      KayodeO,

Please know you are leaving a review and 1-star rating for the HW-Q930D, but we are sorry to hear of your Best Buy experience, nonetheless. You may want to consider providing feedback directly to the Best Buy store where you made your purchase.

Here are some tips to help troubleshoot your soundbar remote.

Remove the batteries, press the Power button for eight seconds, and then reinsert the batteries with the correct polarity.

Please know that many of the buttons on your remote have multiple functions. For example, the Volume button is moved UP/DOWN to adjust volume, and to MUTE the sound, you need to PRESS it in. Pressing it a second time will unmute.

If your soundbar is connected to your TV with either an optical cable or HDMI via ARC, you can control the volume and mute the soundbar using your Samsung TV's remote. The soundbar should also turn on and off with the TV.

      1) Use the TV remote to navigate to Settings, select Sound, and then select Sound Output on your Samsung TV.
      2) Select your Samsung soundbar, and then select Close. Now you can use your TV remote to adjust volume and mute the soundbar. The soundbar should also turn on and off with the TV.

Other manufacturer’s remotes may have to be enabled on your soundbar. First, turn Off the Soundbar. Once powered off, push up and hold the WOOFER button for 5 seconds. Each time you push the WOOFER button up and hold it for 5 seconds, the mode switches in the following order: “OFF-TV REMOTE” (Default mode), “SAMSUNG-TV REMOTE”, “ALL-TV REMOTE”. Please also make sure your speaker settings on the TV are set to External Speaker.

If you need more help, Samsung is here for you. Please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST (Ask for Soundbars), 7 days a week. Our Live Chat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.

My husband and I have tried a handful of soundbar systems over the years; the Samsung Q Series is by far the most expensive and highest quality. We have ours set up in the living room where we do the majority of our tv watching and all of our console gaming. In the box, there’s the main sound bar, subwoofer, two rear speakers for surround sound, power cables, remote (with batteries), and an HDMI cord. There are also mounting brackets for the main soundbar so that it does not need to take up space on an entertainment stand. The mounting screws are not included. There is also no mounting hardware included for the rear speakers. We just picked up a couple of simple speaker stands that are taller than the back of our couch and they work great. Once everything is plugged in, the speakers sync automatically. Assuming your tv is eARC compatible, the Samsung Q Series should sync with your tv’s audio system and allow you to control the volume with your tv’s remote. The brand of your tv should not matter; it works great with our Sony Bravia. Sound quality is incredible at all volumes. Voices are crisp and clear. The bass will make your entire room rumble. I personally enjoy connecting my phone via Bluetooth and jamming while working on my iPad or hanging out with our doggos. The only trouble we’ve had with the system since setting it up a few weeks ago is the occasional disconnect from our tv, which effectively mutes whatever content is playing. A simple on and off fixes this issue and we’re quickly back up and running again. Overall, we’re thrilled to have this setup in our home and would recommend it to anyone in search of a top notch surround sound system.

Like most people I’ve used an awful 3.1 soundbar for years. I decided it was finally time to upgrade and went with this. Dolby atmos is phenomenal, it really changes the experience watching movies. The sound feels and sounds like it’s coming from everywhere in the room and you can easily pin point stuff. The audio is clear and not distorted. The rear surrounds being wireless and only having to plug into a wall outlet is great, I don’t want wires around the house. The rears sound great and the top firing speakers add a new level of immersion to watching a movie. The sub is leaps and bounds better than my old one. If it was any stronger it would be too much bass in my house. With the sub on 0 it shakes stuff on my shelves. This setup is great for movies but it totally transformed gaming for me. I use it with a ps5 and I’m hearing stuff I had no clue was in these games. The sub delivers great bass and the atmos sound is incredible being able to hear everything all around you.

    Excellent Dolby Atmos Sound

Produces beautiful and powerful Dolby Atmos sound field in our 18 x 16 ft family room with a slanted ceiling. You just need to set it up properly and every movie comes alive. Sounds better than my good old Polk Audio 5.1 setup, which I thought was already good specially with its dual 10" subwoofer. The subwoofer on this Q930D is so efficient that it sounds bigger than it should be for its size and woofer size. But somehow, it just sounds big. Every explosion can be felt, every movie tracks can be heard loud and clear. Bought an "Open Box" display that they were taking down to make room for the newer models. Salesperson convinced me to buy it at an excellent price. Got lucky with it. They still look brand new and sounded great in my family room. Enjoying every movie and a little bit of music again. Have a dedicated music system for music so I don't listen to music too much on the Q930D soundbar. Glad I went with this and didn't need the Q990D, which is almost twice the price.

I am a Disabled Veteran with hearing loss and tinnitus from years of helicopter operations in Army Aviation. Watching TV has became so frustrating for me (and the family, as I constantly have to ask "what did they say?") I moved from my house with a custom in wall-home theater system I built with parts from Best buy and it was awesome!!! Unable to duplicate that again I decided a sound bar would have to suffice. But I never thought it could bring back the joy of watching my favorite shows and movies. I went to several different Best Buy stores in Northwest, Indiana for help. The care and valuable information from the employees was very appreciated. Knowledgeable and honest feedback helped me pick out the Q930D. I was looking at the JBL 500/1000 and the SONOS Arc. The JBL was comparable money but couldn't carry the bass or the surround sound of the Q930D. The SONOS was awesome but substantially more money after all the components are bought. I installed the morning of the SuperBowl, it took longer to get it out of the box than it did to set it up. Most impressive about Q930D is it's clarity, deep thumping bass and the surround is pretty darn good considering there are only 3 pieces to this unit. I have all Samsung TV's in my house and the bonus of Q-symphony is icing on the cake. It may seem like a lot of money for a sound bar when you see other sound bars for $200-$500 but this system is so much more than that.

TL;DR Samsung nailed it. The sound is very clear and it has an excellent sound stage. I have not had the best of luck with Samsung products in the past so I came into the store looking for anything but this soundbar. The store manager listened to my wants and concerns and suggested this Q930D. She even went the extra mile to go ans find a way to demo the unit (outside of the pre-arranged demos) after hearing just how good the bar spunded compared to others. I decided to give it a try. Once i got home it was an easy setup and I had no issues out of the gate. I have used it in eARC, optical, and bluetooth mode and everything has sounded/worked properly. I cannot speak to the Q-Symphony aspect due to not owning a Samsung TV. But reguardless well done Samsung with this soundbar.

I'm a 62 year old trumpet player having sat in front of the percussion section in high school, college and community bands and orchestras for about 50 years. I have hearing loss typical for a person of my age but don't need hearing aids. I've had trouble with higher pitched voices for the last 15 or so years (female and younger people voices). While I don't "need" hearing aids, I was able to use headphones (I think I have about 7 pairs) that would help me with the higher pitched voices. I was trying to downsize for a move, and got rid of my atmos receiver and 15 speakers. I've had a sound bar before but it wasn't clear enough to hear the higher voices. I took a chance on this sound bar because I've always liked Samsung's quality - way better than their competitor that also has an "s" name. I was THRILLED to find a setting called "Active Voice Amplifier" which amplifies the dialogue if there is a sound disturbance for more than 3 seconds (here's a link for their description - https://www.samsung.com/au/support/tv-audio-video/active-voice-amplifier-on-samsung-tvs/). That's a really nice setting. But wait, there's more... You can also set "Voice Enhancement" on to amplify the dialogue. Oh, you can also customize the 7 band equalizer which can also be used to amplify the higher pitched sounds. And then, you can also adjust the channel levels of the center, side, wide and front top speakers. You can also adjust the level of the rear spears for both the front and top speakers and you can even set up the rear speakers to be used instead of the front speakers for some type of privacy or night time viewing. All of these settings are great and I haven't relied on my headphones at all since buying the sound bar about a month ago. Oh, Oh - the soundwoofer is also awesome with nice clear and strong bass. The whole unit was able to fill a 20 by 20 foot living room with a vaulted ceiling with great sound from all over the room and most importantly, dialogue that I can hear without having to turn up the volume, put on headphones or worse - close captioning... Thank you Samsung and Best Buy !!! Oh, Oh, Oh - the remote that comes with the unit sucks and the 1 inch by 1 inch display on the face of the sound bar sucks worse. You will need a smartphone and an app called Q-Series Soundbar which is great but can be a little confusing - watch youtube videos. The app will check for any firmware updates and allow you to set up the unit much easier than the remote and tiny display. That was the reason for the 4 star Ease of Use rating. Also, there is 1 eARC HDMI connection and only 1 HDMI input. I connected the eARC HDMI to my TV and my streaming device to the soundbar. I also plugged in my PS5 and my Media Server (PC) to the HDMI connectors on the TV which all work fine with the ARC setting (my TV doesn't have eARC - but everything is working just fine). Here's a thought, maybe an onscreen display and better remote control - how about a universal/programmable remote??? Did I mention the sound quality is awesome - crystal clear highs, punchy base and strong middles - this is important to me because I'm a musician (amateur - not good enough to go pro)... Sorry for the long rant, but I've been unemployed for over a year and I'm bored...

Hi, I'm Lynda and my life is an endless battle between my miserly nature and a craving for high-quality items. This hit the sweet spot, as it was not cheap but it has (so far!) proven to be worth every penny spent. I am not tech nerdy at all, so can't review with specs and data. All I can do is share purchase experience from the perspective of a 50-something woman who needed a sound system that would "just work" without needing a lot of know how to make it so. I like the size, I like the function, I like that it is simple to adjust when needed so that everyone in the home is able to enjoy use. It was super-simple to set up. Download the app and it walks you through the process. I was even a bit wowed by how well it was packaged. I have arthritis in my hands and was able to unbox by myself with no profanities uttered. My top desired feature was improved dialogue, as my 75-year old dad was not fully enjoying his shows and movies. There is pleasing crispness to the sound that all have appreciated and Dad hasn't needed to use closed captioning since this purchase. It's nice to see him able to scroll on his phone, as he enjoys, and also following along with his show. Another reason I love this item: it works great even if conditions aren't optimal. We live in an old house with features that don't lend to home theater success (our viewing room has archways on two walls and one opens into a tall foyer and stairway) so I had managed expectations for how well this would work for an immersive experience. I'm very impressed. For sports and movies it is much like being there in person. I imagine it is probably more incredible in a better designed room, but this is pretty awesome.

I waited and waited until I was convinced a sound bar could rival my old 6.1 system. Also purchased a Samsung oled TV. I am now convinced this sound bar is the equal. Strong bass , much better movie experience and super clear dialog. For reference I was using a old jBL6.1 w/ Yamaha receiver. I love the sleek no clutter no wires look. The Q symphony feature is great, a little bright, but it can be changed to run bar only, bar+tv speakers, or tv speakers only. For best sound at high volume seems to be bar only.Onyl glitch is you have to download the smart things app to access the equalizer

The product delivers as promised. You just need to adjust the settings according to your preference. I like the rear speakers to be a little louder than the central. Reason is because I use this along with a Samsung TV, which utilizes the TV speakers as well. I have a pretty large living room, and I usually keep the volume at around 20-25 because of how loud this soundbar can get. I kept the bass at the default setting because it's already well balanced out of the box. In comparison to their Q990D, the overall sound shouldn't be much of a difference to justify spending an extra $500. If you're thinking about buying this, don't think about it... just buy it.

This soundbar was purchased to use with an 85" Samsung TV in a community clubhouse. The room is large - 50ft x 30ft and has hard surfaces throughout. Installation was simple - basically plug and play. It did take some trial and error to get the sound setting correct for the sub, bass, and high notes. Despite the large room, this soundbar sounds terrific. Everyone in the community is enjoying the sound for sports and music. It has been a very nice addition,

I have had a Vizio 5.1 surround sound, sound bar set up for like... 8 years now. The price was right and I needed something decent, It has perfectly served its purpose. Now that I have a bit more to spend on something better, I did my research and decided to go with the 930D over the more expensive 990D. I understand that the 990D is "better" but I am not sure its $500 better. I could be wrong, but I do not have an extra $500 to determine that. Now, the sound from the 930D is absolutely amazing, the surround effect is brilliant, the Dolby Atmos is definitely there. As someone who is new to the Atmos stuff, I was not sure what to expect. Obviously a sound bar is not going to be on the same level as a full blown home theater setup. BUT this thing puts out a great sound stage, no the Atmos is like... OMG I FEEL LIKE IM IN THE MOVIE, but it absolutely creates a much better surround sound and feel than just some regular satellite speakers. You feel more in tune with the sounds that are around you, rather than just hearing the movie or video game from the back right corner, you hear a soundstage behind you that brings it to life much better. You get more detail from the sound, rather just just hearing sounds (if that makes any sense). One think to note though. The subwoofer, for whatever reason wont adjust its level through the remote. I have done all kinds of trouble shooting, went to the Samsung website and did the whole speak with someone deal. Googled as much as I could about the matter. It seems that you have to update the firmware of the sound bar via downloading it and using a flash drive, or downloading the Samsung smart things app and connecting the sound bar to your wifi so it can update the firmware. Even after the update I cannot adjust the level of the subwoofer via the included remote. I have to use the smart things app to control it, and if I happen to hit the subwoofer button on the remote it will set it back to zero, undoing what I changed in the app. The app allows you full control of your sound bar, but this is kind of a weird thing to have to do given the included remote SHOULD function as expected. The set up was easy enough. For me I used the eARC from my TV to the sound bar, it works flawlessly. You have to be mindful of where you put the satellite speakers because they are wireless and must be plugged into an electrical outlet to have power. Plug in the sub, all speakers should have a flashing blue light, then you hold the up on the directional pad of the remote and the sound bar will show text saying that it synced all speakers. This is a little more involved than just setting the stuff up and plugging it all in, due to the wireless aspect and having to sync all of the speakers. Might be a pro, might be a con, just depends on how you feel about it. All in all the 930D gives off amazing sound and I am glad I am able to now experience Dolby Atmos without having to buy and set up a much more complicated home theater speaker build.

With 9.1.4 Channel sound and Wireless Dolby Atmos, you’ll be surrounded by crystal clear, dimensional audio from all sides. Love the full and rich sound from this setup! Purchased this with our new television, the atmos effect is AMAZING! I learned a trick off Reddit as well for the PS5, you can do the setup as an audio system vs a soundbar. It allows you to customize the speaker placement and really enhance gameplay on games that support surround sound.

Purchased this system on November 17. After setting it up and watching a few movies to test it I find that the power of the subwoofer is not good enough. Barely feel it while watching movies. This includes action movies and others. Had other systems in the past that had better subwoofer and sound quality that I spent less money. The rest of the sound from all the other speakers is good. Also it is not that easy to see the display on the soundbar. Too small. They should have made it some larger. At this time I am planning in returning it for a refund and shop for something else.

      Hi magicalwizard,

We appreciate you taking a moment to review the Samsung HW-Q930D Soundbar.

You can manually optimize your audio experience by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (which looks like a gear), you can set the audio function such as Auto EQ, Spacefit sound, AVA, Voice Enhance mode, Night mode, Sync, Surround speaker mode, Virtual. The desired item can be adjusted using the Up/Down buttons.

Alternatively, you can press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons.

You can try quickly optimizing the audio by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then select the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, GAME, or ADAPTIVE SOUND.

To control the volume of each speaker, press the CH LEVEL button on the provided remote. Then select CENTER LEVEL, SIDE LEVEL, WIDE LEVEL, FRONT TOP LEVEL, REAR LEVEL, or REAR TOP LEVEL. Once you find the channel you are looking for, adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

There are multiple ways to control the bass levels for your new Soundbar.

      1) Using the WOOFER button on the provided Soundbar remote. Use the woofer button by pushing forward or pulling backward on the button itself to adjust the bass levels between -12 or -6/+6. If you want to reset the bass to 0 then push the button in.
      2) When you press the TONE CONTROL button, you can adjust the treble or bass levels between -6/+6.

Alternatively, you can adjust all of these same settings and more within the SmartThings app. Download the app for your iOS or Android device and then connect your Soundbar to Wi-Fi. From here, you will be able to adjust all of the same settings as the provided remote, but with the added benefit of being able to see the changes on your smart device.

If you need more help, Samsung is here for you. Please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST (Ask for Soundbars), 7 days a week. Our Live Chat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.
