I was skeptical of a soundbar for use as my home theater at first. However, I was impressed enough at the store to try it. I have to say I am impressed. For my narrow finished basement entertainment room, it is perfect. Even not using the rear speakers I get a very full and deep 5-1 experience. Very happy with this product.

I orderedbthis product with the condition Open Box- Excellent and this is how it arrived. No original packaging, a giant dent on the top of the soundbar, scrapes on the side, chips of the side of the Subwoofer, and a giant gash in the back of it. I knew it was probably damaged based on the condition of the shipping box, but I still had some hope unyil I noticed there was absolutely no original packaging inside, just plastic bags and bubble wrap. I would not recommend this product.

Beware of buying "excellent" condition. My package came today with very little packing materials in it and items very dented, didn't hav the right cords with it either, I wouldn't even consider it in fair condition. Now I have to go to the store and return it within 15 days, pretty inconvenient

Soundbar that punches WAY above it’s weight class

So, before I continue, I should mention I bought this for $699 and Best Buy had a promotion where they threw in the SWA-9500S wireless rears for FREE. So I got the equivalent of about $1300 worth of soundbar for $699. Jaw…dropped….anyway, my review will be based on that purchase price and the subsequent free rears gifted with the purchase. Onto the review!!! ***DESIGN*** — Soundbar: To start, the soundbar is big, not HUGE, but big. I bought this alongside a 55” QN90B just now in the recent 2023 Labor Day sales and this soundbar is roughly a few inches short of being just as wide as the TV, so if you plan on putting this on a media console or a TV stand, it does need to be a quite wide one. You might want to keep the bar slightly in front of the TV as you do need room for the up-firing Atmos speakers. The bar itself comes with an Optical port (though…you shouldn’t use this at all truthfully), an HDMI In, and HDMI Out eARC port. You will want to invest in a high-quality HDMI 2.1 cable and ensure your TV is capable of handling eARC to handle the Dolby and DTS lossless codecs and to unlock Atmos functionality. Sadly, the HDMI In is only HDMI 2.0 so you will not get 4K 120Hz, VRR or ALLM if you connect a gaming console to it. — Sub: The sub isn’t nearly as large as I expected, but it’s quite heavy, and this is a GOOD thing. I love the fact it’s ported so the driver can punch very deep, and I also love that Samsung took advantage of the larger side profile of the sub and put the driver in a side-firing configuration. The driver is also 8” and covered in a cloth fabric which is fine for most people, but it may collect dust over time so keep that in mind. And yes, this sub is fully wireless! — Rears (NOT INCLUDED WITH BAR): The rears are quite hefty and a little bit weighty but don’t look too bad once put on surround stands. They can definitely get very loud once paired to the bar and each channel can be adjusted from the soundbar itself (the rears are both a rear channel and up-firing Atmos channel, 2.0.2!!!). To make it even better, the rears are TRUE wireless rears and do NOT need the wireless bridge with the speaker cable connection, these will connect directly to the soundbar and can be paired by triggering the bar’s ID Set feature when these are powering on. ***FEATURES*** I am pleased that the soundbar is very feature rich for having bought it at this price. This bar can be tweaked using the included remote, however you will get the most ease-of-use configuring the soundbar using the SmartThings app. From here, you can access all included features including a custom EQ (when in Standard mode), changing the speaker modes (Standard, Surround, Game, and Adaptive), among way more I’ll talk about now. SpaceFit sound is a feature where the bar uses a microphone that’s built into the Subwoofer to analyze the room dimensions and tweak the channel strengths to fit your room. Adaptive Voice Amplifier uses AI to boost up dialogue in movies and media and certainly helps to bring up voices while keeping most of the other sound relatively intact. Furthermore, you can adjust each channel individually within the app to further tailor your sound according to your room. In my room I have Center +4, Side +3, Rears +1, and the Front & Rear Top at +6 for maximum overhead sound bouncing. Combine this bar with Alexa and AirPlay 2, and this bar is certainly good enough to use for playback using any method you like. 8/10 ***SOUND*** So the sound on this is nothing short of fantastic for the price. For the best experience overall, I recommend Adaptive Sound profile for all content except music, I will use Standard for music and that’s how I will be basing this review. — Movies and Video: Dialogue is very crispy and clear, though the highs slightly roll off once you get past about 4kHz. The mids are strong and the lower mids in the bar are also quite nice. The side firing speakers on the bar certainly create the illusion of objects entering or exiting the sides of my room. There’s a scene in Star Wars The Force Awakens before Rey and Finn get in the Falcon and a speeder crashes off to the left, and I thought a crash actually happened outside of my window! The sub hits WAY above its weight class and will rattle your walls and floor if you crank it up though I don’t recommend that for longevity. In my room my sub sits at -2 because anything more and I will certainly upset the neighbors and my family. The Atmos speakers on the bar are just decent however because it feels like the effect is still coming from the front slightly rather than above. However if you pair this bar with the rears which have additional up-firing drivers, the Atmos effect DRAMATICALLY improves. The rears compliment the soundbar VERY nicely and are tuned equally with the speakers, and the Atmos up-firing drivers are strong and help balance out the bar. Try the scene from Spider-Man: No Way Home where the sky is breaking apart towards the end of the movie to truly experience a great use of Atmos. Using Q-Symphony with the QN90B believe it or not is QUITE nice and fills dialogue and other audio in the mid-range decently. It does make the sound slightly more boxy, so using it may be personal preference, personally I do enjoy it. — Music: For music, this bar is just okay. In Standard mode, the bar sounds a little bit dull and does require some lifting in the upper mids and the highs. Crowd sounds and vocals for live recordings do come out crispy with some EQ’ing, and the soundstage is certainly front-heavy and you don’t hear very wide stereo separation, however for most people this won’t be an issue. The bass isn’t very defined and sometimes can come off slightly muddy depending on the song however. Again though, my sub is placed in the corner which is the best spot overall for my room, if you can get your sub centered or more in the middle of the room you will get much better results. The sound quality of the bar overall is solid, it feels full in almost all frequencies (bass is quite strong), and though it isn’t the “cleanest” and most immersive sound system you can buy, you will definitely not be disappointed and especially not at this price where you will end up paying significantly more for a slightly elevated experience beyond what this bar can provide. ***CONS*** So there are only a few cons I can think of in this bar, one of them being Night Mode. I’m not sure what kind of compression Samsung uses on this bar but when Night Mode is turned on, you can kiss your low-end goodbye and your louder action sequences get completely squashed. It sucks the life out of whatever you’re watching and will rip you out of the experience. Using Reduce Loud Sounds is better if using an Apple TV 4K like myself, but it’s still recommended to keep the full dynamic range on at all times for the best experience. The LED screen on the soundbar is a joke, it is very difficult to read it because of the mesh design on the soundbar and because it’s such a small area. You’re much better off doing any adjustments with the SmartThings app then you are with the screen of the bar. Lastly, when paired with an Apple TV 4K (not sure about any other streaming devices), when using the Apple remote to adjust volume, the bar will display solely a “+” and a “-“ when adjusting the volume and NOT the numerical value of the current volume and you will not see a value displayed on the TV either (I have a QN90B). This isn’t that big of a deal for me however I would like to see the soundbar show you a number value instead of a + or - since that would definitely indicate how loud your bar is currently set so when you switch sources or change content your ears are not damaged from the sudden change in volume. ***FINAL THOUGHTS*** Overall this is a great package for an INCREDIBLE price in my case, to get a 7.1.4 Atmos system (with free gifted rears, otherwise it’s 5.1.2) that has good software, very good sound, is easy to use and pairs very easily with the QN90B and Apple TV 4K. It’s very much plug-and-play, however I strongly recommend tuning this to your room and updating your firmware using SmartThings for the best experience. You can’t go wrong with this bar, and unless you truly need more than 7.1.4, or a sub bigger than 8”, then there is no real need for purchasing a more expensive soundbar as you will definitely be satisfied with this bar. I HIGHLY recommend picking up the Rears and even more so if you can find them on sale, open box, or even free like in my case as it truly elevates the listening experience. This soundbar is perfect for 90% of the general public, and unless you’re an audiophile, you will be 100% satisfied with the performance of this bar, like I am. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Well worth the investment, especially if paired with a Samsung tv!

I initially had a Polk Sound bar with a wireless subwoofer which started to malfunction, the sound quality was mediocre and not as crisp. I upgraded to the samsung sound bar and it made a world of a difference, the sound quality is exceptional, the bass is more powerful and the sound is clear and crisp. Highly recommend this sound bar. Very happy with my purchase.

Great product! Very easy to set up. We put ours on the wall and it seems to have a better quality there than below the television. Happy I made this purchase as it has enriched our entertainment viewing. Fell in love with it at my son's house. He had purchased the same thing. Later the back speakers went on sale and I just absolutely had to purchase them which now gives us a complete surround sound effect. Love them!

I have experienced excellent volume and sound quality from this speaker and sub combo. The only issue I run into occasionally is the soundbar disconnecting from my tv however this is more likely an issue with high RF inteference in the area due to significant electrical equipment located directly behind the tv wall. Overall I am very happy with the purchase

Works amazingly! The bass was just what I was looking for having that ‘theatre style’ rumble when something big happens on screen with the bass boost turned on. The quality is top notch. This is a must buy if you are willing to pay the price. Action movies are a new level of action pact now. The app is easy to use and it was a fast setup.

Worth it!$! I was hesitant to spend the money on a higher end sound bar. Over the last 10 years I’ve purchased 3 entry level 3.1 Samsung sound bars and was satisfied with the sound, but I didn’t know what I was missing. I paired this 5.1 Dolby Atmos with a new 75” QN90B neo qled, couldn’t speak to any other combinations, however with my pairing, I was blown away by how much better the 5.1 Atmos is than the other 3.1 soundbars I’ve owned. The bass is far beyond any others, and the highs and low from the 5 other speakers exceeded my expectations by far! Bottom line, worth the extra money.

My wife and I love this soundbar. I paired it with the SA9500 rear surround speakers for the complete atmos/surround 7.1.4 system. I adjusted the settings and sound profile to my liking in the Samsung Smart things app, which is also very easy to use. Beware, it can get very loud! For this reason we keep the system on nightmode with bass boost and rarely need to increase the volume above level 25. Watching movies and daily tv watching is an amazing experience.
