We bought this to improve dialogue clarity while watching movies at home, and it made it better, but dialogue was still difficult to hear, enough that the difference from our stock TV speakers isn't significant.
Further research suggests you need 3+ channels to get the best dialogue volume, so if that's what you're looking for, look at something else.
It did OK for video games.

To improve your experience, try using Dynamic Range Control (DRC). DRC lets you apply dynamic range control to Dolby Digital tracks. With DRC turned on, loud sounds will be reduced. 1) Turn off your Soundbar. 2) While the Soundbar is off, press and hold the Sound Mode button on the remote control for 6 seconds until you see “DRC ON” shown on the display. 3) To turn off DRC, repeat steps 1 and 2 above.
You can also try optimizing audio performance for your specific content by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, or ADAPTIVE.

You can try optimizing audio performance for your specific content by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, or ADAPTIVE.
You can also press the Sound Control button on the remote (looks like a gear) to adjust TREBLE and BASS.
Press and hold the Sound Control button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each of seven frequency bands.
Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer to -12 or between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.

Be sure you ck yourself for how many day you have to do a return. I called and was told about a week earlier and I was very sick and now am stuck with a pair of great pair of speakers that doesn’t sound good on my bed bedroom TV. They are Quilty Great sounding Speakers they are just not right for my small bedroom. Thanks

I bought this along with a 70 inch 4k Samsung TV and the connection was super easy with HDMI ARC. The sound quality is superb, the subwoofer is surprisingly punchy and bassy. I plan on purchasing the wireless surround sound speakers in the future to pair with this sound bar.

I had always wanted a soundbar and finally decided to bite the bullet and treat myself for Christmas. It is a game changer. Makes games and tv shows/movies sound rich and full of bass with the subwoofer. Love the different modes to choose from. This is a must buy for your tv setup!

Very disappointed with Samsung!!! The quality! Horrible!! The price of the sound bar was not wroth it!! When I purchased my first sound bar from Samsung I only paid $99 and it was awesome!!! Unfortunately we had a major thunderstorm and it killed my sound bar!! I was hoping I was going to get an upgrade but I should’ve just stuck with a $99 one

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-A550 Soundbar and for your review. We appreciate your feedback regarding the volume of your soundbar. Simply changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM can help. You may want to try changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM.
On a Samsung TV, this can be found at Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings. (It can also be found in the Quick Settings.)
If your Digital Output Audio Format isn't set to PCM, like for instance if you have a Dolby option selected, then you will likely notice decreased maximum volume. Dolby options are designed for surround systems (like 3.1.2 or 7.1), whereas PCM provides great sound quality for stereo speakers.
If you don't have a surround system, you will probably want to select PCM. You'll get much louder volume that way, and potentially better sound quality.

I highly recommend buying a sound bar for your LED 4K television, especially matching the brand of soundbar to the brand of TV. It will add tremendously to your viewing experience. It took me 1 day to realize that I absolutely needed this.

The Bluetooth connection constantly disconnects! It also does not turn on periodically, you literally have to unplug the sound bar from the power source for it to turn on again. I really wish iIcould return but im over my return date by 15 days

If you are experiencing Bluetooth connection issues, please know the following: 1) The maximum wireless signal transmission distance is about 33 ft. 2) Electronic devices may cause radio interference. Devices that generate electromagnetic waves should be kept away from the Soundbar main unit - e.g., microwaves, wireless LAN devices, etc. 3) Also, please be sure you have the latest firmware update (v.1005.2) featuring connection improvements. You can update your firmware by using a USB device.
If you continue to experience issues with the soundbar not powering on, please check that the power cord is firmly plugged into the wall outlet and power adapter. Unplug and reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and the power adapter to make sure the connection is secure. Also, please check that power adapter is firmly connected to the main unit. Disconnect the power adapter from the Soundbar and reconnect to make sure the connection is firm and secure.
