Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Geek Squad Certified Refurbished BD-J5700/ZA Blu-ray player's Wi-Fi streaming capabilities, affordable price, and ease of use. Many also praised the picture quality and DVD playback functionality. While some users experienced issues with the remote control and lack of a power indicator light, the positive feedback on performance and streaming outweighs these concerns. The compact size was also a frequently cited advantage.

    Perfect for a Bedroom

Bought this for our basement bedroom as we don't have cable or satellite TV down there but wanted a Smart Blu-Ray player so guests could enjoy Blu-Ray Movies or Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Vudu, etc. We also don't have a wired Ethernet connection down there so having a Blu-Ray player with good Wifi built-in was important. Finally we wanted a player that wasn't going to break the bank but also sure it was going to last for many years. Pros: - Great Wifi connection: the speed and reliability is better than over Wifi connected Blu-Ray Players I've tried and is comparable to Roku. - Great selection of Smart Apps: Samsung provides the ability to download additional apps and then customize your the homescreen with your favorite apps. - Easy setup: Plug in the device, connect the TV and Player via HDMI and then continue through the setup screens. Took no more than 5 minutes to complete. - Geek Squad Protection Plan: Paying for a refurbished model always provides a little concern, but having the protection plan helps to alleviate that concern knowing that I can get it fixed or replaced if necessary. Cons: - Curved Design: It's not a big issue, but the curved design of the player makes it a bit more bulky than a traditional one. - No Lights: It's more odd than an actual con, but not being able to see any lights visible on the player to know whether its on, off or in standby mode is a bit unusual.

This is an excellent 2D blu-ray player for the price. It has a nice remote control layout and on screen user interface. Be warned that the best buy description indicates it is 3D, but it is not. If you need a player for a 3D TV, buy the Samsung - BD-J6300 instead.

    Works Fine

I have had good luck with refurbished products so far and this Blu- Ray player is no exception. I set it up it found my wifi quickly, though I don't use it for Netflix etc. I use a Roku box that I already had. Tried it out and the player played the Blue Ray Disc just fine. I bought this because I replace a working dvd/vcr combo unit that was taking up a lot of space, don't remember last time I put a vhs tape in. Also came with the remote, no batteries.

    Missing Remote

The description stated it came with a remote, but it arrived without one, making it essentially unusable since there are no controls on the player itself (except for on/open). If you have a universal remote, you could get it to work I guess. Some previous reviewers noted the lack of remote, others stated that there was a remote, luck of the draw I guess. Item was returned same day it was delivered. Too bad, it was a great deal.

    Died After 3 Years

I originally purchased this Blu Ray player in 08/2017. It worked well and overall was a good unit. It wasn't used very much and never by any children. Yesterday, I turned on the unit and it attempted to startup. I looked for a disk in the tray and would flash the startup menu over-and-over. I would then get a 'no connection' message on my television. It seems to no longer read any disks and you cannot access any of the streaming options. Tried unplugging it overnight but that didn't help. I am disappointed in this Samsung Blu Ray player because it wasn't used very much and it should have lasted longer. We have a Samsung television that has worked great and thought the Blu Ray would perform as well. Not so. I would avoid this player.
