    Picked this up on sale and I am happy with it. The sound quality is good for a medium budget, and there are several listening modes. You will not find wifi connectivity or smart device functionality so you will need to look at higher priced products if those features are important to you.

    Sound quality isn’t as loud as it can be. The soundbar constantly seems to have to be re paired with the tv every day. When it works its pleasant to have, Bluetooth capabilities are good, Samsung definitely needs to polish their products better. Especially the more expensive ones

      Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-A650 Soundbar and for your review. We appreciate your feedback regarding the volume of your soundbar. Simply changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM can help. You may want to try changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM.

      On a Samsung TV this can be found at Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings. (It can also be found in the Quick Settings.)

      If your Digital Output Audio Format isn't set to PCM, like for instance if you have a Dolby option selected, then you will likely notice decreased maximum volume. Dolby options are designed for surround systems (like 3.1.2 or 7.1), whereas PCM provides great sound quality for stereo speakers.

      If you don't have a surround system, you will probably want to select PCM. You'll get much louder volume that way, and potentially better sound quality.

    Bought this today for $210 and hooked it up. Was looking to upgrade from a very old (like 10+ years) logitech z2300 2.1 that runs off a basic audio jack. Switching back and forth the audio inputs and I think the z2300 wins sadly. Im not an audiophile at all. just want decent bass (which this does not come close to even with bass boost) and clear audio from the sound bar. I tried the different sound settings and the 2.1 i have now sounds clearer to me. I think the z2300 has an 8inch woofer but i could be wrong and i think this one must be 6". definitely not worth $400. Its maybe worth $200 but its just not for me I suppose. Setup was easy and I am in a small bedroom. I think i'll have to find something more powerful, esp. with the bass.

      By design, the purpose of the subwoofer is to reproduces low frequency sounds and not musical tones. It adds rich tones and deepens sound effects, like the rumbles of an explosion or the depth in bass guitars and drums.

      There are three adjustments that can be made for bass and subwoofer:
      1) Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down

      2) Adjust the bass control by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (gear icon) on the remote control, then select BASS to increase the level. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

      3) Press the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then select BASS BOOST mode. This will provide you with a larger emphasis on bass sound.

      For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics.

    We are happy with our purchase. However, some of the feature in changing from one mode to another are not as noticeable as our last Soundbar by Samsung. Also, when you turn on the tv it does take a second or two for the sound to come on not used to waiting for it.

    This was for the TV room. One of the perks is the subwoofwer is bluetooth, you can have it in a separate room. We choose to have it behind the couch to get the extra cinematic experience. We had fun trying different movies and music to test the range of sound.

    My Samsung A650 soundbar has been a godsend to us. We are seniors and have a problem hearing speech on tv without blowing out our ears on the other tv sounds. We now have rich overall sound and conversations clear and crisp. Wish we had done this sooner.

    Love using this. Nice sound. It was work figuring out how to pair it to the tv and woofer. I ended up calling my cable company. They walk me through set up over the phone. In the future I’ll call them sooner. Something weird happened twice now, it makes a vibration sound until I change channels and come back. Odd.

    I replaced my old bose cinemate (first version) with this. The center channel really helps bring out the vocal tracks on shows. This means I don't have to crank the volume up to hear talking, and quickly mute when explosions go off.
