Review. Great.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great buy for under $300. I got lucky with an open box excellent for $258 plus a $50 gift card on top of that. Sub isn’t the most powerful but it still sounds pretty good for the price range. Surround adds a nice touch as well when listening to an action movie or playing a game like warzone or splitgate. Very easy to set up and sync. I have a 65” hisense u6g I picked up for 649. Very pleased with this budget set up for under a grand.

Great for the Price
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good soundbar for the price. I bought an open box for more than half off. It was only missing the hdmi cord, which I already had an extra one. Set up was pretty simple, which I was able to do(I almost paid a installer $150 to set-up). Toggling through the prompts for the ideal sound was very easy. The sound is great. Especially the surround sound. I'm very pleased and I love a great bargain!

I went back and forth on whether to get a dolby atmos system or not. Im glad i didnt spend the extra money! This sounds system is excellent when properly set up in the room. It sounds like you're in the movie!

Great Sound - has a mind of its own when pairing
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took away a star because it randomly connects and disconnects to devices that it remembers - wish it would just stay on the last device it was paired with. Sound quality is amazing though! No complaints about the speaker itself :)

Great until it wasn't. Faulty speaker, early doom.
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it worked the system was great. Very clear and punchy sound. But, unfortunately, I experienced some issues right out of the gate. One of the two included speakers wouldn't stay connected. I did everything I could with the wires, but somehow someway the connection would always end up going out and I'd have to readjust it. I dealt with it because the remainder of the sound other than that left channel was so good. And then tonight happened... The main bar just died. Literally died. And what killed it, you may ask? Was it a really complex 4k blu-ray with the sound cranked up to 100? Nope. In fact, I've rarely turned my system up to 40 even. SEINFELD did it! Old Seinfeld DVDs. I was halfway through an episode when, all of a sudden, I heard a poof and that was that. The lights for the connection box and the woofer were still on, but nothing worked on the main bar. Remote, volume (which wouldn't turn down), nothing. I probably owned the system for less than 2 years-ish. Oh well. Nothing is made to last anymore anyway it seems.

Great value and performance
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better than my 10 year old AV receiver setup with much larger speakers and sub. Overall great value for getting it on a nice sale and after trying 2 other soundbars. Finally found a winner! Bass is great/thumps, soundbar itself is great/clear, rear surrounds are great/clear. For me, while using optical input, this thing gets loud. So loud that I don't go over 25% volume when i want it loud and typically keep it at 16% when watching a show or playing a video game. This includes the rears that I actually put down to minus 1. Not sure why people say that Samsungs rears don't get loud, but my guess is the input signal has something to do with it(don't output PCM, do auto, dolby or DTS cus PCM is only 2 channels from what I gathered). Bluetooth low volume is an issue if the device's(phone, etc) volume isn't turned up so keep that in mind too(I turned the soundbar to 100 and it wasn't loud then I realized my phone's bluetooth volume was very low). Overall a great find and I am very pleased. It seems that some knowledge on how input signals work is needed as that would probably solve most peoples issues. Note again, I am using optical so maybe that inherently solves some other problems? For settings on the soundbar, I'd turn the bass down to -2 and treble up to +3 as that gets the bar itself to a more natural state. Don't worry, turn the woofer volume up and you're good to go.

Gr8 entry level system
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gr8 entry level surround, much better than my older model without satellites. I like the sound modes, base module gives excellent levels 4the size. Wish the satellites were wireless, but wires can be hidden easily & plenty of length 2 reach around a room. Piece of cake setup.

Great sound for the price. Love it!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not sure why some reviewers are saying the rear speakers have no sound, they work exactly how rear speakers should. Perhaps they don't understand what surround sound is. The rear speakers play sounds behind the audience, and often will play faint music or the reverb portion of the actors in a room. If you want the sound always on there are multiple setting choices that help achieve more sound out of them. The "adaptive sound" option is a great setting if you don't want to always choose between options as it systematically plays the best audio options and has slight voice enhancement. Another complaint I see on here is the feeling there isn't enough bass. I have to turn my subwoofer down because there is so much bass. Maybe those people had huge 15" woofer speakers before? Not sure, but I have to turn the subwoofer down to -6 because I live in a duplex and the bass travels. 2 recommendations when people get this set are: First do to the firmware update. The most recent when posting this is from July 2021. It is very easy and the manual walks you through it. Just go to Samsung's site and enter the model number and they too will walk you right through it. Second, set the treble to a +4 and the bass to a -2 if you want "neutral audio" from there to you can adjust to your preference. These are a great choice for a low cost, high value home theater system.

Optical Disappointment
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was fairly straight forward - may be slightly tedious to connect the rear speakers if it fails to link the 1st time around. Sound - it's not bad. Overall, it's a pleasant upgrade from the $100 Samsung Soundbar/Sub I had. However; I'm certainly glad I did not make this purchase at full price - even on sale at $279.99, I can't fully recommend this unit to a friend. Optical Input - I have it connected to my TV via optical input. For no apparent reason, the sound bar seems to "lose" connection and "mute" itself, even though the volume it clearly on and displayed. The only way I have been able to get sound back on, is by pushing the source button and cycling thru the inputs until I come back to the optical source - then it'll resume playing. This is VERY annoying, under any circumstance. Bluetooth - range is horrid to say the least. I walk 15 feet away from the soundbar and it begins to lose connection. Rear Speakers - I wasn't expecting much, however; these are REALLY subtle. I'm aware you can adjust the settings and turn them up a tad, but that doesn't make much of a notable difference. (I guess I should have known better - a true surround sound can't be compromised.) Bass - it sounds pretty crisp and clear. Not a hard hit like you'd get from a Bose, Klipsch or higher end setup, but this bass was fair for the sale price. All in all, this unit fell short for me, even at the sale price. I'll try using the HDMI connection vs the optical, however; I shouldn't have to compromise and/or have to deal with faulty equipment off rip. In addition, I've already disposed of the original box, so returning it is more of a hassle than it's worth at this point.

Posted .Hi Serge,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-Q65T and for your detailed review. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts, and your experience will be shared with our product teams.
If you are experiencing issues with no sound on occassion, you may want to try the following troubleshooting steps. Check that the cable connection is not loose. Remove the cable and connect again.
You may also want to initialize your soundbar again by pressing the - + (volume) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds. “INIT” appears on the display when the soundbar is initialized.
Please also make sure that you have the latest firmware update (v.1006.0). You can update your firmware by using a USB device. Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements, and may improve the connection of your Bluetooth as well.
There are a few things to know when it comes to the Bluetooth connection:
1) The maximum wireless signal transmission distance is about 33 ft.
2) If there is a wall between the sound bar and the Bluetooth device it may cause interference or not work at all depending on the material in the wall.
3) If there is a device that uses the same wireless frequency (2.4 GHz) near the Soundbar, interference may cause some sound interruption.

Very Good For The Price
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installation was simple and Bluetooth hook-up was easy to the wireless subwoofer, my Samsung TV, and the remote speakers. The sound is very good and I like that there are sound style (Standard, Virtual Surround, etc.) options. The remote speakers are so-so which is why I stopped at 4 stars. There is no internal option to adjust the volume of the rear speakers or to calibrate the speakers to the room. I'm going to look into whether an aftermarket gadget is available for this purpose. I switched the remote speakers with a couple of old Bose Cube speakers that I had and the sound is much better (more volume and better quality). All in all, at 4 days old, I'm quite happy with this purchase.

Posted .Hi RickA!
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-Q65T and for your review. I am glad to hear you are enjoying the enhanced audio experience with your new soundbar.
There are a few settings you can change to adjust the surround effect to your preference:
1) Make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not capable of surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote.
2) If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote.
3) Turn off Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holding the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode. Depending on your soundbar model, you may or may not have DRC.
4) Increase the volume level of the surround speakers using the Sound Control button on the Soundbar remote control. Press the Sound Control button on the soundbar remote (looks like a gear), then select REAR LEVEL and use the Up/Down buttons to adjust the volume within a -6 to +6 range.
I hope these tips help to enhance your audio enjoyment.

Excellent Value, Great Sound, Software VERY Buggy
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds great, but Samsung software is very buggy to the point of annoyance and interoperability among their own products is surprisingly (and very sadly) still terribly poor after decades of users complaining about this! Samsung may truly need a COMPLETE overhaul of their software development leadership team (for sure!). REVIEW >> So, last year I purchased & returned the Q950T (nearly $2k) so was leery of another Samsung. **THE GOOD** installation was instant. Plugged soundbar via eARC to Samsung TV (w. AppleTV over HDMI to TV), connected all speakers & instantly, it all worked perfect. After minor tuning, sounded incredible for the price (literally, **almost** as good as the Q950T!!). So happy! **THE BAD** HOWEVER, next day I tried to watch TV & normally turn on AppleTV via its fancy remote & nothing worked. Nada. I manually had to (find &) use original TV remote to turn on TV (vs. Apple remote) and eARC no longer worked either; stuck on “D.IN” never actually establishing connection to the TV again. Never. I tried all troubleshooting steps recommended & others not listed (am computer engineer :-). Nothing worked. I resorted to plugging an optical cable, which works. In the end, this system is super clunky. Need to use multiple remotes because my AppleTV no longer turns on the TV; albeit, it does work the volume controls (thank goodness!). With optical connection though, it doesn’t show the big volume numbers on TV screen anymore (0-60) it only shows the little optical connector icon when pressing up/down volume which made me realize how much I use those numerical values to set audio levels. The sound is good though (shrug). I got this on black friday almost half off deal, but if I had paid full 500 price, would have returned for sure. One final comment — if there is one complaint we keep seeing consistently and repeatedly over the last decade is the incredibly buggy (& sometimes unusable) software and interoperability among Samsung devices. I have to believe leadership has tried to fix, but whatever has been done is CLEARLY not working. PLEASE consider investing in a visionary and executioner pair who work well together because SO many other manufacturers have already proven it can be done. My two cents.

Posted .Hi jessbaker101,
Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-Q65T and for sharing your details regarding the issues experienced with the ARC and optical connections. Your feedback is important to us and will be shared with our product teams.
If you have not done so already, you may want to try updating to the latest firmware version available to the Q65T (v.1006.0). Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements.
When an update is available, you can update the Soundbar by connecting the USB drive that contains the update firmware to the SERVICE port of the Soundbar.
1.Go to the Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → click on the “Support” option in the upper right corner.
2.Click on “Manuals & Software” from the pop-up list > TVs & Home Theater > Home Theater > Select your model
2. Download the firmware file (USB type).
3. Unzip the file to create a folder with the file name.
4. Store the created folder in a USB and then connect it to the Soundbar.
5. A sequence of “UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON” will appear on the display 3 times. This will take around 6 minutes.
- During update, do not turn it off or remove the USB.
- If “UPDATE” does not appear on the display window, remove the power cord from the Soundbar and then reconnect it.
- When the latest version is installed, no update is performed.
- Depending on the USB type, update may not be supported.
6. After the 3 cycles are complete, the Soundbar will restart and last source used will appear on the display for about 20 seconds and then it will go off (“UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON”) 3 times “D.IN” > off
Please know, in all configurations (Optical, Bluetooth, and ARC) when the TV is turned ON, the Soundbar will turn ON. If your soundbar is not turning on, it could be due to another reason. For example, if the Soundbar was used to connect to another device (say a smart phone), then it will remember the last device and wait for a command from that device (the smartphone) and ignore the TV ON command.
If your soundbar and Samsung TV are connected by an optical cable, Auto Power Link will turn your soundbar on automatically when you turn on the TV. If the soundbar is not turning on with the TV, you can try the troubleshooting steps below to ensure the proper settings are enabled on your Soundbar.
1) Set the soundbar to BT READY mode by pressing Source on the remote or soundbar.
2) Press and hold the left direction on the direction pad on the remote for more than 5 seconds or until Auto Power Link appears on the soundbar display to activate or deactivate Auto Power Link.
I hope these tips help you further enjoy the soundbar experience.

Samsung HQ-Q65T Soundbar review
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent Sound. Works seamlessly with my Samsung TV. The "wireless" rear speakers aren't totally wireless. There is a wireless receiver, but the speakers do have wire that runs to this wireless receiver. Not a deal breaker, but not totally wireless either. Would have been nice for the speakers to have a receiver in them so as to avoid wires altogether. Turns on and off automatically with the TV when connected via HDMI ARC, not sure about when connected via bluetooth. I got this item on sale, so definitely worth the money.
