Plug and play perfection for standard dvd upscale and Blu-ray discs. I'm absolutely confident 4K will look incredible. Samsung quality and performance leading the industry to viewing excellence! Highly recommended!

This will be my second unit. First unit had to bring back to the store because of malfunction. Im pleased with the 4k picture quality. Im more pleased with the upscale of the blu ray discs. It looks amazing! Make sure to get an HDMI Cord that handles speeds greater than 18 mbps.

Very impressive video resolution. Connected to my Samsung 4K model 9000 TV (2 years in age) without difficulty. HDMI input 2 for the Samsung Evolution One Connect module accepted the native 4K resolution signal from the player. Used the alternative connection methodology for direct video connect from player to TV since my Marantz A/V receiver does not pass through the HDMI 2.2 signal. Aside from this minor connection variation, all works well both audio and video. Color saturation and image resolution is impressive watching UHD content (Peanuts Movie and Amazing Spiderman 2) and the upscaling from regular HD Blu-Ray format is impressive (example Star Wars Force Awakens). The Blu-Ray upscaling on this unit surpasses my former Sony Blu-Ray player.

I bought this to use with my Vizio 4K and it may have gotten a 5 if I didn't hate my TV. The picture is notably better than traditional Blue Rays(I bought Dead Poll and Mad Max to start) and I'm convinced the upscaling is pretty significant on regular Blue Rays. It loads fast and is user friendly. I guess if I had a complaint it would be the price so if that's a concern I'm sure time and competition will bring that down soon.

This player does everything we need plus more. It plays 3D, 4K, and even upscales DVD and BluRay to 4K. The set up was easy. The quality is great. We have loved using this and have not had any issues.

First and hopefully last 4K DVD player we bought. Very pricy if you ask me. Overall it plays and runs very well. It would be nice if the remote was easier to use when it comes to surfing for stuff.

Bought this due to fact being first true 4k player. Simple set up. Simple to use. Works great. Sometime I do get a error saying not hooked up to a 4k TV. But per instructions it prefers to bypass a receiver and hook directly to the TV. I do have a receiver for 4k so I just ignore the message and it still plays the 4k disks.

    Amazing 4K UHD Player

I just purchased this 4K UHD player this week. I have to say I am very impressed with it. The up scaling from Blu-Ray to 2160p is phenomenal. We also noticed that regular content from Netflix was also up scaled to 2160p this was a pleasant surprise as I did not know it would do this before purchasing. One thing to note that is really not an issue is 3D Blu-Ray is not converted to 2160p. If you are looking for a fantastic 4K UHD player this is the one you should purchase you will not be disappointed. Many people have complained about the controller being sub par. But if your like most people and have multiple devices you should be using a touch screen Harmony Remote to control all of your devices.

We found a really good deal on our 4K bluRay at the time ($399). It does give a much better picture to both blurays and 4K material on a 4K TV (currently paired with a 60" LG). It looks like the 4K blurays took a dramatic drop in price this holiday making it even more worth the step up to 4K.

This was the best purchase I have made in a while! It makes my 4K tv look amazing. The up scaling is way better then what the tv can do on its own. I am very happy with it!

I have never been an early adopter of new technology. I always wait for the reviews to roll in, and the price to drop. I bought this just a few months ago. $400 bucks then, and I think they are on sale now for $30 off. I am glad that I bought it when I did. I only have a few 4K movies, but more are rolling out.

    The Early Adoption Experience

When I purchased this player, it was the only one on the market that could lay the new 4K UHD Discs. i often find myself being an early adopter of new technology and that can come with some benefits and drawbacks. My experience with the Samsung UBD-K8500 has certainly been no exception. Without a player and discs, 4K content is still very slow to come out with most of it available only through streaming services, which requires a fast, dependable internet connection to be any good. I realize that physical media is not as popular as it once was, but to me, I've always preferred to have physical copies, displayed in my home and not reliant on the health of my internet connection. The good news is that if you're looking for something to play true 4K UHD content with no compression or buffering, the player delivers and it's truly gorgeous. It's also great that the player includes support for 3D titles as I have grown quite fond of 3D at home. The 3D images are always brighter and crisper on my TV, making it preferable to what I usually get in the theatre. Unfortunately, alll of these capabilities are found in a very expensive unit that I find to be just terribly clunky in its design. The unit itself opts for a curvy frame that sticks out like a sore thumb and can be challenging to fit in a cabinet. The remote control is, frankly, pretty terrible. Despite being very small and having a small number of buttons, the design is so far from intuitive that it feels foreign and I constantly have to look to try and figure out where everything is. Far worse, the responsiveness of the buttons is terrible, so it's difficult to know when you've successfully hit the button. The design issues extend to the interface as well, where everything just has a messy, unattractive look. Maybe I'm just used to the Sony interface found on nearly all their products, or the Roku interface, but Samsung could definitely have done a better job. If you've waited this long to pick up a player, I'd recommend perhaps waiting a bit longer for models from other manufacturers, or at least a new Samsung model. It does what it's supposed to do, but it's quite slow and the whole process feels awkward. As early adoption goes, this was one of my less satisfactory purchases.

The Samsung UBD-K8500 4K Ultra HD Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-ray Player is a great all in one player. The on screen user interface makes navigation between multiple media sources simple and easy. Connection to my home Wi-Fi was immediate and brings a whole new world of entertainment to the home tv. True 4K movies are out of this world, and 3D movies are so realistic, they come right into your room. A great piece of equipment at a very reasonable cost.
