Customers express satisfaction with the Odyssey 49” monitor's large screen size, high refresh rate, and HDR capabilities, frequently citing vibrant images and immersive gaming experiences. However, some users reported issues with dead pixels and found the stand to be bulky and somewhat inconvenient. The limited DisplayPort options also drew criticism from some buyers. Despite these drawbacks, many praised the monitor's overall quality and curved display.

I’ve been using Samsung ultra-wide monitors ever since they first started making them. I purchased this monitor as an upgrade to the CHG90 for my Fight Sim, and I have to say it was 100% worth it! The color on the display is fantastic, deep and rich, and the refresh rate makes games look amazing. I will say that the default black levels could be better, they are great however, you may need to make adjustments via NVIDIA control panel or the AMD equivalent and the on-board menu to get them to where you want them. This is just a personal gripe for me, but I’m not a fan of the glossy plastic texture material they used on the back of the monitor this time around. It doesn’t detract from its overall appeal, It’s’ just kinda…meh…I guess. Overall, for the price point, there’s not another ultra-wide monitor with this pixel density, refresh rate and functionality that can match this one.

Screen is bright and vibrant is SDR modes, but HDR support is clearly not working properly. I have an Asus PG27UQ 4K HDR next to it and I can drag HDR content between the two windows and the difference is night and day between this monitor and the one that actually displays HDR properly. The 1006.1 firmware released this week has done nothing to address the issue, and now I get a scrambled image sometimes when switching video modes trying to play SDR content. My $1,500 Asus blows this $2,500 product out of the water. If it's not resolved in the next few weeks this is going back to BestBuy.

There is NOTHING like this on the gaming market. How’s that for the opening line? The ultimate form of evolution of gaming, This is a multi-use monitor At 49 inches; the beautiful colors lash across this screen with MiniLED. This is the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9: The Real Future of Gaming Monitors. There is absolutely nothing like the Neo G9 because this is the pinnacle of PC gaming/entertainment. (My purpose of this monitor is completely gaming-related.) Design: There is no denying it. While it’s huge it certainly looks beautiful to my eyes. I like the white and black look to the Odyssey Neo G9 complement each other without alienating you. There’s a headphone stand that can pop out from the back of the monitor so you can place your headset on it. People don’t think it’s useful but I rather have it than not on something of this price point. You can take off the cover of the back to get to the inputs you need. The design is a gamer focus one but it’s not that over the top as a monitor in person… Well unless you count Samsung’s Infinity core lighting. A gigantic RGB ring on the back of the monitor. Yes. A feature I’m not even sure I care about but glad it’s there? The thing with the infinity core lighting is that I love the way it looks. Give the impression the G9 was designed by Aperture science because this looks like GLaDOS from Portal 2. But then comes the caveat of you not ever seeing the back of the monitor to really care what the RGB looks like. On top of the lights not bright enough to bounce off the wall; it’s a feature I don’t think gamers care about. But the point is I wish there was more RGB on the back or none at all. If RGB is bothering you just turn them off which you can do here. Infinity core can sync to the display colors and flashes the RGB ring on the back to those colors. But again they are not bright enough. You will need a reasonable amount of space to place this monitor down so I recommend having a big desk. This is a whole lot of hardware and one that really shouldn’t be moved that much once placed down. Odyssey monitor can swivel, tilt, pivot and there is height Adjustment. There is VESA mount support for the Neo G9 so you can use your arms on here as well. Display: A head-turner well not literally since you have a perfect curve display with a 1000R curve in front of your eyes but it's a head-turner. The colors HDR colors combine with the deep blacks of the mini LEDs look so nice. You can see the white pixels behind text on black screens if looking hard enough but the black of the display mostly stays in deep blacks. 5120 x 1440 @ 240hz is the resolution of this display. Samsung calls this DQHD as it takes two 2560 x 1440 and places them into one display. It’s just as beautiful as you can imagine; In-person watching your eyes wrap around the 32:9 display. But that isn’t just it as Samsung stuffed this monitor with features including tons that’s “gamer” focused. The text on the display is sharp and it just looks great. SDR is good as well as it gives vibrant colors and actually looks nice all around. The peak brightness is with the best of them at 2000 is truly the bright display I have ever seen. Better with that comes HDR which has been working wonderfully for me since I got this G9. HDR content is extremely impressive and a sight to behold but games are where the HDR shines. Every single color is at its truest form on this Odyssey. Your eyes just take it all in when you sit down. While Content is great; Windows OS itself is really lackluster when it comes to HDR with some programs just looking washed out; This isn't a knock against Samsung. As for the curve radius, it is very rounded that's for sure. It is very intimidating how long and curvy the monitor is at first but it’s so perfect when you’re playing games that benefit from a wide field of view. Flight Simulator, Forza Horizon, Cyberpunk 2077, GTAV, Doom Eternal, Quake II-RT, Tekken 7, Battlefield, Final Fantasy, and Star Wars Squadron all look extremely awesome with no break in the middle of the screen. Doom Eternal especially on the BFG stage where greens pop all over the place with endless particle effects. This monitor has 2,048 Local dimming zones with quantum mini LED. This is what is embedded into the display. Across the screen is evenly lit perfectly and while it’s not as black as OLED. They are extremely deep blacks that are downright beautiful on here. Mini LEDs are something you have to see to truly appreciate. It’s a colorful dynamically lit screen that never fails to impress. This is probably a good time to talk about picture in picture (PIP) and picture by picture. Two features that I’m glad that are in this monitor because they seem to be going away and most TVs are in the case of PIP. It is wonderful to have a second display hooked up to such an ultra-wide monitor. Whether you hook up an Xbox, Roku, PlayStation, or Apple TV it works fine. The HDMI-in uses auto power switching so it automatically detects when the power is input in the display from HDMI. Long story short switching inputs is a breeze, unlike other monitors. You can have two input sources going at the same time on split-screen. If you want your PC and Nintendo Switch going at the same time you can do that here. I also managed to test a PlayStation 5 on the display and it looked fantastic. I haven’t tested a game that runs at 120hz on the PlayStation though. If you want a one-stop shop for all your gaming needs for display purposes. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: The PS5 game developer has to SUPPORT 32:9! Otherwise, it won’t take up the full display! There ain’t many console games that will take full advantage of this display! G-Sync is incredible and has been working fine. Ports Included on the monitor: 2x HDMI 2.1 2x USB 3.0 1x DisplayPort. PC USB. Power out. 3.5mm Headphone out. Gaming: I can't run this monitor at its absolute best. Using an intel i7 11700k / Nvidia RTX 2070 Super / 32GB DDR4 at @240hz at the display resolution. Most games for me run fine at 3840 x 1080 and that's about as far as I can go for AAA titles. You are paying but you are also paying for the long-term ability and support of this monitor as well for future uses. I can’t hit the refresh rate in newer titles but old gaming titles like CS: GO looks stunning. Doom Eternal would probably be one of the showcase games of this monitor to anyone. It’s the one that supports a lot of the monitors' features such as HDR. Neo G9 is extremely excessive. Excessive to the point it just outright outclasses every other monitor. Every single visual fidelity like HDR, RayTracing, and Quantum Dot combined might even cause visual overload at once. Do you need it for gaming? No. No way. But I can tell you now everything that the G9 provides will completely shatter the experiences you have with other monitors ever. Back 4 Blood, Devil May Cry 5, Mortal Kombat 11, Hitman 3, Batman: Arkham Knight, Jurassic Park Evolution…they all just looked so great in ultrawide form. I was completely engulfed every time I move my head from side to side. like in batman where you can see all of Gotham City from a rooftop is breathtaking being this wide. On Mortal Kombat 11. Halo Infinite campaign was the most cinematic experience ever on the G9 Neo. A better experience I had beyond the movie theater. It ran buttery smooth and well…I don’t need to say more. It’s something you just have to witness with HDR. But it deserves its own column. Racing games is the experience I always wanted. I know I wanna invest in a good racing wheel because of this Neo G9 now. Driving a car on Forza Horizon 3/4 and Motorsport 7 is a downright great racing experience! I can’t believe how beautiful it is to play these games. Auto HDR made the game look spectacular at night with lights from the town showing off extremely bright on FH4 a very wow moment. But it was Forza Horizon 5 that just bright my eyes to tears. Everything started to make sense with gaming on this monolith monitor. Microsoft first-party games seem like it was made for this G9! The intro stage to FH5 was THE BEST-RACING GAMING experience EVER. One used case scenario for the G9 is Speedrunning. Something I’m slightly into. I was able to have my Retro consoles / Retropie on one side while watching multiple speedrunning tips on the other with a PC. There are many cases of scenarios where are you can use the extra screen real estate for your advantage in some way. Many ways to use the extra space outside of productivity. I had NO ISSUES with this monitor upon setting it up. I used all the cables that came with the Neo G9. I didn't have to update the monitor as it was on the latest firmware already. Everything worked fine with no dead pixels. The screen never bugged out to black in my uses. For 5120x1440 @240hz I used the Displayport cable that came with the monitor. There is nothing even close to something this wide right now with HDR. It’s always the 32:9 content that stops them and their eyes just become overwhelmed at the long display. If PC monitor manufacturers are competing in the background, they have some pretty big shoes to go up against because the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 isn’t going to be beaten anytime soon. The smiles when gaming is real for me. if your GPU can handle it this is the way to go. End of story.

This monitor is truly amazing and with the curve, for the games that support it, they feel very immersive! The best way I could describe it is it's almost like having VR without the hassle of wearing a headset. In short, this monitor delivers as a solid high refresh rate monitor for gaming and makes gaming feel VERY immersive. Unlike other LED displays, there's no bleeding of light on this display because it's not edge lit and does support split/picture in picture. The HDR is great for gaming but for content outside of gaming it's a mixed bag and there are other monitors even from Samsung that are just as good as this one. What's great.. the colors are bright and seem accurate out of the box. The image this monitor produce is sharp and extremely bright - in fact so bright that it's hard to sit in front of to look at if it's cranked up and on an all white screen thanks to the mini-LEDs. The curve and feel of the display is immersive. For this I would give it 5 stars, it's great for gaming with the high refresh rate and HDR gaming. Note that for higher refresh rates you need a card that supports it, in my case I have an RTX 2080 Super and it drives it with most games just fine even at 240 Hz. It definitely delivers in these areas and is the best monitor out there for gaming hands down. That said, I would say keep in mind though that some games do not "natively" support Ultrawide resolutions and you may need to download addons to help with this (Flawless Widescreen software for example). For productivity even though this is not a monitor I would recommend strictly for productivity, and if you were using it for productivity, I would say do so ONLY with Windows 11. With Windows 11 this monitor is stellar, the snapping windows make it easy to arrange windows and multi-task several apps across the screen. - HDR is hit and miss - it really depends on the game or what you are displaying. I think this is more a limitation of OS/software/drivers than it is the monitor. For HDR Gaming.. WOW, it's pretty good and definitely makes FPS games feel liek you're there. Trying HALO, CSGO and Warcraft, Diablo and more it's awesome for the games that have HDR support and for those that don't Windows 11 Auto HDR makes those games where it's supported look better. See more thoughts on HDR below.. - Infinity core lighting is cool, but honestly, it's not NEARLY BRIGHT ENOUGH to even matter if your monitor is wall mounted or sitting on a desk facing a wall. If you were buying this display for that you'll be disappointed unless you can situate it so you can see the back of the monitor. In addition, there's no software or settings to control the brightness and customize it beyond presets that Samsung has in the OSD menu. For the people like me who like their RGB - you won't be satisfied with it sadly. It's cool but "meh" because it lacks in brightness and control and thus is not a reason I would get this monitor over another without it. -No speakers, camera, mic or KVM... I'm very surprised this monitor for being a top of the line monitor really not to have any "extras" like a webcam, mic or KVM and at the very very least to not have built-in speakers. My Dell 34" Ultra-wide monitor had built-in speakers and a built-in KVM with USB-C video and charging capability. It had a lot more features, and that display was a premium display. It's not a deal breaker as this monitor is a gaming monitor first and foremost so, some features I expected to not appear (like the KVM) but was very surprised to see no built-in speakers. - Consoles, I did try this out on an XBOX and it works and looks good though I didn't test as extensively. For Console gamers this would be awesome but I would compell you to try a PC for a cool experience. - This display is huge and takes up a bunch of space, I do wish the stand was designed differently but does work with my space fine. More thoughts on HDR... Considering if you have a scene with high contrast (half black half a bright color) you'll notice some obvious dimming/brightening on the colors next to the black and if they run through it in to a brighter portion of the screen. In most situations for most games, videos and photos you won't even notice it but if you do it makes the image appear uneven in terms of brightness. I still think this is more a limitation of the technology and the fact that you're asking the display to literally show a black pixel next to a very bright pixel - a tall order for any monitor unless it's an OLED panel and OLED's have their own limitations. I would say from my own testing, this display is better than many others that claim they support HDR because it's bright and does have fine control on brightness with the mini LED technology. The mini LED's definitely help with localized brightness though I wish Samsung gave more options to control how the LEDs behave in the monitor settings to account for your on tastes. You can adjust for this to an extent with settings in the monitor but are limited somewhat if the monitor detects HDR content from the graphics card. I have turned off HDR in Windows and adjusted the settings/brightness to tune the monitor to what I want for normal use outside of gaming and now use the Auto HDR feature through Windows for Gaming (Window Key + G) before you play a game to set it to HDR. There are limitations for HDR in Windows for normal applications which make the problems with HDR stand out more depending on what's displayed, but for gaming with FPS, and RPG games, Auto HDR is actually pretty good and works great with this monitor!

This review is for the Version number CB02 of the Samsung Neo G9 monitor. I know there are a few different versions of this monitor so I wanted to make sure to mention that. Right out of the box (which you will probably need someone to help you with) this thig is a monster! Definitely check and doublecheck the dimensions before purchasing to make sure it will fit in your space. I have mine sitting in the corner of a corner desk and its fits perfectly. Design wise, it is absolutely a beautiful monitor. Its beefy, but it has a very sleek and almost futuristic kind of look. There is even some backlighting where the stand attaches in the back which is a cool added touch. There are plenty of ports to connect what you need to. There is a display port as well as 2 HDMI ports and a USB port. Since this does have picture in picture you can have things like a fire stick or something in one of the HDMI ports and your computer in the monitor port and you can do a cool split screen if you want. The setup was really easy. You just screw the base together with one screw and then you use the 4 included screws to screw the base onto the monitor. That’s pretty much it and you are ready to go! There are 3 “preset” modes that you can program using buttons on the bottom of the monitor. The directional pad is also on the bottom bezel to get to all the different functions of the monitor. You’ll find all the basic brightness, contrast, sharpness, color, refresh rate, and things like that. This is also a HDR monitor and when that is enabled there are other options you can select to tweak those settings. I know these monitors have had a storied past with HDR, but I have been using it for a while now and I have not seen any problems. I know with previous versions users reported a lot of problems. In my opinion, Samsung has got them worked out with this version. For me, when I first started using this monitor it was a bit of a shock. I kind of got headaches and things looking at it. I attribute this to it just being so much bigger and brighter than my previous monitor. I am happy to say that after about a week of use my eyes seemed to have adjusted to the monitor and now, I don’t have any problems and can easily use it for 8 hours a day. So, if you happen to experience anything like that, just stick with it for a while, you will probably get used to it. Now, getting into the performance. I am probably what you call a jack of all trade’s user. I use my computer for gaming, productivity, video and photo editing, web browsing, video and movie watching. Pretty much anything you can do with a computer, I do it. I am very happy to say that this monitor works great for every one of those tasks. I know its billed as kind of a “gaming monitor” but you can easily use this for your everyday monitor in your office as well without any problems. In fact, you will absolutely love the extra real estate. Right now, I have 2 browser windows open, my email program open, and I’m still only using about 2/3 of the monitors real estate. As far as gaming goes, there is really only one word to describe it and that is “immersive”. You will really feel like you are in the game more than you ever have before. You get more screen real estate which means you have an advantage and can see things that people with regular monitors wont on the far edges of the screen. This thing is crazy bright and visually looks absolutely stunning. It really is like nothing else I have ever seen before. Granted, you’ll need a beefy graphics card to take full advantage of the 240Hz capabilities of this monitor, running at 120Hz with HDR is really all most people will ever need. To conclude, if you look at previous reviews of this monitor, you won’t get the real story. There were earlier versions that had problems. I can tell you with the new version of this that I am reviewing, I don’t see any of the problems that have been reported with earlier versions. If you have the real estate, have the money, and have the need for this size and kind of monitor, I would emphatically say YES, Buy it! You will absolutely love it, not to mention all of your friends and family will be extremely jealous when they see it.

This is one crazy cool monitor. It really is a monstrosity sitting here on my desk. But once I got used to it after a few hours, it definitely fits right in and belongs here. A few friends took a look at it and couldn’t believe such a monitor even exists. I was worried about some of the early reviews knocking the HDR but I am seeing no issues with it whatsoever. Aside from being too bright when I clicked it over to HDR Dynamic, I just dropped the brightness down to 58 and found perfection. I much preferred the dynamic setting over the standard. I was really looking forward to the RGB lighting feature but it kinda seems useless the way I have my desk set up. You can hardly tell it’s on and with the only settings for it I’ve found are in the monitor menu itself and there’s no brightness setting for it at all. Seems like a great idea and it really needs a desktop app to be able to control it, Maybe in the future.. It is what I figure the included USB cable would be for but I still haven’t figured out a use for that either. I also assumed you could update the firmware through the cable as well but I don’t see any way to do that either. Maybe I’m missing something. I tried out the PIP with my PC on one side using the display port cable and my xbox S on the other side using HDMI. Works perfectly. Being able to play a little Forza Horizon 5 while keeping an eye on my PC at the same time is super cool!! I really love this monitor and while it takes up some serious real estate on my desk, it was well worth rearranging everything to make it work out, Thankfully, I have a large desk so it doesn’t look too ridiculous sitting on it. It is a beautifully designed monitor. I love the curve and got used to it real quick. It looked pretty odd when I first pulled it from the box as I’d never seen that much curve in any type of screen before but it turned out to be the perfect design for this size monitor. Great work, Samsung

Absolutely love this monitor. The vast uses one can apply with it. Can be split up into 4 different screens essentially.

--- SETUP --- This monitor took me about 2 hours to set up. This includes reading the manual, separating all the parts, screwing what needs screwing, and asking for a second person to help carry it to its final location. --- FEATURES --- The monitor features a refresh rate of 240Hz, 5120 x 1440 Maximum, Native resolution, 1 millisecond response time, FreeSync Premium Pro (AMD Adaptive Sync), G-Sync Compatible (NVIDIA Adaptive Sync), and 49 inches to boast about. Additionally, it has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, 1 1.4 Display port, 2 USB2.0 Type A ports, and a headphones jack. Height and tilt are adjustable. Supports HDR 10, and HDR 10+. --- EXPECTATIONS and PERFORMANCE --- When you open this monitor, your eyes will be stunned at the beauty of this monster. My monitor is white on the back, and with the giant circle where the arm of the stand goes, it almost looked like a Sci-Fi weapon from Halo. It included 1 HDMI cable, 1 display port cable, a USB cable, and the power supply cable. The instruction manual highly encourages you to plug every cable in before assembly, as part of the assembly includes connecting a cover to hide all the cables that may stick out from behind the monitor. The cover of the cables is a nice touch, but it will effectively shorten your cable length because it has to run down the stand before you can get enough length to use it. I tried the cover at first, but ended up removing it to get the extra length I needed for the various things I plugged this monito to. GAMING: For gaming, I plugged in my Xbox Series X on HDMI port 1 and my MSI Delta 240hz gaming laptop with Ryzen R7-5800H Processor, Radeon RX6700M graphics card, 16GB Memory. For comparison, I downloaded Halo Infinite on both my Series X and my laptop. It is truly a stunning view to behold! Since the HDMI port is a 2.1, my Xbox was able to open the game at 4K 120Hz and it looked stunning. Definitely a step up from my previous 1440/60 setup. Game animation was fluid and you can tell the difference between 60Hz and 120 Hz. I then switched over to my PC and played the same game. This time, at a 4K resolution, it left me breathless. It will be hard to go back to another monitor that isn’t this one. My wife happened to walk by when I was playing and she just uttered, “WOW,” looking at how gorgeous the landscapes looked. I then tried Forza Horizon 5 and you can tell this monitor gives you something extra special with racing games. Game after game, the monitor kept showing me what an extra wonderful experience gaming can be with the proper hardware and setup. One of my favorite features was the picture in picture mode. When I had to do some work from home, I would turn on picture in picture and use the Xbox on the left side of the screen while I had my work space on the right side of the screen. This allowed me to gradually make progress for my work between matches of Halo multiplayer. Just for testing, I really enjoyed the fact that I could have Halo on the left and Death Loop on the PC on the right side of the monitor. Definitely not the ideal way to play both games, but it is a fun concept and there might be a potential use for that. For now, my summer streaming setup will be much easier seeing as how now I have so much more desktop space to move windows when streaming with Streamlabs OBS. Finally, in preparing for this review, I read several comments from previous owners. There might have been an issue with an older model of this monitor. However, when mine arrived, there was a sticker that had a manufacturing date of August 2021. Also, the ports on this monitor are HDMI 2.1, so it will work great with your PS5 or Xbox Series X, if that’s what you game on. For PC, your best experience is to use a display port if you have one. --- APPROVAL --- If you want to be the ultimate gamer, have the ultimate gaming experience, and want to be fully immersed in your narrative, multiplayer, or simulation experiences, get this pronto!

I’ve been considering a wider screen monitor for work, but when this G9 landed on my doorstep, I didn’t have to look much further. I read reviews before getting this & was concerned because that seems to be for an older revision of the same screen. Don’t be afraid anymore! First thing I did was try to load new firmware on the screen but the firmware on the monitor was newer than on the website, so I didn’t have anything to do! TL;DR for my frequent readers and details below. Pros: Clarity 120/240Hz On-screen menu / controls Cons: A bad rap Limited up/down tilt Existing cable compatibility Meh: Dim RGB light on back of monitor Amount of space the stand takes up on the desk Headphone hanger on the rear/stand Light bleed on startup / black screen in the dark When you get beyond the huge box & start to unpack it, the full-out assembly was super simple. Full disclosure, I had to set it up and dismantle it 3-4 times for various reasons. Once the cables were routed, the back cap snapped on and the tilt adjusted (the tilt is a little lacking, but the swivel seems overkill), it was time to play. On power-up, I noticed the light bleed complaint at the corners, but it ended when it received a signal from the computer. Running a light bleed test on YouTube however - exposes some of the bleed, but I don’t plan on looking at a black screen ever. Then again, it could be annoying for some, but not for me. No points lost. I had a heck of a time getting my existing cables to work, but using the cables included with the monitor helped. I use an Asus ROG and I use a USB-C -> DisplayPort cable which I thought would have been fine, but it wasn’t. I ended up having to get a USB-C to DP adapter for another $17 on the ‘zon. Take away some fractions of a point. I’ve been playing on a 144Hz screen for well over a year (2080 Super desktop & 3070 mobile cards) so I was a bit concerned about how 120Hz compared to 144Hz is – and it’s not really noticeable; 60Hz -> 144Hz is insanely different but I’m not seeing any artifacting when messing around at 120Hz. When rolling at 240, the aspect ratio is different and the font seems larger. I found my system lagging a bit in the FPS area when at 240, so I just ran at 120 without complaint. For work, I was able to use the aforementioned adapter for my 16in 2019 MacBook Pro without issue as well, although I did need to scale it down a bit as the font by default was too huge. When moving over to my ROG on Windows 10, again, another seamless move. Using the NVIDIA control panel helped set my refresh rate to 120/240Hz, depending on how the monitor was set first. Speaking of monitor settings, the on-screen menu is pretty fantastic. A rocker button helps navigate some nicely segmented menu items so you can locate and change what you're looking for with little effort. I even found a menu item that’ll turn a light on the rear of the monitor. Kind of a bummer that’s pretty dim and won’t give you any wall glow so I still use my Hue bar for that. I didn’t get into the Picture in Picture mode as I don’t have the proper cables (USB-C -> DP) or adapters to get it working, sorry! Playing a game on this takes some getting used to, especially if you’re trying 32:9. At first, I felt a bit inebriated / dizzy. When messing with the different refresh rates and aspect ratios, I found it helpful to play an FPS against bots until I got my legs; I don’t need a lower K/D. On the PC, I’m only into playing FPS games so I can’t speak too much beyond COD Warzone / Vanguard, some Halo Infinite and some Apex Legends. Each of the games is crisp and clear; while the 240Hz is taxing on my GPU, the ability to see clearly is helping my gaming for sure. Overall, if you have some extra cash and are super into gaming, this screen is killer. Otherwise, it takes some getting used to and I can’t see it for the super casual gamer. Do I recommend this screen? Sure do!

Setup: This is a large monitor about 47" wide so you will need a large desk/table when setting this up so make sure you have the space for the large legs and wide monitor. When opening the box make sure you follow the directions as they have you get stand into the monitor before taking out. It also recommends you cable manage before taking out, since on the back it has a cover to hide them, the downside is if you need to swap a cable you have to pop the cover. Not the end of the world but does make you want to ensure that you have all the cabled properly and securely plugged in before covering and setting up on your table. Besides being large and a bit awkard moving it isn't too hard and once situated the stand is stable and eary to pivot to get into the perfect position for viewing. Usage: You will need a decent Video Card to power this for sure, but the display looks fantastic and QLED make games pop. I did confirm my monitor came with the most recent firmware and Nvidia Gsync picked it up no issues. You will want to increase the DPI/mouse movement a bit as navigating across it can be interesting, but even with HDR for gaming the game looks good. However its wide screen monitor so for gaming that is interesting as Games don't normally come programed for that. See picture attached, as you will get oddities in some games as the FOV was designed and the engine doesn't scale. That said playing games even in Windowed mode when needed look great and even watching streamed content it was awesome and I am just enjoying the monitor and space it provides. It has a lighting system, but I keep it off since I don't need RGB, but you can turn on the lights on the back of the monitor to get a glow if you are into that and it has a Headphone rest, though the size of this monitor means you'll need to be pretty tall to take advantage of reaching behind the monitor to get the headphones and place them, but it is a nice touch. It looks clean and the monitor itself is great, the new Halo Infinite looks fantastic on it and I'm having a blast gaming/consuming content as its nice having 2 2K monitors worth of space in one panel. Final Thoughts As long as you don't mind dealing with some games having issues with Wide Screen but want things to look great and smooth this is definitely a monitor to play/game on. I'm having a lot of fun with it and so happy to have it, even if I had to take some extra time with games to adjust the settings to handle the monitor I can't be happier, esp. with HDR on, it looks awesome.

The Star Rating is based on the price of the monitor. I do really like this display, its bright with great color and blacks (HDR Mode). But there are so many bugs. A dark window on the edge of the screen in 240hz non-hdr mode can cause tiny horizontal black bars across the entire monitor. I am sure there is more, but thats the one I notice the most often - I'd expect for $2500 a near perfect monitor. Mine did come with a defect in the bottom right side, there is an area that color is tinted with a brownish-yellow - about the size of 3 quarters at its worst, and 1 quarter - and sometimes its not there at all. If I apply a slight pressure to the plastic frame, sometimes it will go away. So a big pro, I called support and once they saw the pictures they submitted for in house service, so they show up and inspect/repair/replace without having to deal with re-packing this monitor - unpacking and setting up is very nerve racking, its large and awkward to move around. HDR Gaming is awesome, NFS Heat, Cyberpunk look AMAZING, 240hz with g-sync/freesync works perfectly. This monitor gets so bright, that it can hurt your eyes when you walk outside (like real life). Once they resolve the defect, and the firmware issues, I think this will be one of the best TRUE HDR monitors out there.

The Samsung AG900 Series Odyssey Neo G9 has lots of wow factors from the price to the features. If you’re looking seriously at this monitor you’ve obviously decided that the price is justified for 49” of pretty impressive display. Samsung has done a really nice job in the design of this monitor; even the back of the display is well thought out in a clean, crisp white back with an RGB ring and headphone rest. This monitor is definitely a standout display that users like gamers, programmers and designers are going to appreciate. Be prepared that this arrives in a rather large box and ideally should include two people to unbox and assemble. The one sheet assembly instructions very clearly illustrate the recommended steps to plug in cords, attach the base and remove the monitor from the box. No issues at all to put the monitor together and place it on the desk. We found the positioning options to be more than adequate with tilt, swivel and height adjustment. We are utilizing this monitor primarily for gaming and work by connecting it to a desktop (1080Ti graphics card) with the DisplayPort cable and to a laptop via HDMI. The monitor easily detects and instantly switches between new source signals. The 49” screen size is well suited for the Picture-by-Picture ability to view input from two sources at the same time. This has been ideal for viewing a work laptop on one side and a desktop video or game on the other side. Also, one can resize the second source to up to 25% of the screen by utilizing Picture-in-Picture. For those multi-tasking, Samsung has Easy Setting Box which is a screen splitting application which provides one the ability to split the screen into two to six grids horizontally or vertically to quickly organize and arrange windows. Easily arrange windows with one click, rather than the traditional drag and drop routine. We’ve been very pleased with the picture quality. The 5120 x 1440 resolution, mini LED and Quantum HDR2000 makes for exceptional color depth, brightness, contrast and clarity. The 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and two HDMI 2.1 have provided a great gaming experience and set one up for future console improvements. Thus far our gaming experience has been exceptional with no issues on this monitor related to dead pixels, flickering or ghosting. If you’re an avid gamer or in need or work-related screen space, then by all means we’d recommend splurging as this curved design is quite the treat and the screen is amazing. For the price tag it would be great if Samsung could improve the warranty period beyond one year, but we’d still recommend it.
