Customers are saying

Customers regard the Galaxy Watch5 Aluminum Smartwatch 40mm BT favorably for its ease of use, numerous features, and stylish design, with many appreciating its comfortable size. However, a significant drawback reported by users is the battery life, which is considered insufficient by many. Other less frequently cited concerns include the absence of a rotating bezel from previous models and limitations with the ECG functionality for non-Samsung phone users. The watch's sleep and step tracking capabilities also receive positive feedback.

    Impressive Smartwatch, with notable drawbacks

To preface this review, this is the first smartwatch I've purchased. I specifically bought it to help me manage productivity and health goals, which weren't as easy when relying purely on my Galaxy-based phone. I wanted a device with Google Assistant integration since I have had a mixed experience with Samsungs Bixby assistant. I became aware of Google's new WearOs-based smartwatches. I wanted a device that could hopefully provide me with a decent amount of integration between my watch and phone, regarding setting and viewing calendar events, viewing notifications, marking doses of medications through the notification bar, etc. This smartwatch does cover a lot of those bells and whistles. It's beneficial as a secondary Google clock app alarm due to its ability to vibrate and play alarm tones in synchronization with a paired device. A great aspect of this smartwatch is that notifications from my phone are readily available to read or access but the drawback is that Google Wear Os is still limited in what applications are integrated to directly use on the watch itself. For example, Microsoft Outlook is available on both current Android and Wear Os gen devices, but the same can't be said for Gmail or other popular productivity apps at this time. Very often, you'll have to open apps on your phone to view the nonfiction in full, instead of having more readily available cross-compatible WearOs based apps that work with their Smartphone Android Os counterpart versions. I'm hoping with time, more developers will be focused on integrating light versions of their Android apps towards wearos-based devices and users. The setup process was relatively simple, even though I had a few issues where the Galaxy wearable app was unable to connect my Google account/Samsung account with the device on the first pairing attempt. In addition, sometimes Wifi on secure networks wasn't recognized on the first try as well when entering the correct password. Once I was able to get past some of those initial bugs, the experience was smooth sailing for the most part. The GPS version pairs via Bluetooth, and you'll likely be utilizing Bluetooth for the majority of the connectivity between the devices to receive notifications, so be aware of needing the have the devices near each other to have the best functionality. You can still set alarms and perform some other task through the watch if it's unpaired/not connected to Bluetooth or Wifi, but the core usage is as an extension of your smartphone. Another quick thing to note toward the end of this review is the battery life, which is a bit disappointing in the non-pro model of the Galaxy Watch 5. The battery last roughly 8-10 hours for me, if GPS is enabled. In addition, using Google Assitant on the Watch, Wifi, Always On Display, or GPS individually or in combination, drains the battery much faster. If you keep Bluetooth on, and keep GPS and always on Display off, you'll likely be able to have the battery last throughout your day with light to moderate use. The watch comes with a USB-c cable/mini wireless charger pad which will require you to have an adapter to plug said USB-c cable into to charge the watch. The charge time is about an hour and a half to two hours, depending on your adapter's wattage. To conclude this review, I want to highlight some of where I think the watch does indeed shine. At the price range, it's a great investment for those trying to reduce their need to look at their smartphones during productivity sessions. The widgets and customizations to receive notifications, set alarms, check the weather forecasts hourly or weekly, check your heart rate/mark your vitals& nutrition, etc, are highly worthwhile features when considering getting a smartwatch that is supposed to be an extension of the capabilities of your smartphone. While I wish the device was a bit more expansive and well-optimized out of the box, I think it's a great additional tool for those willing to acknowledge some of the limitations it currently holds. Again, I'm hoping some of the issues with app integration and battery life are resolved in upcoming/future firmware updates. I would recommend this smartwatch, but again encourage anyone considering purchasing it to look at their needs and see if this specific model works for them.

Absolute stunning upgrade!! I am a simple girl when it comes to tech so I am sure that all the techies out there didn't see the impressiveness of this watch that I did. My Active 2 was great put as I upgraded to a 22 Ultra phone I knew the watch needed an upgrade. The 5 fits my small wrist so much better than the 2...not tight but not loose, and of course now that it fits correctly my readings are constant correct. The screen is bright and crystal clear. The inceeaaed apps are amazing and I can do such more when texting, talking and emailing with it. As for calls, I can hear perfectly and the other side of the call heres me as if I was standing tnext to them. The health package is great...step count seems way more accurate as does the sleep measurents. Love all of the measurements and readings. The auto workout seems much more responsive and greatly appreciated. I personally have no issues with the battery life. Length will vary from person to person, I use my watch for eveything from texts to calls to emails to workout so I charge it once a day in the morning while showering. I am confident in my decision to upgrade both my phone and the watch and they seamlessly work together. But its important to remember that the watch will only work at its fullest potential if it is paired with the latest Samsung product and corresponding software.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 has become an essential part of my daily routine. Its sleek design and powerful features have truly impressed me. The vibrant AMOLED display is a joy to look at, making it easy to read notifications and customize watch faces. The seamless connectivity via Bluetooth allows me to stay connected without constantly checking my phone. I love how it goes beyond just notifications. With its accurate heart rate monitor, sleep tracking, and stress monitoring features, it's like having a personal health coach on my wrist. The battery life is impressive, easily lasting throughout the day, and the water resistance adds peace of mind. In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 is my ultimate companion. It combines style, functionality, and advanced features in a compact package. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a top-notch smartwatch.

Love the sleek design. Fits comfortably on my wrist. I qas so upset to have to get rid of my garmin fenix , but i kept breaking out from the metal. This one has not caused any issues and i love being able to answer texts quickly, answer calls and talk, and the fitness tracking with gps has been great for my runs! I also love hiw quickly it connects to gps and how you can adjust when notifications go off. Sleep tracking has been great as well, and the snore detect is pretty neat, never considered myself a snorer but have caught it a few times with this watch! Overall 5/5

Honestly, most of the features are pretty standard to the last generation, the key differences being a more intuitive design and longer battery life for the 5th generation. I did have an issue in the first few days with my watch trying to connect with other phones via blutooth while currently being connected to mine, but going into settings and permanently connecting my watch to my phone solved the issue. You still need your phone close by if you want to do anthing more complex than fitness tracking, calling/texting, and weather tracking. Photos do transfer over nicely to the watch though! All in all, it's everything you'd expect from the galaxy watch series with minimal change of outward design and functionality.

Lightweight, stylish and loaded with helpful information! I probably only use half of the features and I love the fact that you can choose from lots of watch faces for different colors both background and a separate color for information. I track my steps, weather, battery, date and time at a glance. Blood pressure and ECG features and has a fall notification to name a few. Decorative Bumper available!

Love this watch! I've had galaxy watches in the past and this one is by far the best version. It's quick, high quality, and easy to use. Absolutely love it! Only thing that i wish was better was the battery life. It's definitely not a problem, but I have to keep it on battery save mode if I want it to last a full day.

I've had this watch as an upgrade from my Galaxy Watch for a little over 3 weeks now and I'm honestly still so in love with it. The safety upgrades alone made the purchase well worth it, but even the watch as a whole is lighter than my previous! The charge is okay compared to the Galaxy Watch, but I usually take it off by the time I get home anyway. I'd say it's usually around 65-70% after wearing it for roughly 8.5 hours. I particularly like the new EKG feature. Heart problems run in my family, so any chance I get to monitor mine is something I never fail to take advantage of. I know it's not the same as a diagnosis, but having something to simply monitor any potential changes is well worth it to me. I haven't used every single feature, yet, but so far I'm impressed with the few things I have taken advantage of. If you're thinking about buying it: buy it!

I primarily got this watch for work, but also to keep track of my stress and sleep. I have a Motorola, so I was concerned that I wouldn't get all of the features. I had to get a couple apps, and sign up for a Samsung account to get the full experience, but it was well worth it. This is also handy for when I get a text at work and can't look at my phone. I got this watch on sale, which was good for the price, but I would suggest waiting until it goes on sale again to buy it. Great and convenient watch overall though!

Beautiful and modern gift for mom, she loves it and it’s easy to use! Only complaint is battery life. She had a fossil smart watch before and lasted a week with everyday use, this one lasts 1.5 days before needing a full charge. Overall, she likes

It's a pretty good watch! It's extremely sturdy, I've owned it for almost 2 years and I do indoor climbing so I would smack it on the concrete walls multiple times and the only "damage" it took was scratches to the metal body, the glass still has no cracks or even scratches It has some flaws though, I haven't owned any other smart watches so can't tell if this is normal, but sometimes it could be sluggish and the battery life isn't the best Overall it's a pretty solid pick!

Was told this watch does blood pressure but the health app doesn't support. The battery has to be charged every single day of you use it to track steps and other health monitoring. I do like the design and the ease of use typical of Samsung products.

I bought the BT version and have had this watch a year now and love the style and all the compatible apps. Like how it works with texts and WhatsApp. Also so many ways to customize my screen. Then theirs how it auto recognizes and times my treadmill workout and can also be set for weight workouts. Will also record neighborhood walks and map it. Lots of health settings too. I use notifications for meds, etc. Volume, vibration, and brightness no problem. The glass is great protection as have yet to show a scratch. Battery lasts me 2 days and charges pretty fast. Negative is it doesn't recognize stairs and charger not included.

This is a nice watch. I like that I can get my heart rate and see my steps and activities. Different from my old viro fit where I could not change the watch face. It has several faces and pictures I can choose from. Now I can make calls and listen to calls from my watch and free up my hands while talking.

I purchased this Smartwatch as a replacement for my FitBit. I chose the Galaxy over the Fitbit Sense because of its enhanced features, and price, and I have a Samsung Phone. I have no issues with the technical features or capabilities of the watch. Those are indeed more robust than the Sense. That said, I have two primary issues that make me wish I had gone with the Sense. 1. the size/weight of the watch and 2. the charging mechanism. First, I have very small wrists, so as you can see from the photos, the watch is larger than my wrist and I have used almost the last notch in the band, which creates quite a gap. The watch is much larger than the Sense (or the Apple which has the same capabilities as the Galaxy) - not sure why it needs to be so large and bulky. Regarding the charging - it's ridiculous. It comes with a wireless charger with a USB-C connection. The only way I can charge the watch is to either (a.) use my phone (drawing down the phone battery) or (b.) attach it to my laptop, as I currently don't have any other USB-C adapter. I don't understand why Samsung chose a USB-C versus a standard USB connector, which is much more common and accessible. The life of the battery is pretty short - I have to charge daily, but the battery does charge very quickly. I hate to give such a negative review, but I am really disappointed overall.

I got this watch for Mother's Day. I swtiched from my Fitbit watch. Still getting used to charging it everyday, as the battery life is not near as long as my Fitbit Versa. The only other thing that I've had an issue with, is that it "thinks" I want to change watch faces when I have the face resting on my leg or something else. But, overall I'm very pleased with the switch!

I've owner this for nearly a year now, transferring from my 2019 Apple Watch Series 5. I really really wanted this device to be better, if not the same level as the Apple competitor. Even though this device came out 4 years after the Apple Watch 5, I can already tell Samsung is behind in the tech accessory department. The main purpose for my watches has been exercising, heart rates, BMI calculations, cycle tracking, media control, and occasional quick messaging. With this watch, the GPS tracking and heart rate monitor are wildly inaccurate. Sometimes it claims I walk a mile on the treadmill in less than 3 minutes. Somedays, my heart rate will monitor at 130+ and the watch clocks it in between the 85-95 range. Steps don't track as well. Messaging is not fun, keyboard is too small and the mic doesn't interpret well. Cycle tracking is inaccurate - it's supposed to use body temperature but won't let you check your body temp outside of the cycle tracker. Overall the Apple interface is bigger and smoother with a clearer resolution screen. Ease of use goes to Apple. I do software design all day so nitty gritty details of a user interface really matter to me. Media controller is spotty - doesn't always show the correct songs playing. Slow response screens. It does the job but not at the level I was accustomed to sadly :( Positives though: very durable, no visible scratches or scruffs.. battery life gets me through the day, comfort of the round watch face isn't bad.
