Fast, pocket sized and secure drive I replaced a T5 with this one. Use it with my iPad Pro. The T5 also has password protection, but software based. So I cant unlock it with my iPad. This covered my requirements, fast, high capacity, and secure. I just connect unlock with a fingerprint and its recognized by my devices. My only concern is that it heats up really fast when I am transferring a lot of files. That’s why I didn’t gave it 5 stars. But so far the drive hasn’t failed or crashed because of the heat.

These rated speeds mean nothing unless you have a computer with USB 3.2 ports, none of my newer computers have them. My Dell G3 laptop speeds with the hard drive connected to the USB-C port are no faster than my Samsung T5 hard drive. See the screen shots attached. Connected to my Dell Inspiron it faired a bit better. Not complaining since these speeds are more than enough to get by with. This device is a lot sturdier (better build quality and shock resistance) than the T5. It is a bit longer and thinner than the T5 but it’s still very compact. Security features are enabled via a master password and then are allowed to enable the fingerprint. If you forget this password, you are out of luck. Not sure the added cost of this device compared to the T5 is worth it, unless you value the security features and have the compatible ports, it might be worth it to you.

This is a great SSD to get. About the size of a credit card with great great security features! Very fast and also very easy to take anywhere!

Super fast transfer speeds. compact size. Wish it came with a carrying case tho I found one on Amazon

Great portable product by samsung. Light weight and fast

Big fan of this little device. I am an educator and a yoga teacher so I need lots of storage for lesson planning, resources, and recordings. I also wanted something that could handle a little knocking around, I'm relatively clumsy. I really like the finger scanner as it makes the security factor simple and quick.

I like this samsung ssd so much I got a second one. It is great as expected. Fast and easy to use. Just works. I lost data on other back up drives before, so I need a second SSD in addition to cloud storage.

This is the fastest external hard drive I've ever owned! The fingerprint reader works flawlessly. I have two complaints though. #1. You HAVE to disable the security features just to updates its software. #2. For some reason, when I disconnect the external hard drive from my laptop, my laptop's "system" immediately begins to use 24% of my processor, which causes my laptop to overheat and slow down. I have to reboot my laptop to get it to work normally again. I have a Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 15.6 for reference. Anyway, I highly recommend this external hard drive!

Great easy to use storage, slim and light. Finger print works very well. A little high in price, but overall I'm very satisfied.

I was looking for something to replace my dated, disk base external drive. I did some reach and came across this device. This is my first experience with a solid state external drive and I am not going back to last generations tech. The design is very compact, feels solid, dose not disrupt connection if moved around, works on every device I own (which is a lot) and has great security that makes use of biometrics and a password. The price can be a bit steep for some but for the money, it’s well worth it.

It took some time to setup with a Samsung professional, the Best Buy Geek squad wasn’t too helpful as I went in several times with no solution. Encryption is great as it can be set with a thumbprint or generic password. Holds more than enough data for your files (depending upon which size you purchase) and backups. The T7 is also sleek and fits in any pocket or case for safekeeping.

Fast, very fast. Due to its compact design it does get hot but it throttles speeds temporarily to protect itself.

Much more compact and easier to use than previous external drives. I really appreciate the fingerprint encryption.

It will only work at advertised speeds with a usb 3.2 connection. This not a gaming ssd as it will time out or go into some sort of sleep mode for whatever reason, in the middle of a game it will ruin your gaming experience. The drive does throttle if it over heats. No cooling mechanism. Password protection feature is great w/ fingerprint. Small, light, and easy to store. If you are using it to backup files and store w/ password protection its decent maybe a firmware update will take care of some of the "sleep mode" issues. T5 doesnt have that issues like the t7 and really unnecessary and unless you really want fingerprint or usb3.2 capability in my humble opinion.

Perfect size and pretty portable with a very large and fast storage. Perfect for storing my movies and anime series. Plus it has the added security

Very minimalist design for the mass capacity. Great speed with transferring files (must have done 500GB in 30 mins). Drive has security features (fingerprint, password). However, I hesitate to use for fear that I might no longer be able to access (hard drive app gives a warning when you're setting up the security features).

I liked it: light, small, fast speed and good space. Once you set up the finger recognition password using the built in app (that automatically opens when you connect it) at your desktop/laptop, you can use it on any other device without downloading the app again. Just scan your finger and it would open for you.
