    Best Smart Watch Period

I own several smart watches (pebble, pebble steel, moto360, samsung gear). This by far has been the most useful, productive, attractive watch I have owned. I even purchased an Apple Watch for my wife (I only carry Android phones) and returned it because it just didn't match the ease of use for her that see experienced on my other watches.

    Waiting for v2

I bought this device (at best buy) the day it came out, and at least with my Samsung Galaxy Note 4, it was nothing but trouble. Here are the highlights: *The watch didn't sync with everything after repeated attempts to reinstall the Gear app, and tweaking a variety of settings - texting and the S Health step counter seemed to work, but emails did not. * I wanted to track sleep and apparently the s health app might do it but there were no clear indicators of if/how it would take the readings from the watch (other than a couple of pre release articles touting get that it could do it, but with no details. On this note, there are apps you can download for the watch- one is "Sleep as Android". But After installing it on the watch, it would also not sync with the Sleep as Android app on my phone, so another failure. * I got the sport (not classic) version and the rotating bezel would not easily rotate ... it was slippery/smooth and unless I pressed down hard and turned it (which felt like I would eventually break it) it wouldnt turn. It was sort of like trying to open up one of those plastic bags in the produce section of the grocery store ... you could probably lick your finger to get some traction, but who wants to do that every time you want to use your watch! * The views you can set on the face are limited. I wanted a view that showed the combo of time, my steps, and the next thing on my calendar, but even if creating a custom view you can only see two of those (though I'm sure that even with the round face, all 3 could easily be surfaced). * The Gear app seemed to slow my phone to a grinding hault. In fact, once I made the decision to return the watch I ended up having to do a factory reset on my phone to get it back to normal. *The watch battery died after being charged to 100% and trying to set it up for 4+ hours... maybe that's sort of normal though. I imagine though that with heavy use, users could see limited battery life. *Ultimately, I might have been able to troubleshoot better but since this is a V1 product (sort of.... this just seems completely different from the rectangular Gear device so I'm calling it a v1) there was nothing posted online from other users or Samsung support, and it seemed like thus would be a rough experience for months to come. I ended up returning it after trying to use it for a day and spending several hours troubleshooting things that you'd expect would be plug and play seamless. Btw, I ended up getting a Jawbone Up 4 to track the sleep and activity and it's awesome (despite some problems with a band that seems to easily fall off... but I digress! :) Once this watch can track my activities like the Jawbone, and provide me with an update of my incoming calls, schedule, and texts (which the Jawbone doesnt do), I'll buy it again... waiting for v2!

I'm loving this smart watch. I'm still learning all of the apps for it that I want to use. I am very impressed by how easy it is to figure out how to use it. I mainly use it for the health/tracking abilities. I hope more variety of bands comes out for it though overall great watch and great design.

My husband and I each bought each other these watches for Christmas and I couldn't be more happy with it. I use my watch everyday. So easy to customize the faces and so many free apps to download. They have everything. I love the pedometer and it's great for work so you don't have to pull out your phone. I'm a retail manager so I have to have my phone with me all the time but unprofessional to have it on the floor so it's easy for my to look at my watch and see whose calling or texting before going off the floor. Also notifications from email and Facebook among so much more. Highly recommended!

There is so much potential for this watch but for some reason samsung released it prematurely. The lack of apps, samsung pay (which too was also released prematurely) makes this watch not worth the $300 they are asking for it. I have used the moto 360 and a lg urbane and both of those watches offered much more app functionality. That is my biggest gripe with this watch. It's a $300 watch with extremely limited functionality, samsung should have went with android wear instead of half baked Tizen.

So, I've been a cutting edge wearables guy ever since the pebble came out and I must say that the S2 is a glimpse into the future. It's a remarkable watch with a bezel that allows you to change screens without putting your finger on the glass. It's faster than any android wear I've owned and the battery life get's through a day. If you download a separate HR monitor program the readings I've gotten have been within 1-2 bpm of the chest strap while running which is amazing accuracy compared to any other watch I've used before. Best watch out there. Period.

This watch looks very stylish and good looking. It has great soft ware. This watch has a very limited section of apps. The one thing that made me give this a 1 star is that it lacks a speaker. This means you cannot call people through the watch, you can call people on it, but it goes right to your phone. You can't call people and talk and hear them through the watch.

I purchased this as a gift, and I can honestly say it is enjoyed beyond words. The only reason I have given it 4 stars if the battery life. It lasts for the day, buy I get 2 days out of my Motorola smart watch which these watches are so similar I would've thought Samsung would've brought their A game to the battery life. Other then the 1 day, there is NOTHING else I can say negative about the watch. Even I like it, and I LOVE my motorola.

I have to say my first impression after my run this morning is the product sucks! Here's why. I ran my normal 7 mile run using the Nike Plus application. I assumed that when I start Nike Plus on my Gear S2, it'd start on my phone, however that is not the case, which is weird. Halfway through my run, I attempted to check my distance, because not only does the Gear 2 not vibrate every mile, but it also doesn't activate the voice cues that normally come through my headphones after each mile. Nike Plus crashed twice during my run, but it did allow cheers to be initiated via my FB. My phone is a Note 5, so I am confused as to why none of my run was captured via my Gear 2 or my Note 5. I assumed the purpose of the smart watch was to do the same thing I normally do on my phone minus the phone when I run. However, as an avid runner, I always run with my phone so I can listen to Iheartradio. Why does a new device not function, however the S health app did capture my 10k steps, which does nothing for me. Lastly, why can't I buy a Geek Squad protection plan for this $300 plus toy. All other wearables, sold by Best Buy offer an aftermarket warranty. Why is Samsung not on board? I visited two separate Best Buys in the Cincinnati area, I was told that Samsung doesn't offer a Geek Squad Warranty. I will attempt the same run in the morning, and if this doesn't get better, I will be at Best Buy by weeks end. In terms of activity trackers, I have used the Vioactive most recently, and the Fitbit Surge both of which offer in an internal GPS, which I can overlook, however if the Gear S2 doesn't function as it should, I will get my money back.

Good, but not 300 bucks good

I'm going to return this. Main issue was, possibly not the fault of the particular model, but when I had it connected my texts no longer went into my Ford Sync system. The loss of this function sealed the fate of me and a smart watch for now. The watch was fun, and I did like having the vibration on my wrist when I got a notification, but beyond that I didn't find it truly useful. So for $300 it isn't worth it. I might try an Android wear device sometime to see how it integrates with Google, and if the functionality is better.

Best bang for the buck - if you have Samsung phone

I had been using an Asus Zenwatch 2 for more than year and was relatively satisfied with it. That watch cost a LOT less than the S2, especially in the beginning , and provided basic smartwatch functionality. But the Zenwatch does not provide the tight integration with the phone the Gear 2 has. The comprehensive Samsung health app is especially useful when used with the S2, picking up heart rate, blood O2 and stress levels from the watch and tracking exercise and sleep with no user intervention. Calorie tracking also is excellentt. The Zen 2 has no heart rate monitor and sleep tracking must be manually turned on an off each night. Like all smart watches, the Gear 2 provides notifications of mail, messages, phone calls, gives you control over music from the phone The OLED screen is nice and bright (unlike the Zenwatch) and can be seen in bright sun. A much better selection of watch faces. I am not wild about the cheap plastic case and band that make it look more like a toy than a $200 watch. But it is waterproof enough to wear in the shower at least, a big plus in my book. The rotating bezel makes navigation easier too. Thanks to recent price cuts on this model, the Gear 2 is the way to go if you have a Samsung phone. Mainly because it offers many apps designed to work with this watch. If you are looking for a straight Android watch with fewer features, however, you can do much better in terms of looks and price..

    not ready for release-many flaws

I really wanted to like this watch as I was searching for a really good and functional smart watch for sports, hiking and cycling. There are so many flaws I found with the gear S2 which did not exist on the original gear S. The activities monitoring apps whether it be nike fit or S health do not stay on while exercising. The screens always reverts back to the watch screen. I like to track my miles and speed while working out. I cannot do this without flipping through the dial and manually going back to the app I was using. The watch does this with every open application. It reverts back to the watch screen after a few seconds. It also does this while using the navigation app which makes navigation absolutely useless on this watch. The S health app would start on my watch but would not link and start the app on my phone. You cannot use google maps turn by turn navigation on this watch either. That alone was a show stopper for me. I returned the watch after one day of use and purchased a Huawei Watch. Spend a few extra dollars and believe me, you will be much, much happier with your purchase. OH, if it matters any I am a huge Samsung fan. I have owned 3 different Samsung Note phones and the original Samsung Gear S watch which is 1000 times more functional than this watch.
