Many appreciate the vibrant colors and HDR capabilities, although some found the price point high. A few users reported issues with flickering and dead pixels, while others experienced problems with adaptive sync and DisplayPort connections. Overall, the positive feedback on picture quality and refresh rate outweighs the negative experiences reported by some users.

Great monitor, only one flaw......

I accidentally broke my ultrawide monitor in June and was in desperate need of a dedicated gaming monitor as gaming on my TV was nowhere as smooth as gaming on a monitor. I debated heavily between getting another ultrawide, or a 4k monitor. I have a 2080ti, and while i am able to achieve 4k/60fps in most games, i decided I prefer a higher refresh rate over visual fidelity. While gaming on an ultrawide monitor is such a beautiful experience, it does have it flaws, mainly there are some titles that arent supported by it. Then I saw this monitor was releasing and the 1440p/240hz grabbed my attention immediately. This is a beautiful monitor......i love the insane curve on it. Honestly after sitting in front of it for more than a few minutes, you don’t notice a curve at all. The colors on this monitor are above and beyond better than my previous VA ultrawide. The QLED technology is really good. This monitor has HDR600, so while it is often said that you truly want HDR1000 and above to get the experience, I feel like the HDR on this is perfect and gets plenty of bright. It is noted that I play in a dark room at all times, and Im not sure how it would hold up in a bright room.
With my 2080ti I am pretty much able to hit 240fps in certain e sport titles, albeit some titles i do have to dial down some settings. Some people say they cannot tell a difference between 60/100/144/240hz........i honestly feel like its a massive difference. My previous monitor was 100hz/120hz OC and it was a night and day difference from 60fps. With 240hz, while the difference isnt AS dramatic as a leap I saw from 60fps to 120......it is quite a noticeable upgrade from 100/120 to 240. In FPS i feel like i am able to track players a hell of a lot better with the higher refresh/frame rates and the response time on this monitor is perfect to me.
The one flaw I have with this monitor is probably the most notorious issue this monitor has been having thus far which should end up being fixed with a firmware update soon enough. The screen flickers with adaptive sync on. In certain games its very noticeable. Its almost distracting to me in certain titles with dark scenes. I played Shadow of the Tomb Raider earlier today with HDR on and in a part of the game that is set at night, the constant flickering was driving me crazy. Turning it off fixed the problem
Another flaw (for some) that can be attributed to this monitor is the back bleed. It’s a VA panel, its expected. It doesn’t bother me at all. It bothers others. Its nothing to ever notice except when the screen is completely black.
Overall I am happy with my purchase. The clarity of 1440p, mixed with the high refresh rate, very very good colors, and a really nice curve that adds to the immersion. Once a firmware comes out to fix the flickering with adaptive sync on, i really feel like this monitor can do no wrong

It's a nice, decently-sized curved monitor! Sadly, not only is the button a bit glitched out, but the screen is also quite sensitive. Don't put too much pressure on the screen. I cracked mine. Overall, a product that comes with everything a gamer needs. For the long run? Just be careful.

Where to start off. The monitor is great, it is a nice sized and it really gets you immersed into the games. I gave it a one star rating due to the reliability of the product. I bought this monitor last year and it worked great until a few months ago. It stopped giving video output. Sent it to Samsung to get it fixed, they fixed the issue. Then I got it back for a few months and now it won’t power on at all. Sent it back to Samsung and they can’t fix it. Now I’m waiting for a full refund from Samsung.

Great display, terrible input switch and slow OSD

I WFH and wanted to upgrade my displays, which I use for my personal and work PCs. The monitor works great once it's running for either PC. However, my biggest gripes with it are the incredibly slow OSD and the terrible input detection. I've had the same setup with various different monitors. It's wild that you have these issues for such an expensive monitor. My past non-Samsung and even much cheaper monitors have not had either of these issues.
With input auto switch on, if you turn off one PC and the monitor goes to sleep/is off when the other is turned on, it never switches input automatically. The input polling dialog comes up when it hasn't detected the input, but it's unable to identify it. If the monitor isn't off/asleep, the switch still doesn't work most of the time, though the behavior is very inconsistent: sometimes it keeps a black screen for a long time before it shows no input; other times it shoes it right away but cannot find the other source. The auto switch has only worked twice in almost two months.
Having to switch any settings manually, turn off or wake the monitor is a pain as you have to wait so long. Since 99% of the time input auto-switch doesn't work, I am having to go through this at least twice a day (to switch to work PC in the morning and personal PC in the afternoon). Turning it on or waking it up first, waiting for it to be responsive again, and then switching inputs. I have to this even more if I want to use the PIP/PBP feature or have one monitor for work PC and the other for personal PC to watch something while I work, really taking away from yet another of their features.

Comprehensive review: Odyssey G7 in early 2021

After somehow successfully buying an RTX 3080 and a 5600x, I was looking for a screen that could reasonably push those two parts. This screen was on my watchlist for a while, and I saw it pop up in stock and decided to give it a whirl. I found more value in the 27 inch, they have the same specs between the 32 inch and the 27, with an increase in PPI.
Pros:
- Good resolution (1440p)
- Stupid fast refresh rate (240hz) I think I’m one of the few who can tell a noticeable difference and improvement between 144 and 240.
- Insane response times, almost feels like you are connected to the monitor.
- Good color accuracy, out of the box it isn’t “professional grade” but if you have a color calibrator this panel can and has been able to be calibrated to professional levels of color accuracy.
- Dark smearing is basically not a thing in this VA panel.
- Gets pretty bright. In a lit room this really pops. It’s not 1000 nits, but it’s totally useable in bright daylight settings.
Cons:
- Scanlines appear at 240hz. If you google “Scanlines G7” or “Scanlines G9” you’ll be linked to a Reddit post that explains what’s going on. It’s a trait of Samsung VA panels that can be mitigated by dropping to a mere 120hz.
- Not the best contrast, and in turn, not the best HDR. This will not look good in a dark room. It’s MUCH better than the IPS glow but you won’t get that characteristic inky blacks from a typical VA panel. Maybe in order to combat black smearing, the black has been raised? 1000 IQ move from Samsung lol. I expect the one I have to be around 2000:1.
- Curved way too hard for 16:9. If this was 21:9 it would make a lot more sense but it sometimes gets annoying. I think I’ve gotten used to it completely, but this seems to be a love or hate thing. Makes games way more immersive though.
In terms of value for the 27 inch or even the 32 inch, it isn’t that well priced. This panel constantly goes on sale for $100 less, and if you see it in stock with that discount there is no reason not to hesitate. It’s a fantastic panel, extremely responsive, fantastic colors, gets pretty bright, and shows frames like no other. If you buy it, you’ll have to go through a lottery, but if you get a good one, you’ll probably love it.

I upgraded from an ASUS PB278Q from roughly 5 years ago. This monitor is absolutely incredible.
A little quick technical overview.
This monitor updates the display 240 times a second versus my previous monitor at 60 times a second.
Even if your video games don't update as fast as this monitor can display information, your experience will still be exceptionally smooth.
The response time, the monitors ability to respond to and display information is fairly consistent even down to 60Hz.
Even though this is a VA panel, there isn't any noticeable black level smearing. The colors are exceptional too. The blacks and colors look incredible in Cyberpunk and other games. I, however, don't do any professional work requiring accurate colors so I can't speak on that. I also haven't really messed with the HDR. Regarding a big issue with the monitor earlier this year, I've updated the firmware and haven't experienced any flickering that many reported experiencing.
My 2 complaints are that my monitor came with a single dead pixel and Samsung has an awful warranty. Samsung doesn't offer a pixel perfect warranty which is unfortunate as other competitors do. Fortunately, I will be able to exchange this at Best Buy. However, I would've most likely been stuck with this monitor had I not purchased it through Best Buy. For a monitor this expensive, they really should be able to back their product in comparison to companies like LG or Asus.
Overall I really enjoy this monitor and its TN/IPS level performance regarding its refresh rate and response times. The blacks are fantastic and the colors are really good too.
Be mindful of the warranty but just know that this truly is a fantastic VA display.

Great Monitor for Gamers

Fast 2-Day shipping from Best Buy (California to DC). Upgraded from an ASUS 144hz MG278Q and am blown away with the visuals in game (Mostly playing COD: Warzone/Apex Legends). Objects in-game are super realistic looking, partly due to the nice inky blacks this monitor offers. Colors do take a bit of tweaking out of the box (IMO), but I have currently settled on:
Source: Displayport Cable (use Displayport Ver. 1.4 for HDR)
Picture Mode: Custom
Black Equalizer: 13
Freesync: ON (running a Radeon RX 5700XT)
Brightness: 60
Contrast: 75
Sharpness: 64
Be aware that turning on the HDR option in windows will make the picture look terrible. From what I've read it's worth turning on only when viewing HDR specific video (i.e. Youtube). Games seem to automatically pick up the HDR feature on the monitor without having the Windows option turned on from what I can tell.
Assembly was pretty straight forward except I'm a "tweaker" so I decided to leave off the horizontal back plate cover for the monitor as it became very annoying to have to keep popping the plate off every time I wanted to add or take off a cable. However, stand has a very useful cable hideaway that runs vertically down for better cable management.
There is RGB lighting in the two front angled wings and in the back where there is a circular light around the mount area. The colors are adjustable via the OSD but it's a shame that you cannot sync it with Razer Synapse as all of my other peripherals are. Also, there does not seem to be a way to increase or change the brightness of the RGB's which is a bummer because they are actually pretty dim.
240hz is a game changer in my opinion and really does make a huge difference in twitch type shooters like COD or Apex where the game becomes buttery smooth.
Finally, this is my first curved monitor, and although I was apprehensive at first, I found the monitor very easy to get used to. It only took a couple of hours for me to almost not even notice the curve. When I do notice the curve, it's more in a 'this is so cool' way and not in a motion sickness or queasy way.

Beautiful rich, deep colors, great HDR. Definitely a Samsung monitor. Refresh rate caps out at 120hz if using HDMI port. Only issue I still currently have with this monitor is with the speakers. Haven't been able to get them to work on my Desktop, no issues on my laptop. Curvature took only 5 minutes to get used to and definitely makes a difference in immersion. RGB lights at the bottom corners and back of monitor can be controlled/turned off (either just the corner lights/back light or all together). has a sturdy stand, raises and swivels, monitor is built with good quality materials in general. Doesn't have that cheap feel to it. Adaptive sync works flawlessly using a MSI Ventus 3080. Dynamic contrast setting automatically adusts screen brightness to provide best possible screen contrast under current conditions. Which is an amazing feauture. I keep it at ultimate and windows HDR turned off. Games that play in HDR will do so automatically.

I recently got the Samsung Odyssey G7 27" monitor, and it has been a fantastic experience so far. The curved screen really pulls you into the game, making everything more immersive. Colors are bright and crisp, thanks to the QHD resolution and HDR support. Gaming is super smooth with FreeSync and G-SYNC compatibility, and I haven't noticed any lag or screen tearing. Setting it up was pretty straightforward with both DisplayPort and HDMI options available. Overall, it’s a solid choice for gamers looking to enhance their setup.

I went from a 1080p 165hz to this 1440p 240hz and the difference between the two are night and day. The image quality is remarkable and the refresh rate is incredible. Im not the greatest or the worst warzone player but every millisecond counts when playing this type of game. This monitor has made my gameplay exciting and we all know how cod can be a frustrating game at times

Monitor is fantastic. 1440p, GSYNC, FREESYNC, Curved, 240hz , HDR - its beautiful. No screen tears, colors are bright and vivid and black levels are fantastic as well. Best Buy delivered it so quickly while all others still have this pre-order state. Amazing! Great job BBuy. Highly recommend to game enthusiasts. Its pricey but falls in the line of competitive monitors in it class. The LEDs, on front and back are a great add to the monitor. Had no issues installing and getting it running.

What an amazing monitor. I noticed when I got it I had screen flashes and I am sure other people have experienced it with this monitor too. Just upgrade your display port cable and make sure it can handle 1440p. I bought one on amazing for $15-20 that can handle 16k resolution and ever since I haven't had any frame drop or screen flashes/tears. This monitor has a lot of detail and is the best for fps and resolution for competitive gaming. I suggest getting this monitor for sure. I will be upgrading from it next black friday, but only just to get OLED, but if you don't need OLED or an ultra wide monitor and are looking for 27" curved monitor for gaming, this is by far the best one for its price point...
