Great product for the price. Still trying to figure out the slight delay from people speaking on TV and the feedback from the soundbar. I am going to resync the soundbar to see if that will do the trick. Sound is clear and 100% better than the TV speakers. Overall would recommend this product.

Sound is good, the buttons took a little getting used to. I haven’t turned it up to it’s full capacity out of respect for my neighbors but it’s is rather loud from what I have gone up to.

      Hello papacherry86,

Thank you for sharing your experiences with the HW-B450 Soundbar. I am sorry to see that your setup has been less than ideal.

For the HW-B450 Soundbar we do recommend using a Digital Optical cable as this will give you the best connection available.

Using the soundbar remote, press the SOUND CONTROL button until you see AUDIO SYNC scroll across the LED display on the soundbar. From there you will then just the UP/DOWN buttons on your remote to adjust between 0 to 300 milliseconds to correct any delay.

Aesthetically, the soundbar is what you’d expect from a compact sound system solution. The build quality is top-notch, however. I appreciate the cloth cover for the drivers and subwoofer, and the matte-black brush aluminum finish makes it look sleek. At a little below 34”, it fits almost anywhere in front or below a 32” TV or bigger. It is also quite light and easy to move around since weighing only 3 lbs. This makes it easier to install it on the wall with the included hardware. The same goes for the subwoofer, as it is not as big as other Samsung woofers I have. As far as connectivity. This soundbar is very limited with wired optical and Bluetooth support only. So keep that in mind. It is best if your TV or device supports optical connection. I wish it had a 3.5mm jack at least. Pairing wireless via BT is quite easy and although most smart TVs support that, I highly recommend checking if this is possible before choosing this bar. When connected wirelessly, I had a hard time syncing the audio through the bar and depending on the source, it couldn’t be done. It synched well with my mobile device and tablet, had a very slight (but acceptable) lag with the TV while gaming, but I had massive sync issues with a projector. Out of the box, I found the audio signature pleasant with a warm quality to it. Although not as precise, there is a good amount of bass with good extension. The mids are slightly recessed and the treble is there, but not as clear as I’d like. Nevertheless, it works great with most video content, especially action flicks. I am glad that the soundbar has multiple EQ modes, including “Voice Enhance Mode” which allows for better dialogue audio and does help in most cases, but I found “night mode” to be the best for such content. While the soundbar can get very loud, I found that I had to keep it at 15 or above in a small to medium-size room. There is some distortion at high volume though. Supporting Dolby Audio / DTS 2.0 Virtual:X technology, I was somewhat disappointed of the surround effect. While channel separation is well defined -mostly left/right, the effect heavily depends on the content’s own audio coding. So basically, experiences may vary. The best audio enhancements, as already mentioned, come when connected via optical cable, which is included. On Bluetooth, the effect is very subtle. As far as music, it does the job. It is not super clear, but if you are not listening critically, it is certainly enjoyable. The bass has body, the midrange is good enough, and the highs seems clear. Again, at higher volumes, some genres such as Jazz and orchestra become messy or fatiguing after a while. In the end, this is as basic as you’d expect from a quality soundbar. This applies to connectivity, sound quality, surround effects, and functionality. For the original MSRP, I am not sure. However, on special price, it's a steal and I would highly recommend checking it out -especially if you have a Samsung TV. In my case, this bar was a great option to enjoy with my projector theater setup.

OK BUDGET SOUNDBAR + SUBWOOFER – NO HDMI / 3.5MM

SAMSUNG - HW-B450/ZA 2.1CH SOUNDBAR WITH DOLBY AUDIO/ DTS 2.0 CHANNEL - BLACK MODEL: HW-B450/ZA OK BUDGET SOUNDBAR + SUBWOOFER – NO HDMI / 3.5MM The B450 is an OK entry level soundbar with external wireless subwoofer. It is best suited for legacy (older) or budget TV’s for achieving superior sound compared to internal TV speakers. The B450 does a good job of outperforming the TV speakers, that part is a no brainer. In reality, the only practical way to attach it to your TV is via the included Optical TOS cable. Typically connecting a soundbar to a TV via Bluetooth produces unacceptable lag. In my case I wanted to connect the B450 to a modern TV/Monitor (also a Samsung), but I was shocked that the B450 did not include an HDMI input. The TV does not have Digital Optical output, so my only option to connect was Bluetooth, which had too much lag and distortion. I usually don’t complain about missing features or capabilities, since you can read the specs before you buy something. In 2023 it never dawned on me to double check to see if a “modern” soundbar had an HDMI input. Every soundbar I have used or tested over the last several years has had an HDMI input. PROS - Nice Remote - Wireless Subwoofer - Included Optical Cable - Lighted Display Readout - Buttons on the bar (when you can’t find the remote) CONS - Only OK sound Quality - No HDMI audio Input limits connectivity - Subwoofer is big for the limited sound it delivers SETUP The setup was very easy, plug it in turn it on. It was already pre-paired, which I did not realized at first, because there was almost no sound coming from the subwoofer. On the remote there is a button called “woofer”, carefully move it up or down to slightly increase the volume on the subwoofer. I say carefully, because at first when I pressed it, it only showed “0” on the soundbar display. The difference between pushing the button straight down and toggling it forward or backwards is very slight. PERFORMANCE TV – GOOD Just connecting it to a TV via the optical cable give you an instant boost in audio quality. If your primary intent is louder, fuller sound from your TV shows and movies, then B450 does a respectable enough job in this role, at this price point. I was not blown away in terms of audio quality, but that is pretty subjective and your taste may be different. You should expect, and the B450 delivers, at least 1 step up from built in TV speakers. If you felt your TV sound was a grade “D” in sound, then you would probably find the B450 giving you a grade “C” experience, and so on. Don’t expect to jump to a grade of “B” without spending at least $2X and “A” without spending $4X. MUSIC – BLUES, ROCK, POP - FAIR Connecting over Bluetooth, streaming from my phone was underwhelming. Most of my audio library is MP3 encoded at very high-quality settings. Vocals POP music was really bad. The sweet spot for these speakers seems to be just above midrange. While I could hear the vocals pretty clearly, they were weak, and the rest was distorted. BLUES started out really good (in the instrumentals – guitar), and I had really high hopes, but as the songs progressed there was massive bass and high-end treble distortion. CLASSIC ROCK sounded the best where loudness was more important than quality. With any selection, anything over 30% volume was unlistenable (to me) due to distortion. OVERALL I think the B450 is best suited for a small room, relatively quiet listening on an older TV. SUMMARY Audio is highly subjective and greatly influenced by the listener, the source material, and the environment. If you are in the market for an entry level soundbar with detached subwoofer, the B450 is worth a listen. I am super picky about audio devices. They don’t have to be the most expensive. I have plenty of affordable audio devices. They do have to perform well across the full audio spectrum and a variety of sources. For me, and my taste the B450 does not meet these requirements. Many of my Bluetooth speakers easily outperform the B450. Especially the lack of an HDMI input immediately limits where I can even consider using the soundbar. My rating might seem high, for many of my concerns, but again if you just want a good basic soundbar for your TV this B450 is well suited for this use.

Samsung HW-B450/ZA 2.1ch Soundbar is a good soundbar if you have a small room, I currently have a small basement and it works perfectly. I love the simplified design of this sound bar it looked premium. I just bought a Samsung 43” tv and and it compliment the whole package, the remote control continues with samsung great controller design that look simple and the metallic black looks outstanding. on the setting you have Treble, Bass and Sub levels to adjust on your preferred audio level of comfortability, the soundbar also comes with other Sound Modes as presets you can choose ranging from: Bass Boost, Surround Sound, Game, and last the one I chosen was the Adaptive sound, since I’m using this in my small basement space adaptive mode works very well for me. there’s also setting to adjust the voice clarity as well called Voice Enhance, im glad more soundbar is adding this feature it’s a handy one. setting up the sound bar was fairly simple, it came with mounting brackets that I used right away. on the back you have the power plug , USB and Optic cable to connect on the tv. the only thing I don’t like is I wish more soundbar on lower end support HDMI arc, without it im back to using two remote just to enjoy my experience. this soundbar does deliver fantastic sound and the sub is pretty powerful. the room feels more field with audio after having this 2.1 soundbar. not much of a complain beyond no HDMI arc support. but for the price I highly recommend this, if you the type of people who enjoy soundbar in your gaming space then this one is a perfect contender for that.

Thank you for purchasing the HW-B450 Soundbar and sharing your review with us. Your feedback is very important to us and will be shared with our internal teams.

If your soundbar is connected to your TV with an optical cable, you can control the volume and mute the soundbar using your Samsung TV's remote.

      1) Use the TV remote to navigate to Settings, select Sound, and then select Sound Output on your Samsung TV.
      2) Select your Samsung soundbar, and then select Close. Now you can use your TV remote to adjust volume and mute the soundbar. The soundbar should also turn on and off with the TV.

Other manufacturer’s remotes may have to be enabled on your soundbar. First, turn Off the Soundbar. Once powered off, push up and hold the WOOFER button for 5 seconds. Each time you push the WOOFER button up and hold it for 5 seconds, the mode switches in the following order: “OFF-TV REMOTE” (Default mode), “SAMSUNG-TV REMOTE”, “ALL-TV REMOTE”. Please also make sure your speaker settings on the TV are set to External Speaker.

Sound bar The sleek & compact soundbar will fit almost under any TV, I have placed the bar right under the TV which adds to the overall TV cabinet décor. The bar is lightweight so it can be easily moved around if needed. It can be wall-mounted with included hardware. The subwoofer is not too large, and I have placed it right next to the sofa just to keep it a little distant from the soundbar. The distance adds to the overall impact of the sound quality. The next big thing was the connectivity ease, as I already have Samsung 75” inch so it was instantly paired with the soundbar without any issue. As I like to keep minimum use of wires so haven’t tried connecting via optical cable, but it can be done that way too. The moment it was on, the first thing we played was music and the overall sound quality was impressive. I didn’t expect this level of quality with this size of soundbar. The other impressive feature is the availability of multiple modes to support different activities. The subwoofer provides the right bass for each mode, be it an intense action movie, or exciting sports, or a movie. The bass boost feature gives the distant thunder to add to the listening experience with a click of a button on the remote. All the modes and other features can easily be controlled and operated from the remote including the subwoofer. Overall, this is a quality package at a great price.

This is a nice soundbar with subwoofer for a small room. The soundbar is not too big and is light. It comes with mounting brackets if you want to mount it on the wall. The remote comes with batteries. It supports many inputs including bluetooth. You can connect other devices such as phones and tablets and play music off of them. I didn't try this since I will mainly use it with a TV. One big thing to note is it doesn't have HDMI ARC support. Newer TVs have this but you can connect using optical cables. These cables are also included. All TVs should have optical cable support even without ARC. So here is the good news and bad news. My bedroom has a Hisense TV and it works fine using the optical cables. But you can't control the volume of the TV and soundbar together. I was hearing echos at first but realized the TV speakers were also on. I had to lower the sound to one bar and turn up the soundbar volume up. I tried it in my living room TV. I have a Samsung 75" there. Because both soundbar and TV are made by Samsung, the TV recognized the soundbar and immediately switched to it. The TV remote can be used to control the sound to whichever the sound output is set to. So if you have a Samsung TV, they will work better together. The remote looks too identical though. I ended up putting it back in my bedroom. It sounds better there since it's a smaller room. Our living room is bigger and I don't think it's "big and powerful" enough. Our bedroom is about 250 sq/ft and sounds really good.

Im not super techy annnnd I'm a lil finicky but let me tell you... i am satisfied with this purchase. This is my first Soundbar and it makes the sound on my Samsung TV give movie theater vibes. I need another for my Master Bedroom and I might just get the same one... it's that good. Bass bumps and it connected to my Samsung phone with no issue. Love the sound quality its a super difference from the stock sound on the TV. I'm hard of hearing so the TV speakers were just not enough. I would have to turn the speakers on the TV up so loud it was driving my family nuts. This speaker comes with a great sub so you get the deep base i love to hear in my movies. It was super easy to pair the sub with the main speaker bar and it was easy to set it up with my TV. It comes with multiple ways to hook to your TV including an included optical cable and that's the rout I went with but you can also pair it by blue tooth or rca cables. Then to top it off you have different setting to give you game mode, movie mode and several others. It comes with a remote control so you don't have to get up to change the volume of the sound bar you can do everything from the remote. Also you have your base and treble settings. The sound quality for a cheaper priced sound bar is par with more expensive soundbars so you get great bang for your buck. Well worth every penny love it.

The listening experience provided from this sound bar is night and day compared to my old sound bar of 5 years ago. It has the ability to turn background music into foreground music. It draws out all the nice little nuances you may have missed if you were only watching movies with TV speakers or listening to music through your phone. One thing that I appreciate about this set up is that the subwoofer isn't punchy. The lows just don't bellow out like my old one. I can actually hear the booms rise and fall in movies and in music. The bar itself has the range to tackle any genre of music I've thrown at it so far. The Bluetooth connection is solid and holds true. But if you really want to draw every drop of sound, I highly recommend using the optical cable whenever possible. Surround sound is amazing. To me it does have that movie theater quality sound, but this time you can fine tune the settings to your liking. The sound profiles are lacking but I really didn't need to adjust anything. I use surround sound for movies and gaming and the other for watching news, listening to podcasts, or other voice centered media. Either setting gets great results. I guess the only thing I could wish for was some RCA inputs so I could connect my turntable. There are other work arounds if I use the USB input and a converter cable, so I can't mark it down for not having it. Other than that, this bar turns the listening experience into a nice tapestry of sound and blends it all together very well.
