Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart Plug's ease of use, compatibility with smart home systems like Alexa and Google, and its compact size. Many appreciate its affordability and the convenience of features like timers and voice control. However, some users experienced issues with connectivity and app compatibility, reporting difficulties with the device's online status and setup processes with certain apps. The overall experience appears to be positive for most, but potential app-related frustrations should be considered.

Know how much energy your devices are using!
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got these to monitor energy usage on a few of my mining rigs to know how much power I'm using and where I can fine tune things to make them more energy efficient. They do the job and offer energy monitoring features which if it didn't have that I would not have bought them.

Easy to use
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works with Proprietary Samsung software first, then it connects with Google Home as well. I found it not very easy when moving the device to new connection. Had some issues in there.

Simple to set up
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The plug was easy to install and connect. I have had some problems with my home network, and reconnecting it to my replacement routers has been a simple process. It turns my lamp on and off, and it works with my smart home system. Exactly what I wanted for a great price.

Great Best Buy price.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought eight of these to control all the Christmas lights inside the house. I had no issues all season. The only down side is when adding Smartthing devices you have to figure out which Smarththings app to use New or Classic.

I really wanted to use this
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm sure it's a great device, but I tried 5-6 times to get it connected to my network without success. Looks like it's well built, but can't attest to it's functionality.

Not ideal if you're using the Classic app
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a multiple devices connected to SmartThings and still use the Classic app (can't switch to the new app to devices not being supported). This plug cannot be set up using the classic app - I had to download the new app. While it shows up in the classic app, I can't control it - it will turn off, but the status doesn't update and can't turn it back on. While the device supports energy monitoring in the new app, this isn't supported in the Classic app. I should have bought a ZigBee or Z-wave plug instead of this one.

Posted .Thank you for your review of the SmartThings Smart Plug, neod192! We are continually working to improve our SmartThings products, and feedback like this helps us in that process. While the Smart Plug does require the new SmartThings App for set up, once connected you can control the device from the Classic app. Since you are experiencing difficulties with the status updating in the Classic app, you may want to reset the device and reconnect in the new SmartThings App to see if that resolves the issue. You can find the steps to reset and reconnect the Smart Plug on our Support page here -- https://support.smartthings.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029964431. If that does not help, or if you have additional questions, please reach out to our dedicated SmartThings team at 1-866-813-2404 or [email protected]. Thank you! ~Samsung Brand Ambassador

Concept is fantastic, performance is good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This technology is fantastic and it works very nicely. I just found that the activation and the programming was a bit touchy. The directions are not totally clear and the steps not in the correct order when programming.

Seems good, but...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used SmartThings in two homes for several years and they need to improve their usability. We should not need to rely on some random person to create a lock manager to be able to control a smart lock. It is a stupid lock without apps that allow that functionality. Forget a smart plug.... i don't care if I can create a smart plug action that can turn on a light when the door unlocks. If I can't put in codes or lock/unlock the door remotely, who cares.

Very good!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well with the samsung app. Also exceptionally well with the google home app and the speaker device. No need to have a smart speaker. The smartThings app from samsung can work simultaneously with the google home app. Very well made smart plug

Convenient!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great to be able to turn devices on and off when not at home, or even just to check if the outlet is on. Being able to monitor power usage is a bonus! Doesn’t require a hub, just a WiFi connection.

Works Reliably
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This SmartThings Wi-Fi smart plug has so far never lost connection to the network. It is being used with the SmartThings hub and the plug remotely controls turning on and off a window air-conditioner. Works great.

Linked with motion sensor to garage lighting
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Linked motion sensor to activate Wi-Fi SmartPlug to turn on garage lighting. Now lighting turns on when entering garage to auto-shutoff following five minutes of zero motion. No complications, very dependable and happy with auto lighting controls provided.

Works well for Wi-Fi
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I prefer ziggbee As it has its own mesh network and doesn’t fail when Wi-Fi or internet fails. SmartThings makes two versions. The ziggbee version is 10$ more This model was the only one I could purchase locally . This does work well.

Total garbage. Works for minutes, then does not ..
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We tried with both an iPhone and an Android phone. You can set it up easily, but then in a day or two it no longer works. It always says its offline. Very disappointed. Save yourself the trouble and buy something else.

Convenient
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do smart plugs come in handy for everything. I love the fact that I can just plug them around the house and just control everything from my phone. I love being able to have that access even when I'm not around.

Great replacement for the Insignia smart plugs
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A very bright Best Buy associate assisted me in finding these plugs. I downloaded the app and went through setup and they worked great. If you are faced with the November drop dead date for the Insignia Smart Plugs this is the way to go.

Works great and I love the power meter
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well and the power metering function was great for seeing how much power my christmas lights used this year. I was able to use these as timers for my christmas tree as well as for some of my outside lights via an extension cord.

Works well, 100% of the time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this because it is almost identical to the Amazon Smart Plug that is currently $7 more. I was having issues with the Amazon plug constantly dropping off my wifi network, and happily the SmartThings plug does not have this issue.
