An honest, unbiased review. Laptop flawed by 1 con

I recently bought this laptop and I loved it. It had every spec I found possibly want and more! It was even fully compatible with my Samsung Galaxy s6 edge plus and could do cool things I didn't even know existed. It was pretty much the perfect laptop with amazing features such as a super HD screen, the fastest 6th gen i7 processor and a major pro: super lightweight which actually made it really nice to use and hold in tablet mode. So everything spec and hardware-wise was perfect. The major flaw came with its battery life. Using just simple Internet browsing, it seemed to be optimised for just that but using anything else that I happened to use, 1hr and 30mins was the norm battery life which I might as well have gotten a nice desktop if it's gonna be on par battery-wise with a laptop I had 7 years ago. And even using Microsoft Word led to a terrible battery life of about 2 hours. I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software problem but I didn't wanna risk waiting past the return period to find out the battery hardware was bad and not software. Basically this laptop was perfect and I would have loved to have it and keep it for as long as it lasted but the battery life killed the experience. This is why I'm giving it a three star rating rather than one because this laptop has huge potential if a longer lasting battery were implemented. Overall it's the perfect laptop even on part with the highest spec surface book (of which I also owned the starter surface book), but it's plagued by a short lived battery life. I would only pay around 700 for a laptop like this and I am halfway decided between whether I would actually recommend it to a friend or not because it's just so good except for that one flaw.

    Great Laptop-Horrible Battery

I bought this laptop for grad school in August and have been using it daily for the past 2 months. This laptop is really fast, lightweight and very versatile. It only takes a couple of seconds to start. This is an amazing laptop minus the battery life. I have to set the brightness at 20-30% for the battery to last about 4-6 hours. If I set it at 75%, the battery is dead within 3-3.5 hours. I would recommend this laptop if the battery life does not bother you, but I personally would not have bought it had I known how bad the battery life really was. Also, this laptop attracts fingerprints like crazy. I bought a sticker for the front because I got tired of cleaning it frequently. Aside from the battery life and fingerprints, this computer is great.

I was torn between the spin and the macbook pro, but I was wanting a touchscreen and didn't really want to learn how to use an unfamiliar software. Aside from the fairly step price, though macbooks are no different there, this laptop fit the bill perfectly. It is super smooth, feels and looks great and is way more versatile than a macbook. The battery life isn't bad, and especially isn't as bad as one reviewer experienced with an hour and a half, obviously there was a problem somewhere. I probably average around 7 hours with moderate use and I'm fine with that considering how light and compact the spin is.

Pros: - Looks fantastic - Great picture quality - Minimum bloatware - Trackpad works well - Tablet mode is awesome Cons - Battery life is not the best - The trackpad could be centered a little more, my right hand rests on top of it sometimes. All in all, after doing hours of research and taking many trips to bestbuy I am very very pleased with this machine. It is crazy fast, super compact, has great functionality and looks amazing.

If you are looking to buy a new laptop, I would not recommend this one because first off it has AMAZING performance, but the I got 4.5 hours of battey life and i made a mistake buying this machine. I will now be getting a 2015 macbook pro. But I would rate this a 4.7 out of 5 but i need a laptop with 7-9 hours of battery life so that is why I won't be keeping this. I am a 16 year old male that loves this product but for me, the battery life is just very very disappointing. Trackpad and keyboard really is a treat to use, very smooth but the keys make a little too much noise or its just too clicky for me. Yes, this is a premium laptop, so itll cost well over a thousand dollars, so do enough research before you make a purchase. Thank you everyone!

Just what I was looking for

I wanted a light, fast laptop to replace one that was going south. The numbers were just what I was looking for as far as memory, processor and SD drive. Using this machine has been a joy. It boots lightning fast and has given me no problems that were the fault of the computer itself. The high screen resolution has been a mixed blessing with software that wasn't made to deal with such a high resolution but it's easy to adjust the resolution down and deal with the issues. There was a bit of a problem getting the machine to recognize other computers on my home network so I could pull files from them but an unexpected upgrade to my desktop computer allowed me to figure out what the problem was and at this point, my laptop works like a dream on my home network. The price was more than I wanted to go but I was willing to go a little more for a machine that worked this well

    Great thin and light laptop!

I've had this laptop now for almost 6 months and I am really happy with it. It's definitely on the "higher end" side of pricing but so far worth it. I like that it has a sturdy chassis and the touchpad is best of any laptop that I have used (not that I have used that many). On the negative side the battery time could be longer and at times the fan gets kinda loud but at least that isn't a constant noise. For the price though I wish the system had 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. I got this system mainly to more of a light and easily portable system for when i travel plus something thin and light when I want to use a laptop for whatever reason wherever I am in the house. At the time I was considering the Lenovo Yogo 900 but after reading many reviews I decided to go with this and I must say I haven't been disappointed.

Nice PC marred by underwhelming display

Great touchpad, GREAT build quality (no rattles, creaks, touchpad solid as can be unlike dells or hps). Keyboard is decent too for the thickness of the device (much better than the xps13). I decided to return it within 2 hours of using it though, as the screen is god-awful. Not only does it have kind of a nasty anti glare coating underneath the glass (this makes everything look dull and slightly fuzzy), but it also has terrible contrast. Apple's MBP on the other hand has an anti glare coating on the outside of the glass, which means that while it may not be quite as effective as samsung's panel at reducing glare, it at least doesn't harm image quality. Black levels are very high and my colorimeter meaured about 450:1 contrast, where good laptops are now in the 1000+:1 range if not 1500+:1 with the new IGZO panels. It definitely gets bright enough though. This would be acceptable on a 500 dollar laptop, but not one supposedly competing with apple and other non-apple ultrabooks. Dark scenes in movies, and even my desktop background just looked... bad. I'll be sticking with my Lenovo T450S for the time being.

this computer I bought 3 months ago has companied me for 3 months, I was trying to write something to show my appreciation. even though I brought it at a relatively high price, as 1290$, I still think it's worthy it. Appearance, it's all black which is very cool! Ability it's a great computer with a great performance ability, it can run 24 hours for my code! Price lower than MacBook but performance better and faster. Pretty cool with seeing movies and the lightness and the performance so far. To be honest, the only cons would be the relatively low battery performance. Usually it can last for only 4 hours at most, but the changer is usually light, and you can always find a charger, so it's not a big problem for me at all.

I have had three of these, dating back to 2013. Still have them all and they still work great. Have tried all the others (Toshiba, Dell, Lenovo, HP) and they cannot compare to this Samsung. Returned them all. Light, powerful, great screen, good touchpad, decent keyboard and it just works. Very good computers.

So, I bought this Samsung Notebook 9 Spin a little over 6 months ago. It has a great set of features and components. It "feels" like a premium product. The keyboard is backlit and feels very good. The screen is quite amazing and bright. The touch on the screen and pad work wonderfully. One more thing to mention is small but super important. The laptop doesn't have anomalous wireless issues, like many of the Lenovos. So, far I haven't encountered any software issues either. So, well put together. Well done. One big, huge gripe............. The BATTERY is horrible. The battery life is so bad, it drives me nuts. I get somewhere around 2.75 to 3.25 hours with the screen at 75% brightness. That is extremely out of spec for a laptop that costs this much. So, I called Samsung, and their tech support is useless. I can't believe that Samsung doesn't have decent tech support for their products. They sure want your money, but won't back up their products. I reckon I will just have to keep the power outlet close by and use the cord...

Battery life is great after making a few tweaks

I picked this up a little over a week ago and everything was great except for short battery life initially. Like a lot of people here have complained, the battery life was not that great at about 4-6 hours per charge. I did some research and made some tweaks in hopes of carrying it around without the fear of my notebook dying on me when needed the most. I have been getting close to 8-10 hours depending on what I am doing. Here are the things that I did. I know it was a cumbersome process, but it was more than worth it for me for the benefit of prolonged battery life. *Changed the processor speed down to 85% when unplugged: I honestly have not noticed that much difference at 85% processing speed in doing the normal things I do. *Scaled the screen resolution down to 2048 X 1152: Yes, it is not as crisp as this notebook was intended to be, but it is better than 1920 X 1080. You'd be surprised if you tried it yourself. *Disabled some of the windows animations: I always disable some of the animations whether it is a laptop or not to speed up my machines. To me it is business as usual and I am not sure how big of a compromise to some of you out there. *Turned off adaptive brightness under Display settings. This seems to help a lot. I manually adjust the brightness, and it normally ranges from 40% to 80% You may have to do some research to make these tweaks, but it will be worth your time. To give you an idea, I have been using my laptop for the past 2 hours casually (web browsing, a few emails, organized some documents in my cloud drive) and I am at 90% battery. Another thing I have noticed is that it takes a week or so to have a stable system. When you start up a new laptop, you are bombarded with updates and it seems to take a decent amount time for everything to settle in. This is an amazing laptop and I sure am glad I went through the trouble with these tweaks. Of course I am speaking for me. I hope this helps!

So, I am super thrilled that I finally decided on this laptop. The keys and placement of the keys are better than what I was experiencing with Lenovo products. This is my first lightweight computer, first touch screen, first tablet and I am could not be happier. Easy to use and the quality of the picture is excellent! It makes me want to do work! I spent about 4 months trying to decide what laptop to get and I am NOT disappointed with this Samsung. As one friend noted, there is not even a pause with carrying on so many different functions at one time. The backlight on the keyboard is a fabulous bonus feature. This is an excellent laptop for work and travel.

Turn it on and it is ready to go within just seconds thanks to the SSD. I was shopping for a 2 in 1 with a larger screen but I ended up selecting this 13.3" screen for the benefit of being very light and the smaller screen works for me fine. It is easy to zoom and if I need to use a larger display I will just connect to an external display using the HDMI port. The keyboard is easy to type on and I like that you can adjust the light on the keyboard keys for working in the dark. You will have to manage power settings to get long battery time between cha. So far this 2 in 1 has worked really good for me. Very cool unit, I am happy with my purchase.

Really wanted this laptop to be the one

I've been having a wide array of problems with this computer since the first few days. First the camera and mic weren't working. Had to install a previous version of windows to correct the problem. Then the file explorer wouldn't open. The laptop decides when to shut off after sleeping regardless of my power/sleeping options. Sometimes it turns on and nothing is on the screen. When it sleeps the screen randomly wakes up by itself which could be a security breach since I set my password to be required upon waking it up and it just wakes up to the screen I left it on. The fan is right next to the mic so when the fan is going and if you're speaking through the mic your voice will be muffled severely. Performance should be faster. Overall, there is new, annoying, and inconvenient glitches happening every day. I don't know if this is a windows problem, or a samsung problem, but get your act together! This computer gave me more aggravation than anything else. Why can't I just update something without it correcting one problem and creating another? And why do I have to be a computer expert to figure out how to fix these problems. On my Macbook, you would update the system and forget it ever happened. I've been a samsung user for years, and thought getting a samsung computer will complement my S7 Edge. Now I know why people choose Apple.
