Was excited about this but I is terrible. I have moved the subwoofer everywhere in my living room and it continues to cut out. I have a Samsung in my bedroom and works perfectly. Besides the LG TV I have I am not at all impressed with this brand. If you are interested in a sound bar steer clear of this brand.

Thank you for purchasing the HW-A550 soundbar and for your review. We appreciate your feedback regarding connection difficulties with the subwoofer. Please be sure your firmware release is (v.1004.1). You can update the firmware of your soundbar by connecting a USB device containing the firmware update file.
Your issue may be caused by wireless interference. When there is a wireless device (e.g., wireless LAN) using the same frequency (5.8GHz) near the Soundbar, the wireless connection between the Subwoofer and Surround Speaker could become unstable. This will affect the quality of audio output.
In this case, the radio frequency channel of the Subwoofer and Surround Speaker can be changed as below :
1. With the power of the Soundbar on, vertically press and hold the WOOFER button on the remote controller for at least 5 seconds. • The display shows “W-CH” and the currently set radio frequency channel.
2. Press the Up/Down button on the remote controller to change the radio frequency channel, and then press the Play button. • The display shows “OK” and then the frequency is set to the changed channel. • You can exit the setting mode by pressing any button other than Up/Down or Play.
The maximum transmission distance of the main unit’s wireless signal is about 32.8 ft. but may vary depending on your operating environment. If a steel-concrete or metallic wall is between the main unit and the wireless subwoofer, the system may not operate at all because the wireless signal cannot penetrate metal.
For optimal listening performance, make sure that the area around the wireless subwoofer and the Wireless Receiver Module is clear of any obstructions.

Sound is different than display in store. I was very disappointed. It is very difficult to set up. Had a tech friend install. He also was disappointed in the sound.. Store tech knew very little about this product I didn’t want a huge speaker with the sound bar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can try adjusting audio performance to your liking by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, ADAPTIVE, or DTS VIRTUAL:X.
You can also press the Sound Control button on the remote (looks like a gear) to adjust TREBLE and BASS. Press and hold the Sound Control button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each of seven frequency bands. (Set sound mode to standard)
Additionally, using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.
For expert sound adjustments, with the sound mode set to standard, press and hold the Sound Control button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each of seven frequency bands. This will allow further control for the sound specific to your environment.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-A550 Soundbar and for your review. We appreciate your feedback regarding the volume of your soundbar. Simply changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM can help improve the overall sound performance.
If you don't have a surround system, you will probably want to select PCM. You'll get much louder volume that way, and potentially better sound quality. If your Digital Output Audio Format isn't set to PCM, for instance if you have a Dolby option selected, then you will likely notice decreased maximum volume. Dolby options are designed for surround systems (like 3.1.2 or 7.1), whereas PCM provides great sound quality for stereo speakers.
On a Samsung TV this can be found at Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings. (It can also be found in the Quick Settings.)
In addition to PCM and changing the sound modes, you can also press the Sound Control button on the remote (looks like a gear) to adjust TREBLE and BASS. Press and hold the Sound Control button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each of seven frequency bands.
Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer to -12 or between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.

Maybe it's because I have a Sony TV but this is the last time I'm buying anything Samsung. Sound bar starts crackling after extended use.. sad
Also, the remote control is not intuitive to use unfortunately. Good luck finding out how to change the volume.

It’s decent as far as sound. The quality of the bar and sub are great but the volume doesn’t seem to be very loud. Even all the way up. Ended up going back to my Vizio sound bar.
