Excellent purchase for half the price (200 bucks, original list price was 400 bucks). Love that the remote comes with basic control functions for my Samsung Smart TV as well. Adds to the little luxury it offers by not managing two remotes while using the DVD player.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was going to get the Xbox 1s but does not bitstream (update coming) but im more on movies than games so this is the next best thing plus it has 2 hdmi out 1 vid/sound and 2 sound only, i wont be upgrading my 6yr old receiver yet and still be able to use it no need to passthru 4k vid, dolby truHD and dts master works great no need for atmos or dts X yet :) excellent up convert bluray player too.

I bought it on a splurge and had I really thought about it, I would have opted for a 4k roku for much cheaper. The movie selection, along with the prices for those movies, is not a good deal.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.You can throw all the tech data at this you want- It does not change the fact that an up scaled BD looks almost exactly the same- I bought MadMax and Peanuts, did a AUX comparison with my Sony Bravia 4k upscale and couldn't see the difference until my nose was on the screen. I am not a "videophile" by any means but I recommend leaving this to the early adopters and waiting till these guys are $99.. that is unless your 4K doesn't upscale, and if that is the case drop that $400 and prepare for amazement.

I had been in the process of replacing my DVD collection with BluRay and 4K DVDs, however with this DVD player and my LG OLED TV, there is no need because there is barely any drop off in the quality of the picture of regular DVDs.

Have not had to test surge capacity but was more interested in run time after power failure which occurs with some regularity around here.
