The main reason why I gave this a 4 star out of 5 was some difficulty I had right out of the box and mainly pointing to the software included with the T7. When I first opened the T7, I was blown away at how small it was, it's 1/10th of the size of my first SSD but packs a powerful punch. It will be super convenient to carry around without the worry of it taking excessive space or being too heavy. WHAT YOU'RE GETTING: - Portable SSD T7 Touch - USB-C to USB-A - USB-C to C At initial installation to my Macbook Pro, it was easily recognized. The problem came during the next step when I was installing the touch software with the preloaded files on the T7. It kept saying "Disconnected. No Samsung Portable SSD is Connected" no matter how many times I connected and disconnected the device. After talking to the Samsung rep I was redirected to another link to the finger print software which worked beautifully. As for hardware.... The price that you're paying may seem a bit steep but for the added protection, 1 TB storage space, fast and super portable SSD - its a nice balance. I am able also able to easily transfer files to and from my Macbook and iPad Pro without any added issues or wires – which as a freelance designer, is a blessing! I haven’t tested it out on other devices yet but I can attest to its flawless partnership with the Macbook Pro and iPad Pro. Now onto the fingerprint security feature – I know that a few people think that it might be excessive, and that password protection is more than enough, but then we could say the same thing about our phones. The fingerprint feature is an added security that enables us to have quick access to our files and a peace in mind. You have the feature readily available; you have the option to choose to use it -or not. The choice is yours because you have it. For my SSD, I registered 4 fingerprints – all coming from the same person of course, me. Two are reserved for my left hand and two for my right hand – well because, why not and there are different ports on my computer. I also love the LED status light surrounding the fingerprint reader, it’s a nice therapeutic glow that isn’t too distracting. Other than that, what else can I really say? Quick transfer speed – I use it as a Time Machine backup for my laptop mainly and it dramatically transfers faster than my other SSDs. Super portable and other then the initial software hiccup, it was a breeze to use. I highly recommend the T7 for a someone who wants that added security feature for a peace of mind with a good storage space.

I wanted a secure drive to store some personal documents and photos. This ssd fit the Bill very well. It provides 1 tb of storage with either fingerprint or password protection and I got on sale for about $140. The other advantage is size which is small enough to store easily and large enough that it doesn’t get misplaced.

It’s easy to put documents, pictures, music, etc on this thing. Hooks up to tablet, desktop of phone effortless.

Right from the start I was able to get my new Samsung T7 SSD connected and up and running in a matter of a few minutes. Samsung makes it easy to do so, Super fast transfers speeds as well. I have the black 1TB aluminum brushed metal drive, it is lightweight and compact and it doesn’t much at all and aslo doesn’t take up much room, in fact it easily fits in my pocket. The fingerprint security works well, every time you connected to a different device you’ll be prompted to place your finger on the biometric scan on the side of the device. You can also set up security with a password if you choose to do so. No one will be able to open the contents of the drive if you have these security measures in place. This premium SSD comes with 2 cabbles, USB-C to USB-C and a USB-C to USB-B, and that’s pretty much all you need to get started. At its price it is a little expensive but if you’re looking at this review right now that means you are a high end PC and accessory person. Only the best will do, and if that’s what you’re looking for then you cannot go wrong with Samsung’s T7 SSD.
