I had a Sony speaker that was a similar size and it was WAY louder. Thinking about returning and buying something else.

You can adjust the sound mode depending on the mood of the party. Press the SOUND MODE button repeatedly to cycle through the available sound effects: PARTY, STANDARD, HIPHOP, EDM, ROCK, LATIN, HOUSE, or REGGAE. The default mode is PARTY.
You can also use the BASS button to boost your bass. Press it again to return to the normal sound.
Pressing the DJ button repeatedly will cycle through the available DJ sound effects: NOISE, FILTER, CRUSH, CHORUS, WAHWAH or OFF
Pressing the Light button repeatedly will cycle through the available lighting modes: AMBIENT, PARTY, DANCE, THUNDERBOLT, STAR or OFF
The DJ Effect function lets you add DJ sound effects to your music. The level of each effect is adjustable.
1. Press the DJ button on the Remote control.
2. Each time you press the DJ button, the Party Audio cycles through the available DJ Effects:
• NOISE: Create white noise and mixed with the original sound through the filter and output.
• FILTER : Creates an effect similar to the sound of only treble or bass.
• CRUSH: Creates an effect that makes the original sound sharper.
• CHORUS : Creates an effect similar to a singing chorus.
• WAHWAH : Creates a ‘Wah~ Wah~’ effect.
• DJ EFFECT OFF : Turns off the DJ Effect.
3. Press the EFFECT + or EFFECT - buttons to raise or lower the level of each of the DJ sound effects from -15 to +15.
Please also make sure that you have the latest firmware update. You can update your firmware by connecting a USB device with the firmware update stored on it to the USB1 or USB2 port on your Sound Tower. You can find the firmware file by going to Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → click on the “Support” option in the upper left corner.

The bass is muddy and the sound is not as full as the Sony or JBL rivals. If you can get it fir u der $250, then it's worth it.

When using the Sound Tower to stream from your smart device, check the app you are using to see if it has a native EQ. This will allow you to fine-tune the app audio quality coming to your Sound Tower.
Also on the Sound Tower app or the provided Sound Tower remote, press the BASS button. This will turn on the Bass Boost feature, improving the overall bass.

The Sound Tower will have more power when it is plugged in to the wall for power and a bit less when it is using the internal battery. This allows you to have a longer battery life on a single charge.
Make sure that when you have paired your smart device to the Sound Tower, the volume of said device is at maximum. If your smart device volume is lower, the overall volume of the Sound Tower will also be lower even if the Sound Tower is at max.

Extremely dissapointing

It was really  disappointing coming to learn that once I get past a certain volume it sounds very grainy and robotic. I got it for a party that I was having the same day and it was completely useless. Upgradibg to a jbl. Lets see how that goes

When you are using your smart device connected with the Sound Tower, make sure that your volume on your phone/tablet is set to max. The Sound Tower and your device do not share a volume setting, so you can have your phone set lower which will give you a lesser experience.

It does exactly what I expected, and sound quality is great. The only bummer, and reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, is the power cord was not provided. It was part of original packaging and should have been included in the purchase. I had to buy my own.
