Works well with Mac Book Pro. Old laptop had USB-A; new one has USB-C. Worked well with both -- it includes both cables. The speed is sensational compared to a thumb drive. There may be cheaper options out there, but this one works great for me. It's about the size of a stack of 5 credit cards. Only issue -- it gets quite hot. This may be as designed, but just be aware where you place it when in use.

Let's start with the obvious, this Samsung SSD is small - it's smaller and even thinner than my wallet. If you had told me a few years back that I would no longer need to carry my brick SSD's I'd thought that you'd be pulling my chain.
I'm always super impressed with how Samsung designed the new SSD series - making it not only super portable but also sleek in color. I already own a ton of gray/black items so the red really popped and helped me locate my SSD in a pinch.
The T7 is also super easy to use, just plug in and go. It comes with two cables: USB C to USB C, and USB C to A, incase you have the older computers. You have the ability to set a password incase you are traveling with it using Samsung's software, which might be the only downside if you're planning on using it across several devices. But that's just a minor inconvenience.
The connection is instant and smooth - especially across different devices. I usually use mine between my iPad Pro and Macbook pro when uploading and downloading files. Depending on your file size and type, transferring files can take seconds or minutes, no longer is it taking me hours just to move a few heavier files.
With school starting this month, I cannot recommend the T7 enough to students and teachers. I'd give this a A+.

**5-Star Review for Samsung T7 1TB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD**
I recently purchased the Samsung T7 1TB External USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD, and I couldn't be more impressed! Here are a few reasons why I’m giving it a five-star rating:
1. **Incredible Speed**: With read speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and write speeds of 1000 MB/s, transferring large files has never been faster. It significantly cuts down the time I used to spend waiting for backups and file transfers.
2. **Compact and Durable Design**: The sleek, lightweight design makes it easy to carry around in my bag. Plus, the aluminum body feels sturdy and is resistant to shocks, which gives me peace of mind when I'm on the go.
3. **User-friendly Setup**: Setting up the T7 was a breeze. It was recognized instantly by both my Windows and Mac systems, and I didn't need to deal with any complicated installations or formatting.
4. **Security Features**: I appreciate the built-in password protection and AES 256-bit encryption. It adds an extra layer of security for my sensitive data, which is essential in today’s digital world.
5. **Versatile Compatibility**: The T7 works seamlessly across various devices, including PCs, Macs, and even gaming consoles. It’s perfect for storing games, media, and important files without worrying about running out of space.
Overall, the Samsung T7 1TB External SSD is a fantastic investment for anyone looking for speed, portability, and reliability. Highly recommended!

The Samsung T7 is a great portable storage solution that is tiny, super fast, lightweight and most of all secure. But it isn't a drive that everyone can use; you have to have a USB 3.2 version port as well as the corresponding connector to really take advantage of the high speed transfer rates. I am lucky because I recently upgraded my desktop to a new Dell PC (which I bought from BB of course!) that included both 3.2 support and the high speed port connection on the front. You need to check your device(s) to make sure that you can use this, otherwise it would make more sense - both functionally and financially - to buy one of Samsung's previous versions.
However, if you have the ports the transfer speeds are incredible. And it's hard to see from product pics just how tiny and compact this drive really is, so I included some pics with everyday common objects to provide a sense of scale. The size and durable case makes this easy to throw in a briefcase, purse or backpack. Or for that matter your pocket! And with the included and easy to use build in encryption, you know that your data is safe; something to consider if you carry sensitive data between locations. It's lighter than most phones and because it is a solid state drive, you don't have to worry about dropping it. Pretty impressive, especially for the price. The only reason I gave it a good rating instead of an excellent one is that if you don't have 3.2 ports, you'll be paying more for a drive that will only provide average performance speeds.

Excellent unit. Connects easily to all my devices including Android phones, tablets, desktop Windows computers, and my laptop. Use it to transfer large video and audio digital content between them all. Speeds are very good. Device is small and easy to transport. Highly recommended.

This is my 3rd T7 and I love them. They're super quick and convenient. No glitches, no issues, gets the job done every time and has plenty of storage. Like I said I have 3 for 3 different purposes and I still haven't used up all the storage.

I recently bought this drive, and it has been a huge help for my work. It’s incredibly fast, lightweight, and easy to use. I mainly use it to save all my files and projects, and it has really helped me offload a lot of storage from my laptop. Now my laptop runs smoother, and I have peace of mind knowing my important work is safely backed up. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for reliable, portable storage.

So small it gets lost on the desk. Gets hot sometimes. Super fast file transfers with MacMini M4. Could just plug into the back of the Mini with the right adapter, and hang there.

Fast, small and easy to use. My main reason for buying this SAMSUNG SSD was the hardware encryption. In other brands that I bought before, I have hard time making the encryption to work smoothly. This SSD has a software easy to use and it works just great. Fast reading speeds, and small in size, very portable.

Works great on 2020 iMac. I use it to run Windows 10 (via Bootcamp) and it runs quickly. There are online videos on how to install Windows on an external drive. It does get a bit warm so I keep the drive placed flat on the desk to help transfer the heat. Size is compact and feels like a solid product.

What a great 'little' external drive! It's being used to backup a laptop and WOW! What used to take several hours was done in less than 30 minutes! Crazy fast! No bigger than a thick credit card, it's small enough to carry in a pocket or in a drawer! Perfect for my needs!

It's amazing how things get smaller. I have an external hard drive from a few years ago that has a 500gb capacity and this is double that at 1tb but a third of the size. Plus it's Samsung which is always a great product. From TV's to this device Samsung has never let me down. Easy to load, small and convenient- it's great, highly recommended!

This thing is amazing ! It is small and doesn’t take up much room on my desk and it’s easily connected through my usb port. Plus the storage space is all I could ever need and more for my gaming needs! Definitely would recommend it and if I ever need more storage in the future this is the first thing I would look for.

The most impressive speed-up for an older system is an SSD drive! They are wicked awesome fast compared to an HD disk.
This one is very small. Not much bigger than a short stack of business cards. My only concern is when I run it if it lies on, or worse under, a blanket; it runs pretty dam hot. When you think about how small the chips are way down inside this thing, they have to be really, really much hotter, and heat is not a good thing for semiconductors. Historically semiconductors fail in the first 90-120 days or so. After that, they go on to outlive the person who bought them, so running it between a couple of blankets might be a way to eliminate infant mortality within the warranty period.
Works fine. Lasts a long time. Won't rust. Won't bust. It's a product you can trust.

For its speed and size, this is really well priced. The capacity is big enough to handle just about any video shoot I've thrown at it. And is fast enough to both be directly recorded to from the camera and then turn around and edit all of that footage straight off of the drive with no lag or stutter at all. At least when plugged into USB 3.1 ports and higher. Its also incredible how light and compact it is despite being able to handle that kind of work load.
I really appreciate that both a USB C to A and a C to C cable were included, as more and more thin laptops are coming with only Type C ports this allows compatability with a broad range of devices to work with. Including my smartphone.
I guess my only nitpick about it is that the external casing could be a bit more protective. But a hardshell case for these things is not expensive and will likely do a better job of keeping it safe anyway. So thats really not a big deal at all.

Very good product, found it for $80 and has been durable and fast so far. I use it for gaming and I have about the same speeds that in my internal disk, so it's a good deal so far. Plus it comes with the Samsung software that tells you things like temperature.

Needed a quick and easy way to dump LOTS of videos into storage to give my phone more space. This was super easy plug and play and has ample space to hold everything and more for the future. Decently priced as well. Encryption is straight forward and a much appreciated feature.
I also appreciate the compact size.
Bought for PS5, even faster than internal storage!

I bought the specifically for my PS5 since Sony was very generous with the 800GB they gave to use at launch....lol
This adds a full 1TB since there is no "system files" or chunk of storage reserved, which is what the PS5 needs/does with it's internal storage.
I was skeptical since the PS5 was having issues with external storages drives with a handful of systems, but wow I must tell you - I'm shocked how FAST this thing performs. No joke, games pulled from this SSD seem to load faster that when they were on the internal drive!
I transferred all my PS4 games onto this is a matter of minutes, when it took over an hour to transfer to the PS5 initially! This thing is super small which is nice. I already have too many games I'm in the middle of and couldn't load up some of the PS5 games I bought - now I have plenty of room for awhile and shouldn't have a storage issue.
I was iffy about spending this much on PS5 storage but absolutely glad I did! Got it on sale for $160 and would recommend to anyone needing more gaming storage!
