I had an Apple Watch series 3 before, and I broke the screen so I decided to buy the Gear 3 because I like the rugged feel of it. But now that I got it, I hate it. The GPS is crap compared to to the Apple’s GPS. I usually run around the same park and I know exactly my timing and speed, so it was strange how suddenly it would take more time to run the same distance. Then at the end of my run I would see on a map how according to the G3 I was running all over the place but not the track. I notice that some times is more or less acurate but some times I even have to turn it on an off so it can measure right. The applications are also horrible, and being a runner, I was happy to see that Strava was included, and it worked fine for around a month and then it stopped synchronizing with my phone. Since then I have not been able to save my running history. I really wanted to like this watch but now I feel tempted to sell it and buy back another Apple Watch. Other than the fact that the watch looks nice and the battery last long, I don’t see anything else good on it.

    Mixed Feelings

This purchase has been very polarizing. I have both a love and a hate for my purchase of this watch. As a long time Nexus line user, I am very used to Google integration into everything. My current phone now is an S8+ which is not limited like this watch as far as Google integration. I have also owned other smart watches in the past such as the Moto 360. For the overall quality of the hardware of this Gear S3 I would give it a rating of 5 stars. The screen is bright, controls easily and very fast response. Not to mention I get up to 4 days of battery even with near full brightness and always on display. For the software side of the Gear S3 I regrettably must give this a 1 star. S VOICE is horrible, barely has any functionality at all, most things come back as one form of error or another, it is just terrible. Overall if you are used to doing things through google on your watch like checking sports scores, using google maps etc, steer clear of this watch at all costs. Sadly I majorly regret this purchase every time I go to do something useful on it :( I have learned my lesson on jumping on the hype train and will do much greater research for my next purchase, I just don't see how anyone considers this a great watch when it lacks so many of the features that make up a truly "Smart Watch"

Keep in mind I have a brand new Galaxy S9 and I bought the Samsung watch the same day. The watch never works properly, it seems to lag very bad. the talk to text on it is extremely horrible even the screen is crap. when you go to touch to type up something out it gets all jumbled up. Definitely don't think it's worth the money. cool concept who idea but has a bunch of little bugs that need fixed. Main reason why I bought it was the talk to text capability without having to pull out my phone. It just simply does not work correctly, if maybe I'm alone and it real quiet room and I yell extremely slow to it, it works but other than that complete junk. And the number of apps that are available for these is a joke why don't we have a YouTube player remote for like changing songs on your phone while it's Bluetooth connected to another radio. I just don't think they thought these out very well not a real good buy.

I previously used a Moto X that was only good for a day and a half of battery. This watch is good for 4 full days which is grat for a weekend trip without the charging dock. Besides that, all sensors perform poorly. Sensors thing I am cycling after 100mph motorcycle rides and 70mph drives. Elevation sensors think i climb 10 floors of stairs while driving around Austin's hilly roads. Sensors think I have walked 6000-10000 steps in a day between sitting in the office and driving on long road trips. The only thing it does well as a smart watch is tell time like an analog watch. Do not buy. pick a Watch that actually has Android wear over this Tizen nonsense

The best thing about this watch is looks and battery life. You can't do anything with this watch. Can't load apps to use like Android Wear.

Just to be clear this is a nice watch, I would have really enjoyed it....if I could have had it pair with any of my phones. I knew when I bought it that it won’t pair with an apple phone, but I did not read anything about pairing with an android phone. So after I got the watch and charged ti, I tried to pair with my Alcatel onetouch, I tried for an hour but would not pair. So then I tried my LG, nope. So finally I pulled out my Motorola that I never use but I was getting desperate, no joy. So I am thinking I got a broken phone, I mean it happens, and I start looking into reviews of the watch. I find the fact that the watch has a reputation of not pairing with anything but Samsung, wish I would have known that before buying. But I am doing this review so you will know. If you have a samsung phone then I would highly recommend this watch, but if you don’t save yourself trouble and look elsewhere. I just bought the fossil gen 4, I’ll let you know how that goes as soon as I get it.

I bought this watch to replace my on-the-fritz moto 360. At first it worked pretty well, but quickly started giving me issues and would not use my watchmaker app for a custom face. Then, the battery started dying REALLY fast and I had to put it in power saving mode and switch to a watch face that had zero features separate from telling the time only. What makes it a smart watch if it only tells the time? I'm not sure. Then, a few days ago it started dying on me VERY quickly. As in, it would lose 30+% battery every hour, even in power saving mode. I contacted Samsung for warranty repair, so we'll see if it comes back in better function than before. I've done factory resets, etc, and nothing so far has worked. I really want to find an app that will work to let me make custom faces and not make this s3 crash, though.

I was all excited about this watch and regretted not getting it when I first saw it, but I grabbed it when available again in January. You have read the good. Here's the bad in my eyes. 1. I like the watch displayed. Too bad it is not on all the time. You can select the time to show but you get a different watch face, a Screensaver if you will. Bah. I wanted the shown watch as my only face. Nope. 2. Going from wearing it to looking at it takes too long. It senses the angle and turns on the watch for you, but I do not want any delay. I want the watch face on all the time. Nope. 3. Battery life is terrible when you set it like you want it to be. So right off you are cutting corners. This costs as much as an entry laptop, what the heck! 4. The band sucks. 5. You use the case as a charger stand. Like I need a SAMSUNG ad on my desk. That was enough but there was more. The bezel rotated too freely, the free apps recommended now cost money, and the direction book is nigh impossible to read with that small font. I was really disappointed in what I got and took it back.

have a love/hate relationship with my Gear S3 Frontier... A number of features on it work great such as the step and floor counters and the heart rate monitor is neat. Some of the watch faces are quite epic and both useful and fun. On the other hand this device for some reason cannot charge in a warm room and all sorts of terrible issues with it's bluetooth connectivity. As far as I can tell your only true hope of stopping this device from answering calls and forcing you to talk to your wrist is to put it into "do not disturb" mode. Even this mode often fails and causes your phone to try to connect to the watch and then try to switch back to the phone's internal speaker. I've tested this issue with 3 different android phones from 3 different manufacturers. Today I have a pixel 2 xl - same issue. BTW if you disable phone connectivity via bluetooth in your phone settings this watch won't connect to it at all.

Worked Good and Then One Day it Stopped Working

It was a great watch that did exactly what I needed it to do. It tracked steps, somewhat tracked stairs climbed, was waterproof for swimming and showers, tracked heartbeat and sleep stages. The altimeter tool sucked and wasn't accurate even to the nearest 1,000 feet, however, since that wasn't the main reason I bought the watch, I was fine with it. The watch held a charge nicely for the first week or two where I wouldn't have to charge it for a couple days and then it started going downhill rapidly. I started having to charge it once a day and then even multiple times a day and then one day it just stopped taking a charge and hasn't worked. Best Buy doesn't service this particular Samsung device warranty so make sure you get their protection plan. I'm dealing with Samsung directly for the warranty and they seem to be handling it well.

Great Smart Watch Sucky Fitness Tracker

If you want a smartwatch with access to your phone to make/take calls, make/receive texts, this watch is great. Fitness tracking is horrible, I have the Samsung S8, and it does a pretty good job, I bought this to replace my Fitbit that was finally wearing out. I can run and the S8, and the fitbit will have very similar results (the fitbit showed 88 minutes, and 11.6 miles, the S8 showed 91 minutes and 11.4 miles while the actual was 11.5 miles and a time of 93 minutes) . This watch showed 31 minutes and 1.32 miles, I took it back and had it replaced and for the same run, it will show anything from 23 minutes to 79 minutes (in two or three segments) and anywhere from 1.6 to 3.4 miles. It will end your workout if you wipe your face too long, and it will end your workout if you simply turn around and go back (with no stopping) I bought another fitbit for fitness tracking, and I use this watch for connectivity.

When I got this watch I was expecting it to be a good companion for workouts , but after I used it, I Figured that it was bulky, slow and wasn’t as good as other brands like Fitbit or Apple Watch when it came to sports. but the price was ok.

Liked the turning bezel and the OS was easy to work with but failed on heart rate monitor. I tried everything from resetting to factory to testing the sensor with *#0*#. Ultimately I changed it over for another smartwatch.

The device itself is amazing, but it doesn't run Android OS. Huge mistake by Samsung to build their own OS. Way behind Android Wear on apps available and not catching up anytime soon. Buy an LG Sport or another Wear watch.

My issue isn't with THIS smartwatch, I'm guessing it's with all of them in general. My wife gave me this for Christmas and I'm sure it's nice and all, but i'm not quite sure how the darn thing works. And I don't seem to be interested even if I could find someone to show me how it works. Folks at Best Buy were of no help. So for now, it's an over priced regular watch that has to be charged every couple of days to keep it running that cost us $200 on sale. Would like to go back to my $25 watch from Academy. Good luck.....

Pretty big smart watch was really looking forward to it. Set up of the watch was straight forward, syncing it to apps howerever, is another story. This watch would never sync and when I contacted the apps tex support they advised it was a Samsung issue, Samsung said it was an app issue. Needless to say if it can't be used for some of it purpose, it isn't worth it. I ended up returning this watch and went with a Garmin product.

Very disappointed to have paid so much for so little features. It's heavier than any fitness watch I have ever owned. It is not waterproof while it cost so much. If you turn off your phone it stops many features from updating. The date, weather, etc. will not update until you turn Bluetooth on. It requires too many apps for it to function.
