Love this little thing. Super ez to setup and do not need to remember a password now. Quick file transfers. No complaints so far.

I am afraid of the tough things. One day it will stop working and your data will not be accessible.

Yes the fingerprint reader is nice, but for how expensive this 1TB hard drive is, its nothing special. There's still a password tied to the device, so its not really adding much security if any at all. Plugging it in you need to run a program from your computer and a window opens up that needs to remain open while you use the device, and disconnecting it is a PITA, I feel like I'm going to mess up the encryption and lose everything on it every time I go to disconnect the device. Would not recommend and I'm going to try to return it. I usually love samsung but this product was kind of a flop.

First off, I really like the size of this device given the capacity and the built in security features. Upload and download speeds to the device all seem great and everything you’d expect from a storage device. The big differentiator here is the security features. This has a built-in fingerprint scanner and software to let you use a pin code if needed. This is where I felt it lost a star. The device has a partition on it and it essentially uses a dedicate section of the drive to boot to when you first try to use it. This runs the security functions. Ideally the fingerprint scanner will unlock the device without having to download any software to unlock the drive. If the fingerprint scanner isn’t working for whatever reason, then the drive comes with a few programs on it that you can download to your device to use a pin to get into the drive. You can also go online and download the newest versions. Both methods worked for the most part, but the fingerprint scanner is not very accurate. It only works for me about half the time. The computer I use the most has the unlock program on it so its pretty easy to just type in the pin if the fingerprint scanner doesn’t work. Also the fingerprint scanner can take a long time to register and work. If I do it immediately and then have time to wait until I want to access the drive, then everything is fine. But it can be irritating to have to wait to get to your stuff if you’re in a hurry. This is just a natural consequence of having the additional security, so it doesn’t lose a star for this. However, if you don’t really need the security but figure ‘hey jee wiz why not add a little security’ you may get very annoyed, very quickly. The drive can also sometimes get quirky trying to work with a cell phone. When it switches from the protection mode that only gives you access to the portion of the partition that has the downloads for the unlock program, and the portion that contains your actual files, it sends signals to your computer that the drive has been disconnected then reconnected as a new drive. My computer handles this just fine. My phone will give me the pop-up to ask what to do with the new file each disconnect. If I’m not fast enough to select the right option it will put it to a different mode that doesn’t give me access to the drive. Then when I reset the mode on my phone, it sends a disconnect/reconnect signal to the drive which restarts the whole security/unlock process on the drive. I understand this has to do with the settings on my phone as well and my preferences on how my phone deals with new drives plugged into it, so it doesn’t lose a star for this, but again if you don’t really need the security features and you will have the same issues as me you may be better off saving your money and getting a regular flash drive. Overall, this is a very good drive with some useful security features if that is something you need. The security can get a bit irritating and isn’t perfect so if it is not something you need, then save your money and get a drive without those extra features.

The drive was fat but for some reason wasn’t able to write 4K or 6k video from my Blackmagic Pocket 6k. Extrely choppy unusable video. Stick with the T5 for that.

I have plenty of memory now I'm sure never have a problem downloading all my photos
