The quality of the sound is very good except that I do not get a real deep booming bass sound that you might want with some action movies. You will probably need to pay more for a sound bar to do a quality job with a booming bass. Various sound setting are possible and you can get the low sounds without the boom.

Please know, the HW-A550 soundbar features all forward firing speakers and the sound is not designed to fire backwards. The audio experience should be much better in front of the soundbar than behind it. Please make sure you have the soundbar in the proper orientation with the Samsung logo on top, and the display facing forward.

Thank you for sharing your review of the Samsung HW-A550. We appreciate your feedback regarding your sound experience. Your soundbar features powerful bass with a 6.5” wireless subwoofer & Adaptive Sound Lite which optimizes the sound based on the content.
You can try adjusting audio performance to your liking by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, ADAPTIVE, or DTS VIRTUAL:X.
You can also press the Sound Control button on the remote (looks like a gear) to adjust TREBLE and BASS. Press and hold the Sound Control button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each of seven frequency bands. (Set sound mode to standard)
Additionally, using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.
