    Set up was kinda easy but figuring how to set up woofer seems like I don’t hear anything from that item.

      Hi MaryannM,

      We appreciate you taking a moment to review the HW-B550D Soundbar.

      When powered on for the first time, the subwoofer should automatically connect to the soundbar wirelessly. If the auto-connection process fails, you can try manually connecting the sub to the soundbar.

      Before performing the manual connection procedure, check whether the power cables for the Soundbar and subwoofer are connected properly and make sure that the Soundbar is turned off.

      Press and hold ID SET on the rear of the subwoofer for at least 5 seconds. The red indicator on the rear of the subwoofer turns off and the blue indicator blinks. Press and hold the Up button on the remote control for at least 5 seconds. The ID SET message appears on the display of the Soundbar for a moment, and then it disappears. The Soundbar will automatically power on when ID SET is complete. The LINK LED indicator stops blinking and glows a solid blue when a connection is established between the Soundbar and the Wireless Subwoofer.

    It was mentioned that the open box product was in excellent conditon. But, after going to Best Buy for pickup, I found that the speaker had no cables or remote with it, also the condition of the speaker was very very bad. Though I didn't hear how the speaker sounded, I am giving the lowest stars for the way the product was handled.

    Not connecting to tv, when you turn on the TV. We tried to connect it to the TV but it is not easy

      Hi WalterH,

      We appreciate you taking a few moments to review the Samsung HW-B550D Soundbar.

      The HW-B550 features three ways to connect to an external device: HDMI (ARC), digital optical audio, and Bluetooth wireless audio technology. If your TV is compatible with one of these three audio connections, you should have no issue connecting the soundbar to your TV.

      If you are connecting wirelessly to the TV via Bluetooth, please follow these steps:
      1) Press the PAIR button on the remote to enter BT PAIRING mode. You can also press the SOURCE button on the top panel and then select BT. “BT” changes to “BT PAIRING” in a few seconds automatically or changes to “BT READY” if there is a connect record. If BT READY appears, press and hold the SOURCE button on the top panel of the Soundbar for more than 5 seconds to display BT PAIRING.
      2) Select the Bluetooth sound mode on your TV (See your TV's user manual for assistance)
      3) Select “[AV] Samsung Soundbar Standard Series” from the list on the TV’s screen. An available Soundbar is indicated with “Need Pairing” or “Paired” on the TV’s Bluetooth device list. To connect the TV to the Soundbar, select the message, and then establish a connection.
      When the TV is connected, [TV Name] → “BT” appears on the Soundbar’s front display. You should now hear TV sound from the Soundbar. Once you have connected your soundbar for the first time, use the “BT READY” mode to reconnect.

      If the TV provides an ARC port, connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI IN (ARC) port. We recommend you use a coreless HDMI cable if possible.

    I got this unit at a great price but they did not have the correct power cord for the sound bar. I had to go back 2 times and they couldn’t figure out how to replace it. I ended up having to buy a power cord from Amazon.

    It disconnects from your TV every other day. I’ve spent hours with customer support, then tell you to call the TV manufacturer and they can’t help. Unplug this and that and it’ll work a bit.

      There are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot your Soundbar.

      First, you will want to download the latest software for your Soundbar. You can download the firmware directly from Samsung’s website by clicking “Support” in the top right corner. Then go to “Manuals & Software” > “TVs & Home Audio” > “Home Audio” > “Sound Bars”. From there, you can select the HW-B550D under Standard Series.

      Download the update and install it via USB thumb stick to your soundbar. If you need additional help, there are how-to instructions on this page. Please know that Samsung Customer Service is here to assist as well.

      Please verify that you are running the latest firmware on your TV. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV. Go to: Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.

      First, try doing a soft reset, unplug the soundbar from the outlet for roughly 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

      If this still does not correct your issue, then do a hard reset. With the Soundbar on, press the + & - Volume buttons on the body of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset.

    Found the sound bar to be very average, but it was not suited for my application and I had to return it. I wish I had more options as to how to connect to a monitor type of television as the Bluetooth feature didn’t work for me.

      You can optimize your audio performance to your liking by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, ADAPTIVE, DTS VIRTUAL:X, STANDARD.

      By pressing the TONE CONTROL button, you can adjust the volume of the treble or bass sound. Press the button to select TREBLE or BASS and then adjust the volume between -6~+6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

      Press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons. (Make sure the Sound mode is set to “STANDARD”.

      Additionally, using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the subwoofer’s volume between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.

      With the optional SWA-9200S Wireless Rear Speaker Kit connected you can adjust the volume by using the provided Soundbar remote. Press CH LEVEL and select REAR LEVEL, then use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.

    THOUGHT IT WOULD SOUND MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT IT DID. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL SAMSUNG SOUNDBARS AND THOUGHT THEY SOUNDED OK. THIS WAS ONE OF THEIR LOWER END SOUNDBARS, SO I GET IT. I JUST KNOW OTHER BRANDS AT THIS PRICE SOUND BETTER.
