I've been using my Gear S for about 2 weeks now. Good investment. The 2 year contract and price drop made it worth it. I have the Note 4 with ATT using the data plan connection also. It doesn't have any useful apps for me that I use which was a disappointment. However, there is an app called Opera Mini you can download that will give you a browser and even access to FB mobile and other sites. You tube gives you an error message. I haven't used the GPS yet. I have used the fitness app which alerts you if you are stable/heart rate/walking. I don't know the accuracy of the walking as others have attested to but for me it is a good measurement. If you want the watch to act on it's own you have to keep the mobile Networks constantly on. Too early to tell how much data it is using by changing this setting. We still have a lot of GB left and the battery is not depleting either. Not sure what this does leaving it on constantly. However, by turning it to always on/off my callers would go straight to voicemail if they called the watch telephone number directly. If they call my cell phone (while it is paired) the watch would ring. If they are not paired the watch would act on it's own and not go to voicemail. The Bluetooth in my car does pick up the watch immediately and when I release the call also from the watch my music comes right back on. I can control my telephones music from the watch. I can also download songs from my phone to the watch. Speaker volume is good and if the room is fairly quiet I don't have to have it by my mouth. I wish it came with more instructions as I learned a lot from You Tube. It is was a challenge for me in the beginning to get the battery on. I would recommend have the store associate do this with you a few times before leaving. The glass seems durable as it is Gorilla Glass but I am going to get a protective cover for peace of mind. I have small wrists and it fits perfectly fine. Has some weight to it but it is expected. No camera but that doesn't bother me as I have too many as it is. Still nervous about leaving my phone at home out of habit. It's really too small for me to type on. Nice to just read in case it is an important message to react to and check the voicemail but I cannot accurately type on it. I can now leave my phone tucked in my purse without having to check for it every 5 seconds. If I am not connected the watch alerts me. I have noticed a reduction in my cell phone battery life however. By evening time it is at 30% and I was usually sitting at 70% still with my activity at supper time. When I first became interested in a watch I really thought it would be the same concept as the Ipad is to the IPhone. Smaller screen but does the same thing. Not having a lot of apps is a big con for me and why I give it 4 starts. Please develop more apps and a keyboard that would be user friendly.

First of all let me start by saying to those Gadget Geeks like myself that this watch looks great, feels great and it's fun to own.... BUT ; as every new product it has some bugs at the current initial version at the market. Hopefully soon they will fix that via updates. Bluetooth works flawlessly. Making and receiving call functions are unexpectedly crystal clear at both end. It's lithe speaker miraculously is loud enough to be heard at most environments we all find ourselves during our daily activities like in a car, in a bus, on a boat, at a coffee shop, at grocery store, at the airport and so on... It is a great option to those of us living in a state where having a phone on hand while driving is not permitted. When call comes in, you don't have to dig in to your pockets to get your phone out. A simple swipe on your wrist and VOILA! Also lately most of the phones I realized getting bigger and bigger. Some of them are nearly as same size as a mini tablet. Well in my opinion it looks ridiculous when I see someone holding a mini tablet to their ear and talking. It pairs great with any bluetooth earpiece if you're looking a private conversation. Of course since it has its own SIM Card, in case if you drop your phone or lost or forgot you can always setup as an independent standalone phone by few clicks and again VOILA, you are back to the civilization. For example you left your phone on the counter at Starbucks and you realized after driving few miles. Get on your watch phone immediately let the baristas be aware of the situation. Pedometer and Heart Rate monitors are not 100% accurate at the moment But many other functions work great, including, text messages, emails, scheduling events, calendar, weather, navigation, photo gallery, Alarm, Find my device function, S Voice command and as a BIG plus :BREAKING NEWS on your wrist is as cool as it gets!

GOOD: Free up a pocket... now I can leave the smartphone at home and use this device for answering phone calls anywhere (some comment that there is no privacy - 1st-other people listen if they want when you are talking with someone in person so it doesn't bother me; 2nd-you can use the bluetooth (which I have) if the privacy is so important, overblown complaint in most cases in my opinion). I think you can use the phone number assigned to the watch to do everything, but I am not sure about this. All my notification, emails, texts are forwarded the watch from my smartphone which is in the car or at home when I am traveling abouts. 2" screen with great resolution is a plus rather than the round ones or smaller ones. You can do the typing but I mainly use it for the phone and consuming information and for that it is GREAT. It took me about a month to get used to it, but it is an essential go-to tool for me now. When I am traveling, I have my Samsung 10" tablet from T-Mobile to do the typing, etc. This device has other good features like find my car, voice recorder, weather, music, schedule from my google calendar, calculator, alarm, map voice direction, etc. Health I don't use, but it could be good for the fitness or diet people. NEED WORK: Some more practical real-world apps that can be used in the 2" screen. Hangouts, Kakao, WhatsApp could be very useful (we use Hangouts in the business for the individual and group meeting - people in US and Overseas). Partner with other high-end watch or watch band makers to allow more choices. Battery connection for charging - it is cumbersome and difficult to snap on and off (I finally got the hang of it 3 weeks later, but it is still stupid. Sometimes looses connection between the smartphone and the watch when switching automatically from bluetooth (when devices are nearby) and cell signal (when far away).

Samsung Gear S - It's all in the wrist!

Having had a few Smartwatches in my day, I was very interested in the Gear S. I was attracted to the ability to use it as a handsfree while driving. I am a Baby Boomer and I love Dick Tracy's wrist radio. For you younger readers, look him up. While the device ( I hesitate to call it a watch ) is fairly large, it looks good on my wrist. I am 6'3" so there was no size issue. The display is clean and clear, the colors are nice and visibility outdoors is not bad with the brightness cranked up. I have replaced the plastic band with a black stainless steel offering that classes up the look a bit. Unfortunately there are still large black plastic areas at the top and bottom edges of the device. Now, depending on your carrier ( I have AT&T ) you may or may not be able to forward your incoming calls to the Gear S. I had an issue with AT&T in some areas, and a newer build of Lollipop, failing to allow setting the option to forward all calls if unanswered. I got NETWORK SIM CARD ERROR. No fault of Samsung. The watch has a nicer interface than the Android Wear based Zen Watch. Yes I have that too. The functionality is better as well with the ability to compose emails and texts, surf the web with the Opera Mini Browser. All in all a useful device. If you are on the go like me and get many messages and emails during the day, the Smartwatch, almost any Smartwatch allows you to see the alert and decide if its worthy of digging out your phone. The Gear S goes above and beyond the competition.

Wasn't sure I would like this device. It was my first smart watch purchase, but it has definitely grown on me. Really like the ability to look quickly at the email/text notifications without having to reach for phone, unlock, etc, and realize it wasn't important. Just a quick glance at the watch, and you know. Battery life is really good, easily get through a couple of days, but I charge every night so I don't have to worry about it. And definitely a great conversation starter when people notice it. Wish more apps were compatible with the device, but definitely functions well. In a pinch have used it as a speakerphone, and it works great, the person on the other end doesn't even know you're talking to them from your wrist.

I had the Gear Fit before and wanted something a little more techy. The screen is large and I really like it, but someone who has small wrists may not like how big it is. I have had it for about 2 months now and have not had any issues with it. I mainly use it to respond to text messages without pulling my phone out of my backpack or pocket and as a pedometer. It is not 100% accurate as a pedometer but does the job nicely. So far, I really like it and wear it daily. The battery typically lasts 2-3 days and charges in just a few hours which is really nice.

I love this watch for many reasons. #1 Sleek design #2 Larger screen than its predecessors, gear 1 and 2. #3 The battery life is very good. I can wear the watch all day for 2 to 3 days without having to charge it. There are many new features that are fantastic, such as the GPS feature. This feature allows you to use a running app and us the watch to track time and distance you have run. LOVE IT!! The one drawback to this watch versus the Gear 1 and 2 is the lack of a camera. Not that having a camera is the most important thing, it was just very cool snapping photos on the sly. Other than that, I love the phone!!

I own the original Gear watch. When I bought this new watch it was because I was hoping to utilize the Nike+ app on it. I've been a bit underwhelmed with it as it's been quirky. Aside from that there's not too much more I can do with it. It's a nice looking watch and I enjoy wearing it. The cost alone versus an I watch is enough to consider it but unless you get a second data plan for it then you have limited use. Feel so so overall with the watch. I think they need to have more apps for the watch before I would consider it as a replacement for my phone. Technology with Samsung isn't quite there.

The Gear S was a replacement for my original gear which had died and was replaced by Geek-squad. It paired with my Note 4 quickly and was set up very easily. Unfortunately it had developed a row of dead pixels along the bottom half of the screen. The store was great about letting it be returned but since this is a discontinued product they were unable to order me another one. So I did not get to use the watch for more then a couple days, but the few days I did get to use it were enjoyable. Now I just have to find a similar smartwatch to the gear series.

I purchased my Gear S three weeks ago and it is still going strong. This is the smartest watch I have ever owned... I rarely pull my phone out these days... The coolest feature I think is being able to leave the phone in my bedroom and be able do control it over my wifi. I can make and take calls answer emails and text all from this watch... One charge last me 2 days with heavy use... The only issue is that with the 2" screen, I fear that I might scratch it or damage it....otherwise, I definitely recommend the Samsung Gear S..

I absolutely love my watch. I took a star off because I have trouble getting rid of voicemail notifications on the watch. The only other this I am a little displeased with is the band has already gotten some discoloration. It appears to have a faint blue tint on the edges where I have brushed my wrist on my jeans. The white is very nice but I don't know how to clean this type of material. Other than that.. it is a great product. I have had it for over a month and it works great. Sound quality is good/ Response time good/ Weight not bad/ Comfort Good/

Let me tell you it's a lot of fun when you first get, and what's better than getting complimented on your fancy new watch to boot? Once the glamour wears away, it serves it's purpose, and makes life a lot easier to determine the urgency or importance of a text or call. Phone isn't nearly glued to my hip as much now. The only reason why there isn't a 5 star on this product is due to the lack of apps for the watch and the cramped keyboard. Wish I could get my Google Play on this as well. It's strictly Galaxy Apps.

This watch is great! I It does everything you need it to do. It gives you email, sms, calls, and other notifications. The speaker quality is very good on phone calls. I had the Apple watch and this one is a lot better. The Bluetooth range is also better then the Apple watch. This is not me killing the Apple watch, just comparing it to each other. I would recommend this watch over most Android watches. I wish it worked with other Android phones but unfortunately it only works with Samsung phones.

This is the most advanced watch I have ever owned.. A truly smart watch... connects to my phone in 3 ways Bluetooth, WiFi, and it's own cellular plan. I choose not to take the cellular plan. My phone would be in the other side of the house and I can still get notifications and calls on this watch because it is on the same Wi-Fi connection.

After having my smartwatch for just over a month I have enjoyed wearing it. It's contour is very comfortable to wear everyday. My only thoughts of a downside is that you have to plug a external battery pack onto the back of the watch then plug a cord into that. When done charging you have to unclip it. I can see this breaking over time since you have to charge the watch every 2 days.

I do not have ATT phone service. It was the only gear S they had so I bought it for the blue tooth which work really good. Switching from screen to screen can be tedious at times. The volume for the phone is hard to hear even when turned all the way up. The find my phone or watch app on the watch is excellent and setting your screen saver is nice.

Been using this model for 4 months now and the only bad thing is the charger breaks too easily (I refuse to purchase another, I simply remove the watch band and hold the charger on with an elastic band until it is charged). I really rely on my watch because I cannot have my phone out all the time, but this ensures I don't miss any urgent alerts.

I Fell in love with the watch. All positives. Only negative I have about the watch is that it started tweaking a little bit. It started doing weird stuff like screen on off rapidly, i would go to a screen and it would go right back to the clock screen. this was my 2nd watch too. well i will be purchasing another one because i do love the watch

I have had all three gear watch. This was pretty cool with the curve screen. They take creeper factor away with no camera. It does lose the IR for TV control that the gear 2 had. It does seem smaller. As of right now I have not gotten to work with Galaxy S6. It does work with every other Galaxy in the line.

Watch has numerous functions and is almost like a laptop you wear on your wrist. Only complaints are that it's difficult to read in broad daylight and that the battery barely lasts 1 day. Also wish wristband was a little larger - can't find larger bands sold by outside vendors.
