Awesome sound bar and surround functions with all Q-series SS televisions. I've got this system hooked into a SS 85" 8k tv which is stunning and I highly enjoy. During installation of your tv and soundbar the system picks up the soundbar presence right away. The soundbar surround speakers only require a plug to 120v power to function with the soundbar and subwoofer. Some older soundbar systems had a surround receiver and speakers plugged into that device making a very clunky setup. Granted the HT holy grail is the HT receiver and wired surrounding speakers. However if you want a much cleaner simpler look and installation you cannot beat the wireless subwoofer and surround rear speakers. There is impressive results with the dialogue as the television and soundbar speakers present a cleaner center channel for speech. BB TotalTech delivery, setup, and 2 year warranty make this a BB no-brainer purchase for your new Q-enabled SS tv. TotalTech is great for all your electronics and appliance deliveries and setups as well.

I rarely write reviews but this soundbar is excellent. I replaced a Sonos arc set up and this Samsung blows it away at a much lower price! It’s great for tv, movies and music. Most soundbars struggle with music. With my past setup, I couldn’t really tell the difference on Apple Music between Dolby Atmos tracks. With this Samsung, it’s like having HomePods on steroids lol. If you’re in the Apple ecosystem then get this. It has airplay 2. It has full android support too. You can actually hear the rear speakers on tv shows. This is huge for older shows where some other soundbar setups don’t really use rears. I highly recommend this q990c. I was a little hesitant because the price is lower than other systems. Almost every review site ranks this as the soundbar to get. I wondered if the lower price point is why and it was hyped up. Nope, this blows everyone else away. Hype exceeds expectations.

Moved and didn’t want the hassle of having wired rear speakers in the ceiling. Replaced a 10+ year old high end system that was a receiver wired to big speakers in front and 4 ceiling speakers for rear. I set this system up in a few minutes. Needed a couple extension cords for rear speakers. Plugged the HDMI from the TV in and it all worked. I think it sounds great with both music played directly from my iPhone or watching movies. Plenty of volume to fill the house. Speakers are substantial feeling metal. I’ll never go back to traditional receiver with all those wires running everywhere. Music was clean and crisp listening to many types: rock acoustic electronic etc. sub woofer held up to bass demands so far. Connected easily to 2018 Samsung tv.

Better than good but not 5 star excellent . Other than the little screen on bar need the Smart Things app to have a good visual of the capabilities of the bar unless I missed something. The Sony bar displays on screen from set up to firmware. Downloaded the firmware on pc to USB which plugs in the bottom of the bar. The rear speakers are vocal (which are great compared to the Sony’s) which fill the room. The sound bar has plenty of volume an adjustments through the app. Also are a couple of option for calibration however I believe only works with a Samsung TV produced after a certain year. Need to see if there are videos I may have missed posted for set ups. Did have to reset twice to reconnect to the app. But overall happy with it the Q 990 C or it would be a return. Also it’s a bedroom bar but it puts out the volume and fills the room nicely. Did put subwoofer isolation stand which improve the sound in the room, as well as deadening the sound through the floor. Also Black Friday sale so worth 5 stars.

    S-Tier Sound. Ears will rattle

So to preface, i have had the HW Q750B since earlier this year. I loved it and was blwin away for the sound it gave for the price. I believe i paid $650 for it or so. But i felt with my home theatre i building in my basement, it wasnt enough since the room was so large. I then decided to take a gamble on the highest tiered model available which was the 990C and let me tell you, I was completely floored by the power of that thing. The dolby atmos test alone had my wife and friend looking around the room for ceiling and wall speakers and were shocked when I said i did not insyall any. Overall, if you want a theatre sound without having building a custom set up for thousands, this is the way to go. Bonus if it can synce with a samsun tv, it just makes the use that much eaiser.

Well in 2001 we bought a Samsung 55” plasma $$$$$$ we were told that its life span would be around 9 years. We have moved two times with the plasma and never had a problem with the TV ( never ) then last week it bought the farm. We went to Best Buy to get a new Samsung and got the 65” OLED and this sound bar, man it was so easy to install and operate, the TV did all the heavy lifting. We watched our first Basketball game and I can honestly say we thought we were at the game live. The TV and Sound Bar combination is the only way to go. Everything we have purchased from Samsung has been worth the money, except the refrigerator, but I must say Samsung made sure we were taken care of. I am a Samsung Man and family.

Great sourround sound system. The sound bar has amazing clarity and the room adapting sound is phenomenal. The rear speakers are easy to hide, but the sound from them is very clear and procise. I did have to lower them closer to seating level to get the full experience from them, but they project the sound exceptionally well. The sub is not that loud, but it still has a great sound for our area. The sub is the only reason I gave this review 4 stars, but for most it would be 5 stars. We came from a great sounding Nakamichi, but it had a hard time staying connected and it burned through several HDMI cables as they only lasted about 6 months to a year regardless of brand.

      Hi Stang,

Thank you for taking a moment to review the Samsung HW-Q990C soundbar.

There are two adjustments that can be made to maximize bass from the soundbar and subwoofer:
      1. Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the level between -6 to +6. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.

      2. Adjust the bass control by pressing the TONE CONTROL button on the remote control, then select BASS to increase the level. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics.

I hope this helps. The sound is very good. Good base not great. Easy setup with the app with good adjustments and setting. Good improvement over my Samsung 750B surround sound with way more base then it had. I got a good deal around Christmas about half price, wouldn’t pay $1800 as nice as it is. Would recommend if you can get it on sale.

I think this a solid option for someone who knows they want to go the soundbar route. Everything sounded great, no connection issues, good bass, and the surrounds worked well. Easy to set up although there isn't much of a manual so find what you need mostly on YouTube. I don't think the soundstage was a wide as what I've heard with Bose and Sonos, however you get much more for your money at around $1,300 than you would with those other two. I did turn it up a times to get more dialogue volume. There is a phone app to play with settings. I think you could find something comparable through Vizio at much lower cost but Vizio probably won't do as well with sound placement (other than from left as right which again I don't think was a strong suite of this system.

What can i say ...this Soundbar will literally change your mind about owning a Soundbar . Sound is so crisp and bass is deep without being annoying. Solid Theater experience in medium to large family rooms . I paired my system with the new 65" Samsung Oled with Q-Symphony and its like being at the Theater only louder. 22 speakers with Q Symphony, A true Atmos Dolby Experience.

The sound is incredible! The Best Buy tech cranked it to 100 for my wife and I. We will NEVER listen to it that level! I thought my ears were going to start bleeding. I finally walked over and turned it down to about 30 (which is still pretty loud). One thing I noted at the high volume is that the sound was perfectly clear. No distortion, just pure volume. If you like it loud and don't have close neighbors this one is for you. I paired it with the Samsung - 85" Class QN900C Neo QLED 8K Smart Tizen TV. It's like being at the movie theatre. We spent quite a bit but we're retired and don't like going out a bunch. This is money well spent for us.

Bring the movie theater into your home! This sound bar is basically plug and play and ready to go in minutes. The movies are amazing. Oppenheimer was just as good as at the theater. Play Modern Warfare or Alan Wake 2 on the PS5 and tell me the sound isn't coming at you from every angle. The price is an investment for you and your family. I'm paring my soundbar up with my LG Cinebeam projector for a 130 inches of entertainment and the kids love it. The Trolls movies are practically on repeat. Don't wait just buy it.

I've been using soundbars for many years. A couple years back, I bought the JBL 9.1 system. It blew me away, especially the subwoofer, but I constantly had troubles with it. I wanted to love it, but after replacing the rear speakers 4 times and the whole system 3 times, I sent it back one last time for a full refund. I upgraded to the Q950a knowing it was a better system, but had a mediocre sub. Placing the sub directly behind my couch where I sit helped me forget how pathetic it was and I enjoyed the overall system. Fast forward to this holiday season, I got a bonus I wasn't expecting and decided to treat myself. It was either get a new TV or a soundbar. Both are good (Hisense u8g with Samsung Q950a) budget pieces of tech, but both have their downfalls that I always see/hear. It didn't take long to decide the soundbar was the bigger issue, mainly because of the lackluster sub performance. I wanted bass I could feel. So I did my usual thing and researched and read all the reviews and basically studied all of the current premium soundbar systems and decided the Q990c would fit me best. I hoped beyond hope that it was worth the upgrade, especially having never actually heard the system before purchasing. If I didn't like it, I'd return it. Well, I've still got it and I LOVE it! It's head and shoulders worth upgrading over the Q950a! The sub is actually strong and accurate. It's not overpowering, but it's not underpowered either (for my liking anyways, YMMV). AND, I've got the sub ACROSS THE ROOM instead of sitting right on top of it, and I can still feel it! It fills the room with bass that I did not have before! It's *almost* comparable to the JBL sub. As for the rest of the system, it is even louder and more clear than the Q950a. It's not just a sub upgrade, it's a complete overhaul. The whole system sounds amazing! I love the change from cloth and that they moved the display to the front. It sounds great no matter what's on the tv...sports, ps5 or xbox one x, streaming movies and music...it handles it all with ease and sounds phenomenal. I can't say enough how much I enjoy this system and how happy I am with it.

I did a lot of research on all kinds of sound bars. I ended up picking the Q990C because of the reviews and it built on top of the Q990B. When I first set it up, I was honestly just mildly impressed. It didn’t wow me as I expected, that was until I found the right movie with ATMOS sounds track. It honestly blew me away!! After some minor setup tweaks (and believe me, I do not have the best room setup/dimensions for surround sound) it really started impressing me. I have found my self several times now looking over my shoulder to see who dropped what in the house or where the sound is coming from!! I love this!! All I can say in addition is that you need the right streaming box / service to make sure you get Dolby Digital Plus / Atmos. (Like the NVidia Shield) Find the online manual and download it as the info in the box is bare minimal at best.

Great wireless speakers. They sound clarity and separation is awesome. While the soundbar can connect to the TV wirelessly, I opted to use an optical cable. The sub-woofer and satellite speakers connected automatically. The sub-woofer has good deep tones. As I have a recent Samsung TV, the soundbar enabled “Q” sound controlling the internal TV speakers as well. The soundbar also emphasizes voice over show/movie sounds so that you can hear what the actors are saying.

Love, love, love this sound bar!. We've always had a surround sound speakers. I was a little worried that this would not provide enough 'back' sound since we always had a 5 speaker surround before. But believe me, this actually provides better sound than any of my previous. I also like that it is wireless on the back speakers. Just plug into electricity and that's it. Simple set-up, just follow the directions on connections. It's a little pricey, but well worth it! Highly recommend!

The Samsung Q990C Dolby Atmos sound system is the best value Dolby Atmos system available. The system is very easy to set up and sounds amazing. Unlike single soundbars, this system includes rear speakers which also have Atmos speakers, along with a bass speaker that shakes the room! The main soundbar has 2 hdmi inputs and supports Dolby Vision pass through so you get the best quality HD picture when connecting your 4K player directly to the soundbar. Sounds fills the room and provides movie theater like sound.
