    Coolest cover out there

This is a great case for the Samsung Note 9. It has a fine-grain texture to it (not too rough, but still has a grip), and a soft fine felt interior so it's easy on the hands when you have it open. There's a small space in the flap for business cards/credit card/ID, an opening on the back for camera/flash/fingerprint sensor, and small icons on the edge for the volume +/-, and the activation button for Bixby so you can use them when the case is closed. PROS: The feel both inside and out is really nice. It's very form-fitting, so I can put it in my jeans pocket pretty easily. The hard part of the case (where the phone sits in) is a matte hard rubber feel, so when your fingers hold the phone in use, there's a good tactile feel to it. If you have a wireless charging base from the Note 5, your Note 9 will charge fine right through this case. VERY COOL: When you close the case, the time actually lights up on the front of this case. There are real LEDs just below the surface that come on to show the time. Then after a few seconds, fade away. The LEDs do more however. Here is a list of everything I've found: - Show the time - Show battery % when charger is connected/disconnected - Show when you get a text - Show when you close the case and still have an unread text - Show when you're getting a phone call > Including a different icon when there's no caller ID - Show when you close the case and still have a missed call - Show when a timer is finished (There's supposed to be more, but I haven't seen them. [See attached image.] Perhaps because I'm not using all Samsung apps.) EVEN COOLER: When you're getting a call, the LED area will display an arrow to the right with green lights, and an arrow to the left with red lights. You can literally swipe the front of the case to accept or reject the call. EVEN COOLER THAN THAT: There is an app that allows you to change the icon that displays depending on who is calling you. (I have my wife set to a bunny because she loves rabbits.) AND, you can create your OWN by using the built-in editor. (Unfortunately, it only works for phone calls -- not texts. :( [[SAMSUNG: PLEASE MAKE THAT!]] CONS: Because it has a front cover, taking photos or videos is a little clumsy. Obviously, you can't have the case all the way open (or the flap will cover the camera) so you end up having the front cover half-open, which makes portrait shots (when you hold the phone normally) very difficult. Landscape shots (when you hold the phone sideways) are much easier, but again, not ideal. Also, it's a bit on the pricey side, but then you are getting those super-cool LED pop-ups. That's it for the review. See below only for info you probably can't use if you're an everyday user. --------------------- OKAY... As a major tech geek, I immediately wanted to know how I could modify or use the case display for my own needs, such as displaying the time left on a timer, or the name of the person calling me. So I did some research, and it turns out there are a lot more LEDs than just the ones being used. And, it seems there are multiple touch-sensitive areas as well (not just at the top). Here is an article I found that talks about some of the neat things people are discovering... https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/6dvcv1/dev_reverse_engineering_the_samsung_cover_sdk/ I CANNOT emphasize this enough, though -- do NOT attempt to hack the case or update the firmware unless you know exactly what you're doing, as you could brick the display. But the idea of being able to write code to fully utilize the display is rather hard to resist! :)

    Great with two minor negatives

I love this case! the features are awesome, the grip makes it easy to keep in my hand. The display is clear and easy to read. Being able to accept or decline a call from without opening is awesome. Overall I am very pleased with the case and would highly recommend it. Now the negatives: 1) The card holder will only hold at max two cards. Not bad, but I went from a wallet case back to this one and it is a minor set back. Plenty if you plan to go out on the town, your ID and one card. 2) when you have the case open and folded back for a while it won't close flush all the way after. Not a big deal, I find that if you set it face down when closed and let the weight of the phone keep it shut it is back to normal in no time. That is seriously the only issues I have had with the case, and they aren't even issues, just small gripes. Stop reading this and go get one. Are you still here? Why, if you need a case for your Note 9, and don't need a full on wallet this is the one for you. Tell them I sent you at check out, there isn't a discount, but they should make a weird face.

Best phone case I've ever owned/seen

I was about to buy a big clunky, ugly clear plastic case along with my new Note 9, when a friend pointed out this wallet case. I was like, no. Then I tried it and the display was really cool. Then I noticed the material it's made of is very elegant and smudge-proof. Then I noticed they had a blue one to match my blue phone, and then it really looked good. Then I found out you can even swipe to answer. And there is no battery, it is powered remotely. I mean, how could this $65 item have so many features!? You can even draw LED patterns and associate them with contacts. Mine is set to instantly auto-unlock the phone on opening the wallet. I realize it is less protection, possibly much less, but it is fairly non-slip and I'll settle with just being very careful with the phone. The case is THAT nice to have. Everyone I show it to is impressed and comments about it. This is extremely well-engineered.

I like the idea that you can see the LED lights that show up on the front cover. I have generally not been a fan of these cases in the past because I like to see the Always On Display on the phone and this obviously limits that. However, being able to have 1 or possibly 2 card in the front slot is a nice touch. The one complaint that I have about the phone is that when you are trying to do wireless charging and you click the power button to see the time or how much battery percentage, it pauses the wireless charging to turn on the case's LED lights, then charging resumes when the lights turn back off. I also wish there was some sort of way to keep the flap folded back without having the fear of it flying back open. It also obviously blocks the camera when open which makes it difficult to take pictures. But overall, the construction and features are cool.

    Still Working at This Point

It wasn't until after I made the purchase that I did some research on the same cover for the previous models of this phone. All of those previous reviews say that it stopped working about a month into ownership. I've officially had mine a few days shy of a month And so far it's still working. I made sure to purchase through Best Buy instead of directly through Samsung as historically there were problems with refunds from Samsung. However I trust Best Buy and this case provides exactly what i needed. I understand it's not much protection from falls but I'm okay with that. However, it is true that the front cover on the folio does fail to close completely, especially if you bent it back or have more than 1 card in the slot. However I've found a fix for that so no big deal there. But I enjoy having the notifications on the front of the cover for calls and such. I'd buy another in the future.

I bought this case because I was waiting on the actual one I wanted to ship to the house and I didn't want to use my new Note 9 without one. This case is very sleek and stylish. I constantly get compliments on it. I own the blue one with a blue Note 9 and the colors go together so we'll. I love the led on the front. You can assign pre-loaded animations for specific apps or design your own. I like the extra credit card slot in the front. I'll keep an ID in there and use my phone with Samsung Pay. Some complaint I have is sometimes it awkward to take a picture so it takes time to learn how to hold it. You can't use it as a kickstand on slick surfaces, but on a pillow or bed it works well. It feels awkward sometimes using with one hand due to it being folded behind the phone when open. Overall I would recommend this case to any owner of a Note 9. It protects the phone while looking really sharp doing it.

This is my first wallet style phone case. I choose this one for the cool features like time and message display, music controls, and screen protection. You can see a notification for calls or messages when the case is closed. However, you cannot see any details. You still have to open the case to see the actual notification. You can also control music through the case. The biggest drawback for me is the flap gets in the way of the fingerprint reader when opening the case. It could be that I am not graceful with that yet. So far the case has offered a sufficient amount of protection for the phone. I am not rough on it and don't drop it a lot but I think having this type of case should handle it. The other issue was the cost. It was more pricey than I really wanted to pay for a phone case but view it as extra insurance.

    love/hate/ relationship

I have a love hate relationship with is case. it does offer things that no other case on the market does. The LED panel on the front is very useful and allows customization for alerts, calls, texts and calendar events. It also allows for play pause and skipping of tracks when playing music. As an added bonus it locks the device when you close the screen. Now the drawbacks, it does not offer as much protection as I would like and I am not sure this would prevent a cracked screen if the phone is dropped in the right way. Also if you use the card slot in the phone the cover will not often fully close. It will lock the screen but the case will not be fully closed. More of an annoyance. I bought another case for these reasons but came back to this one because I like the other features of it...

I bought this case when I bought my new note 9 because I refuse to leave the store without a case. I'm very clumsy and bad with phones. And after having the phone for only 3 days I dropped it. Luckily I had a glass protector on it too. But what irritated me the most is that the case was closed and flipped open as the phone fell and landed screen faced down on bathroom tile.. it happened again at a store a few day later. So I returned it. The LED cover was nice though. Good for knowing the time when your screen is closed and showing notifications emojis. Cute but not great if you really care about protecting your phone.

I loved this the first two days I had it. So cool and advanced kinda bulky. Then I when to work after 2 days of getting used to it I went to show off to my coworkers who all stay up to date on technology everything new yata yata.... well the dang thing isn't doing anything. I check my settings do some hard resets everything the instructions say! And not a dang thing. The fabric already looked worn none of the YouTube tricks worked. I returned it for the mirror smart cover from Samsung and I will say it's much better and actually feels like it will protect my phone. The led "wallet" cover barely fit my i.d. and then was stretched out when I decided I didn't want it in there. Aweful so disappointing.

So I purchased this item because it was an open box item and I wanted a decent case for my Note 9.. Well, I wasn't aware of some of the convenience features this device has.. Not only when you close the folio over the phone will it show you the current time, but when you get a call you can see who's calling and answer the call right from the case itself without having to open it to get to the phone itself... You can also control your music and see what the charging status is along with interacting with Bixby... Very nice case, high quality case, and nice features earns a 5 star rating in my book.. If you like a folio case for your phone, then this is definitely the case to take a look at...

    Protection Without Fingerprints

This LED Wallet Cover is similar to the Samsung folder I used on my Note8. That folder too was very good but the front cover was a fingerprint magnet. The LED cover that has a pocket for credit cards, is covered with a uniform texture front & back so no prints. Also, the LEDs visible on the front cover display time & notifications. The cover allows you to reject calls and has music control functions all without even opening the shell. My old case was great at protecting my phone but this LED Wallet Cover does that and alot more. I like mine, you will like yours too.

it simply doesn't fully close &/or stay closed. I was very disappointed to have to return this terrific looking cover because of it's complete lack of secure closure. It simply cannot protect your phone when it doesn't have any type of strap to keep it closed. Even if the cover itself had just laid completely flat to keep it shut when lying on a table I might have kept it, because I truly love the look of the case and the function of seeing the time & notifications through the cover. But what good is a case that won't stay shut?

I really wanted to like this case because it really is a neat eye catching design. The LEDs in the cover look amazing and amaze a lot of people who see it. There is one thing that keeps this from getting 5 stars. One reason my phone is currently in another case and rarely sees this one. It does not stay closed on it's own. If you lay your phone face up on a desk the cover does not lay down flat on the phone which does not allow the LED cover to even activate. So, in my experience, the only time I can see anything on the outside of the case is when I am holding it closed.

This case is the perfect match between tech and fashion. Not only does it protect the phone all around with the folio case, but it shows who is calling or when there is a message on the outside of the case so I don't have to keep opening the case to check my phone. The slim design makes the Note 9 easy to carry and it fits in my cars charger port (other cased made my phone too bulky to do this). I especially love that that I can customize the icon that shows up on the display. Overall a great case, great price, and great product.

I am giving this item 4 stars because it works very well for what I want. You can answer and forward calls and see who is calling without opening the cover. Also the case is powered by the wireless charging coils on the phone so there is no need to plug anything in. The reason I am giving it 4 stars is because I have not been able to use my wireless charger while the case is on my phone. It blocks the wireless charging somehow.

This case is well built and feels great on the hand. The outside display is touch sensitive so you can answer or decline calls. This only works well if you have the number saved in the app, otherwise, you will still need to flip open the case to see who is calling. I find it a little annoying for everyday use but I like it for when I have an event and make the phone look good too. The inside has a little compartment for CC but I find it perfect to put a couple of my business cards.

Overall I really like the LED Cover for the Note 9. It's a little pricey compared to many other cases, and definitely isn't as rugged, but for someone who generally never drops their phone this case provides the protection I'm looking for, mainly cover the screen when in a pocket. The interactive features of answering/rejecting calls or reminders without needing to open the case is very convenient. The case also doesn't add a lot of bulk, and looks nice on the phone, very clean and professional looking.

Love this case! Wraps around screen, and leaves the bottom open for S Pen and charging. Looks like denim, in the blue, and grips nicely. You can customize the LED cover for notifications from calls to text with the self installing LED icon editor. And moving up from Note 5, this cover also allows wireless fast charging, Note 5 S view case would start then go to normal charge unless case was removed. Love my new phone and case!

The case has a textured pattern that helps with grip, without gathering a pound of pocket lint. The different symbols it shows for calls and texts is very handy at work because I can see who is calling without letting everyone else at the table know. With the app it installs you can assign a different symbol to each number or group. You can make your own too. The draw back is it's only on calls and texts, not apps. It would be nice to use the same symbols for an email in Outlook or Gmail.
