Customers express satisfaction with the Odyssey 49” monitor's large screen size, high refresh rate, and HDR capabilities, frequently citing vibrant images and immersive gaming experiences. However, some users reported issues with dead pixels and found the stand to be bulky and somewhat inconvenient. The limited DisplayPort options also drew criticism from some buyers. Despite these drawbacks, many praised the monitor's overall quality and curved display.

Mixed Feelings: Impressed Yet Disappointed with Od

I'm providing this monitor with a three-star rating primarily due to its peculiar characteristics and persistent issues. Despite being an expensive $2,000 monitor, it disappointingly suffers from problems that were already prevalent two years ago. One of the significant drawbacks I encountered upon receiving the product was the presence of faint gray vertical lines. These lines become clearly visible in white spaces, detracting from the overall visual experience. It's disheartening to witness such a prominent flaw in a high-end monitor, especially at this price point. Furthermore, the Odyssey Neo G9 continues to exhibit problems with its horizontal lines on specific aspects. This issue not only hampers the monitor's performance but also diminishes the immersive experience it promises. Considering the advancements made in monitor technology over the past two years, it is disconcerting that these problems persist. Overall, while the Odyssey Neo G9 boasts impressive features and specifications on paper, the presence of persistent quality issues significantly undermines its appeal. As a consumer, one would expect a flawless performance from a monitor of this caliber and price. Regrettably, this is not the case. It is my hope that Samsung, the manufacturer, addresses these concerns promptly to ensure a more satisfactory experience for future buyers. In conclusion, despite its high price tag, the Odyssey Neo G9 falls short in delivering the flawless performance one would expect from a premium monitor. The presence of faint gray vertical lines and persistent issues with horizontal lines on specific aspects diminish the overall satisfaction with this product. As a result, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend the Odyssey Neo G9 to prospective buyers seeking a top-tier display solution.

Incredible. The price is def on the high side, so buy it on sale for sure. The peak brightness is insane in a good way. If the games you play support 32:9 (RDR2) it will ruin playing on 16:9 display. My 3080 ti FTW was made for this monitor.

This thing is absolutely fantastic. Beautiful colors, extreme brightness, perfect curvature at 1000R - you seriously have to see it to believe it. The primary issue - getting everything to work as advertised. Being a new product Samsung obviously rushed to miss deadlines. When using it you experience all sorts of bugs and pretty much have to mess with settings etc. often. A newer firmware was released which did alleviate some issues but there are more to be worked out for sure. This monitor will be an easy 5 star holy grail pinnacle of monitors if they can actually get firmware dialed in. More QA Samsung, please.

I bought this for work and it is wonderful to be able to see several open screens at the same time even during a Teams meeting. One complaint, even though I ordered the black model and it says black on the box, I got the white model which I am ok with as I can't see the back when using it and the front frame is black anyway so it kind of a moot point. It did make me nervous that it didn't have the protector film on the screen like was on a youtube video I was watching when assembling it. It does have some intermittent distortion on the sides of the screen which I have learned do not happen if I fully boot my computer before powering on the monitor. Makes my work life much better!

Make sure you have a beefy rig if you plan on using this monitor. Gaming on this thing is next level, its not for everyone but it also has the additional Picture-by-picture mode if you want the monitor to act as if it is two separate monitors. If you have the rig and the money I would definitely try this one out.

This one is a doozy. Let me start off by saying it looks great. It just does. There is no way to deny that, but not every game can take advantage of that. Some games already don’t natively support ultra wide, let alone ULTRA wide. So often times you have black bars or just a poor experience in general. If it worked all the time, I’d say it’s worth it. But for me, I couldn’t use it.

So far so good. Had some issues with getting my Xbox Series X set up with it, mainly getting the monitor to display in 27" 16x9. Found out you need to turn off FreeSync in the monitors settings, then screen size is available to change. Once changed, you can then turn back on FreeSync. I'm on FW 1006.1 and so far, I see no issues with HDR, at least with the Xbox. Only tried Doom on PC (Ryzen 9 3070) and it looks amazing in HDR.

Let me start with the statement that I love using this monitor. I'm a developer and the monitor provides so much screen real estate that I never feel like I'm lacking space to review code (side-by-side) etc. I pair this with an M2 MacBook Pro. First the bad: * When the macbook is plugged into the monitor after a period of time, the screen defaults to mirror mode and the resolutuion is not right. * Even when mirror is turned off sometime the machine loses the max resolution and defaults to a HiDPI resolution. This is only frustrating because I need to unplug and plug the monitor back in. * 60Hz looks bad and I need to set to 120hz for quality of monitor (60hz has lines across the screen) This is all with a TB3 dock and displayport native from the dock. Now the Good: * Bright and easy to read * The dual display (two machines split into 2-side-by-side ultrawides, especially with software to share mouse/kbd) is brilliant! * Did I mention huge screen realestate and coupled with the 1000R curve, easy to see everything without craning in weird angles. My biggest complain is simply that it's not the new 57" with dual 4k screens baked in. I do not hesitate to recommend this monitor for productivity needs like I have. While the issues are annoying, these are not deal breakers and generally easy to remedy (I believe a new TB4 dock with DP 1.4 or HDMI2.1 might resolve some of the issue I see).

This was a beautiful screen the only thing was it has bad inline issues at 2:40 also when you click on and off from another tab you can see the whole color shift from brake to dark or dark to bring as well when on 240 it seemed to have some problems running I would sometimes get black screening for no reason I had to unplug a lot of things from the back to get it to work right using a soundbar with this as well at 2:40 is not going to happen this would be a keeper if it was at $1,500 but almost $3,000 with taxes made me return this if it drops in price to $1,500 I will be picking up another one for now I recommend buying the C1 from the LG much better spend for your money

I like having the single monitor (weal to 2x27). I like the ability to put my Mac and windows machine in PIP with my work Windows 2/3 and 1/3 Mac Personal. I then switch it around on weekends and evenings. Both machines handle the 49 inch monitor well. No special graphics car on my windows machine (Dell 3140) and it is crisp text and bright screen. The ability to switch my PIP for two machines and different sizes or full screen for one machine is great. Again, my work computer has wimpy graphics and the monitor still performs great. I also like it is mini-led and not the OLED, so I don’t get burn in from my tool bars.

For me this monitors build quality is great and the display looks great and the HDR in games Just incredible. Now running it at the 240Hz did show some video tearing issues (I don't think it is my card RTX 3080ti FTW3) going back to the standard rate of 120Hz looked better to me. I did get mine for a good open box price, I do not feel it is a good value at the current retail price. And for that I did drop one star for it.

Looks good but dark scenes like resident evil village would be aweird black/gray color and wave around. For the price difference between the neo and g9 i feel not worth it. I had it paired with a 3090 and 5950x. Battlefeild at 100fps cod at 145fps maxed out. But returned it and got 65inch LG C1 and difference is out of this world. If samsung goes to oled g9, im all in. I love samsung but cost made me return it in exchange for c1

Awesome monitor for both productivity due to screen real-estate and gaming form an immersion standpoint. Your computer will need some extra juice to run games over a standard monitor due to the added width/resolution. The HDR and Dimming zones are great for a non-OLED screen and I am certainly happy with the colors and brightness. Now that the OLED version of this monitor is about to come out, you can often find this one on sale for a great price and I would say it is worth it!

It’s big. It’s beautiful. It’s a bit of a pain to install if you are using a desk arm. It produces a lot of heat which I’m sure we will love in the winter but in the summer…. The instruction sheet is lackluster. Watch a few YouTube ideas BEFORE you unpack it.

Pretty awesome, but not perfect yet. Wait for the technology to mature a bit. At this price point, this monitor has to be near perfection to justify its expense, and Samsung hasn’t achieved that here. Will be returning. Make sure your GPU has the grunt to display this many pixels at such a high refresh rate

This is the best monitor for gaming and productivity I’ve ever used. If you’ve got the scratch and want top of line go for it! Add some hue play or gradient strip lights to the setup and it’s one of the most jaw dropping immersive experiences I’ve ever seen. I don’t often leave reviews but when I do it’s for products that have blown my mind or left me feeling robbed. Fortunately this monitor falls in the mind blown category and I can honestly say I would have paid retail value for it and still felt like I got my moneys worth. Lots of reviews say this monitor is trash or has build quality issues which made me hold off on buying the monitor when it was released. I guess the reviewer world is full of trolls or people who nit pick at small details that overshadow the major positives of what this monitor offers. Contrary to the negative reviews I have not encountered any dead pixel issues or crackle popping from the panel shifting as it heats up during use. Maybe I got lucky but I have not encountered these commonly reported issues. If you’re a gamer you’re gonna love this monitor. Super immersive for all the games I’ve played (it’s like wearing a VR headset), lightning fast response time, and the mini led thing is not a gimmick the blacks on this monitor are the best I’ve seen on a non-oled tv. Keep in mind, there are some games that do not support 32:9 but it’s only a matter of time before more titles start hopping on the bandwagon, I’ve even heard rumors ps5 will start supporting it which will make this monitors value instantly improve. The curve took some time to adjust to but once you find that sweet spot for viewing and seating distance you’re gonna love every inch of this behemoth for long hrs of gaming. If you work from home this monitor far out beats a dual monitor setup. I went from a 38inch lg with a horizontal 27inch side monitor and feel less strained at the end of the day when I’m working with multiple windows open. I can now center my main window in front of my face while having outlook and slack open on each side and not feel like I constantly have to turn my head or re-configure windows to manage real-time communication or email while I’m working. The stand is actually very good for an out-of-the box setup. It does take up quite a bit of space and I will be getting a monitor arm to reclaim the area under the monitor to make the set up look clean. Keep in mind you will need a lot of desk space for this monitor as the curve pulls the sides of the monitor in so measure your desk space before you install it. If I were to nitpick I would ask for built in speakers, an extra inch or two for screen height, already updated firmware or a way to plug my computer into the USB port to directly update it, and a thank you card from Samsung saying thank you for believing in our products you’re the bestest. Treat yourself or someone who’s socks you want knocked off to this amazing marvel of modern monitor!

Lol... So I was totally expecting not to fully like this monitor. I watched countless review videos. Almost all of them gave it glowing reviews. There were only a couple youtube reviews that really talked about it's flaws. But I had already ordered it and it was shipping so I figured I'd give it a spin and see if those negatives were really that bad or if I even cared. GET THIS MONITOR! Seriously, if you're even remotely considering getting this monitor, just do yourself a favor and click buy. I promise you, you won't regret it. This thing is absolutely amazing! Setup was a breeze, and I really liked the cable management included with this. Everything is perfectly hidden. Word to the wise, though. Even if you don't end up using the USB hub cable, install it anyway, and while you're at it, install a normal USB cable to the hub as well. It'll save you the hassle of doing it later :) The menu system is remarkably easy to use. And there are plenty of options in the menu to customize it to your liking. The backlit panel on the back for RGB lighting is nice, but I wish it was either brighter, or that there was an RGB strip along the entire length as well. The single circular RGB light isn't that bright in normal lighting conditions. You can also set it to sync to what's going on the screen so it gives a nice ambience to it. The stand is very well suited to handle this beast (it's a bit heavy, coming in at around 30+ lbs) I haven't had any issues adjusting it on the stand (pitch, roll, yaw). It is actually quite sensitive so it's very easy to dial in the perfect position. I think I'll be mounting it on an arm in the future though. I have yet to find a game that can do 240hz, so I can't really attest to the performance of it (yet). But so far every thing I've played on it with is buttery smooth (i7 12th gen, 3090, DDR5 5600MHz). The screen quality is absolutely bananas good. I had previously bought an Oddyssey G7 and hated it. It had TERRIBLE screen door effect. So I was very worried this would have that as well. But rest assured the 5760x1440 resolution is perfect for this monitor. And even though this beast is huge...I do actually wish it was bigger haha. It's basically 2 27" curved monitors side by side. And for most people that's good enough. But I use 30" monitors on a daily basis. And I'm coming from an LG 30" + LG27" setup. And man... I just wish it was based on 2 30" monitors. But I digress... Overall this monitor is absolutely perfect. Don't listen to naysayers. Try it for yourself!

It’s been two years since I have been using this product. When I was initially considering this product I thought this monitor is too expensive and gaming experience wouldn’t be that much different if I got a 32 inch monitor. Boy I was wrong, gaming experience was drastically different and I haven’t had many hiccups. Only had one repair over the two year usage and Samsung made the repair experience nice and easy. I recommend this monitor to my friend and he is enjoying it as well. If this is in your price range go ahead and buy it.
