      You may be able to adjust the HW-C400 Soundbar volume using the TV’s remote control used for the TV by adjusting the settings within the soundbar.

      This function can be used with IR remote controls only. Bluetooth remote controls (remote controls that require pairing) are not supported. Set the TV speaker to External Speaker to use this function.
      1) Turn Off the Soundbar.
      2) Push up and hold the WOOFER button for 5 seconds. Each time you push the WOOFER button up and hold it for 5 seconds, the mode switches in the following order: “Samsung-TV Remote” (Default mode), “Off-TV Remote”, “All-TV Remote”. The LED indicator status changes each time the mode is changed.

    I'm not an audiophile. But this sounds just fine. What I cannot comprehend is the horrible choice in volume adjustment. Both the remote, with its rediculous tiny sliver like button, to the imperceptibly small increments it moves. I have to hold the button way too long for any adjustment. Really strange choice, in my opinion.

      I’m sorry to hear that you’re not fully satisfied with the performance of your HW-C400 Soundbar.

      If your soundbar is connected to your TV with an optical cable, you can control the volume and mute the soundbar using your Samsung TV's remote.

      1) Use the TV remote to navigate to Settings, select Sound, and then select Sound Output on your Samsung TV.
      2) Select your Samsung soundbar, and then select Close. Now you can use your TV remote to adjust volume and mute the soundbar. The soundbar should also turn on and off with the TV.

      Other manufacturers’ remotes may have to be enabled on your soundbar. First, turn Off the Soundbar. Once powered off, push up and hold the WOOFER button for 5 seconds. Each time you push the WOOFER button up and hold it for 5 seconds, the mode switches in the following order: “OFF-TV REMOTE” (Default mode), “SAMSUNG-TV REMOTE”, “ALL-TV REMOTE”. Please also make sure your speaker settings on the TV are set to External Speaker.

    It’s not as loud as I expected. It does sound more clear than my tv speaker but it’s not loud.

      You can optimize your audio performance to your liking by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing SURROUND SOUND or STANDARD.

      By pressing the TONE CONTROL button, you can adjust the volume of the treble or bass sound. Press the button to select TREBLE or BASS and then adjust the volume between -6~+6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

      Press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons. (Make sure the Sound mode is set to “STANDARD”.

      Additionally, using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the subwoofer’s volume between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.

    Have not been able to get the system to work veven though the blue tooth is connected between surrondsound and the television.

    We bought this soundbar with a Samsung U7900 55 inch TV and upon setting it up realized that it does not have an HDMI port, but only an optical port. That was fine until we realized the TV does not come with an optical port, so the only way to connect the two was with Bluetooth, which didn’t work for us. This was after discussion with employees on cyber Monday, so we were quite surprised. We had to return the soundbar and upgrade to a 5.1 system that has an HDMI port. We don’t know how the sound was as we couldn’t use it.

      Please know that many of the buttons on your remote have multiple functions. For example, the Volume button is moved UP/DOWN to adjust volume, and to MUTE the sound, you need to PRESS it in. Pressing it a second time will unmute.

    Poor quality sound. I don’t think the sound quality was any better than the TV sound. Several disadvantages, such as no Dolby or Q Symphony compatibility.

    I connected the bar to my Samsung TV; it worked for a good 2 months. Now every time I try to reconnect the sound bar to my TV, it will work for about 10min and disconnect.

      Thank you for taking a few moments to review the Samsung HW-C400 Soundbar. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the sound occasionally dropping from your soundbar. You may first want to check the cable connection of the soundbar to the TV or external device to ensure it is secure, and properly connected to the correct port.

      In addition to checking the connections of the soundbar, please make sure your soundbar is using the latest firmware version. Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. You can update your firmware by using a USB device.

      You may also want to initialize your soundbar by pressing the - and + (volume) buttons on the top of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. “INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset. Please know, this will reset all settings on the soundbar back to default; any sound adjustments will need to be performed again.

      Should you continue to experience audio dropouts, and are connected wirelessly, please use the included cable to connect the soundbar to the TV. Using a wired connection instead of wireless often eliminates the issue entirely and improves the user experience.

    It’s a decent sound bar, but unless I have the volume way up, it’s not much louder than my actual tv and I have troubles hearing.
