to monitor blood pressure, but watch doesn't do that. Step counter is very unreliable. Watch hands froze and required factory reset to recover. Don't buy this dumb watch.

I have the Samsung sport and now I have Samsung Active. I love both watches. the Samsung Active is a bit lighter which is great. my only problem is that I wore both watches at the same time and notice each watch had a different step numbers.

Love the watch and that I can send simple texts from it. I hate that I have to charge it every other day dispite turning off some of my notifications all I get on my watch are text messages, notified of in coming calls and tracking my steps and sleep. My Futbit blaxe lasted a full week on a single charge. I am keeping the watch because I can text without my phone which helps in long meetings or trainings

Is not accurate at step counting. I didnt buy this pricey watch just so the screen can look pretty. I want to use for fitness but I can walk all over my house and it does not move the steps. I have a newborn so walking back and fourth it should change. It did not. Some users say to move your arm while you walk or dont hold anything with the hand your watch is on. For something this costly you shouldnt have to change your "walk" or not use a hand in order for it to work. I also dont like that it only holds charge for about a day and a half. My fitbit charge 2 would hold for at least 4 or 5 days without needing a charge. Also, because it doesnt hold a charge I have to charge while I sleep therefore it thinks I slept from the time I put watch on charger till when I put watch back on. Again, not reliable. Overall disappointed that it costs $200 and doesnt hold up against competitors. Sadly, I will be returning watch today.

I really like the styling of this watch. It is a great concept, beautiful styling. However, the technical aspects of the watch still need work. The battery did not hold a charge at all after a few weeks. The sleep fitness nor step tracking were accurate or reasonable. Sadly due to the total power failure problem, I ended up returning the product.

I switched from my trusty old Fitbit to this, since I just got the Galaxy S10. The watch itself is the perfect size and I love the apps. But I hate the step counter, which is a big part of why I wear it. I can walk around my house and the counter will not move unless I'm swinging my arms. I read reviews on other Samsung watches and I guess this is a known issue that Samsung chooses to ignore. I prefer my cheap Fitbit over this.

This was a nice Mother's Day gift. I love the size (compared to my FitBit Alta and old Samsung watch) and shape. I wish it had the battery life of my Alta (3 days vs 1 day of my typical use). It also seems to have a more complicated app interface; I still haven't figured out how to allow notifications that messages are received (and NOT messages sent; I know I sent them! LOL). It's more stingy with step counts, but it seems more accurate. I haven't had time to play with too many of the features involving music or apps for fear the battery would be done before my day was done.

This watch is ok if you are just looking for a stylish smartwatch at a decent price and you don't care about the fitness tracking. I found that the calorie counting, step tracking and sleep tracking were not accurate. For example, it had me sleeping at 8:50pm and I didn't go to bed until almost 10. The battery life is very poor. Even with battery optimize feature on I was lucky to get two days out of a charge. I also don't like the watch band because it tucks in under the band instead of on top. It makes it much more difficult to take on and off plus it is not very comfortable when you are working out. Also, as far as the smartwatch functions I found that sometimes I received notifications and sometimes I didn't. I returned the watch and purchased one that is more geared toward accurate fitness tracking with a far better battery life. Hopefully Samsung will make improvements to this watch in the future,

Battery life for me with minimal usage has been 1.25 days far under the 2 days advertised. I have the heart rate set to every 10 minutes too and a black watch face. I was also disappointed to find that it takes a solid 2 hours to charge so pick between sleep tracking or time/notification/step counting. FYI for others. . it is qi compatible for charging but you still need special qi chargers for the galaxy watches. Its a little disappointing I have to tell myself to not play with it because the battery wont last a day if I do. For good: I finally have a reason to use bixby, it works great for texting via watch. No rotating bezel hasnt been an issue for me. This is a very comfortable watch and fits great on my skinny arms. Finally you can have a lot of smart functionality in a small watch that doesnt have to stand out. Im almost thinking I should buy a second one so one can be charging while one is being worn. The price is really good for what you get overall

Great, comfortable entry smart / fitness watch

This is my first smart / fitness watch. I've found it to be very comfortable and have a lot of entry type features. I can check my heart rate, "stress levels", log steps walked, time holding planks, doing yoga, cycling (and many other specific fitness activities), log water intake, check the weather, receive notice of text messages and phone calls (even from my iPhone), and more. I love the style - it is so pretty and feminine. There are also Samsung fitness challenges one can join. I'm still learning about many features. They say that blood pressure monitoring may be possible in future software releases. Sleep is also tracked automatically. I like that positive feedback is given when walks are started, etc. The watch also prompts one to move if it detects long periods of inactivity. The downsides I've found are battery life -- if using the full color mode, the battery only lasts ~2 days. Also one can use power saver mode, and the battery lasts longer, however, one cannot access all the apps in power saver mode -- only check the time, track steps. Charging is fast (~1-2 hrs) and perhaps not 'perfect' exercise/sleep logging. I still wear an old fitbit and am comparing steps logged and sleep. The two devices so far are quite similar. I'm used to the fitbit app, so still like that for looking at sleep/steps. The Samsung app seems to be fairly comparable, and ever evolving. Overall, I like this watch a lot and recommend it if folks are aware of the limitations. For the price point, I think it is great.

This watch is excellent for what it was designed to be. It can't be beat at this price point. It has so many more features than expected. The pictures really don't do it justice for how nice it looks. I was expecting a really tiny watch based on other reviews and videos, but it's really not, it's the ideal size. It's so comfortable that I forget i'm wearing it. As far as the features go, I love being able to send texts and read emails on the watch. It's extremely easy to us for having a small screen. . it just works and that's what makes it great! i've had zero issues. There's no lag or freezing. I also love the daily activity summaries and I never have any doubt about what the weather is going to be before I start my day. . this watch will always notify you at just the right time! It recognizes my workouts automatically and I love the popup message with the timer, distance, and number of steps after i've started a walk or run. I find the watch to be extremely accurate in recognizing when i'm actually sleeping as well. The battery life is 1.5 days, although there are plenty of settings to help extend the battery life such as power saving and a watch only mode. It would be nice if it lasted 2 or 3 days, but the battery life is acceptable. The features of the watch outweigh this shorter battery life compared to larger watches like the Galaxy Watch. I don't agree with the algorithm Samsung has chosen for number of steps. I think it's wrong, but i've come to accept that 8,000 steps on this watch is about 10,000 on others (for me anyway). The watch doesn't begin counting steps until you've done 10 or more steps and then you see them accumulate. Doing one or two steps doesn't add to the daily total. I'd just like to be able to choose whether it counts ALL steps. Whereas with a Fitbit you may end up with 500 steps after taking a shower, that's not the case with the watch. . so it's more accurate in this respect. The step count is not overinflated like a Fitbit, and that's something that i've gotten used to and appreciate the greater accuracy. I think that the algorithm could instead begin counting after 3-4 steps, and it would still reduce the overinflated step count that you get on a Fitbit. My Galaxy S9 counts ALL steps, so i'm unclear as to why the watch doesn't. It's something Samsung should address or make clear if they're striving for greater accuracy which appears to be the case. One last thing, the watch appears to be durable. Another reviewer mentioned a scratch on the glass after a day. i've accidentally hit my watch on things and there's no scratches at all, it's a tough watch. So newsflash. . if you've a scratch on the glass, it's because you actually hit something very sharp that would scratch any watch. Overall, this an excellent smartwatch and I'd purchase the same one all over again if I had to.

I've never owned a smart watch or Fitbit before, so I was uncertain of how much I would like this product when I bought it. Getting used to it took a little bit of time, but now that I know how to use it, it has proven to be extremely useful for my daily life. Below are a few of the ways I use and enjoy my smartwatch. Health & Fitness: the watch tracks my heartbeat, stress, sleep (to include depth of sleep), steps, and when I walk or run for more than 10 minutes. It obviously links with Samsung Health (not certain about other health apps), and gives you a basic display on your watch of your activities and Calories lost during the day. I'm a pretty lazy person by nature, but having all that information at my wrist helps to keep me motivated to move around a bit more. Notifications: When paired with my phone, I can see messages, emails, and other notifications from my phone without ever pulling it out of my pocket. I can even respond to messages with 20 customizable responses, write words on the watch face, or even speak into the watch for it to write my words down. Music control: I can switch songs and turn up the volume to my headphones, all from my watch. Very useful since you can see the song title on the face. Samsung Pay: I can pay for many of my purchases simply by putting my wrist near the card reader. If I forget my wallet at home, I know there are many places I can still go, instead of being forced to return home. Pick your favorite watch face: There are many different watch faces, which can focus on utility or fashion. Pick whichever one you want, and even change what is displayed on them. Various apps: You can set calendar dates, add reminders, alarms, favorite contacts to easily message, check the week's weather, and do even more, all without ever pulling out your phone. I only have a few minor complaints about it. I wish some of the apps on the store were included from the start and didn't require you to purchase them. One instance of this is the navigation app. If I'm walking somewhere new, having a navigator on my wrist would be awesome, but I don't really want to pay an additional $2 or $5 for it (can't remember the price). Also, even if you've Samsung Pay for your phone with credit cards saved on there, those cards don't transfer to your watch. You'll have to add and activate your cards again for use specifically with your watch. As for the speech to text function, it doesn't seem to be as accurate as other things I've used. You'll have to make sure to speak clearly and slowly, and even then you may have to fix a few mistakes. Compared to all the benefits the watch gives me, though, these are all minor complaints that would make the watch even more awesome if fixed. If you've been curious about getting a smart watch, I would most certainly recommend it. Most likely, you'll be glad you did.

This is an excellent smart watch. I applaud Samsung for its minimalist packaging, all of which can be recycled. Small point, but important to many of us. The box contains the basics: watch, extra-length strap, (a great! @@@@@@@ charger, and a quick-start guide that is actually clear enough with large print and good illustrations to be useful. The watch has a solid, substantial feel, and while I only tested its ability to resist water in a couple of showers, the construction left me with few doubts that it would handle more lengthy water activities. Also, it is stylish and with the screen dark the watch even looks elegant for its simplicity. As for that charger, it plugs into any standard USB port and is magnetic. No clips to open, no manual adjustments, just put the watch on the charger and it snaps into place for wireless charging. Neat! Syncing the watch to my phone stalled for about 30 minutes. I decided to delete the app and restart the phone before reinstalling the app. It then synced quickly. The band, unlike several others I have tried, is both comfortable and easy to buckle. Using various included apps was frustrating as I had to accede to the demands that I grant many, many permissions or the apps would not work. @@@@@@@@ Had I not been using the watch for evaluation purposes I would not have granted the most intrusive permissions. @@@@@@@ For example, I am sure there is a reason why the watch needs to have access to my stored photos, but I could not figure out what that might be. Like many contemporary tech tools, I felt it was needlessly stalking me. The step-tracking function accurate to within about 1-2%. Usability was compromised by the size of the fonts on some faces. There were, of course, several built-in options with the ability to get more at a nominal price. The watch is pleasantly (for some purposes) tidy in size (see photos). The downside is that trying to read steps or other metrics which may be displayed on several faces is very difficult. I wonder how someone who requires glasses but might not use them for exercise or workouts would be able to read the information from the watch. My guess is they would choose one of the less cluttered digital options. In the photos you will see one screen that displays more than a dozen data points from the number of steps to a weather forecast. A user must determine whether this is helpful or needlessly confusing. The screen was very responsive and reacted instantly to my swipes. I have not experienced this speed and certainty with some other devices and it was refreshing. Overall, this is a good, solid product with many features that could enhance a varied workout regimen (and if you don't turn off this feature it will remind you-often erratically-to get up to "move." After several days of wear and use, I felt very comfortable with the elegance of the watch. Samsung has gone to great lengths to provide alerts, connectivity information, and surprisingly readable weather reports, emails, and texts. Strongly recommended.

I've been a fan of smart watched since the beginning. I've owned no less than five of them. Everything from simple fitness trackers to the big and heavy stylish watches. Each new generation of watch has seen improvements over the previous generation. The Galaxy Watch Active is probably the "smartest" smart watch yet. The watch is nicely made yet very lightweight. I like the simple all black design. When it comes to my everyday watch for work, I prefer a simple design such as this. The 40mm size is a little bit smaller than many watches but I think it is a good compromise size for everyone. The band is very comfortable and it is nice to see two different sized bands included. Compared to earlier watches, the battery life is great. Now keep in mind that you will still find you need to charge it every evening. But unlike many smart watches from before that you would be struggling to make it thru the day with, I find I am still at over 50% battery life by the time I go to bed. Pretty impressive considering my normal use. I also like the charger. Much like others, you have a magnetic charger to attach it to. But unlike others that are small and finicky to attach, this one is a disk about the same size as the watch itself. Easy to attach without fumbling around. The functions are straight forward. All of the standard health tracking features are here. Heart rate, steps, calories burned, sleep monitor and so on. I like the inclusion of the stress monitor. From what I can tell, everything seems to be pretty accurate. I really like that it seems to stay connected to my my phone very well. I've gotten more than a little frustrated in the past with other watches because they can't seem to hold a good connection. This would lead to missed notifications. That drives me nuts! But so far, the Galaxy Watch Active seems to have the most stable connection to my phone that I've ever seen from a watch. FYI, I am using it with a Note 9. At the end of the day, for me a smart watch needs to be there without being noticeable if that makes any sense. I want the functions to work so well that you don't spend time being frustrated with the watch not functioning well. This watch does just that. It looks great, has great battery life and functions so well that I can go about my day without getting frustrated by it. what more can you ask for??
