Every time we run it we're shocked at how much it picks up. Intelligent drive allows it to be placed in rooms with floor level changes without it going over and crashing

Excellent little vacuum. Cleans the floor really well. Love the feeling of a clean floor. I had bought the mid grade neato. It broke in the first couple weeks. Got this one after and have no complaints.

Picked this model from consumer reports review. The square front does a great job of cleaning corners and up against walls. The device fits under beds and dressers and gets to hard to reach areas.

The R7065 with its new design and added features joins an excellent family of Samsung robotic vacuums. I have owned a Samsung bot vac (R980020) for almost two years and have been very happy with it. My downstairs flooring is all wood, and that is where it is used exclusively. I was interested it the new R7065 for my upstairs which is carpeted, except for wood in the bathrooms. Getting started is easy. Take it out of the box, let it charge, press start on either the vac or the remote, and it’ll back out of the dock and start running the default pattern. There are a couple of other ways to control the operation, and I mention them a bit later. One of the nice features of the R7065 is the straight line front and the squared corners. This design allows better cleaning along baseboards and in corners, a problem with rounded fronts. In addition, the R7065 has updated mapping skills, allowing it to learn your layout pretty quickly. It’s updated sensing of furniture, walls, etc. is also very good. The height of the vac is such that it can more easily get under beds or furniture than some of its predecessors. If you have an adjustable bed, given the wiring, etc. under it, you might not want the vac to go there. If that’s not a problem, then let the vac work, because it’d be a great way of minimizing dust collecting under there. There are 3 power options: high provides the most suction, reducing somewhat for each of the two lower levels. That said, be aware that high is very loud, with sound level also reducing with each lower level. On hard floors, the lower suction/noise levels is still sufficient for cleaning. Trying the vac out for the first time, I tossed cereal crumbs in several areas of my kitchen and dining floors. I ran the vac on the middle setting and was pleased to find it eventually got all of the crumbs. There was one area where it partially picked the crumbs and moved on leaving the rest, which was disappointing. However, it came back later and finished the job, so all good. Upstairs, with the carpet/wood combo, the vac still performed excellently, easing shifting between the two surfaces. The R7065 comes with a boundary marker strip, which is a nice feature if there is someplace you don’t want it to go. Using the vac on the second floor, I placed the marker at the top of the stairs. The first time the vac approached, it did not stop at the marker. Before it took a dive, I stopped it, and turned it around. The second time it approached the marker it was more careful. So, the marker can be beneficial, but the top of a flight of stairs may not be the best place to fully rely on it. Staying power is also very important, and the vac performed well in that area. I checked it out by using it both up and down stairs (about 1800 square feet). The job was done on a single charge, so no worries for an average size house. There is a lot to be said for the R7065. The same cannot be said for controlling it via the app or by voice. The app can be found on both Google Play and the Apple device, depending on which phone/tablet you use. The voice command is via Amazon Alexa. Neither of these works well enough for bragging rights. Thankfully, you don’t need either for the R7065 to do its job! There’s always the remote. As the app/voice issues don’t really impact the excellent functionality of the R7065, I don’t hold them against it. The R7065 does a great job vacuuming, and I do recommend it.

Bought this to alleviate house cleaning for my girlfriend and I. We were pretty excited when we took it out of the box and let it do its first run. We were impressed by its navigation around walls, nooks and crannies, and generally getting around. Then... the constant C01 kept reappearing which is an indicator the roller was jammed. I cleared the rollers, restarted, and it would go for a few minutes then say C01 again. This would happen to the point it’d be better time used to use our Dyson cordless and clean because we wouldn’t have to waste time troubleshooting this thing. I returned mine and I’m not willing to give it a second chance.

    Best of the Current RoboVacs

Our house presents a significant challenge to RoboVacs. We have wood, tile, and linoleum flooring with transition strips between them. Throw rugs of various sizes and depths are scattered around. Add to that two dogs and the challenge is complete! RoboVacs in general are a significant time saver, but are not perfect. There is a certain amount of prep ahead of time (in our case it's picking up dog toys) that has to be done. They inevitably get stuck at some point, either under something or on the edge or fringe of a rug they sucked up. There is also manual spot cleaning because there are just some places the RoboVacs can't clean. The Samsung PowerBot R7065 is a significant improvement over previous generations of RoboVacs. It's low enough to get under most furniture without getting stuck and did a really admirable job of trying to extricate itself from a 'stuck' situation. When it rolled the edge of a throw rug, it backed up, moved over, and tried again. It seems to do a really good job of avoiding obstacles and steps, although it would occasionally push small objects around. It was also very good at traversing differing floor types, onto and off rugs, for instance. It seemed to navigate well throughout and cleaned rooms fully. The business end of the PowerBot is square and the brush extends the full width, so it can get into corners easily. It also has an edge detect that opens up a side vac. It doesn't need the whisker brushes that you see on the round units which tended to scatter dirt in my experience. It does a really good job of cleaning. It's also quieter than most of the units we've tried, with varying suction depending on the type of floor. The suction seems to be better than other units we've had. The dust cup filter is rinsable and doesn't need to be replaced often. The PowerBot appears to be well constructed and should be very durable. There is an almost overabundance of control options. The PowerBot can be controlled manually from a top control panel (pick it up, put it where you want it to clean, push the button), dedicated remote control, phone app, or Alexa/Google Home. Setup was easy, including connecting to wifi. The dedicated remote has a laser pointer that can be used to direct the PowerBot to spot clean a specific area. There is also a magnetic strip that can be used to fence off areas. The Android app worked well. It was a bit limited, but this may change in the future. All the cleaning options were available in the app. Scheduling was limited to 'once' or 'daily'. There was no option to set three or four times a week. There is a history map that gives a picture of where the PowerBot had cleaned. The map couldn't be used, for example, to virtually fence off an area, which would be really useful. At least you know where it's been. There was also no notification when the PowerBot gets stuck. Although it hasn't happened yet, it would be really nice to get a notification on the phone to go rescue the bot. The minor annoyances can't take away from the fact that the PowerBot has done the best and most complete job of vacuuming of all the robovacs we've tried. It significantly reduced the amount of touchup vacuuming required to clean the house. Definitely recommended.

The Samsung - POWERbot™ R7065 App-Controlled Self-Charging Robot Vacuum is an improvement over the slightly earlier model we have and still use because we’re well pleased with it. For those not acquainted with the Samsung Powerbot, it is a powerhouse robotic vacuum. You set it on its charging stand in the room you need vacuumed, and when it’s fully charged, simply hit the Auto Clean button on the top of the Powerbot or a similar button on the included remote, and the Powerbot scans the room area above it using the onboard camera as it lays out a grid for the room. It then takes off along the lines of the grid it has established until its charge is down to about 15%. It will then head to its charging stand where it will charge back up and then finish its job, if the room is large enough to require additional vacuuming. Of course, the R7065 may be controlled in several ways: the buttons on the top of the Powerbot, the buttons on the included remote, the “buttons” in the Powerbot app for your Android or Apple phone, or you can even use some voice commands. You will need to use the app on your phone if you want the Powerbot tied into your smart home Wi-Fi network and to use voice commands. The Powerbot offers Auto Clean, Spot Clean, Manual Clean and Repeat Clean modes. You will find that Auto Clean is probably the most useful setting overall since you can get it started and then leave it alone until checking on it later. Most of the other modes, while useful at times, require more manual attention and control. It offers 3 suction settings. If set on one of the lower two settings, it will automatically move to the higher setting if it encounters rugs/carpet. You may set it on the most powerful suction setting to begin with if you prefer, and it will stay there until you change it. The lower settings will allow the battery charge to last longer, but you will have reduced suction power; however, the lower settings may be all you need depending on the condition of the surface in question, and it will clean hard or carpeted surfaces alone or in combination. The Powerbot does an excellent job of cleaning. The brush has been improved to include brush bristles coupled with rubber “paddles” (these remind you of the paddles on a river steamboat). With the power available and the improved brush, it does a really good job of vacuuming. The dust bin is easily removable for cleaning and is large enough to not require emptying for each little room. You will be amazed at how much stuff it picks up! The filters are washable with two provided. In addition to normal floor cleaning, it will clean along the baseboards as well as in corners assuming it can reach them. The Powerbot can be scheduled to clean as well. You set the time of day, whether it’s just once and done, or if it should clean at the same time each day. While it can get hung up on something, it’s powerful with large drive wheels so it can negotiate most areas. Its sensors keep it from running off elevated floors or steps as well. Word to the wise – look over the area you mean for it to clean and remove anything that will get in its way (power cords, small toys etc.) as you would do if you were using a manual vacuum cleaner in the same room. Also, the first time or so you use it, check on it fairly often. You may find it needs some larger objects moved slightly so it can get behind them or even to block an area that’s like a small box canyon where it may have a tough time navigating back out of. Once you’ve learned any issues in that area, you’ll feel better leaving it to itself without worrying too much about it getting caught in a bind. A word about the charging station: plug it in in the room you want the Powerbot to work. The charging station emits a signal to the Powerbot, so it can find its way back to it when the battery runs low. If the station is a couple rooms away, it may not have a strong enough signal to navigate back to it. Also, place the charging station with its back against the wall with some space on either side. That way your Powerbot has room to maneuver itself onto the charging contacts. It must approach it head-on to make proper contact for recharging. I’ve found that the most efficient way to let the Powerbot run automatically is to set it near the middle of the room facing it to run with the length of the room at a 90-degree angle from the side walls. You want it to run so that its path is equidistant from the side walls along its path where possible. In other words, letting it run instead at some other angle in a rectangular or square room will use the charge more quickly since it will have to stop and turn more to get lined up to go back the opposite direction – remember, it works on a grid it’s mapped in its little brain. The Powerbot has more sensors than previous ones so that it does a better job of not running into furniture; however, it “seems” hesitant in constricted areas because it’s navigating to better avoid table legs and such. This is a good thing – more sensors on a robotic vacuum better enable it to do its job. There’s a couple of things I would like to see improved: 1) Its ability to return more directly and quickly to the charging station. When it senses the need to recharge, the suction will quit, and it will maneuver toward the charging station. If there are a number of objects in a direct line between it and the charging station, it will end up turning and backing many times to where it can sometimes get going down a route that actually takes it further from the charging station. If it could sense the charging station while “seeing” what lies between and take a clearer route, even if it’s a little longer, it would arrive at the station in less time than it sometimes does. 2) It would helpful if when scheduling the Powerbot to vacuum you had the option of selecting a few days for it to run instead of once and done or everyday at the set time. That way you could have it work two or three days a week instead of just once or every day as your choices. The Powerbot is a great vacuum and will do a really good job. My final word for your peace of mind is to not watch it too closely. At first it’s fascinating to watch it maneuver and do its job, but if you can get past that and just let it work while you go do something else, it won’t drive you crazy while it’s finding a path around things – and it will – but we humans see the layout clearly in the room and we end up unconsciously urging it to go this way or that way as the best path when we watch it. Robotic vacuums have their own way to find where they need to go, but it will be more complicated and perhaps slower than our way – let it alone and go wash the dog or something. You’ll be more relaxed if you do!
