This external USB device is not only small and compact, it is durable, fast, and light weight. It has a premium build to it, the cables it comes with are USB C to USB C and then regular USB 3.0 to USB C which is always handy. I use it daily when I go to school and it makes it a breeze to pull up files no matter which computer I go to. It eliminates my needs for having to bring my own laptop which is a big plus.

The Samsung portable external SSD model T5 (1TB, USB 3.1 Type C), is easy to use. I unpacked it, plugged in the supplied USB Type C cable and connected it a USB 3.0 port on my XBox One X. The XBox verified how I wanted to use this newly attached external storage device and then formatted it appropriately. I transferred my largest, most-used games over to the T5 and noticed that they launched faster and felt more... responsive? The size and weight of this thing are negligible. It's thinner than a pencil and has a footprint about the size of a pack of cards. Plug it into your device then Command Strip it to the side or back and you can forget about it until it's time to upgrade again :) The thing with these kinds of upgrades is that the beauty is in the eye(stalks) of the beholder. What I mean is that I noticed a quality of life improving savings of several seconds when I load a favorite game from this external drive, but someone else may not notice that. In any case, YMMV!

First time purchasing an external solid state drive. Was not disappointed. It’s so small and compact compared to a standard hard drive. Much faster download and upload speeds. Works and looks great. Tiny downside is it does get hot after using for awhile, but not a big deal.

Fast, small, light, physically attractive, with all-metal construction. Works flawlessly. Used almost daily for backups. Purchased this to do a clone backup of a MacBook Pro 1 TB internal ssd that was 95% utilized. Backups on magnetic HD were taking too long and becoming less frequent due to time it took. Formatted as APFS, the ssd worked flawlessly and fast. Reduced time of backup to less than 1 hour - compared to 4.75 hours on a usb3.1 gen 2 HD!!! Tested bootable backup with no issues. Full backups are now being performed more frequently (almost daily) due to the low effort and time. Since it’s a clone backup, it provides a speedy recovery of the entire o/s and data in case of corruption (or ransomware) of the internal ssd. Did not bother with the Samsung supplied utility for encryption - don’t trust it. Made encrypted backup with whole disk encryption for protection against physical loss of ssd. Provides peace of mind for good value in today’s world of high speed devices. Very Highly Recommended - 5 stars.

This HD is very small in size but not in small in performance. It is extremely fast especially using the USB-C to USB-C cable to transfer files.

Very small, extremely portable, and super efficient. Sometimes I forget the drive is plugged in because it’s so inconspicuous. 1TB isn’t gonna hold your entire media collection, but it’s great for school.

Such a small package, and it's metal too. Comes with all the cables one would need. Setup was simple, and off we go. I had another brand that was way more of an elongated rectangle, and got really hot just being plugged in. Not this little guy. Cool to the touch, and a perfect size. When packing, why carry something that is bigger than it has to be? Oh, and the bigger sized one did not have any lights on it. This drive has a small LED to tell if it's active to stop from unplugging it while it's busy. And the included cables (USB-C to USB-C, and USB-3 to USB-C) are longer than most other external drives I've used. I've had some where the cable is just way too short. Best small SSD drive I've had. Hands down. I'm glad I bought this.

Using this drive to store camera footage in my Tesla. It's perfect size to discreetly hide away in the center console, but packs huge storage capacity at 1TB. Super fast and reliable SSD.

This is my go to hard drive. Easy, reliable, fast and small. dont have to worry about it when traveling or shipping. Love curbside pickup and same day delivery. Two thumbs.

I liked this SSD a lot. It is small enough to carry around everywhere, and has enough space for all my files. It was extremely fast, and transferred several GBs in a few seconds, so it really does seem to reach the advertised speeds of 0.5GB per second. The cons are that the battery of the laptop drains more quickly, and it gets a bit warm during use, thus it is not as power efficient as I may like. The SSD is a bit expensive, though not more than other SSDs with a similar capacity.

I love this drive! I use this drive as my primary device for recording footage on my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. I have a small rig and attach it to the top. I never use the SD card slot because this is so much easier to transfer footage from also. I can plug it directly into my laptop after via USB-C to transfer footage when I’m don’t shooting. The only problem I have had with it is once I have a lot of footage recorded onto it and have not formatted it, my BMPCC4K takes longer to recognize the device. But other than that, this is the best SSD I could find!

This drive is simply the best drive you can get for your desktop computer. It's as simple as any other storage device; you plug it in and you're good to go. The prices are quite reasonable as the speed and storage closely aligns the SATA internal Samsung drives, as long as you're using the included C to C cable on a supported USB C port. I'm easily reaching the max 500+ mb/s! Works wonderfully in my Premiere workflow too - 4k media loads without a hitch on this drive, so I'm easily able to edit the same files on my desktop and laptop. This is the drive to go for if you're looking for speed!

This drive is super fast and has plenty of storage. I love how small it is, too! I highly recommend this for video and photos especially. The size makes it extremely portable. It will fit in a shirt pocket!

This T5 SSD is wonderful! It has some great speeds that was able to backup my main 1tb HDD from laptop to this in under 30mins (granted the HDD wasn't full) it definitely does the trick when you want reliable storage from a great brand! It worked amazing on my Android phone as well as TV, it does however get a little warm when doing large transfers but nonetheless it's phenomenal. I also don't recommend by any means of course but this beast can take a beating, daughter dropped it few times and still worked great.

Great durability, great quality, nice color and very easy to carry-on with you. I normally buy them at sale and use them for my personal photos, studio photos, work etc.

I purchased this ssd for size of storage and dimension. This unit is backing up and preserving all my stuff. Compact, fast, secure. Just what I require.

Nice price point for the size and quality. Best Buy was great about shipping it promptly and safely. Truly impressive how lightweight and compact it feels compared to HDDs i've previously used. Good size and feel, very portable. Highly recommend making an investment in an external SSD over a HDD at this point, if you can afford it. Feels like the price has come down to a generally accessible point where the SSDs are worth it. Will update this review in the future if I have any problems or positive experiences to share as I actually transfer data and work off of it in the coming months.

When i was at the store deciding if i should purchase this one or the WD product, I thought i needed to break ranks and buy one of the samsung ones for good measure. I can officially say I’m glad i did. As a truck driver and investor i need to be able to constantly access either my movies and tv shows when I’m on the road or the balance sheet data such as an 8-k or 10-k about the company I’m interested in or have purchases shares of. Pros: This thing is lightning fast. Considering i have a MacBook Pro 15in (2017) model and use USB-C i can transfer some serious data in record time. Now the biggest test i gave this thing was the transfer of 600GB worth of data from on hard drive to another. (The other WD is not an SSD) Now i will admit will it did take about an hour and a half it still exceeded my expectations. I have heard if you have USB 3.1 GEN2 this will transfer @540mb/s now since this MacBook has no USB i simply used the USB-C NO MOVING PARTS. So if you where to say accidentally drop this chances are it still going to work but still be careful. The size: The size of the SSD is almost the exact width of an iPhone 8+ and not even close to half the height so its smaller far more portable easily fitting into your pocket. Comes with a standard USB cable and USB-C cable so that’s a plus for anyone wishing to purchase this if the dont have a MAC Con: The price is still far beyond what one would expect. Personally this should be $149 not $249 I would like to also note that you would figure for the price of the product it would either have far more memory or or at least a transfer rate of 1 gb/s but as i said for what it is. This IS a very good SSD

This drive is a nice small drive that is very portable. It has a large capacity and it is very fast. I use it to back up computers and to transfer files from home to work.
