Customers often highlight the SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart Plug's ease of use, compatibility with smart home systems like Alexa and Google, and its compact size. Many appreciate its affordability and the convenience of features like timers and voice control. However, some users experienced issues with connectivity and app compatibility, reporting difficulties with the device's online status and setup processes with certain apps. The overall experience appears to be positive for most, but potential app-related frustrations should be considered.

Fast and easy pairing, works with my SmartThings ap and google home. I'm able to use them in both home and office thanks top the google assistant. I control my office desk lights via the app and my goggle desk assistant. Works great. You can set schedules too. Easy to add a unique name based on whatever you need to call it.

A bit bulky for my taste but still does what it's suppose to. Love that you DON'T NEED A WIFI HUB to operate, just wifi.

Worked for 4 days then went offline :(

Much like Jeff's, mine stayed online for 4 days. I am building book shelving and storage in my new home. I wanted to back light the books to give a little more flare to the project. I installed strip lighting behind some molding but needed a switch to turn them on and off. So I decided to purchase this switch. I installed it and tied it into the Samsung Smartthings app. I then linked it to my Google Home. Very cool to say "Hey Google, Turn on bookshelf lighting" and the bookshelves would come to life. Sadly after 4 days the switch went offline. I have tried everything to get it back online with no luck. Note: this is my only Samsung device and I am using wifi to control it. Maybe a Samsung hub would help it stay online? Since it is my only Samsung device I am not willing to pay $70 just to get one smart switch working.

Thank you for your review of the SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart Plug. I am sorry to hear that the Smart Plug is not performing as it should. When a device acts up, one of the first troubleshooting steps we can take is to reset the device. For the Smart Plug, the device can be reset by simply pressing and holding the Power button for 5 seconds. After the reset, the light on the Smart Plug will blink green when it is ready to connect again. If this doesn’t work, or if you have further questions, please reach out to our SmartThings support team at 1-866-813-2404 for further assistance. We look forward to the opportunity to assist you in getting your Smart Plug back up and running! ~Samsung Brand Ambassador Samsung

=== The Review === The Samsung SmartThings Smart Wifi Plug is a simple yet highly functional component for a smart home. By plugging in lights, electronics, and small appliances to it, you can easily control the Power On and Power Off state from anywhere in the world. Installation is super simple. Plug in the Smart Plug into a wall outlet, wait for it to blink (pairing mode), launch the SmartThings app and click "Add device," and scan the QR code sticker inside the packaging. Now all you have to do is to plug in something to it. I chose to plug in my living room lights to it and I'm using the SmartThings app to automate when it turns on and off. Setting up an automation routine was also very easy. I clicked on "Add automation," "Smart Lighting," "New Lighting Automation," selected the Smart Wifi Plug as the device I want to control, and I told it to turn on at 5:30 AM and turn off at 6:15 AM Monday through Friday. I used the time trigger in the above example but there are numerous other triggers to choose from such as Motion, Open/Close, Lock, Button, At Sunrise/Sunset, etc. You can also voice control the Smart Wifi Plug via the Google Assistant after linking the SmartThings service into Google Home. If you have a Samsung phone, such as my Galaxy S10+, then the Bixby assistant can also be used for voice control. Super handy~! Google Home, like the SmartThings app, also offer automation controls (Google calls them Routines). Between the two, however, I prefer using the SmartThings app because I like its layout better & it's much easier & faster to set up automation commands (way less menus to jump through). Another cool functionality found inside the SmartThings app for the Smart Plug is the display of Energy Consumption and Power Meter. According to the app, my living room light has consumed 530.0 Wh of energy with 52.0 W of power. All in all, this is a smartly designed product that is easy to setup and start using right away. Highly recommended. _____ *Pros: -Very quick & simple installation. -Worked very well with both the SmartThings and the Google Home app. -Setting up automations/routines was very simple. -Voice control possible with Google Assistant and Samsung Bixby. -SmartThings app shows Energy Consumption and Power Meter. _____ *Cons: -None

    Plug Into Power Automation

----- Summary ----- Pros: - Controllable via app or voice - On/Off can be scheduled or automated - Compact design - Quick and easy setup Cons: - None ----- Review ----- Setup: In the box, you will find the SmartThings Wifi Smart Plug and the instruction/safety information. After downloading the SmartThings app, I attached the Smart Plug to an outlet in my living room that I use for accent lighting. An indicator light on the Smart Plug started blinking green, which means it is ready to pair. From there, I just used the SmartThings app and its easy on-screen instructions to pair the Smart Plug. Once complete, the indicator light changed to solid green for five seconds and then turned off. It was ready to go within a few minutes. I always appreciate a quick and easy setup process. Design: There are three prongs on the Smart Plug, so be aware that it will not work with two-prong outlets. The left side of the Smart Plug has an on/off button if you have a need to manually turn it on or off. There is also an LED light on the outlet that is primarily used for setup or troubleshooting. With its compact design, the Smart Plug does not obstruct the second outlet, and there is enough space for a second Smart Plug on the same outlet. Features: The Smart Plug enables a variety of different features that a standard wall outlet cannot provide. For example, the integration with the SmartThings app allows for automation or scheduling. Thanks to the Smart Plug, I have accent lighting that I can now turn on automatically at night. With SmartThings integration, the Smart Plug can be powered on or off in a variety of automatic ways, but even just being able to use the mobile app to turn it on or off is an added convenience. Previously, I had to reach behind my entertainment center and plug in the accent lighting. Now, it is always plugged in, but I can control when it is turned on or off automatically, on a schedule, in the SmartThings app, or by voice (Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa). I have found that all these features work flawlessly for me. Verdict: Looking to get more out of your outlets? Something seemingly as simple as an outlet can provide more than just power. After my positive experience with the Smart Plug, I plan to add more throughout my home to enable even more automation and convenience. I think this would be great for holiday decor lighting or turning on electronics, such as a TV. I would recommend giving one a try to see what a Smart Plug can do for you.

Easy to setup and make something "smart"

Was quick and easy to setup in the SmartThings app (just scan the barcode on the device and follow onscreen instructions on your phone). You can also set it up to control it with Google Home (and Alexa). Hey Google turn on "X" and whatever you have plugged into it will turn on. If you have a SmartThings Hub you can also setup routines and triggers. Example when you unlock the door with a smart lock (we have an August lock) or a smart senor like the SmartThings Camera and when it sees you at the front door it could then turn this on (great for turning on a lamp plugged into this etc.)

Decent Plug Hobbled by Its App

I own a few smart plugs by another brand so decided to try this SmartThings plug to see if I was missing anything. Overall the plug itself is fine. However, its use is hobbled by the Samsung SmartThings app on iOS. PROs • Compact size that does not block access to other outlets (see photos) • Monitors wattage consumption of whatever is plugged into it. • Does not require a hub (which is a good thing since the SmartThings hub I used was not stable) • On/Off indicator light on the plug is subtle; it does not shine like a beacon in the dark CONs • Horrible unintuitive SmartThings app by Samsung is needed to use it. You can’t even set a simple routine such as turning it off/on at specific times unless you set up two programs: one to turn it on and the another to turn it off. • No setting to vary on/off time randomly so as to appear someone is home walking around the house If you’ve bought into the SmartThings ecosystem already, then this plug makes sense as it can be programmed to work with other SmartThings devices. Otherwise, there are better options out there.

The best WiFi outlet for the money

Disclaimer - I received one of these in exchange for my fair and unbiased review. But - and I'm actually glad that something happened where that review didn't get published - this is the first product I've received that I liked enough to buy more of. In fact, I have 4 now and I'm planning on replacing my existing Kasa and CNCT plugs with these in the future. The Samsung SmartThings WiFi outlet is easily the best WiFi outlet on the market for the money. I own a few different competing brands and you either pay more for the same feature set, you pay about the same price for less features, or you pay less for something difficult to configure and constantly losing features. So the big positive on this plug is it covers everything I need out of a WiFi outlet. You have easy setup, the ability to play well with WiFi mesh systems (I have Plume and had zero issues with connectivity so far), small size, a watt meter and energy usage monitoring (it keeps track of watt-hours used and shows you what the wattage draw is with frequent updates), Google and Alexa connectivity (not sure about Bixby since I don't have Samsung phones, watches, tablets, TVs, refrigerators, or connected speakers, but SmartThings should work with Bixby), IFTTT is mentioned (I didn't test it, however), support for devices using up to 15 amps (1800 watts), good range, and an easy-to-use app. The only negative I can think of for this plug is I keep finding more uses for it. All in all, if you're looking for a smartplug and you don't care what brand it is because price is a higher consideration than brand, Samsung SmartThings WiFi Plug is the absolute go-to in this regard.

These plugs are great. The Samsung phone app makes it easy to find your new devices and get them synced up to your phone. The only drawback, and one I still don't understand, is if your internet goes down but you are still in the house connected to your router, you can't turn the plugs on or off. So no internet, even while you are in the house, means you can't access your Samsung smart devices.

This is my fourth plug. I use them all for lamps in my kitchen, living room and bed rooms. I love that I can turn on lights in my home if I'm arriving home late or not coming home at all. I had to change internet routers and resetting these up were a breeze as well. I like the options to use this with the Samsung Things App and with the Alexa App. I am completely happy and satisfied with this product.

Very easy to setup and was found immediately by my SmartThings hub and Echo. I have a floor lamp connected to it. My only complaint is if I have the lamp on for longer than an hour, the SmartThings app will show that the plug is off, but the lamp is still on. So, to turn off the lamp via the app, I have to turn it “on” again to turn it off. But it turns off with Alexa with no problems.

I originally purchased these to replace a non-supported smart plug. However these things worked perfect right out of the box. Set up was easy and straightforward and require no additional steps. They work great with Google. I highly recommend these smart receptacles if you're in the market for such an item.

I like that it is smaller than the previous generation Samsung outlets but I've had some issues with them being disconnected often in places where the previous ones never had a problem. Not sure if it's an update issue that will be addressed in the future or not.

I went to Best Buy to pick up a couple of smart Plugs that could work through the Amazon app. These work perfectly and were easy to set up on the Wi-Fi. The power cords on the lamps have toggle switches, so now it is just a simple command to turn them on instead of finding the cords behind the tables to turn them on. Absolutely perfect for what I needed.

Great outlet plug for any devices. I have it connected to my A/C in my bedroom and I am able to turn it on and off when I'm away from home. Nice to have the bedroom/house already cool before you get home. Small device, so it doesn't really clutter your outlet as much. For the price it's worth it and good to own if you already in the Samsung universe.

We had to replace our Insignia plugs (as they stopped supporting the phone app) so found these Samsungs to be a great option. Very easy to set up from your smartphone and they've worked great so far. The light on the unit is very small and isn't on when the lights are off. Good feature. Pricing is very good compared to the competition.

Works with alexa as well so that is an added bonus. Have control over devices, lamps, fans, audio no matter where you are.!
