Customers are saying

Customers commend the Odyssey G7 monitor's picture quality, refresh rate, and immersive curved screen. Many appreciate the vibrant colors and HDR capabilities, although some found the price point high. A few users reported issues with flickering and dead pixels, while others experienced problems with adaptive sync and DisplayPort connections. Overall, the positive feedback on picture quality and refresh rate outweighs the negative experiences reported by some users.

It’s a nice monitor. The graphics are real clear. The big issue is the stand is too big. We are trying to figure out if there’s another stand we can get to replace the one that comes with the monitor

Great monitor this is one of very very few monitors that I can say is worthy. Everything about it is great people talk about back light bleed come on get real its not that big of a deal blacks are still awsome. Coming from a 4k monitor I wanted better frames this is everything plus what I'd want. And can't say the diff between 4k and 2560/1440 Is all that drastic but definitely won't let u down.

In order to get 4k hdr via hdmi port, on this Samsung odyssey 27" curved g7 monitor you have to turn off the free sync feature .which means the refresh rate will only be 144 hz not full 240 hz. With free sync on via hdmi you get only 1080p. You only get the full 4k hdr with 240 hz with the display port input with free sync on.thinking of returning this and get the older one I had Samsung odyssey ghg7 which had 144hz max refresh rate.

Great monitor with a few BUTs...

I was in the market for about a month looking for a quality monitor that had a pretty lengthy list of features that mattered to me. What I found was that nearly every monitor out there had compromises, and there didn't appear to be a single monitor that had all I was looking for (144+ refresh rate, 1440p+, G-sync, HDR, local dimming, DisplayPort 1.4+, height adjust, dark black levels, no fan noise, aesthetically pleasing). I was beginning to think I would have to bite the bullet and give up on one or more features in order to get a monitor that checked most of the boxes. Then came along this monitor and it checked every box. I purchased it immediately and I was chomping at the bit when it was delivered 5 days later. I will say that I am happy with this monitor, and it mostly delivered on what I was looking for, but there are a few BUTs to my statement which led me to give it 4 stars instead of 5. Below are my impressions of having worked with it now for about a full day. I do not think my impression will improve over time. My thoughts: Pros: -High refresh rate. Games look very fluid and I saw no lags or screen tears. -Fast response rate. I don't game competitively, but some of the benchmarking I saw indicates this performs well. -HDR looks great (after calibrating!). One of the few monitors in which having an HDR mode actually makes a difference. -Very aesthetically pleasing. It is a beautiful design. Lights aren't important to me, but they do give a nice touch without being overwhelming even in the dark. Can turn them Off, Back Only, Front and Back, and Rainbow. I personally like the Front and Back On with Rainbow colors. Gives it a little extra flair. -Strong black levels. There are many calibration images out there and this monitor displays the entire range of blacks without crush, and it looks great in a dark room. -Local dimming. I haven't tested this, but it is a feature that I was looking for. -Bright screen. No issues at all in a well lit room (5 feet from a large window). However, see below on instructions to increase this setting. -Great picture (after calibrating!) -Sturdy base and easy to assemble/install. -Curved screen is great and easy on the eyes. Took a little while to get used to it since it is a more pronounced curve (36 degrees by my math) than other monitors that are in the 20 - 24 degree range). Cons: -Apparently, the adaptive sync feature cannot be used with picture modes other than custom. This is annoying because adaptive sync was On by default, and it took me an hour to figure out that was the setting that prevented me from changing the picture mode. -Footprint. This monitor (and the base) take up a lot of room. Albeit, it is less of a footprint than the previous year's model (12" deep vs 15"), make sure you take into account the dimensions because it is deeper than comparable monitors. -Dead pixels. Yes, unfortunately, I have found 1 dead pixel. This has plagued Samsung (numerous reviews out there about it). Fortunately it is in the lower left section of the screen in the search bar and unnoticeable except in fullscreen mode. I am not going to return it over one pixel because my luck, I'll get a replacement with three dead pixels. But Samsung really needs to figure this out. -Ports are difficult to access without moving monitor. The ports are on the underside on the back of the monitor, This probably works well if the monitor is mounted on a wall or on an open desk with easy access. Even then, you have to raise the monitor all the way up to get under it to plug anything in. On a desk like mine with a hutch, I didn't have the room to do this, so I fumbled around for half an hour to plug in a USB thumb drive. Not something I want to do every single time I need to plug something into it. And speaking of thumb drive... -USB doesn't recognize thumb drive. I tried to update to the newest firmware, which I downloaded from Samsung. Loaded it on a thumb drive. After 30 minutes, finally got the thumb drive into the USB slot...only for the monitor to tell me nothing is plugged into the USB port. #facepalm. There has to be an easier way. -"Brightness" setting is confusing. Out of the box, this monitor was very, very dark. It took me a while to figure out that the backlight needs to be increased. The problem? There is no setting called "Backlight" like there is on other Samsung products (and I own several). "Brightness" almost ALWAYS refers to the black level setting, and you learn over time not to increase it lest it washes out your image. Well, on this monitor, "Brightness" means "Backlight" and there is a separate setting called "Black equalizer" that enables you to adjust the black level. Once I figured this out, I increased the "Brightness" from 32 to 55 and I am super happy with the image on the screen. But this was part of that hour I spent trying to figure out why I couldn't adjust the picture mode. Once I did, I was able to see other modes were brighter and deduced the "Brightness" level is different than other Samsung products. Perhaps this is the result of a movement to get away from using "Brightness" to control the black level, since others complain about that confusion. But it wasn't intuitive on this monitor that "Brightness" adjusts the backlight. Perhaps include icons like they do on their phones? Picture of a lightbulb next to "Brightness" might be an indication they changed the nomenclature. -Price. It is a pricey monitor. Maybe that will soften for me over time. But as of right now, spending $750 for a monitor (incl tax) to have dead pixels and other aggravations as detailed above just makes the pill that much harder to swallow. In all, I do really like this monitor. It is unique and it combines all of the features that were most important to me and no other monitor out there does that. That said, once I adjusted the settings, I am happy with this monitor and its performance. I spent a few hours gaming last night and was very pleased with how the image looked compared to my older 1080p non-HDR monitor. The image is on par with my 4K HDR 65" Samsung TV that I occasionally plug into my computer for gaming. The few BUTs I noted are not going to change but hopefully Samsung can take the feedback into consideration for future releases.

I think it's a really nice monitor, however I've had two problems with it. First is that the stand that it comes with takes up so much room on a desk. I have a pretty big desk with no clutter and the feet of the stand immediately got in the way of my keyboard and mouse areas. Had to take it off the stand and install a swivel desk mount to put it on. Second problem is a bit more serious. Not even one month after I purchased it and started using it 2 pixels within 5 inches of the center of the screen became "stuck". They both appeared white/ light blue. One was only really noticable from certain angles but the other was very noticeable depending on the image on the screen. It's a $700 monitor, that shouldn't happen but apparently it's a known issue with this monitor. Unfortunately I was past the 15 day return policy for BestBuy, which really should be a 30 day policy imo. It did have a year warranty through Samsung so I called them up and sent it back to them for a replacement. Really hoping the next one I get doesn't have a lot of backlight bleed or this same pixel problem again. If you get a G7 with little BLB and no pixel problems then I don't see much other than the stand to complain about.

Monitor was great however was traded in due to front panel falling out. I think it is due to a flaw in the plastic housing around the panel. I would recommend just thoroughly inspect monitor same day of purchase or arrival.

    Left me at the alter...

I wanted to fall in love and be with it forever but... well let me go into detail...... ......... First the monitor is great for it's size, this one is the 32" model where PPI makes the resolution more like 1080p than 1440p, not a bad thing since I don't have the best eyesight in the world. In fact I would rate this as a plus in my case, I honestly and literally can't see the difference (lol). The flickering, oh, the flickering. After connecting everything to my mount (using that instead of the crows feet stand provided, preferred to keep my desk space available), I fired up Overwatch and was immediately impressed by the quality HDR image presented in front of me. I previously of the peasant guild only had my lowly PG279Q to keep me company, in all seriousness though that is no slouch. Happy as I was it soon gave way to angst as I noticed that if I tried to alt tab out of the game and come back, the screen would flicker uncontrollable, and here and there during games the screen would seem to flicker. For anyone curious I'm connecting via Displayport 1.4 running at 144Hz. I settled on this because in order to be able to run 10-Bit Color that is as high as she can go. Either way my 1080TI can only go really to around 165 with settings maxed out on most games, so no harm no foul at least for me. If however, you are set on taking your 2080TI or beyond higher it's something to consider if you want to take the colors where no man (ok at least not me) has gone before. And by all means, HDR and 10-bit is a sight to behold, even with the 32" and the PPI stuff I mentioned before. Just a quick note, if you are on the fence between the 32" and the 27", know that you can't go wrong either way, unless you go for a 4k 27" monitor but that's gonna cost ya. Ok but back on track, despite the shortcomings, and after updating the firmware, the flickering has been substantially minimized to only when my computer wakes up from sleep (I kinda am flaky myself when I wake up so who am I to judge). Another thing that helped was turning up the brightness just a tad, it was at 32 from the factory, for me about 40 was good, otherwise it started to look washed out any higher than that. Feel free to leave the settings as is though and don't worry about it being off, this thing is close to perfectly calibrated from the factory so kudos to Samsung on that. For movies this is a great experience to be had, I hadn't really been able to appreciate a good movie on my computer like this before, always I would fall back to my TV for that purpose. No more. But this is about the all around experience and this monitor flirted so close to perfection I will keep it around just because I think it's that good a value. Minus FPS click shooter type games, you can't go wrong either, especially if you just flat out turn off G-Sync (adaptive sync) that eliminates all the flickering I mentioned previously. But let's be honest, noone that shelled out the extra cash for that feature on this monitor will turn that off, flicker or not. If you do though, more power to you. My advice? If you really want the top end and you can spare a few hundred more, go for one of the 4k 27"ers that will future proof you in addition to giving you the color fidelity you are looking for. As far as this monitor goes, there are too many compromises to be made, although I know that's what marriages are all about. If you have this monitor already, don't read this and thing "what have I done", oh no, this was a great purchase and if a friend of mine asked I would indeed have no qualms of recommending it to them. And if you are unsure of whether to get this or the 27", price wise it's great for the features you get. Just know what you are getting before you tie the knot.

While setup is a bit more involved than other monitors, it only takes a few minutes to put together and get connected. Going from a flat screen to the curve of this one takes some getting used to. The curve is however very easy on the eyes. Had no problem with latency or refresh rates, this monitor hooked up and ran at 244hz right out of the box. Picture is good and clear, the ambient lights are nice and not too bright. So far I have nothing negative to say about this monitor.

Most people's concerns with this monitor are the curve which was definitely one of mine too. I'll say at first it was very noticeable but quickly, on the same day even, I got used to it. I think looking at the monitor from the back also makes the curve seem like more than it actually is. Aside from that, it's one of the best 1440p monitors. The 240hz is nice and a bit smoother but coming from a 144hz monitor, it's not the most groundbreaking thing and should not be your main reason for buying this. HDR is of course not as close to what you'd get on a TV but it still works decently well with a noticeable improvement to movies. For people with a PS4 Pro or PS5 that doesn't allow for native 1440p, this monitor will have the console output to 4K and then downscale to 1440p which still looks a lot better than 1080p. The only downside I can think of is the colors can look a bit off if you're not sitting at the center of the screen.

The 1000R curvature on this monitor is extremely immersive for gaming and makes viewing seem so natural. The refresh rate and picture quality are impressive and it has a nice feature set. The stand is highly adjustable so I had no issue getting it into a comfortable view position. However, I had to spend quite a bit of time tweaking settings to get it working how I wanted (240Hz refresh, G-Sync/VRR, etc) which was a little frustrating, but once I got it into the correct mode/settings, it has been great. I have on-going compliant that when the monitor goes into Power Save mode, it causes my PC to detect a device disconnect which wakes up the PC, which wakes up the montior creating an endless of device disconnect/device connect sounds playing if I just walk away from PC without shutting it down/manually putting it to sleep. Minor annoyance that I could probably fix, but just thought I'd mention it. In hindsight, I wish I would've just gone up to the 32" monitor for even better immersion but if you sit close or have limited desk space, this monitor is great.
