After using the sound bar with my series 2 Samsung tv, I noticed I could barely hear voices in shows and movies. I tried adjusting the settings, and nothing worked. Lots of background noise. I suppose reading further that’s what you should expect with a 2.1 channel sound bar. I returned mine and got the Samsung 5.1 channel sound bar setup and am much happier with its background noise performance.

You have the choice for bass boost, adaptive sound, game mode and they all sound the same! Even with the volume at 60. DTS is the only mode that works decent, nothing impressive but at least it’s a tad better. My old LG sound bar lost power and I was looking for a new one, Samsung seemed like the right option since I have a Samsung tv. Nope, it was a complete waste of money. 410 watts? Yeah right. More like 200. I miss my old LG sound bar.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-A450 featuring Adaptive Sound Lite that optimizes sound for your favorite video content. We appreciate your feedback regarding the performance of your soundbar.
To optimize your audio experience to your preference, try manually adjusting the audio through the built in 7 band EQ. Press and hold the Sound Control button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons. (Make sure the Sound mode is set to “STANDARD”.)
Please know, Simply changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM can help. You may want to try changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM.
This can be found at Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings. (It can also be found in the Quick Settings.)
If your Digital Output Audio Format isn't set to PCM, like for instance if you have a Dolby option selected, then you will likely notice decreased maximum volume. Dolby options are designed for surround systems (like 3.1.2 or 7.1), whereas PCM provides great sound quality for stereo speakers.
If you don't have a surround system, you will probably want to select PCM. You'll get much louder volume that way, and potentially better sound quality.
