bad battery - not for business and travel

I bought this computer on July 4th, 2016. I selected it because of 2 main features: weight and battery time. However, I am not satisfied with this laptop, the battery doesn't last more than 3 hours even though I have it in saving battery mode, and all required settings to save battery. Since I have to carry the charger all the time, this defeats the purpose of having a light weight PC. I travel a lot and the fact that I only have 3 hrs of battery time, is really upsetting. Is a really expensive PC and is not suitable for mobile work and mobile people. I am the Director of a non-profit and we need to be very careful with every dollar we spend. This PC was definitely money not well spent.

    Not that impressed ...

I did weeks of research before buying this machine. My last laptop was purchased 5 years ago - an HP DV7 - nothing too special there. Replacing it because the HD is failing. I thought this Samsung was a tremendous buy and ticked off all the boxes. But after setting it up today, and using it for a short few hours, I decided it's going back already. The first disappointment was upon initial setup I saw the flashlight effect when the screen was dark (bottom corners - right side more). My DV7 at 5 years has NO flashlight effect whatsoever. And even though I had it charged to 100 percent before installing the updates, etc. - it drained way faster than I could have imagined. I was browsing for a couple of hours and it went from 100 percent to 35 percent - even though I had made some adjustments by clicking on the battery icon. Lastly - and it's no fault of this laptop - I absolutely despite Windows 10. And I have used Wndows going back to Windows 3.11! Yes, I navigate around Windows 10 alright. But I just don't care for all the busyness (if that's a word). Might be time to look closely at OS X. As for positives - I think it's really solidly built. Lightweight. Screen is nice (other than previously mentioned issue) but I am not sure I like the matte finish (thought I would). It seems very powerful - quick. It boots super fast too. And I didn't really hear any fan noise - nor did I feel it ever got hot (slightly warm is all). Keyboard is not bad either - perhaps a fad too small for me - but I am used to a larger DV7 layout. I LOVE the back lit keyboard - so nice! This might just be your perfect laptop. But the screen defect on mine, poor battery life and lousy Windows 10 killed it for me.

This has been a very dependable and upwards compatible machine for my wife. I really like Samsung computers - their Hardware usually never has a problem. My wife uses this daily as a personal PC, and we have never had an issue. We will more than likely always buy Samsung PC's as long as they make them. You get what you pay for in my opinion

I have had quite a few laptops in my time. However this one beats them all hands down I purchased a Mac Book Pro 2015 model and came to the store to exchange it tried this one out because it just looked so sleek and I exchanged it on the spot! Computer has awesome performance to really stand up to anything you can throw at it my only con would be the speaker output its pretty low.

    Inaccurate Processor Info

Best Buy has this laptop description as a 6th generation i7 6500U Quad Core 8 thread processor which is totally inaccurate. This processor is only a 2 core 4 thread processor. Mobile Intel processors that are Quad Core will have a HQ designator (i7 6500HQ) if it was a Quad Core. There is no such thing as a Quad Core 6500 processor and doesn't become a Quad Core Mobile processor Intel i7 6700HQ. I haven't purchased a laptop in awhile. Upon recommendation from the Best Buy Rep after looking at many, I know I made the right decision. This is by far the most superior high quality laptop I've ever owned. Sleek, user intuitive and easy to use

    Cannot upgrade RAM

This computer has a lot of speed to recommend it, but if you are buying it, you may be a power user. A power user likes to multitask and additional RAM is often helpful. Unfortunately, the RAM on this model is not upgradeable from 8 MB to 16 MB and this crashes fairly frequently when I am operating Outlook, Chrome, Word, Adobe, and Excel. I am constantly at about 80% of RAM usage. I am beginning to regret this purchase for that reason.

    I hate it

This is the most expensive laptop I ever bought, and it didn't blow my mind to say the least. The screen is SHORT. What I mean is that 1.5 inch out of 8" of vertical space is wasted. There is a 1" black strip on the bottom, and 1/2" on top of nothing space. If you look at photos the word Samsung on the bottom of the screen takes up almost 20% of the screen space. This is unnecessary. Because of the retina-quality screen (which I was looking for), all the fonts are extremely small now (has something to do with compression). I can adjust some of them in the settings, but the menus and tabs can't be changed, which makes them unreadable. Even typing this review is painful. The black computer creates too much of a contrast with the screen. Makes it hard on the eyes. I should have looked for a silver computer. Pros: Good touchpad. Lightweight. I am returning this laptop.

    POOR BATTERY LIFE!!!!!!!!

The battery is so tiny that the battery life is like less than 2 hours. Just compare the battery specs with dell xps or lenovo you'll see what I mean.
