Super super fast. USB C to C with lots of room. Recommended!!

A lot of storage and light, small, easy to carry and use.

Needed this for my PS5 and wow it does the job perfectly. Fast transfer speed and it also adds an extra layer of protection with the fingerprint security. If you’re looking for a great SSD drive, the T7 is the right purchase.

Bought to store my games for my portable gaming laptop. This SSD works perfectly for exactly what I need. There was a small glitch where the drive would restart with heavy usage and has since been fixed with a firmware update.

This is a wonderful storage device that gives me peace of mind. With the hardware encryption built-in, you don't have to worry about your sensitive files going to the wrong hands in case you lose the drive.

I bought this to replace an old WD external. So far so good! It holds all my work and files. I like that it came with both USB-C and old USB port cables.

data is all encrypted and password and/or biometric protected. Never forget password - better add biometric. If password is lost, data is lost

My God this ssd is so fast! I love that its so easy to set a password and I feel secure keeping my documents in it. Can't wait to add more stuff to it!

I am no expert on external harddrives. I have a couple traditional SATA drives for things like backing up my laptop, games storage and media storage. Because these types of harddrives have moving parts and can be somewhat fragile, I worry about losing my data. I have come to learn that SSDs are much more reliable, so I chose this drive when it came time to back up baby photos and videos. There is a little bit of setup you have to go through before you can start using this drive. You must install the Samsung Portable SSD app on your computer first and decide how/if you want to use the security features. I opted for fingerprint recognition. After that is all set up you can then move files onto the drive fast and easy. You will be able to access the drive freely until you disconnect it. To access your drive again you need only touch the fingerprint reader, regardless of whether the device you are connected to has the app. The app also allows you to do a small amount of customization, like changing the name of your drive, and keeping your firmware up to date. The drive is versatile in that it is compatible with PC, Mac and Android. Because there is an Android app I tried to use the drive with my phone (Samsung Galaxy S8) but the app could not locate the drive. So, I don't know if that's a glitch with my phone, the drive or the app. Or maybe the Android app is intended for tablets or Android laptops (do those exist?) and not phones. The app description in the Google Play store does not list this model (T7) as one it is intended for, yet it is the app that the drive itself lists to use. The contents of the box are sparse. There is the drive, a pamphlet, and two wires; USB-C to USB-A and USB-C to USB-C. I'm not sure that one wire is any faster than the other. I used both for transferring photos and could tell no difference in speed. The drive features LED light around the fingerprint reader. This will illuminate when using the reader and while the drive is working.  What I like about the harddrive:  - It's pretty fast. I dragged several hundred photos and short videos onto the drive and it only took a few seconds to complete. - It's tiny. It is about the size of a credit card around a half an inch thick. - The fingerprint security feature is nice. You can register several fingerprints. You can also opt for password protection or even no protection at all. - SSD. No moving parts inside means it is much more durable and faster than traditional harddrives.  What disappoints me: - The app on my phone will not recognize the harddrive. - Multiple wires. I realize this is nitpicky, but with multiple devices having multiple removable wires it is very hard to remember which wire goes to which device. 

Best external SSD on the market . I love that I can access or connect it to pretty much any tablet , tv , pc or Mac , or media device without any issues.

The Samsung Portable T7 Touch SSD 1TB has super-fast transfer speeds from PC to SSD (Solid State Drive). I was able to copy about 107GB from my laptop to the T7 Touch in about 1.5 hours using my 3.1 GEN 1 USB port, which transfers files up to 5GBS. The new GEN 2 3.2 USB ports can transfer data up to 10GBS. A lot faster than a standard USB drive. Transfer speeds depend upon your device’s interface limitations. The T7 Touch was easy to set up. It took about 3 min to install the software and begin transferring my data. The T7 Touch is preformatted using exFAT file system right out of the box. However, it did just fine on my NTFS file system. Just plug it in, install the software, and it’s ready to use. The embedded PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory (Express)) technology facilitates sequential read/write speeds of up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s, respectively. NVMe is a communication transfer protocol (language) especially developed for SSDs. The T7 Touch is very light weight, weighing less than my Android Smartphone. It’s about the length and width of a credit card and is only about ¼ inch thick. Making it easy to just put it in your pocket or laptop case for travel. My transfer speeds ranged from 300mps to 1GB using my GEN 1 3.1 USB port. Not as fast as the GEN 2 3.2 USB ports but it’s still a lot faster than a standard USB drive. The T7 Touch comes with 2 cables, C to C (cell phones, tablets, etc.) and C to A (for PC, laptops and other USB connections). These are all you need to transfer from just about any device. There is a circular LED which lights up when in use and turns off when transfers are done. There are three ways to secure your transferred data on the T7 Touch: 1) just using a password, 2) Just using a fingerprint and 3) using both Password and fingerprint. These can be set up when the software is first installed, or later on using settings in the software. I used a password for now. When reconnected to my device, a password dialog box appears and I just enter my password and access all my data on the T7 Touch. There is also a status bar at the bottom of the dialog box, that informs the user of the amount of space used and free on the T7 Touch. The only negative I have is that it doesn’t have its own built in Antivirus software. It is recommended that the user scan ALL data prior to transfer to the T7 Touch. I give the Samsung T7 Touch Portable SSD Two Thumbs up and recommend it for anyone who wishes to safeguard and/or backup any important files or programs.

I work in IT Security and know the importance of data encryption, as my company requires all external drives to be encrypted to maintain legal and industry compliances. Physical: First off, this drive is tiny, one of the advantages of an SSD portable drive. Along with its size, its tough and has shock resistance. Definitely easy to carry around and comes with two cables, USB A (traditional) to USB C, and USB C to USB C, so you have options. Testing and use: I tested this drive on both my Mac and Windows computers, both worked fine. The drive comes with some software that will help manage the drive, but its not necessary to install to use the device after setup. When you first plug the drive in, you are prompted with a drive that holds the software to install on your computer. You will need to install this to setup a password and add your fingerprint. It has android, mac, and windows versions of the software. Once you have the drive setup, you can plug the device into any PC and just use your finger(s) to unlock the drive, you can add multiple fingers so technically it seems like you can share access with others, another nice feature. If your finger doesn’t work for whatever reason you will need to install the software if you haven’t already and enter the password through there to gain access. Speed: Ok the one of the best features aside from security is the speed of this thing. Its fast if you have a compatible port. The drive supports up to USB 3.2, my laptop has 3.1 and was getting blazing fast speeds. This is great for large file transfers such as pictures and movies. Samsung claims 1050MB/s read speeds. Here are my test results with the T7 and a standard traditional external usb hard drive: Samsung T7 Thunderbolt/USB C 3.1 (gen 2) port: Read 1020MB/s Write 914MB/s Samsung T7 USB A 3.1 port: Read 462MB/s Write 452MB/s Standard Ext HD USB 3.0 USB: Read 119MB/s Write 47MB/s As you can see, with the right port, its blazing fast! Very impressed. Downside: No major complaints, but I do wish the software allowed you more advanced settings. For instance, being able to require both fingerprint and password (Multi-factor Authentication), set encryption types, maybe a log system. There are very limited settings currently, however the software is new, version 1.0 so this is all easily fixable by Samsungs development team with a software update. Overall, this is a great drive at a great price. Comes with a 3 year warranty and is a trusted brand. I highly recommend this.

This drive is very fast, but the software necessary to setup the fingerprint reader doesn’t work on my MacBook Pro. Defeated the purpose of having the reader. Had to return.

I own the ps5 next gen console and we all know it’s lacking in space so i had to get this and it’s been helpful
