Purchased for backups for a mac mini after looking at all the reviews on wire cutter. Made sure to format it for time machine with Mac OS extended (journaled) and GUID portion map scheme. It works great and is so much faster than my old drive. With my older model, was happy to see that the adapter cord for USB was included. Like the small LED light on it so I know when backups are occurring.

Works great, took a minute to format. My deal, I encrypted on one of my Mac's and tried to use it on another and it came up with only 43MB storage. I un-encrypted on the original Mac and that fixed the issue. Works great, speedy and a value purchase from Best Buy!

Simply fast and quiet. The best External hard drive I’ve owned. Works very well with my Blackmagic 4K camera.

Bought this for PS5 until Sony releases their own internal SSD expansion. Works perfectly to store PS4 games. Super quick to load and I just hide it behind my PS5.

OMG, guys! The Samsung T5 1TB External USB Type C Portable SSD in Deep Black is like, the coolest thing ever. It's super small and light, so it's totally easy to carry around everywhere, and it's deep black, so it looks really sleek and awesome. It's not just about looks, though. This thing is FAST. It has this thing called a USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-C) interface - I don't know exactly what it means, but I know it's super quick. Transferring big files like my favorite movies or games is a piece of cake, and it doesn't even break a sweat when I want to run a game directly from the drive. The storage is ginormous - 1TB! That's like a thousand GBs. I can dump all my favorite songs, videos, games, and tons of other stuff, and there's still room for more. Plus, it's got this thing called password protection and AES 256-bit hardware encryption (sounds like something from a spy movie, right?), so all my stuff stays totally safe and private. Also, this thing is tough! It's shock-resistant up to 2 meters - so even if I accidentally drop it (which I never do, of course), it can handle it. Plus, Samsung gives a 3-year warranty, which is cool. So, in short, the Samsung T5 1TB External USB Type C Portable SSD in Deep Black is the bomb! It's got tons of storage, it's super fast, and it looks awesome. Totally worth every penny! If you need more space for your stuff, you've gotta get this one. It's the best, period!

The drive does get very warm during large downloads. Not hot but warm. The down load speed also seemed to go slower as the drive heated up. The drive is very light. The cable is almost heavier than the SSD. Did a test with a Toshiba 2 TB USB 3 disk drive using USB 3 ports on my computer. Transferred 130 GB from a test transfer folder on my computer SSD. it took about 32 minutes. The Samsung connected via USB C SSD took 11 minutes to transfer the same files from the same folder. So it is almost 3 times faster. Transferred the same file from the disk drives back to my computer. The Toshiba took 92 minutes. The Samsung SSD took 15 minutes. Paid about $250 at best buy for the drive.

Incredibly fast, very reliable and fits in your pocket. I currently have 2 T5 and 1 T7 and it’s never let me down.

It's small and light enough to carry in your shirt pocket. If you haven't used it for a few minutes, there is no spin up time as with a HD. If you drop it, no problem since it is all solid state with no fragile heads nor platters to ding or damage. At 1 TB it has plenty of storage for most of your portable needs. Unlike some SSD's it has a LED that lets you know that its connected and when it is being accessed -- I like that. I've read that the Samsung utility that you are instructed to download has issues but I took a pass on that and threw away the s/w that was on the drive. I do this with HD's too and have never had any regrets. The drop in prices this year make it a good buy. As with most electronics, it will be even less expensive next year but I decided it was time to buy and am glad I did.

This drive is amazing. Compact; fast and reliable. Hard to believe it packs so much capacity. I now have 3 of these. For anybody who wants external storage in a very portable package, look no further.

This has been a great little drive, mostly used for work backups. It’s tiny and lightweight and fast — a nice break from the big old school hard drives I’m used to lugging around.

After googling for the owner's manual for this product, finding it. printing it, it made using this product a lot easier & made more sense!! Had to really read carefully thru the owner's manual and then understood why so many people gave negative feed back on forum for this product because the info included with this product was of very little help, you really need the owner's manual, or at least I sure did!! Without the owner's manual, I too would have given a negative review! However, this product was worth the money and performed as it was intended. Had no issues using on two different laptops, the product is small but powerful, looks cool too!! Storage space is amazing. I got plenty of space left after already saving a bunch of data to this product and this product is exceptional at transferring files between laptops!! Four stars as a review for this product is due to the absence of the owner's manual being included with the purchase of this product!

Great Samsung design, but even better is the fact that you can travel with this drive and won't have to worry about your data getting trashed by jostling around enroute. I no longer carry disk-based hard drives with me on international film trips; these babies house all photos and video; they are solid, dependable, FAST, and tiny. What's not to like?
