This Samsung vaccum is very difficult to program, and for whatever reason every couple of days it loses the program. It cleans well both on hardwood floors and carpet. The magnetic stip does not deter the machine at all. There is no way to map a room. This was expensive and in my opinion not worth the money.

I love this vacuum cleaner. It can go under beds and furniture. Consumer Reports was right, the square front does a better job of getting corners and close to the wall. We have cats and it's doing an awesome job or picking up all the cat hair.

This thing picks up everything! We lived in an apartment for a short time and this thing picked up a ton of dust and hair every day it ran, this was apparently cleaned carpets. I highly recommend this vacuum to anyone!

Not as good as I expected. It doesn't run on a schedule even though it's programmed and it there is no rhyme or reason to it's pattern. It doesn't get the edges or corners like we read it would do. It never runs in a straight line. It works pretty good on our carpet but not happy with the wood floors we have.

This is our 2nd robot vac and we wish this would have been our first! Our first brand quit working after 6 months. We went out and researched the many different brands and decided on this one because of the features. So glad we made this purchase! Always finds the charging station before running out of battery life and very easy to set up and also control with the remote.

We have owned this now for 6months and use it every Saturday. The ONLY thing I found as a downside to this unit is that I dont yet understand the logic it uses when cleaning a large room. It will run for about an hour, then dock itself and re-charge. When it resumes it tends to go back over areas it already cleaned. When its finally done you can see a map of what area it cleaned on its phone app and it never misses anything, but it just seems to take a while due to repeat canvassing. For small and average size rooms that can be finished in under one hour, it works perfect.

So excited to get one of these robotic vacuums! I’ve been curious to see just how good they perform. Right out of the box this Samsung POWERbot™ R7065 App-Controlled Self-Charging Robot Vacuum impressed me. It simply looks super cool! Like exactly what it is, a technology packed little robot to help keep your home neat and tidy. The unit was packed inside its box really securely. The vacuum itself weighs around 15 lbs, and seems solidly built. As far as home electronics go, Samsung is a brand name I know and trust, so I expected good performance from this machine. And the Samsung POWERbot did not disappoint. Before I continue on with my review, I do want to strongly recommend that anyone purchasing this robotic vacuum, thoroughly read through the included User Manual. The information within the manual is vitally important, not only with regards to the correct way to operate the machine, but also, in explaining necessary cautions and safety issues. Now, onto the good stuff. After unboxing the unit, the handy Quick Start Guide got my POWERbot up and running in short order. There is an app - the SmartThings (Samsung Connect) App; available for IOS and Android devices. You can operate the vacuum without having the app, but it’s a nice additional way to control the machine remotely, besides using the remote control which is also included in the box. The vacuum runs relatively quiet, with an almost pleasant sound, and is not overtly loud even when you change the Suction Power via the remote - there are 3 modes: quiet, normal, and turbo. Speaking of the remote... the buttons are pretty straightforward, as detailed in the instruction manual. With the remote control you can set the clock to create a cleaning schedule, change the suction power level, spot clean an area, and “tell” the POWERbot to return to the docking station for recharging. Another fun, and useful feature, is the ability to use the remote to ‘manually direct’ the robot vacuum which direction you want it to go, using forward/left/right arrows (there is no ‘backward’ function). However, the digital display panel located on the topside of the unit, allows you to control the operational functions of the vacuum without using the remote. The fun factor in using this machine is definitely worth mentioning. Just watching the robot vacuum do its thing, was entertaining. The edge cleaning function, specifically. Most of the time when the POWERbot approached a wall/furniture/etc., it did so almost “cautiously”, more slowly, as if judging the distance with its camera. Only a few times did the vacuum bump up against something. Then, as though thinking and considering its best options, it would reposition/realign itself, so as to thoroughly clean each section of the room. Pretty cool! Cleaning and maintaining the POWERbot - dustbin, washable filter, and rotating brush - is easy enough. Just follow the simple directions in the manual. The included ‘boundary marker strip’ I’ve not had occasion to test yet, as I’ve no need to make use of it with the layout of my home. Overall, the Samsung POWERbot™ R7065 App-Controlled Self-Charging Robot Vacuum is an impressive (and fun) machine, which I can highly recommend to anyone able to afford this type of technological, and convenient, household appliance.

This Vacuum is not ready for market. I purchased two models, the R 7065 and the R7040, based on positive reviews, one for upstairs and one for downstairs in my home. I should note that I have hardwood flooring on both levels of my home, and no pets. Both vacuums failed within 90 days, with the plastic yellow brush retaining clips breaking off both units. In addition, both units run out of power before they finish vacuuming, and instead of returning to base to re charge, they both just die in the middle of the floor. As others have stated, the Samsung "Smart Things" App is beyond bad, almost worthless. You can google other reviews, but needless to say I think it is just awful. There have numerous other error codes for both units, and when I contacted Samsung, I was told that under the manufacturer's warranty, that I would have to box them up and send them- AT MY OWN EXPENSE - to Samsung in New Jersey for repairs, and they would ship them back to me in 8 to 10 weeks. So, here I am, having spent 800.00 on two robot vacs, only to have them fail within 3 months. The Samsung customer service rep told me over the phone that "They are aware of minor issues with these units". Final resolution - both Samsung robot vacs got taken to the electronics recycle center, and I purchased two new iRobot Roomba i7 vacs. The Roomba cost almost twice as much, but they have proven to work perfectly so far.

Powerful, smarter than most but not without issues

Samsung's latest entry into the robot vac derby shows promise with some new smart functionality but is something of a mixed bag. Sure, the POWERbot R7065 has a more powerful motor than most (CycloneForce!), which makes it good for homes with lots of carpet. And on paper, it's smarter, opting for a more logical pattern in clearning rooms than the random routes chosen by many less expensive robots. (Visonary Mapping Plus and FullView Sensor 2.0!) If only Samsung had not made so many questionable design decisions, which makes a LOT less useful than it could be. Let's start with the unpacking experience, which one would think would be pretty straightforward. The usual routine is place the unit on the charger and juice it up before you try to do anything. Same with the Samsung, except nothing happens. Dig through the instructions and you discover a lot of odd things you have to do first. Like turn ON the "emergency on/off switch" hidden on the bottom of the unit. (Not sure why I need that). OK. Still nothing. Now, press and hold the button that looks like a "play" button on a DVD player and HOLD for three seconds. Huh? OK. So now its finally charging. At least there is a little panel with animated LEDs that show its charging and says "FULL" when it's done. (6 hours!) But why all these steps are necessary are beyond me. The next problem is the dirt bin, which is exceedingly small. Big enough for a room or two . Maybe. If you vac every day or two. That's bad enough. But there is another canister stuffed inside of the dirt bin that holds the fan for the vac. It's walled off from the dirt bin but not very well. Those with pets and carpets will find the fan quickly gets clogged with hair or carpet fiber, which has to be pulled out by hand. I am not sure who thought this was a good idea but it wasn't. Now about that mapping and sensor thing. I had high hopes for this since it is the downfall of many less capable vac robots, which blunder blindly about to get the the job done. But I quickly discovered that while this POWERbot is smart, it still has a lot of learning to do. It struggled with my admittedly difficult home, with lots of furniture and oddly angled walls. When it finally got out in the open, it did follow what I call a "lawn mower" pattern of cleaning instead of the more common random patterns employed by dumber vacs. But it still had trouble with some furniture, spending almost 5 minutes extracting itself from beneath the sled type base on an IKEA chair I own. In the end, if you have a house with lots of furniture or other obstacles, the POWERbot can be agnoizingly slow, stopping or moving at a snail's pace every time it runs up against something. It has to stop and "think" I guess, adding all this to its internal map. Samsung helpfully recommends removing all furniture for faster cleaning. Which, of course, is not really very practical. And then there's other strange issue. The POWERbot apparently has problems with "dark" or black floors. Instructions say it will not charge properly if it is parked on a dark floor and won't clean dark floors very well either. Not sure what the deal is there but it is troubling. That said, some advanced features are welcome and work very well. My favorite is the POWERbot's ability to sense when it is on hard floors or carpet and adjusts speed and cleaning power to suit that surface. It also is particularly adept at cleaning right up next to walls. The bot is flat on one side, which it pushed up against the wall. It then deploys a small blade that scrapes dirt from the edge back to vac, which goes to full power to suck up the offending dirt. This multistep process is complex and slows things down considerably but it does work. Although it's arguably no better than the spinning whiskers some other vacs have to clean edges. And they are faster. The POWERBOT lacks those. Samsung claims the POWERbot has 40 times more powerful suction than some lessor bots and does seem to do a good job without making a lot a noise (in quiet mode at least). But take that claim about being 40 times more powerful with a grain of salt. This model has three speeds -- quiet, normal and turbo. You probably dont want to run at the very loud turbo setting (normal is bad enough). Not only because of the noise but because the battery only lasts 30 minutes. But that's going to give you the most cleaning power. Like most robot vacs, the POWERbot has multiple remote control options. It comes with its own dedicated remote or can be controlled with Samsung's own Smart Things (formerly Connect) app. The dedicated remote is better in my view since the app is designed to work with a variety of smart devices. And therefore doesn't really work very well with any one of them. You can program the bot to run automatically with some effort.a One interesting feature: You can use the remote or app to to put the vac in "manual" mode and actually "drive" the vac if you want. But that sort of defeats the purpose of a robot vac, in my view. Overall, the POWERbot is a powerful robot vac that does a good job on hard floors and carpet. But it has some maddening design problems and the the smart functions slow it down so much in cluttered homes, you need a good deal of patience to use it.

We have liked this so far, we are surprised how much it actually picks up when our floors don’t even look dirty. One thing we have learned is that if the sliding glass door is open it will try to go out the door so good thing we noticed it before it fell. It only can with one boundary strip long enough to block off our basement stairs. No complaints otherwise, we use it every other day and have had it for about a month now.

I purchased this vacuum over two years ago. We have two dogs, brother and sister with hardwood flooring. They don't shed that much, but it has been nice to have this vacuum to "sweep" up their dog hair. My wife has been pleased that we don't have to spend our weekends vacuuming the floors. The dogs, they don't seem to mind the "black" device that travels the house!
