Great Upgrade

The sound quailty is very comporable to me and I love the fact that I was able to get rid of the wires I had running all along my baseboards. Also the SmartThings App makes it easy to make adjustments to the soundbar without having to do it directly on it which can be annoying.

We are happy to help troubleshoot this issue of using one remote with your Samsung HW-Q800C Soundbar and TV.
If your soundbar is connected to your TV with either an optical cable or HDMI via ARC, you can control the volume and mute the soundbar using your Samsung TV's remote.
1) Use the TV remote to navigate to Settings, select Sound, and then select Sound Output on your Samsung TV.
2) Select your Samsung soundbar, and then select Close. Now you can use your TV remote to adjust volume and mute the soundbar. The soundbar should also turn on and off with the TV.
By default, Samsung TV remotes should be able to control Samsung soundbars. If it isn't working, be sure the soundbar is powered on, and then press and hold the WOOFER button up until "ON - TV REMOTE" appears on the display (about 5 seconds). Next, you'll need to choose between connecting with an optical cable or an HDMI cable.

Just not worth the money

Maybe for an apartment or small room it would've been nice for TV & movies, but it was also horrible for music. So it had to go. Also bass was pretty bad. I'd recommend going cheap or higher end when it comes to sound bars. I don't feel you get what you pay for in the mid-range stuff. Or just do what I eventually did after trying 3 soundbars, get true home theater system.
