Firstly the unit came in an open box from a major freight company and I was worried parts would be missing or damaged but luckily the box was just damaged and open and all components were in tact. I’ve been an avid soundbar user for about ten years trying out many different configurations with movies or my playlist. As Dolby Atmos becomes more available in media (also called spatial sound) it’s cool to see how the newer speakers perform this function. The Atmos sound is vertical meaning upwards firing speakers where you should hear rain coming down or a lighting strike etc. With a soundbar the channels are separated however this is very hard to do because the speakers are all together in the actual soundbar. Honestly I have not heard a good representation of Atmos on one speaker but Samsung did a great job on this. The speaker is beautiful and looks awesome on the stand. The sound is crisp and clear in both movies and on music streaming apps etc. The sub performs flawlessly and rattles the floor and I love it. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the rear channels have to have speaker wire to the connecting box which is ok because it’s close HOWEVER I don’t want any speaker wire for a soundbar type system and I just wonder why the sub connects wirelessly but the surrounds need speaker wire. Overall this system is awesome and provides a movie theater experience and I would recommend to anyone who is on the fence.

Samsung does it again. I was in the market for a new sound system. I was looking for something innovative and that worked well with my television. Being that my television is from Samsung, I looked into the Samsung home surround sound systems. What I like the most of this unit is the rear speakers. I bought some speaker stands from amazon to have them raised. The Bluetooth technology used for the rear speakers is genius. I've had a system before and had to run wires all over my living room to have the rear speakers connected. This one just needs the control unit to pair with the main speaker and that's it. The setup is pretty quick and easy right out of the box. The wires are pretty self-explanatory as far as where they go. The only issue I had was the connection sync connection between the rear speakers to the main console. But thru several tries I was able to make the connections. Paired up with my Samsung television, the sound is incredible. It makes a huge difference. I like the Q-symphony feature that uses the sound from the television and the surround sound in sync. I would definitely recommend this product.

Really easy setup - recommend pairing with a Samsung TV as they sync very easily.
Sounds much better than the TV speakers. Q-Symphony is a little bit of a gimmick. Just using the surround sound is perfect.
Very happy with the speakers.

Good sound. Good value at a black friday price. initially wasnt connecting to the back speakers. It took many attempts to connect, but has been fine since. Remote is a bit cryptic. Could be better. Soundbar display is minimal, too minimal. Doesnt shine at anything when compared to higher end models, but is a few steps up in sound quality, clarity, and connectivity from cheap systems.

Excellent sound bar. Easy to connect and set up. Wireless and bluetooth connect instantly every time. Fits like a glove under my 75" Samsung TV (with the feet extenders flipped up). Rear speakers greatly add to the immersive effect. Sub sounds massive. I personally dial that back a bit in my space which is easy to do with the remote. Integrates perfectly with my Samsung TV (and remote) and the enhanced sound with Q-Symphony seems to be a nice bonus.
Some pro tips:
*consider matching your soundbar brand with your TV brand. Depending on your TV, you may sacrifice sound a bit for ease of use and fit but in my opinion, it's worth it.
*the "i" button on the remote will tell you what format you are listening to (i.e. dolby atmos, multi-channel pcm (5.1 or 7.1), stereo PCM, etc.
*make sure you connect via HDMI to an eARC port on your tv.
*spend some time online making sure your TV sound settings are correct for atmos to get the most out of this system and likewise with any gaming consoles like a PS5 where you need to turn a few things on, some of which are a bit counterintuitive, to get the most immersive surround sound/experience. Also, most streaming services seem to require you to have the most expensive subscription to get atmos.
*the insignia "universal" speaker stands I purchased for the rear speakers worked in the end but barely. The holes on the back of the rear speakers were tricky to make fit with the provided hardware and I had to stretch them a bit. I recommend seeing if Samsung makes or recommends stands (or sells additional hardware) for these speakers--even if it costs a bit more. It will greatly reduce your set up time.

I wasn't expecting too much from this soundbar (despite the relatively high price), but to be honest I pretty impressed. I leaned toward the Samsung because I heard that it could be detected by our recent Samsung S90C upgrade and paired to work with that TV's built-in speakers (which aren't great, but that is par for the course with modern flat screens). I'm not sure if the TV speakers add anything, but they don't really need to because the soundbar is so powerful. Because both devices are Samsung, the HDMI ARC connection worked immediately and flawlessly. And the sound is just really awesome - even at low volumes dialog is clear, bass can be felt, etc. I don't know if the ATMOS speakers are doing anything. Rear surround speakers (which connect by wires to this little rear control box, which itself connects wirelessly to the primary soundbar) are also very solid with clear sound. Main complaint I had was with the wire length for the rear speakers - it was a little too short and uses a proprietary connector on one end. I'm going to have to solder on an extension on the split bare wires that go into the speaker. But with that smallest complaint, honestly, I came away pretty impressed.

This is a really good speaker system for an open floorplan type of living room which is what i have. Soundbar and sub-woofer provide a really good sound experience. base from the woofer is powerful. Surround sound is also really great. i am giving it 4 stars only because rear speakers get disconnected sometimes and required some troubleshooting to setup.

Dynamic System!

Wanted to upgrade my outdated surround sound system in my media/sports room downstairs. I have an 84" Samsung QLED TV, but was using an old Sharp surround systems with no rear channels that I've had for years. This Samsung systems fits what I needed perfectly. The sound is noticeably more dynamic, richer, and clearer. Great full sound for movies, and football on Sundays. Since both the TV and systems are Samsung the interface with the TV was effortless. If you have a Samsung TV it will actually trigger the active sound enhancements for the room you in to activate.
The only drawback is that the rear speakers are not "completely" wireless. They require a receiver type box, that is wireless, for the speakers to be hard wire to. So, I had to end up running, and concealing speaker wire for them. Not the end of the world, but would have much more preferred a "completely" wireless setup. So the illustration (or illusion) on the box of the rear speaker setup is not completely accurate. Definitely not the end of the world for me, and would not prevent me from recommending this system to others.

For roughly a decade I've been rocking a 2.1 bar + woofer which has been impressive... for what it was at the time. Good clarity and booming lows, especially with explosions, techno/house music, and James Earl Jones' voice. Problem? The sub would lose connection for a moment at a time or randomly make a startling POP noise. "Something-something" similar frequency as WiFi being the root cause. Polk, get your stuff together and LEAVE.
Enter Samsung. After some long searching for at least a 7 channel setup I found this. 7.1.2? Cool beans. What sealed the deal was wired wireless rear speakers. What turned me away from other wireless units was the practical issue of recharcheable batteries having a finite cycle. After a while the battery life will dwindle. Solution? Hardwire it. Downside would be excess wires running across my floor.
This unit does a good job of minimizing it. While the rear speakers are wired to the receiving unit, it's only two. Big deal. At least that means no chance of them dying after popping in my second movie. It's nothing a wee bit of tucking can't solve anyhow and not to mention they're barely visible. Not the end of the world, folks.
My only gripe was the rears were too low for my liking but after cycling through to them and raising the gain by +2 it was better. Turned out the muted sound also depended on the source. You wouldn't believe how many things are still for 2-channel only. Heck, even some recent 4K discs are only 5. To make the best of this system you'll need to check the output specs, a minimum of 5.1, 7 or more if you can otherwise you'll be complaining.
Don't settle for mediocrity. Put on some Daft Punk or dedicated 7.1.2 test files from the web. They do exist. Even Samsung did for a while (according to Reddit) but pulled them from the site for no clear reason. It'd be as if I sold you a new car without any fluids in it. No coolant, gas, oil, trans, power steering, nothing... but here are your keys. Enjoy.
Anyway, this thing rocks. So far no popping sub like the Polk I had. Now I just have to get a bigger TV in the future to compliment the whole thing. It's a 55" bought 9 years ago. It's fine and all but when looking at 75" screens it puts mine to shame. Someday. If anyone's curious ~ yes, it still can utilize optical cable but don't settle for that if you can help it. e/ARC is there. Use it.

Upgraded from a 2010 Vizio SB and is a lot better! Can fill my vaulted ceiling 20x20 family room with ease. Watched a movie with a Bear and when it roared I could fill the Bass in my chair! Use it with my Sony 75" X90CL TV with stand on higher setting and it fits easily with 1/2 " to spare beneath the TV, something unable to do with a Sonos Arc SB. It's a great price to include such a nice Dolby Atmos SB AND a large Subwoofer AND nice surround sound speakers. Highly recommended.

Great sound quality especially for the price. Love how this makes the size of our TV worth it with incredible matching sound! First movie watched on this was the original Top Gun and I was blown away by the soundtrack. The only drawback would be that the rear speakers connect with wires as opposed to being Bluetooth capable.

The Samsung HW-Q850D excels in delivering a powerful and immersive audio experience. The 7.1.2 channel configuration, combined with Dolby Atmos and DTS
, provides a rich and detailed soundstage. Whether watching movies, playing games, or listening to music, the soundbar effectively creates a sense of space and depth.
The wireless subwoofer produces deep and punchy bass that enhances the cinematic experience, while the rear speakers add to the surround sound effect. Q-Symphony is particularly beneficial for Samsung TV owners, as it creates a more unified and fuller sound by utilizing both the TV speakers and the soundbar.
