Better than the TV but that's about it

Compared to my $170 Logitech computer speakers, this is lacking in almost every category. Bass: Even with the sub level all the way up, Bass set to +6, and EQ set to try and maximize the response, it seems to cut off at a pretty high frequency. This leaves you with wanting to keep it centered in the room because you can hear where it is place. EQ, lowest frequency adjustment is 150hz. I would expect no less than 80Hz but by the sounds of it, it might cut-off above 80, making the above mentioned "sub"woofer more of a mid-bass box. It says that it is compatible with SmartThings but my phone's app couldn't find it after many attempts and resets. Samsung S24 Ultra I don't write many bad reviews but I feel that I either got something defective or people are only praising this because it sounds better than the built-in speakers. This is going back, sadly.

      Hello Mugs,

Thank you for taking a moment to review the Samsung HW-Q60C soundbar.

You can try a hard reset. With the Soundbar on, press the + & - Volume buttons on the body of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. The LED display changes as follows: White moves from left to right and right to left, and the middle LED blinks Cyan 3 times. Then the middle LED will blink RED and turn off.

To manually register you device to smart things try the following steps.
      1. Launch Smartthings app and tap add.
      2. Tap Device.
      3. Tap by device and select AV.
      4. Select Samsung
      5. Select Agree.
      6. Tap Start
      7. Select Location and Room.
      8. Wait until the Samsung Soundbar is registered with your Samsung account.

Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. When the Soundbar is connected to the Internet, Auto Update allows software to update automatically even when the Soundbar is turned off. You can also update by using the SmartThings app.

If not connected to the internet, you can download it onto a USB device, and then upload it to your soundbar - no wireless connection required. Connect the USB drive that contains the update firmware to the SERVICE port of the Soundbar.

1.Go to the Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → click on the “Support” option in the upper left corner.
2.Click on “Manuals & Software” from the pop-up list > TVs & Home Theater > Home Theater > Select your model
      2. Download the firmware file (USB type).
      3. Unzip the file to create a folder with the file name.
      4. Store the created folder in a USB and then connect it to the Soundbar.
      5. A sequence of “UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON” will appear on the display 3 times. This will take around 6 minutes.
      - During update, do not turn it off or remove the USB.
      - If “UPDATE” does not appear on the display window, remove the power cord from the Soundbar and then reconnect it.
      - When the latest version is installed, no update is performed.
      - Depending on the USB type, update may not be supported.
      6. After the 3 cycles are complete, the Soundbar will restart and last source used will appear on the display for about 20 seconds and then it will go off (“UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON”) 3 times “D.IN” > off

If your soundbar fails to update or is experiencing problems, please contact Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM -12AM EST (Ask for Soundbars), 7 days a week. Our LiveChat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.

      RCpogi,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re dissatisfied with the performance of your HW-Q60C Soundbar.

Here are some tips to manually optimize your audio experience by pressing the SOUND MODE button to select the desired pre-equalized sound setting. The choices are SURROUND SOUND – GAME – ADAPTIVE SOUND – DTS VIRTUAL:X – STANDARD.

To control the volume of the treble or bass press the TONE CONTROL button, and then adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons on your soundbar remote.

Press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons. (Make sure the Sound mode is set to “STANDARD”.)

Press the CH LEVEL button so you can adjust the volume of each speaker. CENTER LEVEL can be adjusted using the UP/DOWN buttons from -6 to +6.

With the optional SWA-9200S Wireless Rear Speaker Kit connected you can adjust the volume by using the provided Soundbar remote. Press CH LEVEL and select REAR LEVEL, then use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.

If you would like louder (or softer) bass from your subwoofer, you can adjust the level by rocking the WOOFER button on the soundbar remote, and then adjusting the level from -6 to +6. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.

If you need more help, Samsung is here for you. Please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST (Ask for Soundbars), 7 days a week. Our Live Chat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.

It has connection issues randomly. Randomly becomes out of sync with power cycle of TV. Dolby Digital audio is out of sync and the adjustments don’t seem to fix it. It’s okay. But it has bugs and issues. The lower tier soundbars are much better from experience

The product itself and sound isn’t bad. The fact it is not connecting to the TV after spending time reading online guides and what not is very frustrating. It worked great for a while 5 minutes then wouldn’t connect via ARC. I am really saddened that it seems my older sound bar works better than this one.

      Hello lucky48,

Thank you for your review of the Samsung HW-Q60C soundbar.

In all configurations (Optical, Bluetooth, ARC, and Wi-Fi) when the TV is turned ON, the Soundbar will turn ON. If your soundbar is not turning on, it could be due to another reason. For example, if the Soundbar was used to connect to another device (say a smart phone), then it will remember the last device (smart phone) and wait for a command from that device (the smartphone) and ignore the TV ON command.

You may want to try using a HDMI-ARC connection to the TV. When the TV turns ON, it will send a command to turn on the Soundbar and forces the source on the Soundbar to change to HDMI-ARC. This would make the Soundbar change the source from the prior state it was in.

If you need additional help, please reach out to Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST (Ask for Soundbars), 7 days a week. Our LiveChat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.
