I received bought this q990c soundbar and was extremely excited to see what this baby can do! Unfortunately, when I opened the box i found out i was missing a power cable, the remote and and wall mount brackets!! I called the 1-800 number for best by and they informed me that my local best buy had a open box excellent codition unit as well. So i packed up everything and took it back to the store. When i got to the store they told me that they couldn't exchange it for me because the price was $300 dollars more! Keep in mind i just received the package the night before! So they gave me the parts out of the one they had and sent me home with the same soundbar. I hooked up the soundbar and connected it to the smartthings app. Then to my surprise the soundbar comes up as the q90b!!! I thought it has to be some sort of app error so I checked the model on the bottom of the sound bar. And it says HQ990B!!!!!! SO MAD!!!! I will change this review if my problem gets solved!!!

      Hello AtharB,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding the HW-Q990C Soundbar. Your review is very important to us and it will be shared with our product team.

There are a few steps you can take to adjust your Soundbar to your liking. Using the Sound Mode button you can choose between Surround, Game Pro, Adaptive or Standard.

There are two adjustments that can be made to maximize bass from the soundbar and subwoofer:
      1) Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the level between -6 to +6. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.

      2) Adjust the bass or treble levels by pressing the TONE CONTROL button on the remote control. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

If you would rather fine-tune your audio manually, press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons. (Make sure the Sound mode is set to “STANDARD”.)

You are able to adjust every channel that the Soundbar has available, including the rear speakers. Using the provided Soundbar remote you will press the CH LEVEL button and then use the UP/DOWN buttons to adjust between -6 to +6.

You can alternatively use the SmartThings app which will allow you to see all of the setting adjustments, volume level, input right from your iOS or Android smart device.

Should you ever have questions or need help, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for Soundbars), available 8 AM – 12 AM EST, 7 days a week.

INCREDIBLE. This is The One!...FULL STOP!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've been eye-balling Samsung's Flagship Q-Series Soundbars, ever since I bought my LG C1 65" from Best Buy on Black Friday 2 years ago. At that time, Samsung's Flagship Soundbar was the HW-Q950A, which sounded great, but did not have Wireless Dolby Atmos, or the Space-Fit Sound(Room scanning) features available yet, for use with Non-Samsung TVs, so I decided to wait. Welllp, lets just say I'm glad I waited 2 model years for their latest and greatest Flagship soundbar, the HW-Q990C, which I finally got delivered last week. I'll start with the SLIGHTLY not so good things I have to say about the Samsung Q990C Soundbar, even though none of them really have to do with sound quality..and are more just inconveniences with the physical soundbar hardware or TV/Soundbar combo when connected to the TV you'll likely be using the soundbar with. 1. The rather large dimensions(it's also very heavy, & understandably so, because this thing is a freakin beast!) of this soundbar can sometimes cause the bottom portion of your TV's display to be obstructed/cut off from view, if your TV is not wall mounted, AND the included or 3rd party stand you're using does not elevate your TV high enough over the top of the soundbar(even though the flip side of this argument, at least in my case, is that the LG C1 65" TV stand was just designed very poorly, without proper soundbar height clearance in mind on their 2021 OLEDS, although this issue definitely affects more than just 2021 LG OLEDs, based off some things I've read online, and is also not just specific to this soundbar. In any case, LG seem to have listened and have altered their stand height on future models to allow for sound bars to fit underneath the stand without cutting off any picture). In my case(LG C1 65"), this issue was cheaply, and easily remedied, by adding a roughly 43"Lx10.5"Wx2"H wall shelf underneath the TV stand, sitting on top of my entertainment center. This provides a good inch or more of elevation/clearance between the bottom of the TV and the top of the sound bar, and does not block the remote sensor for the TV anymore either. 2. The supplied Samsung power cables are wayyyyy too short for the rears, if you plan to put them on speaker stands, instead of wall mounting them or using as bookshelf speakers. The supplied power cables are either 3 or 3.5 ft long(can't remember which) which is totally fine for the main soundbar and subwoofer, but Samsung, we definitely need longer power cables PLEASEEE, at least 2 of them for the rear speakers! I again went after market to purchase longer extension power cables, compatible specifically with the Q990C.. And again you can find information about which cables are compatible by searching online. They may even have in store at Best Buy. Just make sure they are non-polarized 90 degree angle extension power cables, if you plan on using speaker stands for the rears. 3. If you have vaulted or very high ceilings in your home, I'd recommend setting the rear speaker channels all to maximum level, or close to it(Max is +6), and all but the main Center Channel raised a little as well(Front Top, Wide/Side firing, etc) for the best Atmos effects. You'll have to play around with it in your specific room, should you have high ceilings. Okay. Now for the good, and there's a whole lot of it, so I'll keep this short, because not a lot needs to be said, as the audio quality from this soundbar is top notch. Aside from the minor inconveniences I listed above, this soundbar is INCREDIBLE. FULL STOP. Honestly, might be a little...rather...way too powerful for my apartment...my neighbors probably hate me lol, but it sounds incredible, and I'm respectful about the volume when necessary haha. Not to mention that the deal I got on the Q990C was too good to pass up. I have used the soundbar for everything from streaming TV shows/movies in the best quality audio available, to playing Hi-fi Lossless/Atmos music, to using the built-in Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings Hub functionality to connect my Matter and other IoT smart home devices to my home network, and control them. Bottom line, if you can swing it, this is the one to get, if you want the closest thing you're going to find to a full dedicated surround setup, using just a soundbar, sub & rears!

    Q990c vs Q930c

I first purchased the q930c from bestbuy thinking I didn’t want to spend the extra $400 to get the q990c soundbar and thought how different can they be. So when i setup the q930 i was sort of underwhelmed and decided to purchase the q990 and let me tell you the difference is night and day. Let’s start with the soundbar itself. The center channel is MUCH more crisp and lively and the left and right channels are distinguishable and also louder and more crisp. Moving to the subwoofer, the sub is a bit deeper and tends to hit more notes but the sub isn’t too different than the q930 but it’s slightly better. Moving to the rears, there’s absolutely no comparison there. The rears are actually noticeable, louder and more crisp. Watching a movie on the 930c felt like you have a good soundbar but watching a movie on this 990c felt like you have an actual expensive speaker setup with a huge amplifier. Im impressed with the q990 and so glad I decided to get this instead. If you’re deciding between the two trust me go for the q990 the extra $400 is WELL worth the sound difference. I felt like i got ripped off with the 930c.

This system is very immersive in sound. I was very impressed with it. Took a little while to adjust and figure out settings. Pros: easy to install, sounds amazing, great Dolby atmos. Subwoofer provides clean deep toned bass that makes it sound like a larger diameter subwoofer then it is. (Just not very loud) Center channel in this unit get very loud which I had to leave factory setting and even turn down a little. Cons: Samsung cheeping out with all their new products and don’t provide paper copy of owners manual. Due to not have paper copy of owners manual I had to look up all settings and learn what they meant to adjust system. Hard to navigate adjustments with small LED screen on front of unit. Subwoofer sounds great just doesn’t get ground shattering loud bass Rear surround speakers needed to be maxed out level 6 to really get the effect out of them. Have to play them above moderate volume to really hear them well but when turned up sound great. Night mode - wish there was a night mode on controller like competitors have. Remote could very well be improved. In conclusion if you are using the system as a all in one unit for movies music etc it is great. Movies especially 4K blue ray play awesome. If you like powerful bass when playing music well this system will not impress you. Bass quality and depth sounds great with movies and music but is more focused of quality of tones then loud bass

The sound is awesome! Super good bass and the surround sound is spectacular, especially Dolby Atmos. Been using them for about 2 weeks with no issues. Added them to Samsung SmartThings for robust configuration. I especially like the night mode to tone the bass way down and to not shake the house when my wife is sleeping when I am playing PS5 or watching a movie. Unfortunately I ordered the 930c accidentally through Best buy's app, they sounded awesome as well, but really am enjoying the 990c. 22 total speakers, rear satellite speakers shoot sound out the front, top and side, the sound bar shoots sound out the front, side rear and side front along with top for the Dolby Atmos experience. Probably the best sounding speakers for the money. I definitely would buy these again if needed, again these sound great for the price.

I did all the research you can imagine, reviews, and more reviews. I can honestly say buying this Samsung soundbar system was the best decision I could have made. If you want to be fully immersed and feel what the director intended, then look no more, it is amazing! The subwoofer provides the low frequency rumble that all of the high end traditional home theater systems do! When watching anything encoded in Dolby Atmos you will be blown away. Make the purchase, you will not be disappointed.

This is soundbar system is absolutely AMAZING!!! I was super skeptical at first.. Being that it’s not a “true” surround sound system.. so to speak.. but let me tell you, I’ve been blown away MANY times over the last year of using this! From movie night to fight night and everything between this system is SWEEEETTT!!! Can literally hear the bullets whizzz by you and ricochet in some action movies! The soundbar and rear speakers have forward facing, side facing, AND top facing speakers that all adjustable INDEPENDENTLY!!! You can really tune this thing in and have it sound amazing in any room or setup!! The subwoofer is astounding as well!!! It’s HEAVY! And really BOOMS!! If that’s what you want it to do.. from music to movies this system really rocks!!

First of all, I'm comparing this soundbar to my previous one (Vizio M512a-H6) and it blows it out of the water. Granted, the Samsung Q-990C is 3x the money of the Vizio, but you're getting at least 3x more of the enjoyment. I bought the Samsung to heighten my movie experience and it doesn't disappoint. I read and watched reviews and decided to pull the trigger. I still have more to learn from the 990C, since I've had it for just 2 days. It took me a little bit to get it set up and synced. I had to push and hold the buttons on the back of the subwoofer and surround speakers to sync with the soundbar. Once they synced, I put on movies like "Godzilla vs. Kong," "The Matrix," and "Doctor Strange 2" to get a feel of how the speakers sound. The bass is punchy and the surrounds are loud and crisp. I can only imagine how video games will sound. The soundbar itself is pretty heavy and it takes up the whole length of my current 55" TV (upgrading it today with a 75" Hisense U7K). The subwoofer is at least 20 pounds and the surround speakers is 3 times as heavy as my old Vizio surround speakers. I had to buy different speaker stands since they don't support them. I would say buy it if you have the money to do so. In my opinion, I couldn't afford to spend a $2,000, but for $1,500...this soundbar/base/surround speakers are a lot better than the $500 soundbars out there. I've only had it for 2 days, but I can see a notable difference from the Samsung 990C than the Vizio I had. It has a richer, fuller, enveloping sound that flagship models should have.

Sound is great! The subwoofer is pretty powerful. The only geipe i had was the initial setup, i couldnt get the satalite speakers and subwoofer to sync to the sound bar. The instruction said to hit the volume up button while doing the sync. The problem was, the instructions did not say that the cirular button on the remote, is the volume button it wants you to press. It has another up and down button labeled as volume that i was using. Once i figured this out everything synced together and i couldnt be happier. I am using the HDMI ARC for everything. At first i did use the wifi input from my tv to the sound bar, but found HDMI ARC to be much easier.

In July 2022, I acquired a Samsung 85” Class QN90B Neo QLED 4K Smart Tizen TV and had Geek Squad techs mount it in my high-rise condo using a Sanus wall mount. Pleased with the TV, I later purchased and installed a Mounting Dream sound bar mount with a scissor-type mechanism, also done by Geek Squad. Opting for higher rear speakers due to furniture obstructions, I got VideoSecu mounts that extend to 47”. Delighted with the sound quality, I positioned the rear speakers diagonally, following the advice of Best Buy techs regarding LEFT and RIGHT markings. The audio system comes with a separate remote, and after initial setup, you can likely use your standard TV remote. The subwoofer's placement is a matter of personal preference—I opted for a few inches away from the wall with the larger speaker hole facing the listener for direct impact. Speaker settings are controlled via remote, with more specific settings visible on the sound bar's scrolling text. Although I would prefer onscreen visibility for these specifics, general sound settings can be adjusted onscreen. The eARC audio setting, in my experience, provides clearer and crisper sound compared to the ARC setting. Cranking the subwoofer to max +6 settings enhanced my Jazz listening experience on Spotify. Overall, investing in these audio upgrades has been the best sanity-restoring decision since purchasing the TV last year.

It's like bringing the cinema right into your living room! First off, the design is sleek and modern, fitting seamlessly with any decor. But it's the sound that really blows you away. Imagine watching your favorite movie and feeling like you're right in the middle of the action. That's what the Samsung Dolby Atmos Soundbar does. The sound quality is so clear and detailed; you can hear every whisper and explosion with incredible precision. It's like rediscovering your favorite films and music all over again. And let's talk about the setup – it's a breeze! Even for someone like me who's not exactly a tech wizard, I had it up and running in no time. Plus, being able to stream music wirelessly from my phone is a game-changer. But the best part? The way the sound fills the room, surrounding you from all angles. It's like being transported to another world, whether you're watching a thrilling action sequence or just kicking back with some tunes. Overall, the Samsung Dolby Atmos Soundbar isn't just a sound system – it's an experience. If you're looking to take your home entertainment to the next level, look no further. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

This soundbar is samsung's newest flagship. I also have the 950A and in comparison this one has more punch on the base side. It has spacefit pro and wireless Atmos. It seems to sound great out of the box with minor adjustments. Overall seems to be a major improvement over the 950A with the grill finish and sound. Just pricey but with new products it seems that way.
