This is an excellent SSD, the non-heatsink vs. 980 Pro with heatsink, also directly installed into an M.2 slot on my laptop reads 3454 MB/s read and 3294MB/s write. The heatsink version has much lower speed than the 980 Pro without the heatsink, so I put it into my M.2 slot on the motherboard of my desktop, and it had speeds of 2603MB/s read and 3381MB/s write. (Pictures provided of results) I've seen forums where there are obviously faster SSD's which came out at around the same time as this drive, but they are much more expensive. Overall, for the price and the storage space, I like this drive, and having a BestBuy in the neighborhood is even more incentive to go pick one up. I bough this refurbished one for half the price of the new one ($50 I think, and the new one was $89.99) and it only had a few gigabytes written to it, so it was practically brand new. I am very happy with it so far, I need to reinstall Windows onto this drive on my laptop, as it's currently running a 2TB Seagate @ 5400rpm which is just criminal. (Photos are of the same 980 PRO but with heatsink, I didn't photograph the non-heatsink when installing it into my laptop, unfortunately, sorry, but it's the same thing, just no heatsink, fits nicely in a laptop M.2 drive) BIG HEADS UP! So, this is a BARE DRIVE, so it does not come with screws to affix it to the mounting posts on your motherboard, this was a pain in the donkey for me, as those screws are super rare and I resorted to removing a motherboard mounting screw to hold the SSD down. So be sure that you have extra motherboard-type screws on hand, I couldn't find any at Best Buy and I don't know where to get them, I guess China? Best of luck!

I found a good deal on this Samsung SSD from Best Buy. It was refurbished, which means someone opened and returned the drive. I needed the drive for a lenovo ThinkPad T570 upgrade. Search for DrB DIY Samsung SSD and you can see how to replace the drive in that laptop. So far, so good. The laptop is faster than before since I replaced an old 512GB. Good product. Samsung makes good storage devices.

I purchased two of the Samsung 990 Pro 1Tb NVMe 4x4 refurbished Geek Squad certified several years back when I built my current rig. It’s still extremely fast and hasn’t given me any problems yet. Would buy again!

Excellent NVME SSD. I would suggest checking the drive in the Samsung Magician to make sure it has not been abused with tons of writes. A few Terabytes or less is fine. 10 Terabytes or higher is not. Mine showed 932GB written (see picture). For reference, after I set up a brand new laptop its drive showed 935GB written. So, this refurbished 980 Pro was barely used. Testing the SSD against a brand new 990 pro in the same laptop. The laptop is a brand new HP Omen 16.1 inch with an Intel 13700HX and an RTX 4060. The 980 Pro did pretty well. See the pictures of the test. The refurbished 980 Pro Crystal Disk score was also 9.6% better (overall) compared to the factory Western Digital (SN810) drive that came with the HP Omen laptop.

These are great. Needed extra space, and the performance on this is noticeable. Highly recommended product, cannot go wrong with Samsung here.

One of the highest speed ssd with a cheap price and good quality

I was in "need" of a storage upgrade - coming from a Samsung 970 EVO 500 GB PCIe Gen 3 (boot drive). So I took a risk and purchased these certified refurbished PCIe Gen 4 SSDs, but it was worth it. I thought I was going to get heavy-used SSDs that I would just return and pay the extra money for brand-new ones, but I was surprised. They came with factory boxes and the serial numbers matched. Good. I used my SSK M.2 NVMe SSD enclosure and ran Crystal Disk Info. One SSD had only 6 hours of use with 100 % health and the other had ZERO hours of use with 100 % health! Nice! Samsung Magician benchmark showed them running as advertised. Awesome! No sticker swaps here! Now, both are running in PCIe Gen 4 M.2 slots on my rig after a clone using Macrium Reflect. Of course, your results may vary, but I would recommend purchasing these from Best Buy. Once you get them, do the work to make sure that you're getting what you paid for.

Crazy speeds. Upgrading from a 970 evo plus you can definitely notice the speed difference. Much faster load times. Definitely recommend

Excellent value! Drive was in practically new condition and arrived in original packaging. It had zero hours of use when installed. Keep in mind you will not get the maximum write/read speeds unless you have PCIE 4.0. But at this price, worth buying anyway!

Bought this m.2 refurbished and was worried id get it and it have one with 50% health or something. Recieved it today and installed, ran crystal disc and this thing has 100% health. Only been written 1.61gb. Cannot complain and its a step up from my gen 3 m.2

10/10 would recommend this was quite cheaper than anything else with 7k speeds! one came with the orignal box the other (i bought 2 at the same time) was bubble wrapped worked great though no complaints!

Works great and copy my files faster than a regular sata drive. Faster loadtime and boot times compare to a sata hard drive. Highly recommend to upgrade from this ssd drive on modern pc with m.2 slot on your motherboard.

Running 3 of these and no HDD and so far so good. 1 for windows, and 2 for games/files. No issues at all and great speeds

Simple install when bought for your build. Good speed and good amount of storage to install your games or other programs.

The drive works very well, ive been using it for about 2 weeks, drive health is high. Packaging was slightly beat up, but everything inside was great quality

Finally was able to finish my PC build an found out 1 of my 980 pro 1TB SSD was actually in fact a 970 EVO Plus 500GB SSD was very disappointed since I go to bestbuy for all my stuff

I installed it right after it shipped. Like in the picture, the SSD card sticker said it is 980 PRO 1TB. HOWEVER, when I open my laptop up and named the SSD, ITS ONLY 250GB MAX? (2nd picture). Then I checked the name of SSD thats on my laptop, IT IS NOT 980 PRO? IT 970 EVO PLUS??? (3rd picture). I do not know how my laptop say it is 970 evo but I bought the laptop just 1 week before I bought this SSD card. WORST experienced with refurbished item so far.

This is my second 980 Pro and performance is just as expected. It’s plenty fast for video editing, 3D rendering and of course for playing any games and basic Windows use. I have a large case but with little airflow over this and my 970 EVO. This is due to the CPU & GPU being liquid cooled and the two radiators and fans no where near the m.2 SSD’s. I also have the side of the case off, so this doesn’t allow the radiator fans to do any cross flow past these drives. The system is still a work in progress so eventually all this will improve. Regardless of the poor airflow over these drives, they get no hotter than 35 C under intense load. The MSI motherboard came with heatsink shields that go over the m.2 drives but have not installed them. My thinking was that they would be like blankets if there was no good airflow over them. Maybe if they had fins like actually heatsink do but these are just flat aluminum covers (with a few contour lines for esthetics) Having the SSD’s and their chips fully exposed might be better for now. My home is kept 20 to 22 C so this helps as well. I’m very happy with the temps on this drive. I am also happy with the sale price I took advantage of. I ordered online and had it shipped. I have done this many times now, with BestBuy, as well as order online and pickup in person where they bring it to your car or actually walk inside to get it. It’s always a great experience.

I got this SSD for my PlayStation 5 to expand my space. As the PS5 only comes with 875 GB out the box. I was only able to have 6-10 games available to have downloaded at a time. With Horizon Forbidden West & God Of War Ragnarok both coming out this year, I knew I needed more space ASAP. So shortly after the 2021 Holiday Season, I lucked out getting this out not only on sale but also with the Open-Box discount. I purchased this version w/o a heatsink as you can install your own if you buy it online. I waited a month to write this review to make sure I had no issues. With my own heatsink installed to the SSD & downloading 6 games to it this far, I had no issues with it whatsoever. Even if you can't get this on sale, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product to anyone in the market for it! Easy to install & can be done in under 20 mins.
